  2. Sold Thanks Putting my Limelight P bass up for sale as another bass has given me the dreaded GAS . Bought this from BassBros it has the nicest feeling relic’d neck I’ve ever owned , but to be honest I’m a jazz bass guy , and it’s not getting the use I thought it might . Not sure what the pick ups are but it sounds great . Its a light I believe relic which has been done very tastefully IMO . Strung with DR black beauties and will come with the original Flats as well. Weighs a smidge under 4kg . comes with hardcase . Could courier at cost & buyers risk . UK sale only (sorry ) £825 + shipping Note…If the bass I’m after sells I will probably remove from sale as I’m in two minds about selling this lovely instrument

  3. That's really very bad as the case for simple theft - and indeed fraud, is easily made out. I understand if it's about 1 pedal on 1 occasion as that would effectively be one word against another, but this appears to be a serial thief/fraudster. First you have to make the allegation of the crime. Use your local police force online reporting facility. In your report you need describe what happened: The date and location (the location is where the offence happened - (don't say Facebook or eBay or whatever - someone here must have the guys home address?) That he was dishonest - "Whether, according to the ordinary standards of reasonable and honest people, what was done was dishonest." That he intended to make a gain for himself - According to section 8 of the Criminal Justice Act 1967, “a court or jury, in determining whether a person has committed an offence… shall decide whether he did intend or foresee that result by reference to all the evidence, drawing such inferences from the evidence as appear proper in the circumstances”. He appropriated 'property' - 'Any assumption by a person of the rights of an owner amounts to an appropriation, and this includes, where he has come by the property (innocently or not) without stealing it, any later assumption of a right to it by keeping or dealing with it as owner.' Property - 'Property includes money and all other property, real or personal, including things in action and other intangible property.' Belonging to another - 'Where a person receives property from another, and is under an obligation to the other to deal with that property or its proceeds in a particular way, the property or proceeds shall be regarded (as against him) as belonging to the other.' With the intention of permanently depriving the other - The important test is whether the person appropriating the property 'treats it as his own to dispose of regardless of the others rights'. In simple terms: I paid for the item and he failed to send me the goods, and that you know (and point to) several other victims of the same theft/fraud; His intention to make a profit/gain for himself is clear as he has done the same thing to several other victims (as above); Despite repeated requests for your money he has kept it; It was a £xxxx including postage He received the money and was under an obligation to send you the goods. Point them to this thread. They may NFA it straight away but you can take it further: Make a complaint about the police using the IOPC website - https://iopc-complaints.egressforms.com/ The local Professional Standards Department will inform you about the rationale why it wasn't investigated in an attempt to 'service recover' the complaint. Don't accept service recovery and tell them you want the complaint recorded. Then they have to write out their rationale as a response to your complaint. You can appeal their decision to the local Police & Crime Commissioner. If you get no result - write to your MP informing them of the multiple scams and that your police force is doing nothing about it. If we can just get one police force charging him, then you can tell them about all the other 'unsolved crimes' and get permission from the court to consider them all in the same court. I don't know about Scottish law - sorry.

  6. Hi all, I've seen something for sale that I really want so I'm looking to sell this beautiful Maruszczyk Jake 5p. If it sells, this will be withdrawn. Spec: Finished in solid black with BWB 3 ply pickguard (you can see the grain through the paint) Swamp ash body Bird's eye maple neck and fingerboard with carbon rods in a matte finish Luminlay side dots Headstock with simple M logo Hipshot B style bridge with 17mm spacing 34" scale and 45mm at the nut Hipshot HB6C 1/2" tuners Passive electrics with usual P bass volume and tone Domed chrome knobs Delano PC5 AL/M2 pickup Weighs 3.7kg, just over 8lbs This bass is super light and very well balanced for a 5 string P and sounds very, very as good as it looks! Comes with original certificate and spec sheet and generic Chase hardcase. The bass is in great condition, there is a small scrape on the top of the headstock in the usual position, and there are some pick marks on the pickguard and minor swirls on body as you'd find on a black bass. I replaced the chrome pickguard screws with black ones, but I can change them back if the buyer prefers. Currently strung with flats, but I have a new set of rounds I can put on if wanted instead. There is a 3D printed thumb rest attached by the pickguard screws which can be easily removed if desired. Before I received this bass it was setup at the Bass Gallery, and it pretty much plays itself! Pickup from Leeds is preferable, but I can post within the UK or drive a reasonable distance to meet up. Please let me know if you have any questions! The original owners for sale post is here for some more pics: Here is my feedback:

