Beautiful classic bass in great condition. Bought from Jay-Syncro of this parish last year, superb instrument but my dream bass arrived shortly after so this is not getting much playtime and time to pass it on to someone who will give it the attention it deserves. Here's what Jay wrote: "A lovely 80's made in Japan Ibanez Musican bass complete with a Hiscox flight case. This bass is extremely well built and features neck through construction, 24 fret ebony board, lightweight hardware and active electronics. It plays wonderfully with a recent set of Ernie Ball flats and a med/low action. It sounds great! Bad points are it has some superficial lacquer checking/dings/missing finish etc but nothing out of the ordinary for an instrument that has been used for 40 years or so! Also the bridge pickup seems to have a lower output than the neck for some reason. With the pickup pan pot balanced or favouring the neck you'd never notice it, but mentioning for clarity. I have considered modernising the pickups/preamp but IMO it sounds great as it is. A wonderful instrument." The bass is as above, photos attached show the condition and some zooms on the dings. Hi guys, I bought this on a total whim last week. Its a gorgeous thing, nice Japanese build quality, 32" scale. However after playing it over the last week I've come to realise I prefer my full scale / full size basses so I'm going to move it on again. Yes, I'm a shameless bass tart. It really is quite small --- the body is pretty much the same as a Les Paul Junior (guitar) and from the top of the headstock to the bottom of the body its not much different in size to my acoustic guitar. "the internet" doesn't know very much about these---there's a thread on here from a few years ago where someone went "does anyone know anything about these?" and the answer was "no, but they look cool". Pretty sure they were Japanese domestic market only which would explain that. Given the age there are a couple of dents in the finish, I think the worst one is the one on the lower horn, which I have tried to photograph. Yours for £325 collected. I received this full-fat 120W valve amp from Handbox in August 2022. A combination of my then-band being put on ice and my more recent goth band only ever using supplied backline means it has never left my house, not even for a practice session. Its too good to have sitting around, plus the cash would come in handy. Comes with around c.£80 of extras, namely a custom padded gig bag/cover and a DI attenuator cable (which I bought 'just in case'). Not that keen on shipping given the weight (16kg/35.3 lb) and risks of valves being unseated/damaged by heavy-handed couriers. Aguilar's classic original design which put them on the map. Extremely versatile and musical preamp, which has been part of my high headroom rig for years. The DB 680 has two fully parametric EQs, (not semi-parametric), for complete tone shaping possibilities, a tube driven resonance circuit, tube effects loop, and variable balanced outputs. For the road, there’s a great sounding crossover, -40 pre and post-eq outputs for the mixing console and footswitchable (foot switch not supplied) inputs and master mute (leaves tuner input on for silent tuning). The chassis of the DB 680 is steel, and can withstand the bumps and grinds of a tour. Most importantly, the ten tube stages make for a sweet, warm tone and smooth feel beyond compare! PRICE DROP - £450 posted I bought this thinking that a small headless bass might a nice thing to have around; I've since bought an ACG that does the same job so sadly I have to part with the Ibanez. The Ibanez Axstar is a fairly rare beast in the UK. In my opinion it's one of the best wooden small bodied, headless basses of the era, similar to the Yamaha BX-1 in quality. It's pure 1980s in looks, it could be a prop from Total Recall or some similar 80s sci-fi. But the body shape is extremely ergonomic - it hangs in just the right place when standing up with no neck dive, and it also sits comfortably on your lap, unlike many basses of this type. Access high up the fretboard is superb. From the original brochure, the bolt-on neck is 3-piece maple, fretboard is rosewood and body is basswood. 34" scale. Twin passive humbuckers and a fairly chunky and industrial bridge and tuning mechanism. With worn-in strings, you basically tune it about once a month, if that - it's incredibly stable. You can use standard 34" strings. The truss rod turns smoothly and does its job. The neck is pretty skinny, 17mm string spacing at the bridge tapering to 11mm at the nut. Weight is just 3kg, because it's got such a small body, but it feels very solid and well-built. It's evidently been played a lot since the 80s and the body has quite a few dings and scratches and one chip through to bare wood. I've tried to show this in the pictures. The sound is very fat and rich, with the humbuckers giving pretty high output. There's a volume control for each pickup and a passive tone control - in all honesty the tone control isn't dramatic in effect. It would be perfect for 80s funk, but with the treble rolled off it would also be superb for reggae / dub, it's got this huge, solid sustain to it. It would be an absolute beast played with a pick for metal, with some distortion. I'm selling it with a good quality, almost new gig bag from Thomann which makes for a very neat, small package. You could take it as hand luggage on a plane just by paying for a large cabin bag - in the case it measures 109 x 29 x 13cm, whereas Easyjet allows up to 117 x 38 x 30cm for a large cabin bag. Happy to post it for £20, or collect from Bristol. Here's someone playing one better than I would, and giving a good impression of the tone.

I have a spotless V4 sitting around doing nothing. I've always wanted one, got one and now don't use it. It just sits in my back room looking fab. Yes, it has the little pre amp valve light thingy... Collection only or reasonable meet up distance.

It is heavy, so an ergonomic case does help.
