SOLD!! I custom ordered this beauty approx 18 months ago from Bass Direct and I love it..... but, honestly, I'm more of a Spector-man (No way!! Whodathunkit??! lol!) so, regrettably, I've decided to move this on to raise funds for another Spector purchase. This is the much better looking production model DBird that was sadly discontinued, due to legal issues with you know who over the TBird shape.... and bound to become a collectable as a result! Overall condition is 9/10 with just a tiny chip on the body edge (see pics below). I have NO idea how this got there! I've literally played it live ONCE and just used it at home for the rest of the time.... oh well. It's minor and not particularly noticeable. The colourflip finish on this is amazing though! It looks more blue in the pictures below.... but as soon as you move it around it quickly flips to a stunning purple colour.... and looks amazing under stage lights! Here's the official spec. However, I'd add that it is MORE THAN capable of more traditional tones.....despite the spiel selling it on its aggressive, mid range, modern bite/tone Body & Neck The body is Khaya, a Mahogany variety with accentuated mid range and a brighter attack. A 5-piece Maple neck coupled with a heavy-duty truss rod further complements the treble response while ensuring maximum hardiness. Dingwall manufacture has long-been exposed to extreme climate conditions, so they know a thing or two about reinforcing necks! A Pau Ferro fingerboard adds a little extra warmth and a smooth feel to boot. Multi-Scale Design A noteworthy feature of the D-Bird Custom is its multi-scale design. With a 36.25" scale on the low E string and a 34" scale on the G, the higher string tension on the lower strings gives the bass more punch and clarity where it matters most. Fanned frets allow for super-accurate intonation across the entire fingerboard, with their slanted placement suiting the natural resting position of your hand. It may look odd at first, but you'd be surprised at how easy it is to adapt to this type of neck! Hardware & Electronics The D-Bird Standard is triple-loaded with FD-3N passive pickups. The key to their punchy tone is the use of Neodymium magnets; higher output means a more aggressive sound. This lines up nicely with the tonewood combination, with plenty of midrange bite that produces a distinctly modern tone. Controls are volume, a 4-way rotary switch offers a surprisingly broad tonal palette and master tone Dingwall also opted for a traditional jack plate with Switchcraft jack connection to ensure maximum reliability. Slick smoky black hardware is used throughout, with Dingwall Combustion tuners and a specially designed bridge with a custom riser system - increased adjustability and sturdiness all in one. Hi All, Unfortunately going to put this up for sale . Needs Must.It’s a 1983 with Walnut facings it really good condition for its age with a few marks on the neck ( don’t feel them when playing) and dent on the side see the photos.Weight wise under the 10 ilbs so not too bad and signed of by Ian himself. Comes with Wal Brown case. This was serviced in the last 10 year that was confirmed by the second last owner to me and Paul replaced the string tree thus the reason for the dot on the headstock. I know the prices of Wal these days have gone crazy in the last 2 years ( possibly due to 3 year wait / Tool affiliation ) but the above is in line with that last 2 that have sold on Basschat and actually less than some listed elsewhere online .Looking to clear around 5500€ cash so will accept part trade. Fodera Imperial 5 from 2004 in like new condition. The shown pictures are from March 21 and not optimized in any way. Super rare Brazilian Tulipwood Full Top and Board (this has been a 3000 USD upgrade and is currently not offered anymore by Fodera. Brazilian Tulipwood is a Dalbergia species and should not be mistaken for North American Tulipwood which is a common light wood used for bodies. 35" scale, 22 frets and 19mm spacing at bridge. 5pc Maple Neck. The Tulipwood is attractively contrasted by Purpleheart pickup covers and dots. The body is made of Ash. Pickups are Aero Dual Coils, preamp is the famous Pope. The bass has been well cared for and condition is like new. Truss rod, electronics, hardware - everything works as expected. OHSC included. SOLD !

