  2. Completed my board just before my birthday 😃 My chain: Elegee Custom Mini Bass > Peterson Strobostomp > Cali76 Compact Bass > Aguilar Octamizer > Guma Antique(Darkglass VMT Clone) > Aguilar Filter Twin > Aguilar Tone Hammer I just got the Guma Antique through this forum, and had the original enclosure changed with my graphic design printed, thanks to Scott from GojiraFX for helping me out. This is a special one as I found this dirt pedal to be a gem and it sounds so good!

  3. My dad recently passed away leaving a collection of guitars and basses, including a travis bean which I believe to be a tb2000 with the serial number 222… it is in immaculate condition and would just like any info on it and a rough price check as from my research they vary quite alot. Funnily enough there is a post from 2017 in which someone talks about owning this one? Not looking to sell as the collection has sentimental value. Thanks in advance!

  4. Played Cardiff Bootlegger last night. Really difficult access, then parking in the world's most cramped multi-storey car park. Load in long and many stairs. Then afterwards load out complicated by huge numbers of (good natured) revellers on the pedestrianised street and a packed dance floor as the disco took over. Staff were great, free drinks too. Audience was enthusiastic but modest for first set, filled up for second set, definitely into our sort of music which was good. We even had people who came because they saw us on YouTube 🙂 Oddly though I felt a bit meh, perhaps because the odd layout put me ahead of the PA. First time I've felt the audience enjoyed the gig more than me.

  7. Hi All, I'm selling one of my Barefaced Four10 cabs as I'd like to eventually get a Six 10. I have two cabs and don't mind which cab I sell; both are in good condition with Barefaced covers and the usual tolex lift on the back of the cabs but nothing bad. If you have a Six 10 I'd be happy to figure out a trade with cash your way. Alternatively, I may be interested in swapping one of my Four10s for a Two10 (with steel grill & ohms switch) and cash coming my way. I want £700 for one cab. I'm based near Oundle PE8 but could meet up halfway within a 60-mile radius. Alternatively, you could come to mine and try the cabs out or I could courier with DPD (insured) for another £65 This is the first time I've sold anything on Bass Chat, but you can check my previous feedback out on Ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/fdbk/feedback_profile/tonysotb Cheers Tony ** Have reduced the price as seen a six10 I'd like to buy**

  8. Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Bass for parts only. I bought this for the pickup to use on my 72 Telebass, it plays really well and is nicely balanced. As you can see the Squier logo has been removed but the serial number remains. Of course it comes minus pickup but with the scratchplate, pots and hardware. You could add a Dimarzio Model one, Darkstar or rout it for another pickup. A good platform for a project. It’s a great bass to play and is a reasonable weight at 4.2kgs. Will be shipped with the neck removed. The bass has had the headstock face revarnished prior to me buying it. The truss rod works as it ought to and the action is nice and low. Thanks for looking. U.K. sale only. Price is posted unless you want to pick it up and then it’s £200.

  13. Already done one gig today - a kid’s birthday party with my “rock band for kids”. It was great, and if I’m allowed to share any pics later on I will - short version is it was the kid of a relatively famous drummer so they are understandably nervous of too many pics getting out. Just learning songs for the second one, a pub/club gig in Eastbourne depping for our @Graham again 🤓 (There’s a last minute dep guitarist too, so the setlist has had a slight tweak and that means three songs I’ve never played 😎)

  15. I think everyone knows the advantages, and sometimes disadvantages, of buying and selling on here, rather than from a shop. I'm glad you enjoy it, but unfortunately the marketplace is open to all and you've got to be quick off the mark to get what you want. If a shop does buy a bass and sell it for more elsewhere, there's not a lot we can do! Just don't hesitate next time

  16. Chuck Rainey, Abe Laboriel, Anthony Jackson, Marcus Miller, Will Lee have all been mentioned in this thread already. That's not my top 5, that's just the bassists who played on Nightfly ! I'd have to find room for Nathan East, who to leave out? Tough call.

  21. Brand new set of Sadowsky 5 string single coils. They sound amazing but I needed hum cancelling for shows. These have had literally a couple of hours play time before they were swapped out. £100 posted in the UK. Thanks Dan

  32. Great thread! It's reminded me of many players that I always meant to check out... My fave is Carol Kaye. Mostly because my earliest exposure to great music was watching TV as a little kid in the 70s, and of course learning years later that most of it was being pumped along by her Royal Funkiness, Ms. Kaye. One for the pot: Chris Chaney.

  35. I bought from them a few times in the 90s, before I moved to Scotland. They were always great. I once went there with the intention of trying an Epiphone Les Paul. They had just released a green one I really liked, so I called first to see if they had some. They had two. When I arrived they ushered me upstairs where I was left to do my thing with a couple of guitars and a very tasty Fender DeVille amplifier... It never mattered if you wanted something cheap or expensive. Glad to hear they're still good.

  38. Better is entirely subjective, and will also be dependant upon what sort of a keyboard player you are a what sorts of sounds you want to get out of it. Even for pianos there are a lot of different actions available. Most serious keyboardists will have at least two keyboard controllers one with a piano-style weight and action and another lighter one for organ and synth sounds.