  7. So. The Auditions for the 602 are over, there is no 602 any more. this thread makes me howl when I relive the petty nonsense involved in getting a band together… Anyhow, welcome to Flying Oceans. 3/4 of The 602 with Andy on guitar. Lead single “Circles” from the “November sessions” which actually turned into the “End of January sessions” because all of us had covid at various stages. This is now on its way to Mastering guy. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oqNmmrVpKVNsQArYDyAIRG5PsGoaRgHR/view?usp=drivesdk

  9. Squier Classic Vibe 60s Precision - Fiesta Red - 2010 Fantastic condition. Lovely dark rosewood board. I'm being critical: there's one tiny, tiny compression mark in lacquer to back body near the strap button. Two indentations on back which haven't broken paint which look to me like finish flaws rather than dings. Very minor scrape to headstock. Should all be shown in photos. Pots were a little scratchy but I've sprayed with contact cleaner and are now fine. I'm replacing with ... the same, but in Olympic white. Currently strung with relatively new Thomastik-Infield Jazz flats JF344. Currently has Dunlop strap locks but originals included. Ideally looking for collection from Orpington BR6 or meet up within reasonable distance. Can potentially post at buyers cost and risk but currently all out of packing materials so would need to source some more first. £430 as is or £400 if I keep the flats and I'll put some rounds on (took them off the bass when I got it but no idea what they are). 10. This series of basses ran from late 2016 until replacement by the Player Plus last year. UNUSUAL high spec for any Fender, let alone Mexico. Precision body Jazz neck (the Player Plus appears to have gone back to standard P 41.3mm nut). Similar logo to late 70's 12 " radius fingerboard (again unusual in Fender). Medium jumbo frets Sculpted neck heel Precision middle pup Noiseless Jazz bridge pup Passive & Active (18 volt, lot of headroom). Vol, blend, treb, bass, active switch, mids (treble works as tone control in passive). Fender High Mass Bridge Fender gig bag 8lb 14oz There are some dints on the back, near lower strap button, from where it fell over. The price reflects this. Wonderful to play with a huge tonal palette. Reason for sale is simple, I got a black, ebony boarded Geezer Butler. Feedback also available elsewhere. COLLECTION from Darlington preferred, or will meet half way, within 100 miles radius of Darlington. Thanks for looking.

  11. Here's your chance to grab this gorgeous bass. The bass is great, but family matters have caused me to put it up for sale (the big C has raised its ugly head, so I'm selling some stuff to get dome funds togather) I purchased the bass from The Bass Gallery in Camden in December 21. I had a clear pickguard made to.dhow off the gorgeous quilted maple facing. The control knobs have been changed for Sadowsky style ones - allowing you to see your settings more easily. (The original pickguard, and control knobs are included in the sale). The bass is unmarked, and also comes with three spare sets of Dingwall strings. The price includes fully insured courier delivery within the UK. I'm based in Motherwell, Scotland but will slso be in London on 5th /6th April. Any questions, just ask. Go on, treat yourself!!!

  12. G&L Tribute JB-2 Same body shape as the L-2000, Jazz profile neck. G&L saddle lock bridge, 2 x Alnico J pickup with vol, vol, tone. Bought new around seven weeks ago. I have spent a fair bit of time on this bass, giving it a lot of TLC including set up, as well as softening the fingerboard edges with wire wool and also re-cutting the nut slots for a nice low action at the first fret. No structural or cosmetic issues with the bass other than that there are a few small file marks by a few of the frets when they were dressed at the factory. Bass plays great with a nice low action. £250 Bass can be auditioned in Market Drayton in Shropshire/Staffs borders. Could travel within reason for a meet or alternatively can possibly post if buyer arranges their own service and level of cover.

