The pack down from the #1 gig was hurried to make enough to travel to and set up for the second 50 miles or so away. The musician up next was setting up as we were packing down, but he was injured/on crutches and using helpers to set up (my guess is he knew what boxes were his and what weren't but they didnt). Anywho it got inadvertantly picked up, and not seeing it visible i had assumed that the other guys in the band had loaded it. Anyway the mistake was realised and the chap kindly returned it to the venue about a wek later. Simple mistake, honestly rectified, some faith in (musician based) humanity restored.12 points

A really nice Passive short scale bass in Olly White that sounds monstrous, probably due to the Neodymium pick up and excellent electronics. Mahogany body, Maple Neck and beautiful Rosewood Fingerboard. Very easy to play with a low action & weighs a mere 3.5Kg, or 7.7lbs in ‘old money’ I’ve changed the bridge barrels for one’s that are a bit smaller in diameter to achieve a lower action, as I think the original MusicMan ones are meant for their long scale jobbies - but the original ones will be included if you don’t mind a higher action and want to swap them back. Can’t see any damage albeit with my old eyes, apart from a few very light marks on the control plate which would probably polish out with a bit of chrome cleaner and overall I would rate the condition as being 9/10 - at least. Controls are Master Volume - with handy Push Volume Boost, Three way pickup selector and Master Tone. These retail at £699 at Bass Direct & £749 at GAK so grab a bargain. WARNING - it’s very hard to put down once you start noodling😂😂 Can post to the U.K. Mainland for £25.00 via ExpressAM, before Midday - next day. What MusicMan say……… The StingRay Short Scale bass has the iconic StingRay sound shrunk down into a 30” scale length package. With easier accessibility, a passive boost, and a single humbucking pickup with higher output neodymium magnets, the StingRay Short Scale offers comfortability without compromise. The versatile pickup configuration includes parallel, true single-coil, and series modes for diverse tonal options. Finished in Olympic White. DYNAMIC TONE CONTROLS The StingRay Short Scale features a neodymium humbucking pickup with 3-way rotary switch. The pickup configuration includes parallel, true single-coil, and series modes. *SOLD* Howdy all, Selling my 2021 Fender JMJ Mustang in Daphne Blue, mainly because I’m shallow & prefer the colour of my black one & I really don’t need two! I bought this directly from BassBros earlier this year & it certainly lives up to the hype these models have, as it’s a joy to play & sounds amazing with everything exactly as it should be. The action is low to medium & it’s strung with flats & currently sporting the pictured groovy scratchplate, as in addition to playing it I’ve used it as a model for my plates at GIG.INK - hence all the pics - so it'll come with your choice of plate plus of course its original white pearl plate along with the thumb rest. Alas no soft case, so collection only please unless you want to send me a case for shipping. Priced for collection from me in Bedford MK42 so you can have a proper noodle before parting with any lolly - & naturally chat over a brew too - but if distance is an issue then I will wrap it securely if you send me a hard case & arrange your own courier. Payment via BACS or PayPal plus fees please, & no low ball offers or trades please - or magic beans or golden geese - as I’m good for gear now. I’m behind GIG.INK to hopefully give you some faith in my word & that I’m traceable. Cheers Tim7 points

I had some parts laying around so why not. I put an Artist (el-cheapo chinese) 34" roasted 5 string neck on a 4 string alder SX P body using a chisel and a sanding block. The only "good" parts on this are Hipshot Ultralite tuners and Dunlop straplocks. The pickup and bridge are generic cheap chinese things. I had some CTS pots, a Sprague Orange Drop cap and Puretone 4 contact output socket in my stash so threw them in too. Well b****r me, it's great. The B string is awesome, better than most of the 35" scale high end basses I've had, and it has 18mm string spacing at the bridge, which is my ideal. Plus, it weighs 8.4 lbs.6 points

So after a disappointing gig on Saturday where the JMJ performed admirably alongside my Sandberg Lionel I decided to make my mate an offer he couldn't refuse. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing I'm pleased to say that the JMJ is now mine.6 points

You don't become a famous musician and songwriter with a bit of ability and good luck alone. You get there by being completely driven to do it and working bloody hard to get there. It goes way beyond what the typical person playing covers at the weekend will ever understand, and even then it may not be enough. I know I'll be playing right up to the point when I am no longer physically or mentally capable of it, simply because it is what I want to do, and who am I to begrudge other musicians the same facility just because I don't like their music?5 points

Hey Folks! Here’s a really stunning bass i have up for grabs! It had only two owners before me and has all the right specs including the highly desirable B00 serial number and black epoxy preamp! The overall patina of the bass really adds to the look and feel (if you’re into that) The only none original part on the bass is a possible refret! If it has been done it’s a a pro job! The frets will be dressed in my workshop and a full setup done with fresh strings before it leaves. (I’m away this week so will be done when i return) Comes with a Hiscox hard case and the price includes UK shipping. weight is just over 10lbs feel free to ask any questions4 points

