Wel either the plug in isn't working, or Ezoic isn't recognising the cookies or there are browser issues but one way or another, it's not acceptable. I have no desire to erode the trust and goodwill within this community.

I just got my beloved Euro LX4 back from my master tech geezer, who fitted my preferred EMGX pickups. This was my first ever Spector, and for some reason known to no one, I sold it on. Idiot. Instant regret. I managed to get it back about 4 weeks ago after 18 months apart, and I’m just so happy about it. Anyway, it’s now sounding the way it should, plus is now volume, pickup selector, bass, treble. I can’t wait to start gigging with it. Happy days. Cheers ✨

Blimey. So sad so many Basschatters don't get to share their passion. I suppose I'm lucky - my partner knows loads of people on the local music scene. But I'm not shy and chat to any and everyone about music - I met a guy who was looking at the same guitar as me in crack converters and ended up gigging with him. My advice is just start conversations. It can be as anodyne as vanilla, people are usually grateful to talk something interesting. Went to a celebration of a lost friend tonight. Chap I jammed with at Monday's open mike was there, we spent a good hour chinwagging. music is an icebreaker. Please don't be shy of talking to people, especially bands. 98.7% of bass players appreciate being approached by another bassist!

Another fun Jam Night at McCafferty’s in Epsom. The drummer (Paul) is a regular but it was the first time we’d played with him. It was the first time the singer (Vicky) had been with us since May. The 1 fingered salute was in the 1st song, so I assume it wasn’t aimed at us 😀. (It’s the 1st time I’ve used the Vimeo editor, so please excuse the rather uninspiring transitions and text). And I do agree with @Cat Burrito a few pages back about musicians arriving late and disappearing early. Apart from it not being supportive of fellow musicians, they are missing out on some cracking entertainment.

Thank you. As much as I would love to be cast as the hero, I'm feeling seriously pissed off frustrated that things aren't turning out in the way they were supposed to. It's not due to a lack of care on my part, this is why I wanted to trial things rather than impose a change. I'm feeling pretty grateful that everyone has offered constructive feedback and some understanding.

Well, not overly sure just how thin to make stuff, but at least this is now ringing out with sub-harmonics and definite bass /treble tap notes from the upper and lower halves respectively. Then the linings were relieved where the main cross braces will go that will lock the main strength-critical braces to the sides: Quick check fit, looking for gaps: And the old adage that you can never have too many clamps And tidied up: Next jobs will be fitting a bridge plate, doing the first rough-fit of the neck angle and pondering on whether to add a side sound hole or not

On a more serious note : in what way may the BC contingent assist with the necessary financing to keep the site popular and useful..? Do you have alternative suggestions, or would you like some..? There seems to be a consensus that most (all..?) members would lend an attentive ear to any proposals in that direction. Can we (the Members...) help..?

Trying out a setup at tonight's rehearshal for this weekends gig. Perhaps just a tad overkill for a small pub venue. Glorious sounding combination though and another tick on the bucket list of fantasy gig rigs. MK500 + '98 P-bass + custom 2x12 500 watt ported Marshall cab running @ 4 ohms. Lots of cubic inches does seem to make a difference.

What the hell? Have people actually seen the vendor list you’re potentially voluntarily and forcibly consenting to? I’m on an iPhone and I can scroll non stop down a list of companies I’ve never heard of for minutes, there’s hundreds of them, on my phone all pre consented to, and some vendors have an automatic consent tick box that you can’t untick? If you have a spare hour you can untick the ones that let you and suffer the rest. I don’t consent to any of these third parties having my data. There are no reject all options, so what are my options as a PAYING user on this platform? Is my only option to stop using the site? seriously what gives?

