  1. In the last 5 years I've only seen 2 like this for sale. 100% original down to the last screw and in wonderful condition. Amazing neck. Really great growl. 9lbs 10oz in weight so not stupid heavy..... Viewing welcome and recommended. Very collectable bass. Plenty of photos available of all the pots et cetera, on request. Never thought I'd sell this but you all know how it goes sometimes. Any questions or further requests, fire away/ Based in sunny Swindon. SN14LW Anybody welcome to come over and have a play and behold this serious instrument. I'd be happy to take a couple of instalments for the bass, if that helps. Tradewise, I’m gassing for a Rickenbacker....... Happy viewing,

  3. Played the first gig with my new band tonight,my first gig in 10 years! We only played for 20 minutes opening a charity boxe event, in front of about 200 people. During our second song my bass strap fell off and somehow I managed not to let the bass fall. Apart for that and too many mistakes, I guess it went well. Looking forward to the next.

  4. It has an Eminence Deltalite II 2512 driver (120 quid at Blue Aran), which is what most makers use in their price point neo loaded cabs, so yes, the price is insane, even in the US, where the street price is $799.

  5. Haha yep, it’s 25Kg with the amp. Paul from zilla just got back to me, it’s complete and he’s done an excellent job; the oval window on the front looks excellent in tolex, and he’s put a good sized square window out back too. The V8 style 3-handle arrangement looks perfect! Now all I have to do is touch up the black paint on the head in a couple of places, mount the V4 badge on the front grille and she’s ready for some action again thanks for your help on here guys, much appreciated.

  6. You could just cover the Markbass steel grills with speaker cloth of your choice. It'd be far cheaper than changing cabs - unless you're looking for an excuse to change? Frank.

  7. I would spend your money on lights instead - your missus is gonna be furious when she spots that you've pinched her standard lamp from the front room

  9. At the LBGS I looked at their prices and laughed. £1750 for a 4x10?!! Which was 5 times more than the Peavey 4x10 a couple of stalls down. Their pedal prices were beyond stupid as well. It makes Westside Distribution price gouging us on Mesa gear look reasonable. Pfft. Jog on.

  11. They're aware. Aguilar is a small company, with a business model of selling small numbers of high priced goods rather than larger numbers of lower priced goods. They price their gear with the intent of attracting those who perceive high prices to equate with high quality, and there's no shortage of those. This cab won't work any better than one of the dozen or more other cabs using the same 2512 driver that sell for as little as half what the Aggie does, but so long as Aggie customers are willing to pay their prices they'll keep charging those prices. Can't say I blame them.

  12. Yeah, it is. I wonder how the Aguilar stuff compares?

  13. Whilst I’m waiting for some more paint to arrive to finish the 70’sP Bass I’m gonna get started on a new build I’m doing it out of sapele and pine again but slightly different to the ibby body build Its going to be pine backed with a couple of sapele lines in then sapele wings with pine in the middle, with soap bar closed pickups not sure what colour hardware Black or Chrome I’ll decide when I’ve made the body I’m going to buy the neck which is a eBay special maple/maple with blocks full paddle

  14. Saw this for sale here this morning, it is now my latest acquisition, and very nice it is too. Sounds good acoustically, and surprisingly good through an amp as well. Quite a lot of bass for not a lot of money, I can see this one getting quite a bit of use in its new home.

  15. Am I wrong in thinking these latest Aguilar UK prices are insane? https://www.andertons.co.uk/aguilar-sl112-super-light-weight-1x12-cab

  16. I am regretfully attempting to sell my beloved 73 Fender P bass. This bass was originally played left handed will the strings in the same position. Therefore there is a hole in the opposite side of the body where a strap button would have been. The bass is naturally worn and wears it with absolute pride. Everything is original except the scratch plate which was replaced with an anoxidised one (but still looks damn good). It has been set up recently with a nice low action. there is no fret buzz anywhere and i have recently put new D'addario XL's on it. It plays like a dream. 17. Thanks to everyone who was helpful, with minimum time it was no trouble in the end. The key bits were fine, the twiddles I just made up as I went along and it went great. Without going into detail it was a big thing for my mate and he was more than pleased. So collective thanks to Basschat for making someone’s night. Thanks all.

  20. If you can do fret work, you can do nut work. Just be patient when filing, because if you over do it and the slots are too deep you'll need to do it again. But it's easy. Plenty of videos on youtube will help you. It doesn't take long either.

  22. Fantastic basses, these. Quality hardware, including a metal nut and pu’s that deliver excellent p, pj and j tones at the flick of a switch. Can’t go wrong at that price.

  23. Excellent! I watched the recording this morning. I was amazed by the background story to Superstition. Like the OP I wanted to find out more about the artist. Anyone who swaps between spanners and instruments so readily is cool in my book.

  32. Dr Robert Moog, Daphne Oram, Delia Derbyshire, Ralf Hutter and the crew at Roland. Why? Cos at age 6 or so I got turned onto bleeps and whirrs etc from listening to the Dr Who theme , Magic Fly by Space and Autobahn. And I've been annoying the crr@p out of wives, mates etc ever since with my own sounds and extensive collection of electronica

  36. New addition to the rig..
    1 point
  37. Quite so. Couple years ago, I'm down at an open mic (as a punter) and these three guys plumped themselves down on a sofa (it was that kind of boozer) pulled out their phones and settled down to text their friends and view web-pages and whatnot. For a good quarter hour they exchanged not a word between themselves. To my fascinated disbelief, even their pints remained untouched. Utterly bizarre behaviour (to me) but actively disrespectful to the performers? Not really; they were just socially-atomised numpties doing what socially-atomised numpties do. They might as well have been walking the dog or sat at home with the missus or halfway up Everest in a blizzard, they wouldn't have known or cared as long as they had their digital pacifiers in their sticky little hands. On the other hand I have attended any number of gigs where an audience member has chosen a lull in proceedings loudly to observe that the band is f$cking sh1te and they can all f$ck off and die. That's disrespectful though sometimes quite funny if the band in question is f$cking sh1te and don't know it.

  38. To be fair, I wouldn't think anyone would expect your average pub covers band to get the total attention from the audience.

  41. Seriously basic and old school rig for a Ceilidh last night. Gear4Music precision copy, Carlsbro X100 PA head and a Carlsbro A112 PA cabinet. Sounds OK for occasional use and has the upside of the total rig having cost about £60 Andy
