  2. Another discussion @Matt P have had is the best position for the Super Quad. I 'borrowed' this very useful photo off a Google Search (and many thanks to whoever originally posted it ) The actual distances, of course, have no relevance, but the proportion of the saddle to mid point of the pickups to the full scale does, to an extent. We've plumbed for the standard 'P' position which should sit in a decent vibration point pretty much all the way up the fret positions. Happily, that's also pretty much bang on where Matt's 'it looks right here' original sketch had it So it will be here: And THAT means I could then forstner, chisel and rout out the chamber for the pickup. Note the additional rout for the connector block to sit: And THAT means that tomorrow I can start the top and edges carve tomorrow and - if the day goes to plan - glue on the fretboard too

  3. MusicMan Stingray Classic 4 2EQ Vintage Burst, Birds Eye Maple Neck (No Trades) Located in Manchester Beautiful bass, currently out of production, a childhood dream infact was fulfilled by owning one. Alas its time to move on and pay off some bills. Bass functions 100%, everything works and all electronics (pre-amp and pickup) are stock Was setup last month by guitar repair workshop in PMT Manchester. I have included a ton of extras, (see pic) Polytuner, Pickguards, Pickup cover, Strap, Fender Cable, Extra foam mutes. Has one small dent on the front above the arm rest and common surface wear scratches on the lacquer on the back and corners of the bass. Neck has a thin folded piece of sandiing paper i put in as a shim as I play with super low action. The stringray class by design has a limit on how low the bridge scews can go, a shim was my way around this. Looking to post in the UK as a family member is extremely vulnerable to covid 19, can't have anyone over. 5. Last bump at £2300 inc U.K. delivery before it goes to Bass Gallery. Sale preferred. Roll up roll up, everything must go 😂😂 Ok so this is out of my secret stash of basses I thought I’d never sell. My 1975 Gibson Ripper. What a machine ( I have 3 )! Obviously an iconic bass used by Krist Novocelic of Nirvana, Gene Simmons et al these basses are killer. Bill Lawrence designed Super Humbuckers with 4 way pick up selector all fully working and adjusts easily. The tonal options are fantastic, it’s not a one trick pony! Frets are good and neck is sublime. It’s been used so shows signs of wear of course, it’s a bloody 46 year old rock machine! All completely original and no neck issues. The pick guard I would say is a replacement but it’s pretty damn good. Strung with DR Sunbeams, I forget which. Weighing in at a mental 3.55kg and comes with an original case. You choose from blood red or sexy purple. Collection available and all test drives welcome. I can ship in the U.K. with my man with a van. This means it arrives in one piece! Sale only and no trades thanks.

  7. Also worth reiterating (because you’d be surprised how many people do this...) a “standard” Jack-Jack guitar cable is NOT the same as a Jack-Jack speaker cable. Do not use an instrument cable for a speaker connection.

  8. Body wings are roughed out, I'll be getting these on the sander tomorrow to neaten them up, excited to start some of the carving on the wings and get the cavities started, I'm going to be doing as much as possible with the wings before gluing them on, learned during other builds it's so much easier to carve when they're not part of the bass! No photos of it but I have taken the neck down to final thickness and mapped where I will do the carving to blend in the wings but that will be done when the wings are glued on! On to the carving... My favourite bit!

  10. I was thinking about this question when I was out driving last night. My ipod told me the answer. Classical music from full orchestra (Holst, Rimsky-Korsakov, Howard Shore, Elgar) to string quartets (Bartok) to solo piano (Beethoven) to Prog Rock, Jazz (Ellington to Coltrane to Fusion to William Parker and Free Jazz), to Heavy Rock/Metal, to a whole gamut of Latin/Latin Jazz. I reckon that eclectic enough!

