  1. Now sold. Thanks for all the interest. Due to the ongoing saga of the daughter's car I am forced to part with this magnificent bass. Everyone knows about Bravewoods, they're truly spectacular instruments, and this one is no different. Having owned various Road worns & Custom Shop relics, a Nash, a Suhr Antique & and an Xotic, I can safely say this trumps all of them. That is no mean feat since they were some exceptional basses. For some reason though Bravewood seem to have found the secret ingredient that takes the relic thing as close as it could ever be to an original. Having had long term access to a '68 Jazz I can say the Bravewood sits way closer to it than any other bass I've played. You just have to look at that rosewood fingerboard, super dark and glossy just like the real deal. Anyway, exceptional build quality & attention to detail, exceptional tones & playability and at half the price of a Fender CS. Whoever gets this bass will love it. Everything works as it should, frets are tip top & its nicely set up with a new set of Ernie Ball Cobalt flats. Bass comes with a Hiscox hard case but I have no packing materials so this is a collection only job. It means you get to visit Great Ayton, a beautiful village, population 4000 and only 6 surnames. It's twinned with itself & most of the locals still point at planes. No trades thank you, poppa needs to eat.

  2. NBD CIJ PB70 99 reissue - a beaut and super light. Love CIJ basses such quality builds, had a PB62 reissue and loved it but sold to fund custom build. I been after a natural PB70 but hardly see them, I just love a natural bass. I had the MIM FSR PB70 from think 2018 and the neck was superb but didn’t like the pups - should’ve changed them as regretted selling it. This might give my custom build a run for its money, got gig next week might take it out. Free set from Bass Bros too - recommend them

  3. Great short scale bass, huge range of tones via the MFD pickup with switch for parallel, single coil and OMG modes. A few upgrades done - now has Hipshot tuners which lowered weight to 8.7lbs and means it now balances perfectly. Also has Dunlop strap locks, and has had a full setup by Chris McIntyre, including a new aluminium nut and a new set of D'Addario Chromes.   4. 30" scale Twin humbuckers Vol/Tone/pickup Selector 22 frets 42mm nut 3.4kg No neck-dive This is a really nice bass, that I just haven't gelled with. It does everything it's supposed to, and does it with typical Ibanez solidity. Even the relicing looks good. I've added a thumb rest, as you can see, easily removed if not to your liking, although it is useful. I can post if needed, and I'm willing to travel to a meet-up (within reason). Thanks for reading.

  7. And sold 🙂 Up for sale the stupendous Barefaced Big Twin T Generation 3. I’m sure everyone knows about these, there’s lots of info online too but it’s a behemoth of a cab that weights them same as a packet of chocolate hob nobs. In excellent A1 condition and sexy silver cloth too. Comes with a Roqsolid cover and delivery anywhere in the U.K. using my man with a van for £60 ish. No trades as I have a 6x10 and a pair of Big Baby 2’s already.

  8. Having started with an Alesis Crimson II kit to begin my drumming journey the time has come to progress to something a little more substantial. After a 3 month wait, my Jobeky Compact Pro kit arrived this week and very nice it is too. Finished in UK Drum Wrap's ultraMarine fade burl digital wrap with black hardware, the kit comprises 8"x6", 10"x7", 12"x8", 13"x10" and 14"x12" rack toms with a 22"x18" kick. I already owned a 13"x3.5" Jobeky piccolo snare, and ordered a set of low volume cymbals to finish the kit off - 10" splash, 16" and 18" crashes, 16" china and a 20" ride. Everything is mounted onto a 3 sided Gibraltar rack Such an unbelievable difference sitting behind a full size kit instead of my little e-kit! Worth the expense and the 3 month wait All triggers are running through eDRUMin interfaces and triggering Slate Drums 5.5 running inside Reaper.

  9. Great little bass - just not for me. Active p/j 1991 metallic blue 2 knocks…not bad for its age at all… wearing official BC KNobs now - light, boingy…cool. postage is an option; no case currently.

  10. SOLD AND GONE. Selling this lovely Fender Urge ii Stu Hamm bass. I have owned this for years and years and it's a wonderfully sounding instrument with IMHO the best neck Fender ever put on a bass. It's somewhere between a J and a P with an oval profile that is really comfy. The only reason I'm selling is because it's 4.1kg / 9lb in weight and my medical issues mean I can't cope with that anymore. Another unique thing about the bass is the pickup arrangement. It's Jazz / Precision / Jazz with a very clever switching arrangement that controls all 3. With the switch at the rear it is just a J as you'd expect, with a balance / pan control. With the switch in the front position it is just a P. The balance control does nothing. In the middle it's all 3 pickups on - but with the Jazz pickups still controlled by the balance. So you can have Full JPJ. Or you can have the neck J with the P. Or the P with the bridge J. There's a great preamp system too that is very powerful. It's 34 inch scale and the finish is far more metallic in person. The bass is 16 years old so of course there are some little marks here and there, but so far I haven't been able to photograph them. Marks you can see in the pics are reflections from the room. I'll get outside later to take some more. It's currently got some very dusty D'Addario Pro Steels on it (40-100 iirc) but I will stick some fresh strings on - probably 45s as that's what I have. I'll finally get to use the Dunlop polish set I got for christmas too! When I got it used at least 10 years ago I didn't get a case or a bag with it, so it's collection only from Northants. I'm looking for about £1250 ono. The only trades I would consider would be Sandberg Superlights - ideally a very lightweight 5 string example, but any Superlights would interest me. EDIT - I've had some trade offers but they've all been too heavy. Max weight for trades is 3kg. So it's really only Sandberg Superlights as I don't think there's anything else that light. I'll try and do a bit of video when I get the chance. ta

