  2. Revere's *Summer Concert Series Featuring " She's Right I'm Left" Thursday Night 6:00-9:00 This is an acoustic gig and we're outside. I hope we have decent weather. Anything can happen in Wisconsin in June. We play to the dinner crowd. This is a high end crowd we usually do well with. Big tippers $$$. Daryl * Summer Concert Series. That's fancy talk. It use to be known as We Have Bands. Lol

  4. Old furniture can be picked up for very little at the moment. I'm pretty sure that one of the major complaints from partners is how unsightly instruments are on stands in the living room. Possible solution??

  5. WR Amplifying “Tube Emphasizer” DI & Preamp (£395 inc RM Special Delivery) For sale is my WR Goliath Preamp & DI. This is an absolutely fantastic, top tier, handmade Tube preamp - this is a proper Tube pre getting very close to the sound & feel of the Noble etc (there is a lot of talk/comparisons/sound clips on TalkBass about this, the Noble and other Tube ore’s & DI’s if you want to google it) This is leagues above tube pre’s like an EBS Valve Drive or Two Notes Le Bass etc, this is a preamp that you also feel on the strings as you play as well an immense tube sound which works great direct to FOH or just in front of your amp - Its a clean preamp however, not a high gain distortion type, but the sound is unreal I paid £500 in a deal with JoeABass for this is Feb (see his ad below👇 for more info) I’ve done a lot of gigs and some recording too with it, but I find I don’t like taking it out with me to a lot of places as I’m worried I worry it’ll get kicked/broken/drinks spilled on it etc, so I can’t justify having the money tied up in it at the moment, I am also looking to get a couple of things and I can’t afford to buy anything without selling first Basstheworld have done a couple of videos about it - the one I’m selling in the top end one (the Goliath Plus) with XLR out and Bypass switch. I’ll link the vids below, along with a sound demo done by someone else that showcases it pretty well It doesn’t come with its own power supply (just a generic 12v adapter bought from Amazon) however it works fine from my 12v slot on my TruTone power supply - the official power supply required is 12v DC @ 1 amp (1000 mA) but a standard 12v pedalboard power supply is fine It’s still in good condition, obviously it’s been gigged but it’s still working great and cosmetically in good nick I have done some serious hand wringing about selling this and about what to ask for it - I realise the market is pretty slow at the moment and so I have very much priced it to sell! I am taking a loss but everyone selling gear at the moment is doing so, I figure that if I buy something else it’ll probably be cheaper too at the mo, so it’s swings & roundabouts I guess! Price is £395 inc Special Delivery - to get one now like this would cost you €625 plus import duties plus shipping! Trades - Possibly but I’d prefer a cash sale, however bass-wise it’d be 5 string only - a Sadowsky MetroExpress 5, Yamaha PJ5 (bb735a/bb1025(/x) could possibly add cash) or a Jad Freer Capo (plus some cash your way), also I need a decent 4 Ohm cab 600-800w+ ideally a 210 or 212, or maybe another preamp pedal - it depends what it is but I’ll consider any offer just shoot me a message, I don’t mind and the worst I can say is no Thanks for Looking ✌️

  6. I’ve had quite the change around, hence my sudden flurry of for sale ads! I’ve joined the helix gang and am very pleased so far. My favourite thing about this set up is that all my jacks can be inboard of the board edge, away from drunk feet

