  1. I have a USA Jazz deluxe 5 and have played a couple of Sandbergs. Tbh, I haven’t seen a quality issue with the Jazz, definitely nothing that stands out as an issue compared to Sandberg. I have also played a Mike Lull and a Sadowski, and again, can’t see much of a difference with my Jazz. However… the deluxe preamp could have been better. I swapped mine out for a John East Retro and suddenly the bass came to life. I am sure I could do the same with the pickups but there isn’t really a need. The Sandberg I have played has a Darkglass pre in it. It is great, but I think there is more control with the John East. Swings and roundabouts I guess. I wouldn’t be put off by perceived quality control, until you see one and play one and hear one, it’s just someone else’s opinion.
  2. I had a similar issue with a DI from a guitar amp, I put a mic on it and it sounded so much better. The cab plays a big part in the guitars tone. Saying that, I wish he had a modeller like an HX stomp. I mixed sound for a band last week and the guitarist had one, he sounded awesome! I found the KZs to be too trebley, so I tried rolling some top off on the aux channel. i also found that with a P2, reducing the output of the aux and turning the P2 up helped with reducing hiss. I think the bass will always be a bit pants in IEMs, so I have compensated but still having my amp on on stage. I don’t really like IEMs, but regardless of this, it is a HUGE improvement on playing with monitors, especially in smaller venues where wedges fill the room with a loud drummer.
  3. I have only played through a One10 once and although I liked the tone at normal volumes, when it was pushed, I found it ran out of headroom. I didn’t try it for long or in a band situation, but I felt it needed more. I can imagine that playing through two or a Two10 would be plenty loud and sound amazing. I was playing through a quilter bb800. I subsequently bought a Super compact, as I only wanted 1 speaker cab to carry about and for that to be light and easy to move. My friend has the super twin, which although sounds great, seemed less convenient to move about. I have found the Super Compact to be spot on. It is so loud that you won’t need two unless you are in a very loud band with no PA support. If you are happy to dial in your tone through amp eq rather than use native cab tone, a Super Compact might just do the trick if you want a very loud single speaker cab, although I would love another to sit on top, just for the hell of it! Until you use these things, you will never know really. Good luck!
  4. I can provide an update. I have tried the P2 into 4 different line level sends. One on the back of my Quilter Bass Block, one on the back of a Yamaha DXR15, out of the main left from a soundcraft analogue mixer and also the xr18. All of these did not have anything that could make noise connected to them other than their own hiss. I get hiss with all of them, but at a variety of levels. I have also tried a different P2 and it does the same. I have however tried a PM1 which is passive and there is no noise but quieter. I can only assume it is the amplifier in the P2 that is noisy and that this is exaggerated by the brightness of the KZ ZS10 Pros. I am just going to use my Shure SE16s as I can’t hear the hiss so loudly. I could just use my P1, which sounds great, but the battery cover and on switch do my head in hence the change. Thanks for you help and suggestions.
  5. I switched over to my shure SE215 pair and the hiss was much less. Still there though. The annoying thing is the sound is so much better from the cheaper KZs than the Shures. I will play with some other aspects too and check in again. Perhaps it is an impedance thing. Maybe the P1 prefers a higher impedance headphone and the KZs are a mismatch.
  6. Thanks for this. The kzs might be the ultimate problem. I have some other IEMs. I will try them out.
  7. I was wondering if any of you use an xr18 and a P2 for IEMs. Do you experience a high level of noise. I am trying to determine if the mixer aux sends are noisy, if the P2 is noisy or if I am missing a trick. I am confident in setting my gain stages. My IEMs are KZs. These sound clean and quiet on phone, and also with a P1. If I use a pair of DT770’s with the P2, there is no noise, but that is probably down to the higher impedance. Any thoughts welcome. PS whilst I am here, does anyone notice their bass has strange artifacts when using KZs. I don’t get it on other headphones. thanks
  8. Hi folks, Has anyone ever replaced a pot on their Programmable BDDI? The level pot has been bent. The job looks simple enough, but I was wondering what pot would be the best to order, before I strip it down and realise I can’t order one! Thanks
  9. I had another thought. On my mixer, you can adjust the EQ of the bus channel. Check to see what is going on it there. This could explain why FOH is fine, your own signal is fine, but the bus mix sounds bad. What do the others in you band say about your sound in their IEMs? good luck
  10. One other point, if you are using wireless IEMs, make sure the input signal to the IEMs is not distorting the headphone preamp. Just a suggestion
  11. Check with your sound guy where your tap point is for you IEMs. You may find you are hearing your signal after FOH processing. This may sound good as a full mix in the room, but bad in your IEMs. If you want to hear just your sound as it comes from your amp, tap off early to avoid any compressors or amp sims the FOH guys may add to your tone. if it is still bad, ask to see the input metering on your channel and check it is not clipping. If it is clipping at this stage, it will sound bad everywhere. good luck
  12. So I run the sound for my band. We have an XR18 mixer. Currently I go through a Aguilar Octomizer, then Ampeg Scrambler for dirt when needed, then my Speactracomp. After that I go direct to the mixer. At the mixer, I run an amp cab sim in the FX rack. I stood and A/B’d my Quilter Bass Block 800 and Barefaced SC with the PA to try and match the tone and I was able to do it. The on board amp cab sims have saved me a small fortune. Check them out if you have the same tech. there is a part of me that feels that although I care what I sound like, most people listening couldn’t care less. Maybe we all over think these things.
  13. I tried a similar trick with my new SC and my old RS212 earlier with the 212 on its side. It was very very beefy. Way punchier than having the RS212 upright with the RS210 on top. I think I have have a plan for the foreseeable, but will end up doing what most people do and get another Barefaced. They are just sooo good. I also use a BB800.