  14. I surfed onto a listing featuring this Commodore Bass The listed amount is $NZD1899.00. There is very little by way of a written description, but there are a fair number of images to take the place of the proverbial one thousand words. So here we go, I hope you enjoy what I've posted here. Cheers and best wishes. Bruce

  15. 2018 Barefaced SuperCompact 1x12 bass cab. 600w 8ohms Has done 11 sensible soul gigs using a Mesa d800, nice combination. In good condition throughout with no tears, there isn't any paint peeling and the feet are in good condition. There are a few tiny scuffs on some of the edges but nothing serious. This is a fantastic lightweight cab, I'm only selling as I've bought an EBS classic 500 and want a modular 4x10 to pair it with. Complete with original Barefaced cover. Collection from Stafford although I'll be happy to meet you halfway if not too far. Cheers, Matt

  17. Now Sold Ibanez SRC6 Crossover Bass VI This is Ibanez's take on the Bass VI, and they made a really good job of it, I know there are a few fans of these out there. Now discontinued, and there aren't loads of them about (I wouldn't go as far as calling it "Rare" like one seller on ebay, who is also currently asking £750 for one!) 30" scale and normally tuned E-E. 10.8mm spacing at the bridge. Rosewood fingerboard, mahogony body, abalone oval fret markers, Cosmo black hardware, and this one has matching Schaller straplock buttons plus the original ones. Nice and light, EMG 35HZ pickups plus active 3 band EQ, works really well for any style. Yes, it is good for metal but it has a really good clean tone as well and sounds good with anything in between. You really can make it sound like a proper bass, and like a guitar, or both at the same time if you have the skill. More info on the Ibanez wiki: https://ibanez.fandom.com/wiki/SRC6 Quite a few reviews on YouTube, and there's a quick demo I did on soundcloud of how it sounds in a rocky baritone role: https://soundcloud.com/adamgx/src6-demo One small groove in the front and the finish is wearing above the pickups, the Ibanez "walnut flat" finish is bad for that, it's the same on the SR basses that use the same finish. I've made sure to show those minor things in one of the pics. It currently has the original Ibanez strings on it, they want changing for something better IMO. I have a brand new set of LaBella 767-6N Nickel Plated that I was planning to put on it and can sell with it. £450 I don't have a case or gig bag for it, so I'm selling it collection only from BD20 / Skipton area, I'm usually able to drive a bit to meet up though. I also have a couple of trips to London coming up in the next few weeks, I can go down M6 or M1 way from here so there's a chance of a drop off / meet up between Yorkshire and London. Sorry the pics aren't amazing, I tried extra hard with them and they came out worse than usual, typical. Writing this has made me realise how much I really like this little thing, please don't buy it so I can keep it...

  19. I've been having a bit of a bass clear-out and something of a change recently. It's now 4 out, two in.... and I have another bass currently for sale - so no more new basses after that...... he says, fingers crossed behind back Just got myself a MIJ Fender Lyte Precision from BC's very own blues business - a thoroughly decent sort of guy indeed - thanks mate I had never tried a Fender Lyte before. What with increasing age, and wear & tear on joints / shoulders / back etc. After having bought my sub 4kg five string Ibanez recently, - I thought I might like to try out a nice sub 4kg Precision. I was pleasantly surprised at just how light & comfortable this bass is. Plus, the neck is a comfortable Jazz profile. The construction quality feels great, and so far, I'm liking the sound. I like a P/J configuration anyway - but this is going to be different, as it's not the usual VVT controls. It has a "Blend" control for the pickups. I'm sure I'll get used to it though. Plus, I'm not normally a huge fan of active pickups - but through my amp headphones, and through my home practice amp, I really like the sound, and I like it a lot. I've got a garden-room / semi open-air acoustic trio jam coming up - so I'm going to take the Lyte along to that, and I must say, I'm really as excited as a kid with a new toy about it The bass came with La Bella Flats on it, and was in need of a set-up. I tried the LaBellas for a day, and decided they were a bit too high-tension for my liking. So I put some new TI flats on it, and obviously had to tweak the truss rod again - but it's playing like a dream now. It's a lovely colour IMHO, but the only (slght) downside, is that it's Foto-flame finish. There's some slight crazing to the finish, on the front of the body. I can live with that though..... There was some cracking & lifting of the finish at the back, where you normally get "Buckle rash". I sealed this area, running PVA glue underneath the lifting finish, and when that had dried, I filled any gaps and secured the lifting areas with a combination of modellers filler and some super-glue powder. I've roughly painted the area with some acrylic paint for now - I can lightly sand it back and re-paint when I find a tin of suitably coloured modelling paint. That's enough waffling on from me

