What a surreal moment. 19 years ago I remember watching a DVD of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones where I first saw Victor Wooten play his version of Amazing Grace. He was my first bass hero and he played this unique shaped bass that I fell in love with. Never in my wildest dreams did I think of holding one, and now I finally got the chance to own this brilliant Fodera Monarch 4 Standard ❤️ What a marvelous piece of art and a beautiful sounding instrument.32 points

I am selling my Ibanez Portamento as I am on a quest to find a fretless Stingray but need to make space for it first. It is very light and well designed, the piezo plus two pick-up configuration gives it a huge range of tones, from double bass to jazz. Full specs below. I am based in Paris, but travel regularly to London (~once a month). I can post it in the EU via UPS insured at extra cost. Not keen to post to the UK due to the paperwork but happy to meet in London for a sale in person. It comes with a generic hard case. It currently wears LaBella White Nylons but I also have the original flatwounds it came with. Exchange possible, only vs a Fretless Stingray 2 band eq in Sunburst or Natural (obviously plus cash your way). Today's time taken was sorting out the neck pickup chamber. Mainly: - shielding - pickup ring fixing where, underneath for three of the holes there was a void The original chambers were a combination of partial shielding plates and conductive paint. Where I have exposed new timber, I added copper foil, soldering across to the existing plates and checking that all three elements had full grounding continuity. The latter was a case of cutting and fitting shaped timber sections that would glue to the sides of the original chamber for the pickup ring screws to screw into: And double checking with the pickup that there weren't any obstructions, ready for adding the height foams and fixing screws: And that will be one of the jobs for tomorrow along with, hopefully, wiring it up.4 points

I was exactly the same. I got my first P bass just over ten years after you, but I grew up with pretty much every bass player that I aspired to be like playing a Fender P bass. If I was five years younger, then it might have been different as many pros started using all sorts of other basses. But when I was a kid they all played either a Precision, a Jazz, a Rick or a Gibson EB short scale thing - most of them had a P bass It was a big thing for me to get my first Precision in December 79. I felt that I had crossed a rubicon, that I while I may never be a superstar or even particularly successful, I would always be a serious gigging bass player. Forty three years later, I'm still doing gigs with that same Fender Precision...4 points

Bought over lockdown as a self soothing splurge when I was vibing from the Brothers Johnson. It's lived its life as a case queen having only done 2 Christmas gigs last year (because its a Christmassy looking bass), and played at home occasionally since I got it. I exclusively play 5 strings so as much as I would love to keep this its kind of silly having it sit in a case looking amazing. There is some minor marking on the bridge pickup from use (I have corrosive hands) but all plays and sounds as it should. Dtuner is included with the addon that lets you have 2 separate drop notes on the key. Based in Chorley, south Preston. The only trade with cash your way I would consider would be Bongo 5HH in outrageous finish. Test drives welcome and encouraged. Considering the price of these new now, I think this is a fair shout at £1800 I'm not a fan of posting instruments so collection / meet up is my vibe. Timewasters and tyre kicker's, please kindly move on. I haven't got the energy for you3 points -
Like new - good low action for acoustic- 2014 about 3kg. Fitted case nice and loud. Great Fishman pickup with tuner bought for project that isn’t happening so better if it went to a home that’ll give it some play. can post for about £25 - not looking for trade at mo.3 points -

P for me. I love the blurry thud and authority of a precision in a band setting. I’ve had a few jazzes too which were nice, and main non-Fender is essentially an active Yamaha jazz bass. But a P just suits me - it’s a B profile 70s neck, nice and lightweight, plenty of thump and fits me like a favourite old pair of slippers.3 points

I've played on a few releases and whilst I don't get involved in the funding side, I doubt that any of them have recouped the costs. The official line is always that music is an artistic statement, which is a nice way of us accepting we're being ripped off. All my bigger releases have been "critically acclaimed" in the national press but with studio costs and pressing coupled with the fact that people stream everything these days, it's never going to pay the bills. I absolutely hate the fact that the CEOs of companies like Spotify pay artists so little and always try and buy directly from Bandcamp with the smaller acts I like. Two things from the last few weeks that have saddened me; 1) a news report saying that younger artists were giving up on music as it doesn't pay the bills and 2) this latest trend on social media of sharing an imaginary Spotify festival based on your listening. I think artists have always been ripped off since the dawn of rock n roll but the reality is that the rich are getting richer and the actual creative talents are not getting a fair slice of the pie.3 points

Gave my JMJ Mustang it's first run outdoors since I changed flats for rounds. I was unsure it was a good move based on 'headphone' playing but I was well impressed with the punch and growl I got on stage. Really does continue to surprise me how great this lil' blue monster is.3 points

Describe the full signal chain before and after the DI is inserted. The reason for the distortion will very likely become clear. With the limited info given so far it could be any number of hookups gone wrong .3 points

The sample settings for the Bass Driver DI were done with a vintage Fender bass directly into a mixer and near field monitors. The Blend is usually set to 100% since the SansAmp emulates vintage tube amps that have no blend control. What you are plugging the Bass Driver into will have an impact on the final sound. It's best to use the Bass Driver into a flat response platform when you first use it so you can hear and understand how it works. Running through other effects or a bass amp with its own EQ curve will negate the sample settings and the way the pedal is supposed to work. The unit does have a midrange scoop by design and backing off the Blend or increasing the midrange can help if you require more mids. We also offer the ParaDriver and VT Bass DI's for players that want more control over the midrange content.3 points

There's a bunch of bands and musicians I no longer listen to because of their beliefs and positions on various things. Various metal bands who have espoused racist or fascist beliefs, The Who, anything involving Morrissey, and, most recently, Iron Maiden, due to Dickinson's support of Brexit. I've loathed Mustaine for years, and, as far as US artists go, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent can both go and fornicate themselves.2 points

Selling my Lollar Precision Bass Split-Coil pickup, the standard wind one. These are my absolute favourite P-bass pickups, and I have tried a lot of them. They have great low mids, very punchy and very present in the mix. They are just fun pickups to play. I have had these alongside Fralins, and Fralins were lifeless and anaemic compared to these. Purchased last year, great condition, full packaging (inner + outerbox). Some scratches on the pickup covers. These were installed on a bass with a solderless loom, so the wires are uncut and unsoldered. £100 posted in the UK2 points -

If you like the sound of the P but prefer the neck of the J it would seem like a no-brainer to put a J neck on your P; that way you get a variety of tones on different basses that feel similar to play.2 points