I picked up some Bongo electronics. I have owned some (!) Bongos in the past but found them uncomfortable when seated. But I loved the electronics. Our own @Manton Customs did the routing work and all that malarky. New scratchplate, control cavity, battery and pickups. The control knobs are all sorts of wrong, but I will source some better ones. Took delivery of the Sandberg Florence from Bass Direct on Tuesday. It's a very nice bass, skinnier neck than I'm used to (I usually use a Serek MW2 5 string and it has a chunky neck), but the mud bucker has a super cool tone. Almost P-ish but less mid-range and highs. The only slight con is the balance is a bit towards the body, but not hugely and it'll be fine on strap.

Agreed on Cort basses, pretty much fabulous at most price points. The GB5 looks awesome. Also agreed about Jeff. He's an enigma for sure. His playing..... well lets be honest he's a genius. However I was lucky enough to fall out with him on a FB thread a few years ago, where he argued that you absolutely have to have a solid grounding in theory to be a good bass player. I argued that I'd been playing 40 years and knew next to nothing and had managed as a semi pro in the past (although nothing like the dizzy heights of people like him, obviously), learning almost exclusively by ear. We had a lengthy argument about it on the thread, it got a bit heated and I left it alone. I actually met him at a bassday gathering in Manchester a few years previous, and he's an absolutely lovey and funny chap, but he has some odd opinions.

Man's a genius.

Jeff Berlin is also strongly against the use of metronomes when practicing, but otherwise has some rather reactionary old fashioned views on the subject of learning and teaching. Of course neither takes away from his indisputably absolutely astonishing chops on a bass, but I would personally hesitate taking advice from him. That said Cort instruments in general are incredible value for the money, even the cheapest budget basses leaving their factories are genuinely great instruments.

If you use a blocker to remove the tab all you are doing removing the ability to user edit the settings. It doesn't prevent Ezoic or even Basschat from changing the default settings behind your back. The current use of the tab is poor coding. If it must be there it should be a link at the bottom of the page next to the (now out of date) Cookies one. I currently have Basschat sandboxed in its own browser which is only used to view Basschat and nothing else. It is also set to delete all cookies on exit, which has the added advantage that I'll get the privacy menu pop up when I log in and check if any settings have changed. I've removed the Basschat bookmark from usual browser so I don't inadvertently click on it while doing my other browsing. This also means that the Basschat bookmark has been removed from both my phone and tablet, so I won't be viewing it on either of these devices. I notice that neither @Kiwi or @dewww have seen fit to comment since this all kicked off.

Well I have no idea what this site costs to run - but I believe the members here would like to keep the site running I have read that some would leave altogether - this would be a great shame - so are enough people interested enough in keeping it free from trackers and ads - I don't know how many supporting members there are now - I don't know if there is a big shortfall, a small shortfall , or no shortfall - I also think administrators et al deserve some payment - a tennis club would cost more or any other club - this one is for Bassists - I have already bought a couple of bits of gear the people I bought them off were top notch - well they're bassists aren't they - save this the way it is - a great bass site

... I was playing about 3 out of 4, or at least 2 out of 4 minimum. New rota and I think approach and I'm on less, but seems with the only percussionist at our church. Suites me fine as I'm not a massive fan of just a vox, guitar and bass trio. Still love playing at church though 👍

The benefit a side sound hole brings, is that when someone inevitably posts something (e.g. a cheese sandwich) into the body, you'll be able to get it out again.

I only play music where the bass has to sound like a bass, so I've never found a use for pedals. I've tried a couple at home, but never taken them to a gig. Good basses, amps and cabs does everything I need.

Been there, done that. Often gets people straining to see what the bass is, which is fun.

I had them all deselected but as I was checking the enormous list of companies in the Vendor List the save and exit button moved and I inadvertently clicked on the continue with recommended cookies button. So now I have a huge list of boxes ticked with no easy way to disable them except to clear all my cookies and have to log back in. Again. The attempts to monetise this site from guest visits whilst simultaneously peeving off paid members is not something I’m enjoying.

The screenshot wasn't big enough to include that bringing biscuits is not actually compulsory. But don't let that stop you 😉
