Instead of a continuing excoriation of any particular dealer/seller/shop why don't we take our dissatisfaction to the dealer/seller/shop? It's not as though this hasn't been discussed before? Now sold I bought this a little while ago to satisfy my craving for a guitar with a good range of tonal options, including an acoustic tone. As things have turned out, I’ve carried on using my Roland GR55 live and my actual acoustic at home so I’ve ended up not using this anywhere as much as it deserves. The colour is Peacock Blue. Comes with a nice hard case and there isn’t a mark on the guitar - it is absolutely pristine. Available to try in sunny Lincolnshire or I can travel to meet/deliver - PM for details. I don’t have suitable packing so I’d really rather not post but if there’s no other option, let me know and I’ll get some quotes. Shipping would be at the buyer’s expense, to UK addresses only and to established Guitarchat or Basschat members. I’ll get some photographs in the next day or so. Nearly 2 years passed without buying a bass yet the last 7 weeks has saw me buy 3 😮 Dipped a toe in the multi scale pond with a RedSub 5'er , ticked the Epiphone Embassy off my list today 🙂 This brings me to this one , bit of a dilemma here. I've a thing for slab body P-basses and planned on building another 3 this year. Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe Active/Passive 2016 MIM. This bass is very similar to the USA Jazz bass Elite (with same pick-ups etc) but from the Fender Mexico factory & a fraction of the cost. Near perfect condition with only a very slight scratch on the top horn & a very slight mark on top edge of headstock. (hardly visible) Home use mainly, kept in it's gig bag hence hardly any fret wear etc Great to play and very versatile tones from the passive and active noiseless pick-ups. Reason for Sale: I’m after another bass in here and I need to free up some funds! Feel free to ask questions etc. If you are collecting you are welcome to check the bass over at time of collection. Good to know, thanks. It's more the physical resistance of the click, I don't think it's anything to worry about just different to other pedal switches I've used. Haven't had an awful lot of time to play with it but have got some good quack going on! Also some awful sounds so need to spend some time looking at how the "drive" and "q" knobs interact with each other. Complete pedal noob so don't have a reference point to compare it with. Got some bits coming on Monday to build my first board so I can see this is the start of the obsession ...3 points

SAP Concur is designed as an expense management system for internal company use, it's not a supplier order/invoice system. I think GK are misusing it by making the bands log in and create accounts. What would make sense, if the idea is to pay bands centrally and track cost, is that the PUB puts in an expenses claim to cover your bill.3 points

In my book if a retailer has accepted an order at a certain price and that price has been paid by the customer then that customer should receive what he/she paid for forthwith. The customer is not liable for the retailers' mistake! I'd discuss the situation with the owner and demand satisfaction.3 points

Another lockdown purchase. It's never been out of the house and I've maybe spent a couple of hours playing it in total. What I did do when I got it was to set it up properly, including filing the nut down slightly. I didn't take it too far down in case I went too far but the action is pretty low for me and I'm a fairly heavy player. It's fitted with my usual D'addario EXL165 strings ( I think 🤔) They could possibly be Fender nickels in which case they will be 7150Ms as the green ball end on the G looks more like the Fender seafoam green than the D'addario Green. Come with Entwistle PBXN & JBXN pickups which are the super hot and gnarly neodymium pickups. They have individually adjustable poles which you don't see that often for maximum adjustability. Think more along the lines of Tony Franklin than Jaco. The bridge has threaded saddles which look like they could be brass and are a nice touch. The body is made of Okoume which is a hardwood found in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea which is interesting as I ship goods to both countries and didn't know this untill I googled it today. The fingerboard is lignum-rosa. I have no idea what this is or where it's from but looks much like dark rosewood but feels closer to ebony. The neck is maple - I know what maple is so that's one out of 3 😁 It's an unlined board with dots where the frets would be. The nut width is 42mm but is it incredibly shallow so it's still a really quick neck. Using the weighing myself on the scales and then holding the bass method the bass is coming in at a decent 8.9lbs or 3.81kgs in today's money. Alas, after many, many fretless basses I have to admit that I'm just not a fretless player. Not that I can't play it but I'm more of a clanky frets than mwahy fretless player . I still have the original boxes that it came in - the bass box plus the outer box that they also come in to offer additional protection so postage isn't going to be an issue. Postage to mainland UK will be £35 with UPS, Parcelforce 48 is £20 and if you're a gambling man (or woman) Hermes' "chuck it across the fence" service is £26. Collection is also welcome. I haven't boxed it up yet in case anyone wants more pictures2 points -
More of an assembly job than a build, but anyway... I have an old ESP 51-style Precision, single coil pickup with a slab top. I love the fat, farty sound out of it, but I need a forearm contour and I'm much happier with a J-sized neck. Last year, I ordered a 54-style ash body in trans-white (the Mary Kaye finish) from Warmoth which has been waiting for an accomplice. Today, the postie delivered the neck, ordered from Warmoth late last year - roasted maple, Jazz nut width, tele headstock, side-dots only with banjo frets. The smell of the roasted neck is utterly delicious 😂 Anyway, I'm thinking a humbucking old-style P pickup is the way forward, rather than a proper single-coil and, perhaps, a serial/parallel option via a push/pull volume knob could be very interesting. A Cabronita style scratchplate in mint could be very tasty, too. I'll go with something a little sturdier than the original early-50's style bridge and, of course, it won't be strung through the body anyway. I'm undecided whether to add a bridge cover or not. I think a pickup cover would just get in the way. I have some parts but need to get more before I can really start putting it all together, but this is the starting point.2 points