  21. Just dropped in to say thanks to all on this thread. I’ve worked my way through the whole thread and the manual and a bunch of videos, and between them, I feel like I finally have a grip on what the Stomp can do. Thanks to everyone who chipped in over the years, I have used your links and presets and IRs, if only to experiment and understand. Still have to experiment a lot more. But for my current main purpose, recording, I have figured out at least 4 ways to get an output into my interface and another simultaneous one to my amp, plus reamping through the USB input should I wish to. This thing is crazy powerful! I feel lucky I picked up one cheapish secondhand.

  25. Hello, I'm Bruce Gibbins and I live in Johnsonville, New Zealand. My bass is a Behringer I picked up on a local on-line auction paying the local equivalent of £44.00. I've not played bass before, just a little guitar. But I do plan on taking lessons from a local tutor, just to have me heading in the right direction. My earliest bass influence was Shadows bassist, Jet Harris and I would like to learn some of his bass parts before he quit The Shadows to embark on a solo career before teaming up with one time Shadows drummer, Tony Meehan. I'm nudging 74, yet not so old that I can't learn something new.

  30. Absolutely beautiful! Violet and ultra amber are my favourites of the Spector colours and the finishes are superb. A really stunning instrument and I can imagine this sounds wonderful. Really sorry to hear that you've been prevented from playing. I'm sure that you'll have considered it, but maybe short-scale could help? The Spector Shorty or Bantam might be worth a try if you wished to stick with the Spector tone and feel

  33. It might only be 6 channels, but it's so cheap that you could buy two, run them in sync and still have paid less than a new Roland TR8S or Akai MPC One. Looking at the specs it says 96 projects with 96 patterns per project. Does that mean 96 songs with 96 patterns available for each song? Can you use the same pattern for different projects? Alternatively can you copy a pattern from one project to another? Are all those patterns and projects stored on-board without having to load from and external source? How easy is it to switch from one project to another?

  34. Again, track parameters such as fx send levels can be changed on a step-by-step basis using "parameter locking" See manual section 8.12.1. (I don't have a Model Samples myself, but have been a Digitakt user for a while, and a lot of the concepts are similar) 8.12 SEQUENCER FEATURES 8.12.1 PARAMETER LOCKS Parameter locks make it possible to set every trig to have its unique parameter values. The note trigs of an audio track can, for example, have a different pitch, FX send, or filter settings. It is possible to parameter lock the parameters that are controlled by the PARAMETER knobs, and the NOTE and VEL settings. You can also parameter lock the parameters on the LFO menu and the LOOP and the REVERSE settings. For a complete overview of all parameters on the PARAMETER pages, please see “9. TRACK RELATED PARAMETERS” on page 32.

  35. Absolutely, I would have thought that Maggie May would have been completely ruined by autotune, and God knows what autotune would do for the Sex Pistols, I was on the a cruise where they did a cabaret 70's night, the very good in tune singer did Pretty Vacant, it was awful

  36. We spent the last year in limbo waiting to sell and move. Since we got here we've got planning permission for an extension and internal changes so we're back in limbo again waiting for a builder to become available. Due to lockdown we've not been able to get out and about and the weather has been dreadful but hey ho lockdown is ending and the summer is coming and hopefully the temperature will rise so things are looking up. Absolutely no regrets at all. 😁