I do a Sunday jam , have for ages , and have no objection to letting other players sit in and use my gear. So it’s not uncommon for four players to take turns playing the same bass , through the same amp , with the same settings … and it’s surprising how different the same gear sounds depending on who is playing it. day and night differences4 points

Been dying painfully this week from some awful lurgy. So tomorrow night's board is ready ahead of time. It's as basic as can be for me - the phaser covering both its own and flanger duties too. No 'wild card' crazy pedals, just the ones I know. Two new signings (chorus and auto wah) getting their first team debuts.4 points

Up for sale is my Elrick platinum single cut 5 string. Its been a brilliant bass... I believe its a 2008 model, but cannot be certain? I've owned it for about three years and never had an issue with it at all. Its gonna be a hard one to let go! Features are... 35" Scale, though having a zero fret feels closer to a 34" scale than any 35"er I've played before.... Aguilar 3 band preamp - Volume and pan and Bass/Mid/Treble - Active/passive and mid scoop switches Lundgren single coil pickups with wooden (Wenge?) pickup covers - I received the bass with these fitted, and am very impressed with the sound. Quite similar character to Bartolini pickups. Having never heard of Lundgren pickups before, I was a little unsure, but these have sounded so good for anything I have needed them for. They are a small Dutch custom company. The main body wings are swamp ash, so the bass is very light weight. Maple neck. I can't really tell you much about the rest of the woods as I am uncertain what they are? I think the top is some sort of spalted maple (or Buckeye Burl has been suggested below), and have no idea with the fretboard (Wenge perhaps?)? Heel tone block could be Walnut and Padauk/Rosewood? Perhaps someone can say if they know? I will try and contact Elrick and see what they have to say? All in all for the age of the bass its in excellent condition... It does have signs of age as any used instrument would, however there is nothing to stand out as problematic? No real scratches or heavy dings... Anything it does have are minor and hard to spot and photograph. Given the cost of this bass, I would ask any interested party to come and play the bass first. I may be able to meet you if its within reasonable driving distance of Sheffield. It will be pickup only also due to the cost. It comes with a Hiscox light flite case. The case itself has a minor crack on the lid corner... The case still serves its function and protects the bass. I wouldn't fly with this particular case in cargo hold (this is where the crack happened with a different bass inside), but for running around day to day from gig to gig it is more than good! I trust these Hiscox cases after 20 years of using them (not endorsed, though could do with being! ). Frets are in great condition. Also has holes for Straplocks (Dunlop I believe?) I don't have the strap parts for then, but can see if I can find them, but they are available online. It doesn't have any traditional strap buttons, so you will need these if you opt for this bass. Price is firm. These go for north of £4000 to £5500 nowadays new. I would consider trades for high end basses, but need some cash to me in the deal as well. Shuker 5, Sei bass Flamboyant 5, Goodfellow/GB Rumour 5, Stingray 5, Lightwave 5, Maruszscyk Sputnik/Joker 5's, etc will be considered as partial trades. Any basses ideally 34" scale 5 strings, but we can see? Message me to discuss any potential trades?3 points

Putting out a feeler for any interest for my 80’s Yamaha PB400R. Bought from BB earlier in year and in excellent shape for its age, only couple of small battle scars to the finish. Only thinking of selling to fund another mij P bass as I also have a 79’ Pulsar 400 in immaculate condition, which I’m hanging on to, and happy to keep this too if the mij P I’m looking at sells. Case not included but could be added for extra and then I’d be happy to ship it in it 👍3 points

Nottingham is ace (at least compared to Mansfield it is). 😉 However considering it's size and the fact that it has a vibrant local music scene, it doesn't seem to be able to produce the number of nationally well-known artists that other similar cities seen to do. And some of the best known "Nottingham" bands have had to move away from the city and ignore the fact that they came from there in order to get any real success.3 points

What does it matter? Is anyone forcing anyone to listen to any potential new Stones material? Is anyone forcing anyone to go to their concerts? No, they're not. If you're not interested stick to playing covers in the local Dog and Puke and be on your merry way. If you don't want to still be playing at 80, feel free to be filling your incontinence pants listening to what ever tickles your what not. It's up to the Stones what they do. If there's still an audience for whatever they're up to, all the best to them.3 points

Finally, I get my hands on another awesome Warwick. A ‘94 Fortess One, to partner my Streamer. I love these things, I had one maybe 10 years s ago, and regretted selling instantly. So comfortable to play, love it. I’ve already got my eye on a Corvette too…. 🤦🏻♂️2 points