Purchased this last year, had lots of fun with it but have my eye on something new. Just been restrung with a set of regular slinky's. Also I have replaced the saddle height adjustment screws. The originals had siezed (a fault with the relicing process which Limelight have now changed). The new ones are hex rather than slotted, so not period but much easier to use - but can give you the size details if you want to change them back! I asked Mark about this history of the bass a while ago and he said the following: Limelight 00137 is quite an early one - the 37th one made in fact, and finished in october 2014. Ordered as a 1960 Stack Knob Jazz in Orange over white with a Jazz width maple neck (Not actually an option in 1960 but it was common for necks to be switched). This build was ordered with the earth strip from bridge to bridge PU, but without mute holes, and no hootenanny button either. Also requested for the thumb rest to be in the upper position above the E string (Fender moved it to this position in 1974, before then it was below the G). Also had the later (1968 onwards) barrel saddles bridge instead of the threaded bridge. Whataboutism. The confederates wanted slaves and seceeded to keep it that way. It doesn’t matter how many flag wavers don’t want slavery to come back; the symbolism perpetuates the shameful history. No amount of ‘heritage’ can cover this up. There is plenty of cultural difference and variety in The South to stop needing to fly this flag (or near-facsimiles). It’s also perfectly possible to combat modern slavery and dislike reminders of slavery in the past. This is the same lame argument about caring for homeless ex-soldiers before letting refugees in; rich nations can do both.2 points

I’ve never supplied cables for PA but it’s worth putting together a small bag with some spare cables (guitar and amp cables) a spare strap (just a cheap get out of jail one) an old beer bar towel or hand towel for wiping down your strings after and a set of spare strings, these can be an old set you’ve taken off previously. Personally I’ve never broken a string playing but never say never, remember some wire cutters, but you can get by without) A small multi gang extension 2/4/6 what are your requirements. probably not needed where your going to gig but you don’t know what some venues are like for power outlets. Spare batteries for your pedal/active bass (change them anyway before a gig but carry a spare) A small torch (head torch is best) messing with the back of your amp/cab setup is a pain in a tight spot on a dark stage when you have no light. There are more items you could take but for now a small bag with the basics is fine. Remember your a band and it could be the guitarist forgets his strap or leads or something breaks. It’s a team effort to make it work so be prepared. oh and get some earplugs, the small foam ones are fine. On a cramped stage where you can’t move things can get loud.2 points

Get the tuning pedal absolutely, a good tuning pedal will also mute your sound while you tune up too. When I started gigging this was the only pedal I had, keep it simple but keep it professional and sounding good. Nothing worse than having to try and tune to the guitar player during a set if you should knock the headstock on a small stage (a Cymbal or piece of furniture.) As regards other pedals, unless you’ve had time to get to know them inside out and are fully versed in what they do why complicate things worrying about setting changes in different kinds of rooms.2 points

This is an original Chapman MLB1 Bass Guitar. It is a 34" scale, 'thru neck"construction with a 5 piece maple and wenge wood neck, an 8"radius wenge wood fret board and a bubinga wood body. It has the original Chapman "Bass bucker" pick ups that can be coil tapped. It's only been used in rehearsal and has been well looked after and is currently strung with new Dunlop super bright strings . There are some superficial marks on the underside as seen in the pictures. It also comes with the original gig bag. Any questions feel free to ask. Rehearsal this morning went very well. It wasn't quite the workout I wanted as our drummer was missing due to covid, but it's still pretty loud band. Very happy with the tone. On board compressor is fairly crap. Probably better if I was sticking to 1 way of playing but as I swap between fingers, pick and slap the differences are too big for the single knob compressor to deal with. So I'll keep taking a pedal. And after some more research it seems that swapping the notched volume control for a smooth one is 5 mins easy work. Definitely be doing that as it's annoying. Great sound though. Pre Shape OFF, Slight scoop with the EQ, and just a smidge of drive. Very happy!2 points

Cabs are the one part of the rig that I don’t have backups for. I’d stick with the NYs til they actually give up, unless a change of sound is desired, they’re great little cabs.2 points

My wife doesn't sleep well at all; we have taken to putting this on at about 10.30pm...the opening passages seem to slow your heart rate. She's said that even if she does wake at 4.30am it's just there, lulling her back to sleep.2 points

200W is 5 amps into 8 ohms or 7 amps into 4 ohms. The average signal jack is rated at between 0.5 and 2 amps because they are designed as signal connectors. Neutrik, Cliff and Switchcraft and a very few others do design jacks for higher current but the current rating depends on both the jack and plug. As most plugs are for signals again they are rated at 0.5A. So there is a good chance that you are overloading one of the 4 connectors ona jack lead. A good manufacturer will know that and install high current jacks, however offshore production does add a variable into the mix. Did someone "improve" the design by substituting a locally produced jack? I know a lot of people will come back saying that they have put 400W or more through a jack connection for 2 zillion years. I like to look at it like car tyres. Each has a speed rating and exceeding that rating may or may not cause a blow out. However if you consistantly go outside the specs, something disastrous could happen. As for the issue of grounding a class D output. It may or may not be disastrous. Some will, like AB amps, be ground referenced and normally these will be the higher powered amps. Smaller amps will usually be made with chips that require bridging to achieve the power output. If an amp is bridged, then connecting any speaker terminal to ground, earth, 0V or whatever you want to call it may, at best, test the protection circuit but could destroy the chip. That is when you find out that magic smoke is not really magic at all. Neutrik did not invent the SpeakOn connector to p155 us off. It was because jack(and other types) speaker connectors were the cause of the destruction of many amplifiers.2 points

I wondered why he was on the radio a lot today. I was never a massive fan of his music but will happily enjoy listening to it.