  14. SOLD Fodera MG 5 Elite 28/ 01/ 2008 Serial num: MG52885N Buckeye top Walnut Maple neck Neckthru construction Birdseye maple fretboard 5 strings 34' scale 26 frets 19.5 mm string space Match headstock Match pickup covers Mike pope preamp Ducan dual coils pickup B xtended Ramp Painted grain Original case Mint condition 10,8 pounds (4.9 kg) It is a wonderful bass, supreme construction and dream playability. The sound is clean and woody and between series/ parallel, active /passive pickups and the active eq, I would say that this one can cover all. The neck pickup can sound very pbass and the bridge cuts through all. The extremely fast slim neck, plus the Birdseye maple fingerboard, makes it "too" easy to play. The action can go ridiculous low and still allows going heavy on the right hand. Despite the 10,8 pounds (4,9kg), the balance is so good that i don't feel like it is heavier than my BBNE2 (that is about to go to the market as well) The bass is in Mint condition. As a wonderfull wood grain. And the only scratch is at the bottom. There's also a tiny mark on the the top near the volume knob that it is not a scratch on the veneer, so i would say that it is something to do with the aging. Apart from that the bass its in perfect conditions and it plays amazing. Will go with the original case. I bought it, here at basschat last year, and as you can imagine it's not easy to let it go, but since there I've only used twice on studio and nothing else. Being my self a Yamaha artist 99% of the times i go with a Yamaha bass, but to be honest I am getting to that fase in life that all i ear in my head is a 4 string pbass. I know that, a few years ago i would rather only have this one on my quiver, but my ears and heart are keep pointing to the pbass. So this is the only reason why i'm selling this beauty. I can ship all over the world, but it will be at buyers costs. Theres a MRW office near by, and it is a company that i trust. Also, can meet near Spanish border or even better, I can meet or pick the buyer at the Lisbon airport in order to facilitate the business. Anything else maybe possible, it is just a case of possible ideas.

  15. Well here is mine. Pre birthday it was looking a bit bare without the "Landlord Lock-in Tuner" and "Hypergravity Compressor". Post birthday it looks more like a pedal board (hopefully). The gap between and above the "Bad Monkey" and "Hypergravity" is reserved for (probably) an Octave pedal (one of the more natural sounding ones rather than very synthy ones). The Bad Monkey may get replaced at some point. I'm using the Fender ABY to switch between basses (a G&L L2000 Tribute and a Sire V7 fretless). The power supply underneath the board is an "MXR DC Brick"; it just about fits under the PedalTrain Metro 20 board - it would have been less tight if they'd provided a few 90degree to 90 degree power cables, rather than all 90degree to straight. I hadn't intended the patch cables to give it a slope type aesthetic, but as they do I'll claim the artistic creativity😜. The bass lurking in the background is my G&L L2K (the same one as in my profile pic).

  17. The thing is people go to see different types of live bands for different reasons. If your original material intrigues me, then I will quite happily drive to a gig and pay a few quid to see you play on a proper stage. When I go to a pub gig, it's not just about the band. At a pub I want to see a decent band playing reasonably familiar songs (but ideally not the same ones as I heard last week) while I have a few beers and hang out with friends. My expectations, not to mention what I actually want from the night, are completely different to when I pay to see a band playing original material.

  19. Morning all You may or may not have seen my current project bass, the Wal-ish, over in the Repairs/Technical forum. Long story short the project is expensive and I need the money from somewhere! This will help fund a new neck for the 'Wal-ish' bass....So sadly selling up this lovely bass. Used at home and in the local studios, not gigged, well looked after. I love these basses. I wrote up a review here - https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/441894-squier-classic-vibe-50s-precision-bass-nbdreview-astounding/ - and I may regret this decision. However, it's not the only bass I'm having to sell.... Specs and details are at https://www.fender.com/en-GB/squier-electric-basses/precision-bass/classic-vibe-50s-precision-bass/0374500503.html Anyway. It's light (9 lbs), it's well set up, it sounds great, and it looks beautiful. I put the pickguard back on for sale but most of it's life it has been pickguardless, as pictured in my linked thread above. Everything works. The truss rod is fine, the frets are level, the electronics work normally. Can get a box and ship for additional postage. £280 £250 + shipping seems reasonable enough given current prices. Pete Here's the pics:

  20. It is time for the formalities of deciding the next monthly champion and after due congratulations to @skankdelvar , who is finding his groove with style, he chose the following image for the March challenge. It is now incumbent on the BC massive to pick their favourite 3 Your choices are as follows .... 1. @Dad3353 It was the colours that inspired, with thoughts of voices from the East; will they ever be heard again..? Where are they, right now..? To be played quite loud, to drown out the thud of cannons. 2. @Nail Soup Daffodils always remind me of a works trip to a daffodil festival. The organiser has a son with some kind of nuerotype which leads to argumentative behaviour, which is very difficult for his parents. This is one of the few works trips he didn't come on. That is one of the topics covered. 3. lurksalot A few observations put together in an oddish sort of time , reflections of simpler things maybe 4. @NickD Inspired by the colours, the times in which we live, the thought of bits of kids being sent to do a job that's not at all what they were told, and the story of a very brave old woman. 5. @Leonard Smalls Here's a bit of jazzy groove with a soporific feel. Or not! Either way, it's inspired by Frank Bough eating daffs on Nationwide 😁 6. @Nicko Inspired by the Latin name for the daffodil, Narcissus which led me to write something about those people that rate themselves too highly. 7. @skankdelvar Just a song about daffodils. They're pretty. 8. @SH73 The song is called Diedfordills , unsure if lyrics have any meaning 9. @upside downer An instrumental with a slow and steady beat, a chilled feel and the wish that we'd all kick off our tight shoes, grab a tipple of whatever takes our fancy, smell the flowers and try and enjoy our time on this crazy old world with our fellow travellers in time and space. 10. @MoonBassAlpha It's a spring-like, yearning, germinating thing. Or something! ymmv! Well that's your lot , and a jolly good lot they are too! choose your favourite 3 Voting will close at midnight on 31st March , which I believe is a Thursday,.... It is ... yes its a Thursday good luck to all

  26. The bass player who substituted for Carol at the last minute was in one of the first decent bands I ever played in during the mid 70s. He is a talented singer/guitarist and actually contacted me for some bass playing tips a couple of days before his performance. I thought he did an excellent job considering the circumstances and it was a great opportunity he could not pass up.

  30. Hello I bought this jazz a couple of years ago. Since then I have played bass less and less and a new Strat is required. It's from 1984. The condition is 8/10 with a few play wear and dings to the finish here and there. It is is completely original apart from a refret. It was refretted using medium jumbo Dunlop 6105 by Johnny Kinkade here in Bristol. He is a fantastic luthier, there are videos of him chatting with Dan and Mick from That Pedal Show which demonstrates his knowledge and skill for building and repairing guitars. Currently strung with some rounds, it is a resonant and lively bass. The neck in particular is great it is a great medium C which feels very comfortable. Collection from Bristol preferred. I can also post, but it will be at the buyers expense. No trades please.

  37. What makes a song successful is that it is memorable and that it stands out from the "competition". Sticking to the formula can make that much harder. Making a song memorable means having something that people can latch on to. A song with different structure can be a very effective way of doing this. However IME you don't "force" it, because it always ends up sounding contrived. A successful unconventional structure is one that just happens during the song writing process.

  39. In the first episode Martin said that for a recent Spandau Ballet tour he re-learnt the basslines from Youtube videos. I'm sure he was exaggerating a little bit for comic effect, but he does strike me as someone who only maintains his bass-playing skills to whatever he needs for Spandau at the time.

  40. Thanks @LukeFRC, I thought if I was doing the R&D myself, I might as well share it. That was the original thinking behind the thread anyway! And I still have a lot left I want to get through, there’s plenty left to experiment with. It’s costly in time and money, but I think worthwhile. I probably should put some kind of link to this thread on Talkbass, there’s a lot of people there doing similar experiments to me out there and who share the same goals.

  41. IME writing songs is something that improves the more you do it. In fact once you've reached a certain standard it becomes harder because you want every new song you write to be even better than the last one. You didn't start playing the bass well enough to be in a band overnight so why should song writing be any different? Also why rely on your guitarist to come up with musical ideas? You play a melodic instrument too.

  43. Ahh, I too still have my much-used and much-loved Trace Elliot GP11 Mark 4 preamp, identical to yours as pictured above; great sound and completely bomb-proof construction. 44. As I said in the bass confessions thread, I don't really care what a bass sounds like as long as it is capable of going 'dum dum dum' on a gig. Therefore looks are pretty much my only criterion (bar weight, due to dodgy back)

  46. Yes, pretty much every bass I have ever bought. In my hands, in a band mix, most basses sound pretty much the same; so how they look is what differentiates them from each other. If you play live it is, IMO, important to have a bass that compliments the image of the band.