  37. Thumb in attack position and mouth wide open/stupid face pulled. Two of the Tier 1 "Don't click play" flags, right there. All it needed was a "Top 10..." caption to go along with it and you'd have had the holy trinity of videos-to-avoid signals 😁

  39. I would have tried one out before... if only one had come up locally to me... Actually, about 3 years back, one did come up for sale on a local Facebook "Guitar, equipment sale & exchange" group. I even knew the fella selling it I had even messaged him about it, and he offered me a discount.... sadly, I dithered a bit and it had sold. So I could have been a Lyte Convert sooner. I used to wonder why, in For Sale threads, people asked for the weight of a guitar or bass..... but my advancing years have underlined why this is important. This might also be down to a lack of gigs and / or rehearsals - I'm doing more noodling at home and on the sofa - so now when I stand up to play, my shoulder is feeling it more I stood yesterday for ages, jamming along to YouTube videos and albums on MP3..... and the Lyte felt great - my shoulder was fine. I think this is the most pleased I've been with a new bass in ages, and I was pretty pleased at getting my lightweight SR505 a few weeks back Also, it struck me that the active pickups & circuitry didn't sound typically "active" - or at least to my ear, the P pickup still sounded like a P bass, if a tad cleaner. Both pickups were certainly very "hot".

  46. IME, the MS-60B/B3/B1on/Xon generation sounds better. I've owned a B1X Four last year and, even tho' it could sound great, it was basically NOISIER and BOXIER, had a sorta' narrow response and an annoying peak @180hz when A/Bed with the MS-60B. I could tell this same thing every time I've tried a B3n, but wasn't sure because I hadn't A/Bed it with my MS-60B. There's an added con, the Bass PEQ effect is now single band, when it was previously 2-band. So it kinda' defeats the purpose of having 1 more slot (4 to 5) if I have to heavily EQ it (2 instances) and add ZNR to every patch. Still there's fancy new stuff in the B3n/B1 four generation, such as hi/lo pass filter. BUT old ones have the AC BS PRE (Fishman preamp emulation) that carries a DEPTH param, which is a hi-pass filter (few people know or exploit this). The other thing the new models have is Darkglass emulations. I've had success in faking it with either the DI+ (MXR) emulation or blending plain Metal Zone emulation (still building a GUMA DRIVE for this -and for the fun-). I've given all details about my MS-60B vs. B1X Four adventure in a TalkBass thread. Also, here's a sample from a fellow BCer. It's not the tones I'd use, but it gives an idea of the overall voicing difference between the 2 generations. And no, my B1X Four wasn't a lemon, it worked perfectly and could definitely sound decent with enough tweaking, additional EQ and noise reduction. It's just that the MS-60B naturally sounds fuller and more quiet. Since ditching the B1X four I've added a B3 and a G3 (exclusively for home recording) and a G1Xon. Both the MS-60B and the G1Xon have custom firmwares with all its bass/guitar counterpart relevant stuff so I can use any with either bass or guitar (you can customize the firmware in the current generation too). My advice is get a used B1on or B1Xon (I got my G1Xon used months ago for 35€, power supply included).

  47. PRICE DROP - = £1100 For sale is my Xotic XJPro - 01. Purchased in March this year, not the bass for me though mainly playing double bass these days and my other work calls more a P bass, so on the hunt for one of those It is a wonderfully easy bass to play, the neck in particular feels super nice. Probably the most comfortable bass I've ever played, the contour of the body feels really sleek. It has a really nice set up as it so fresh from the shop! It is strung with a set of DR Pure Blues strings. Condition is as new. Here's a link to the Xotic website - http://xoticbasses.com These models were only available for a limited and are discontinued now, so do not expect to see therm come up very often! Such a high quality bass particularly at this price point. Comes with a very stylish case. Pickup or meet up in London preferred but can arrange postage within UK. Would be interested in trades for Fender P's (preferably early 70's).