  8. Alder body in chrome red, C shaped maple neck with a dark-rosewood board (not photo enhanced) No truss rod issues. Nut 41.3mm String through body I replaced the original split single coil pickup with a Dimarzio DP122 WIMO is far superior to the stock one. I also replaced the ‘S1’ switch with a Fender 250k log vol control pot (who wants the windings in parallel giving a weakened output?! ) Both the original pickup and S1 switch are included. Rotosound 45-105 rounds fitted. Fender moulded case plus strap clips if you want to use. Small touched-up paint chip near neck indicated. Other than that negative, you could say excellent condition - great balanced thick sound of course. 10. Donkeys years ago, we played a big health club Xmas Do in the city centre. This being a very chic health club (our BL was a very wealthy dilettante; he used to come to rehearsals in a Ferrari), the posh buffet was mostly unmolested, and after the punters had picked and faffed I went up to the ice stand where two lobsters were displayed above the prawns. 'Are those things just for show?' 'No, they're real' 'Right, I'll have them, then'... That was the same gig where the bloke who'd booked us came up to me as I was getting changed after the gig (black tie and suit had been the request) and gave me a wad of cash. I went up to the bar where the others were 'Lads, I've got the money' They looked at me... 'Yeah, so have we'... I looked at the wedge in my hand. It was more money than any band I'd been in till then had ever been paid. 'But....oh.' It was a shame that band fell apart, we never went anywhere near the Dog & Duck, the nearest we got to the hoi polloi was a golf club...

  12. A slight amendment, I like the circuit showing so cut a shape of copper tape to shape around the circuit and rest of the cavity. Looks a bit more interesting this way I think. it’s not perfect but a lot better in my view! Maybe add an led strip a bit later!

  13. Tried the Monaco tonight with the band at rehearsal and with my EICH T900 amp ( new arrival too ) it was as loud and perhaps louder than my two Ampeg SVT112AV cabs. It’s a single 8 ohm cab so I’m only getting 600w out of the T900 but I was running with master volume around 11 o clock so plenty of power to go if required. Very tempted to add a second Monaco just to have the ultimate large - small venue rig ! Monaco was loud, clear and full sounding.

  14. Price dropped to £1250 before it goes down to Bass Direct for a commission sale, unless Mark feels like offering me a good price on it. Single Cut Skelf 32 inch scale 5 string. I have had a number of Alan's masterpieces over the years and this is the nicest one to play. If it wasn't for a change in circumstances, It would not be for sale. Originally specced out by @Merton of this parish, it is a gorgeous example of Alan’s exotic wood options - the “Fractal Mac” ebony top is crazy cool, different and interesting. It's light at 3.7Kg or 8lb 3oz in old money and is absolutely "as new". When I got it Alan had installed a 4-way pickup select switch (bridge, both parallel, both series, neck) but I felt it was a bit limiting so got Alan to send me a blend module and I find that much easier to get the tone you want. The P-Retro is an amazing piece of kit as well. I can easily swap it back to the selector switch if that is your thing. If it wasn't for the fact we're leaving the country, this bass would be going nowhere. This is probably going down to Mark @ Bass Direct in a week or so as I really don't want to take it with me when we emigrate. So, the specs: 5 string (low B) 32” scale White Limba body, fractal mac top 3-piece ash neck with carbon rods, asymmetric neck carve Rosewood board, zero radius Reverse 1+4 headstock with matching fractal mac veneer 2x ACG Overwound reverse PB ceramic pickups (essentially a P split pickup in a soap bar case, and reversed so treble side is nearer the neck) East/ACG P-Retro with active/passive switch, pickup blend. Hipshot B-type bridge, 17mm string spacing Gotoh tuners Currently strung with Newtone nickel strings Comes with a Fusion Gigbag

  15. I've have been very happy with the ultra clean and precise sound from my GR Bass amp, cab and preamp pedal...... But we all like a little bit of dirt now and again don't we. So.... Bass Bros had this Ampeg PF50 and cab for sale and I hit the buy button without hesitation. I had for some stupid reason thought the cab was the 12" version. I looked again this morning and it was clearly marked 15". Will ( bass Bros ) very kindly said he would take it back if it did not suit my needs. After leaving it a few minutes to warm up I was pleasantly impressed with the warm sound that filled the rehearsal room. Obviously it sounds completely different from the GR Bass, they are so different. I'm not going to gig it, it's just for my person practicing pleasure..... Nice.