Recently bought off basschat but not gelling with it for some reason. Suitable for both guitar and bass, this is an immensely rich analogue synth pedal. 99 presets available or hook it up to your computer with the included midi to USB cable and either create your own patches or download community created ones. Velcro on Bottom, no rubber feet. Has tiny chips on either side’s edges, as seen in pictures. £185 delivered to mainland UK. Only trade would be for another synth pedal, try me.2 points

Ampeg Pro Series PR810H cabinet in used condition. It has some scrapes and marks but still sounds great and is capable of working at sound levels that are frankly, a bit daft - one for those playing in bands with 100w Marshall heads and multiple 4x12s. 😬 It's heavy and cumbersome but it sounds absolutely fantastic. 😀 I'm technically putting this ad up for a friend although I'm assuming all responsibility should the cabinet sell through the forum. Any prospective buyers are welcome to test the cabinet in my live room at the the studio (www.synkronize.co.uk) where it can be thoroughly examined - please PM me if that's you. I have the Trace V6, Fender Bassman 135, Trace 400SMX and SVT CL on hand to test the cab with or you're of course welcome to bring your own amplifier. This cabinet is exceptionally heavy - the typical Ampeg 810e, Marshall VBA 810, Orange 810, Trace 1084 etc are all easier and lighter than this cab. It's built more like a pro-grade L'Acoustics PA enclosure than an instrument spec cabinet so when I say this thing weighs around the 100 Kg (more than 200lbs) mark, I'm not kidding, it's a true monster! 🤣 ❤️ 1200w RMS power handling or split 2x 600w RMS Ampeg rate the cab at 2400w or 2x 1200w Program. The reality is, you'd have to work really quite hard to cause it any harm Cast frame, Edge wound and vented pole-piece 150w Eminence drivers Dual Fostex HF units - both with adjustable attenuators Quarter inch jack and Speakon input / patching Heavy duty wheels and integral handles / skids Collection only from Synkronize Music Group / Sun Street Studios in Hanley, Stoke on Trent. Bring a strong friend and a Volvo estate - it won't fit in an Aygo. 😆 In terms of sound, overall it's a little more aggressive than my 410HE / 115E combination offering a bit more upper mid 'bite' and 'clang'. It doesn't seem to have too much of a 'bass bump' in the low end and as such, seems to give quite a consistent and present bottom - possibly a little more than the usual cab of this configuration. https://ampeg.com/support/files/Discontinued User Manuals/PR810H/PR-810H.pdf Feel free to check my feedback - I've been a member here for nearly 12 years and have more than a few sales and purchases through the forum. Many thanks, Matt2 points

There's people making Fender style guitars out of all sorts of non-tone wood materials, as well as ones with 3D printed bodies. Unsurprisingly they all make usable guitar sounds, and in the context of a recorded band mix I doubt whether anyone would be able able to pick one of those against a guitar with a "conventional tone-wood" body. Also as I posted in another thread recently everyone who has played the Born 2 Rock F4B bass I used to own commented on how much like a conventional P-Bass it sounded despite the fact that it mostly made of aluminium and has very unconventional design that negates the need for a truss rod in the neck. This along with the guitar made of strings between two work benches, seems to indicate that the wood or any other material used for the construction of a solid electric instrument has very little impact on the final sound, and what impact it does have is mostly unpredictable.2 points

My sax player can’t play in tune so why should I 😄 I may just use a clip on tuner, when the pedals make it to practice they usually just sit on the amp as the microtubes stays on all the time and I don’t use anything else really.2 points

I guess it means when it comes to products marketed in this way, the results often match the price point, not what you would wish for. There are however, some exceptions. In comparison, Sennheiser, Shure and Lectrosonics cost what they do, because they perform exceptionally well.2 points

For those that find a standard mandolin to tight on the fretboard but the bouzouki too long, there is the octave mandola, known as the octave mandolin in the USA which seems a more sensible name to me as that is what it is. A mandolin tuned an octave lower. This is mine, made by Dorset luthier Robin Greenwood:2 points

My attitude is they are tools, and you need the right tool for the job. At the moment, I do quite long gigs, need some low notes, haven't got loads of £ and want to leave it in pubs between sets without too much worry of theft and not worry to much about a cosmetic ding or two, I've had a dislocated shoulder that hasn't healed properly so can easily get a bad neck/back with heavy Basses.....So 'the one' right now is a 3.3kg Ibanez EHB 1005 MS and I haven't noticed many better alternatives - if I do I'll be buying them and selling the Ibanez without much sentimentality.2 points

Mmm, if Fender were venturing into, I don't know, oboes, cor anglais, or bassoons, then I'd agree. But irrespective of the different (for Fender) PUP configuration, this is nothing more than two bits of wood that are pretty much the same that Fender have been making since 1951 that need to be aligned with a couple of bits of metal. No bedding in of processes required to my mind. Having said that, it's good to see Fender doing something that isn't a J or P derivative for sure,2 points