2009 - Sterling Silver (see registration database details in the pix). These are as rare now as hen’s teeth – none on Reverb and the latest version is nearly £2000 and has horrible little black tuners – probably lighter, but nowhere near as cool as the original clover keys. Although the current Bongos tend to be HH or HS, there’s a lot of love out there for the 4H as deservedly the most “authentic”-sounding (by which I mean Stingray-sounding) variant. I bought this from @Sparky Mark here on Basschat 18 months ago for £750 and it’s been my go-to bass ever since. Since then it’s been expertly set up by Dan Orellana at the Music Inn in Nottingham and fitted with the drop-D Hipshot tuner, which cost me £70 from Bass Direct and works like a dream. I still have the original tuner and will include it in the sale. This lovely bass is in near-mint condition. I can find only one tiny nick in the body, which I’ve shown in the pictures as best I can; and the “pointy” part of the headstock and the jack socket are pristine (they’re often not, for obvious reasons). The case itself is incredibly protective, and has some (but not very much) case candy, if that's the sort of thing you like, and… I have the key!!! The ONLY reason I’m parting with this awesome bass is because I’ve had back problems for years, long before I started playing bass, and – although this is not heavy at 8.6lb – I’ve been finding it a bit of a strain, so I tend to turn to my short-scale Gretsch for preference. Of course, the Gretsch – great-sounding as it is – cannot match the classic Music Man growl and punch of this Bongo, which boasts a lightweight basswood (linden/lime tree) body, a beautiful rosewood fretboard, meaty 18v on-board pre-amp and massively-flexible three-band EQ, and will happily cut through any mix. I am putting this up for sale elsewhere, but not at this price, which is exclusive to Basschat. So, if you’re looking for a premium bass at a bargain price, look no further! I’m in Nottingham and happy to let Basschatters with serious interest come and try it out before buying; or I can post/courier at whatever the going rate is, depending on your requirements; or you can arrange your own courier. I’m not sure of costs at the moment – I’ll get quotes when I know I’ve got to pack it up and have an accurate weight for bass + case + packaging. Downsize bargain. This is a Harley Benton MB5. Started out as a passive classic Musicman like bass, nicely built, even had good tuners which can be sketchy on basses at this price point. I have Modded this to a real bad boy of a bass: Neater bridge (much better than the big plate bridges they come with as stock) See before and after pics. Can supply old bridge if required. 2 band EQ from a Sterling by Musicman SUB 5. Is a better mate to this pickup than the sterling i feel not harsh but still has the Musicman punch. I can throw in a used Brubaker brute Mman pickup for an extra £30. (poleless so murder out would be complete!) Series/parallel/single switching, opens the sound up wonderfully. One slight downside, some neck oil got onto the finish on the back. Not easy to remove from the matt finish, but it will come off in time is suppose, (see pic) not visible from the front, otherwise the bass is perfect. This is basically an inexpensive 'classic' like bass, with some serious punch, really nice action, good fret finish. un gigged bit like me for the last year or so.. Nut width is 45mm string spacing 18 mm Weight 4.1 Kg I can wrap the scratchplate in car wrap vinyl (black textured for the full blackout F.O.C) example pic of finish available on request. Better made I'd say. T-40's are 6lb of timber with another 6lb of metal bolted on 😱 @Pow_22's bass is definitely a Unity, they got some " best bass " award from Bass Player magazine 🙂 The Dynabass was a bolt on active with 2 single coils, Dynabass/Unity series was a neck through active PJ. Going L to R. Dyna/Unity, Dyna and then Unity. To confuse matters these were also sold in the UK as Dynabass/ International Series.

Unique number....I think it would be in the spirit of Basschat brethren to gift it to someone with, say, maybe a similar sort of name? Just can't think whom it might suit.......🤔🤣🤣

Hi folks, I'm looking to grab a Status in the next few months, so I've decided to sell my pride and joy - My EBMM Stingray Special 4HH. I've owned from new and it has been my most prized possession the entire time. Lovely finish, totally loved. I've just had it setup with new DR highbeams at RamJam in Aberdeen. She's got a 18v 3 band EQ and the usual 5 way pickup selector. And the neck 🥰 The ebony and roasted maple is amazing. It feels amazing. It's comfortably the best neck I've played - so taking a bit of a gamble of the Status! If it doesn't work out... I'll defo be back to the EBMM Special! This is a lightweight Harley Benton 5-string bass with Kent Armstrong Vintage-Hot Jazz Bass pickups. It has a basswood body and maple neck with what appears to be a Pau Ferro fingerboard. It has a very shallow and comfortable profile, making for an easy playing experience. The pickups are placed slightly closer to the bridge than standard Jazz Bass positions, bringing out a little more growl and punch in the voice. The original electronics have been replaced with a high quality loom and the bass has received a full setup, both by our own KiOgon. There are some marks from use, shown in the pictures, but the bass is otherwise in very good nick. The weight of the bass is shown to be between 3.25 and 3.7kg.

For sale is this beautiful and technically perfect Musicman Sterling. Basically mint conditions, hardly any signs of use detectable! This is not the cheaper Sterling by Musicman series, but a real Musicman Sterling. It has some slight differences with the famous Stingray: a smaller body, thinner neck and switch for the pick-up. The bass is located in the Netherlands, close to the German border at the place Uelsen. Shipping is also possible.

I've got one of these and have never regretted buying it. I'm a 5-string player but always find myself coming back to my DW Spector. They're great basses, the neck is superb and if you're a fan of Jazz Bass necks then this is even more ergonomic. Can't recommend these enough. GLWTS