  23. Music Man Stingray 1993 Great Music Man in natural finish. The bass has several usermarks/dents, and 2 damages as pictured. Technical condition is good. All hardware and electronics work like they should, the neck is straight and adjustable. Frets are still good too. Playability is great. Included is a generic softcase. It's a very good bass, but I happen to prefer the ones with lacquered necks. €1.500 I am located in the Netherlands, but happy to ship at buyers risk and expense.

  24. Plug in. Turn up. And, above all, have fun. In "as new" condition, the plastic is still on the tuners. The Red Carbon effect pickguard is a vinyl wrap, that can easily be removed, but IMHO it looks much better than the white it comes with. Not many black ones around, but I also have the Sea Foam green version that's going nowhere, well actually it's coming to Valencia with me. It's a cracking bass and punches way above it's weight. Incidentally, when weighed using luggage scales, the heaviest reading was 7.5lbs. Any questions, just ask. Here's what Ibanez have to say: As part of the SR Mezzo series, the Ibanez SRMD205 brings an abundance of fun to playing the bass. A shorter 32", 5 string, medium-scale makes playing a breeze while still producing a luscious, rich low end. The lightweight design also adds to the comfort and enjoyability. Ibanez custom 2-band EQ electronics with DXP and DXJ pickups, this bass is really versatile. strung with D'Addario® EXL165 + .130 medium scale nickel strings.

  25. I forgot to update the Yamaha’s in & out 😂 The BB424 left the house (very good bass by the way) I bought a BBP35 a couple of months ago. What a fantastic bass this is. I love it!!!! I also have a BB1025. It’s a different beast compared to the BBP35. The BBP35 it’s now without the pickguard. Will have a transparent. I will picture when it arrives.

  27. And the ball end is a weak point which can shear if there's a lot of force on it. If the truss rod access slot is a bit on the short side, find what size allen key you need and cut down the short arm a bit so you can get the allen key in properly.

  28. We played McCathy's Sports Bar in Bletchley on Saturday. I believe live music is a relatively new thing there and the guy who runs it is trying to build things up. Very quiet to start with but got busier for our 2nd set.

  31. 41 year old Ibanez RB924 CS (Cherry Sunburst) From my favourite era of Ibanez shapes, this has tow passive pickups, master volume, pan, passive tone and three way switch which I seem to recall does parallel / series and some other option. It makes a difference !! Pickups look like soap bars, but are double J and P when you look at the pole pieces. The sound confirms this. Super skinny neck which is very easy to play. Condition is very decent for the age, it's not pristine, but marks are confined to the rear. For sale as something else has drawn my eye. Will ship anywhere in the UK and happy to work out your choice of shipping service. More photos to follow shortly as soon as my drive behaves.

  35. Yep, it's something I'm grateful for every gig: bass case, rucksack, Stomp/inears, my own mix and volume control. 3 minute setup, breakdown less. Given I've got 34 more gigs this year, that's a lot of happy sighing. Oh, and rehearsal/home playing? iPad/Jamup, Sonic Port, bass, headphones. Bingpot.

  36. Lifting up an old cab last week I realised how lucky I am to have a modern one which is probably less than half the weight and sounds just as good/loud if not better. And I'm a bit behind the times with this, but I'm just now moving from DJing with vinyl to digital - I wish I did it years ago. Obviously a digital file isn't collectable like a record, but in terms of DJing it is much more versatile and practical.

  37. Yep. I've not owned a 'full band' PA for 20 years but researching it this week, I can get a laptop sized mixing desk for £500-£800 that can do stuff that Pro studios spent £10,000's on 20 years ago!

