Well guys....you were just RIGHT !! Arrived this morning...beautiful neck , lite , very very punchy and a nice and tight low B. Will sure change the knob configuration in a V/V/T ..;I like to mix the 2 pick up and choosing the balance. Capacitor and tone will also be changed..;but this are really minor adjustement to my taste and habits. Considering how much I've paid for it it's a nice bargain. The neck feels just fine and the pups sounds really good rich and powerful.2 points

Hello guys, I’m selling this piece of beauty. Warwick build this bass specially for me under my specification. It’s a unique bass with a powerful sound and has performed great at higher pro levels. Here you can watch a video-demo that I arranged for it so you can check her capabilities. It’s a very versatile bass and by the way, it’s a gorgeous finish!!! It has an scratch on the side because of the screws of the strap (see the pic), otherwise is perfect. I later installed an Aguilar OBP-2 preamp and EMG active pickups, a combination that I like a lot and that suits this bass perfectly. Hi bassers, Sorry not looking for trades, I need the cash. PRICE NOW DROPPED TO £2100!! Serial number in the 1500s, hand built by Mike Tobias and his team. My guess on the woods: Shedua/wenge/alder body Flamed/Birds eye maple through neck with wenge stringers Pau Ferro fingerboard Pickups are the usual Bartolinis, electronics appear unmodified. Scale is 34", string spacing at the bridge 18mm, and it weighs 4.1kg (bathroom scales method). Condition almost mint, there are no visible dings or buckle rash, just a couple of small areas along the side of the fingerboard where the lacquer is a little cloudy, apparently quite common on these old Tobiases. I've included close up pics of the two areas. The neck is very straight and I had frets dressed and full set up a couple of months ago. The bass has a belter of a tone, puts a childlike grin on the face of whoever plays it :-) Thanks to the ultra slim neck it is super fast to play and well suited to small hands. I can ship it in an old Bass Centre hard case but buyer will need to arrange shipment/insurance. Any trials welcome, pm me if you're interested & I'll get the kettle on. Mr Pattituci seems to be gigging another new bass... I liked the look of the big jazzbox looking thing he was playing (like the Thundercat bass but a Yamaha) but that doesn’t seem to be for general consumption. This one looks like a TRBX but is semi hollow. It’s on the border of looking like an eBay special, but I like it.1 point

When "Boy" was released what U2 were doing was fairly radical compared with other "new wave" pop bands. Good tunes coupled with an inventive guitarist. It hasn't always been "stadium rock" either. I saw them in 1980 along with about 50 other people at The Boat Club here in Nottingham on their first proper headlining tour.1 point

@Cuzzie Please could you post the link to that thread? I've got some mucking about ahead and would like to try some different options. I've got a Dean Rhapsody 12, I picked it up for <£400 about two years ago. Quality is way beyond expectation and it just doesn't go out of tune, it's very stable. It's the only bass I have that I haven't fettled in some way, the fret job is great. From my experiences of an 8-string it was trying one that was the deciding factor in me getting a 12. Jeff also uses an 8 a lot (I've seen him play one live on RVM, Go and I think State over the years). Based on my Dean I think that with the width of a 12-string board and the area that the strings cover I could around an 8-string quicker so for trickier lines where more dexterity is needed it would be more like a 4. I have to say that when I swap from the 12 to a standard 4 mid-gig it's like putting down a rocket launcher and picking up a rifle.1 point

@Sean utterly jealous mate. I have serious 12ver gas and am waiting for a Hamer to come up, and I know I have a set up waiting for it with instead of the LS-2 I have a Tyler by KMA Audio Machines to blend modulators and dirt with a clean signal. This does not require bi-amping, I started a thread on it in the effects section with links to how it works. so far as 8 vs 12.......although they are essentially tuned the same, to my ears the 12 is so much more, that extra octave string giving more presence in the mix. There is a reason why Tom, Jeff, dUg use a 12 and not an 8. only 8 I have tried was the Spector, I was thoroughly unimpressed by it, could have been an off day for me, maybe I expected too much, but I await patiently.1 point

Chances are there's an open coil in one driver, but those four may be series wired, so when one won't pass signal they all stop. You'll need to pull and test the top four drivers to be sure.1 point

Just to say the bass arrived today. My third ACG bass and equally as superb as my others. Another credit to Alan Cringean. I'd also like to thank Reggie for actually managing to get it to me having had to attend a funeral 100 miles away, and being pretty unwell and bed bound after I made the purchase. He obviously went the extra mile under these circumstances and I thank him very much. I highly recommend him to you all if he decides to sell any other gear. I think Bach. I remember hearing he could improvise entire fugues which means playing stanzas forward, backwards, upside down etc (the stanza, not the performer!!). As for contemporary musician, I haven't much of an idea really.1 point

Franz Schubert was thirty-two when he died, having completed seven symphonies, over six hundred songs and a whole bunch of other major works. I'll admit to not having listened to it all, but of what I have, there's not much dross in there. Most of his stuff is still being played by top musicians to this day, and is unlikely to fade away. Just sayin'.1 point