  38. Not had complimentary meals but we have had sandwiches and juice supplied in dressing room areas. TBH its not a big deal for me as i normally take a Tesco meal deal with me. I don't like anything too heavy before playing so a cheese and onion sandwich and a fruit juice is my preferred food before playing. Dave

  41. Wise words. For me it’s even worse than “won’t reach”, it’s often a case of thinking I’ve finally attained the tones I always wanted, then something in my brain gradually talks me out of it. Not sure if it’s that I get bored with sounds or that I have a relentless view that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Then I spend a stupid amount of money and the new pedal has to be justified. It sounds fresh and temporarily becomes the pedal which “ends my need for further adjustment of the pedalboard”. And so it goes on, the never-ending cycle. I have two shelves at home cluttered with pedals no longer used. I hope the ME90B is a keeper for you.

  42. I hear you. One of the guitarists and me are very similar in terms of how we strive for better gear and different sounds all the time. But while I'm sure I can hear and feel the difference with separate pedals over good quality digital multi effects I need to simplify and work within the limitations of my gear instead of chasing something I won't reach.

  43. Hurtsfall were supporting US band Spotlights at The Bodega in Nottingham on Monday. It's been quite a while since I last did a Monday night gig, and now I remember why. Despite not having to go on ridiculously early there were still only about 30 people there when we went on. However apart from two, none of them had seen us play before and quite a few people of them came up afterwards to say how much they had enjoyed us, despite the fact that musically we don't have a lot in common with the headlining band. We even sold some T-shirts and CDs which was definitely a bonus. It's a small stage at The Bodega and it doesn't get any bigger after the main band have filled it up with their drum kit and backline, so we had to be creative with the set-up and limited on-stage movements. However for a change we had plenty of time to soundcheck as Spotlights had already finished theirs when we arrived at 5.45, so it was an unexpected pleasure to be able to take our time and get a good balance both on-stage and FoH. Spotlights were interesting. Musically it's not really the sort of thing I'm into but the performance was great and their bassist produced a couple of notes that made whole venue vibrate, something I've never experienced before and which got the PA engineer frantically trying to locate the rogue frequency, after which sound wasn't quite as dense but at least there was no danger of structural damage! 10.00pm live music curfew meant I was back home before 11.00 which makes a change. There probably won't be any photos of this one, but if any do emerge on Facebook I'll post them up later.

  44. On Saturday night I was out with the covers band, Top Deck, at The Holly Bush, Marehay, Derbyshire. It was only our second gig with Elliott (on Flying-V) as our second guitarist . He’s the third we’ve had in two years. The previous one had to retire through ill-health, the one before that we sacked because of his persistent drink-driving. Fingers crossed we can keep Elliott for a while. It all went well although we were nearly upstaged by the bar manager parading her pet chicken (not sexy slang). I used a Mustang PJ through a Markbass LMIII and Barefaced Midget T.

  45. 1:40 Sunday afternoon slot at Home Farm Fest was a bit weird. Most of the other acts were nice n chilled for a post lunch snooze. But we went down well, some peeps got up and danced even though they wouldn’t know our songs. The PsychoDahlias 3rd gig so far but were well rehearsed and getting gig fit. A few more festivals and headliners over the summer and autumn. I’m beginning to enjoy gigging again.

  46. Revision2 ... closer to a flyrig. Much to my amazement (and delight) my M-VAVE MIDI pedal connects over bluetooth to the HX Stomp. Replacing the Morningstar MC6 and removing the MXR Octave (I'm finding the HX pitch shift blocks work well enough for me) means the layout fits on a smaller board (OK, it overhangs ... must find an alternative at some point) and is lighter then Revision 1 (A few posts earlier). The left three M-VAVE switches are tap->select snapshot; the left two are long press -> select next/previous preset; the rightmost M-VAVE switch is tap->tap tempo, long press -> tuner. The VEXPRESS into the M-VAVE sends MIDI to control effects levels. The M-VAVE has its own internal rechargable battery. The 3 HX Stomp switches select effect on/off. I might make something like the Pedalnetics Helauxy Duo Mini to add switches 4&5. Sam x