  11. Soooo. Had a rehearsal with the Jazz and I can't fault it really. weight is around 9 pounds. Feels good. doesn't feel cheap at all. I will say it doesn't feel like a really expensive bass but it doesn't feel like a cheap one either.. Tuners are rock solid, controls are smooth.. the sound is what struck me.. Sounds like a great jazz bass, and the pickups are really clear, fat and punchy, and I mean REALLY fat and punchy.. I. .. I would say the tone of it is probably one of my favourite jazz bass tones and it where this bass really shines. Way fatter than my old Suhr, possibly because its a 60's position bass and the Suhr was 70's.?.. Neck is a really nice C shape. No single coil hum at all which surprised me.. With all that said on really close inspection the frets are a little messy, with a tiny bit of glue spotted. and the fret ends aren't perfect. The neck pocket is tight but not perfect. But hey this is a sub £400 bass and I can live with that. All in all this is a great workhorse jazz bass, sounds amazing and growly when dug in, really comfortable, lovely neck. no brainer.

  12. Well, the inevitable happened. I managed to resist it when I first played it in April, but it came up for sale today and I am now officially out. Six months is a pretty good effort for me, so I take some comfort in that 😂.

  13. I recently sold my beloved 1960’s Marshall 18 watt combo to a UK vintage dealer. It was shipped to Australia and then on to Hawaii to it’s new owner, Kirk Hammett. ( I was promised some footage of Kirk playing the Peter Green Les Paul through it, but not received anything yet.)

  14. Marked, punched, drilled and de-burred all the holes in the top surface of the chassis. That's a lot of holes! Also fitted the grommets for the transformer lead holes. Oh yeah, fitted the feet to the bottom plate.

Was just reading nail soups post about needing more ram which prompted me to do this post just in case anyone is interested..... this is more about showing you what old tec can and cant do, and bring it to peoples attention as it seems not allot of people know about it, or forgotten about it, maybe on purpose haha, each to their own and all that. There is a system you can get quite cheapish now ( for what you are getting) which i have been using for 20+years, never crashes, it is old, but, still to this day its just amazing, i still don't think there is anything out there quite like it. For example, if i said there was a mixer and recorder system out there that can....... record 24 tracks at 24bit 44/96 at the same time all day and never crash ( in 20 years!) full on screen editing like cubase only easier the desk is 72 channels 8 bus 12 aux out and 12 aux internal with a mastering section every track has its own compressor gate, and range of EQs with full automation going through the desk into the recorder and back out from the recorder back to the desk and have top quality plugins running like..... Massenberg EQ drawmer ADX dynamics TC reverbs Mackie Reverbs and delays and FX Mackie vocal correction suit Antares autotune acuma final mix, mastering ( now owned by Trackion mastermix but not as good) Stereo and mono Delays RTA 31 graphics 5.1 cinema surround sound + a load more the desk is fully automated and i mean everything, in real time and records to the recorder 24 tracks via light pipe ( adat) The recorder, each track has 8 virtual tracks for other takes, thats 8x24 = 192 tracks for one song all on the screen at the same time, if wanted ! Also if wanted the desk can control your DAW be it cubase, logic, protools etc, with everything right in front of you on a desk, And everything listed above running ALL AT THE SAME TIME ! with no crashing, drivers or windows in sight, and all that runs with only... wait for it....... 256mb ram a 333mhz intel pent processor 120g and 32g hard drives the whole O/S on 3 floppy discs. Would you believe it ??? Probably not, yet this was available toward the end of the 90s ! yep, even then, all that was available, no idea how mackie did it, but, it is a great feat of electrical engineering even by today's standards The desk Is the Mackie D8B the recorder is the Mackie HDR 24 youtube them I run one D8B with two HDR recorders running into it, recording 48 tracks of wide open full bandwidth WAVS and i think it sounds great, with more than enough tools to use to get most jobs done ready for release. All sounds great and to be fair it still is, but... by todays standards there are a few draw backs. if they bother you, but nothing to do with the quality of the recording or wav stamping. 1, the recorder is like a digital tape recorder, you can not slow it down or speed it up, its set, you can alter the BPM but only as a time frame at the top for the markers, so the transport wont slow or speed up, this never once bothered me as all my songs start at a set BPM anyway and im happy with that. 2, on the recorder you cant flip wavs backward, or time stretch wavs, again iv never needed them, but would be nice to try, 3 on the recorder you can not create more tracks, they are set at 24 with 8 virtual tracks per track, so enough for the most. 4 if you want to take the wav files or songs from the recorder to your daw, or bouncing wavs or tracks over to your daw, you need to use a FTP link to your pc using an ip address, which i use all the time and find it no problem once set up, or you can just inport the wavs from the hard drive or just play them in to your daw via spdif out as there is no USB connection. or just backup to the caddy drive and use that drive in a one of them drive bays that usb connect to your pc or laptop, easy really.   17. Not long back from picking up the six string from Robin at Manton Customs. The six string is a beast! It is a comfortable size though. It weighs in at 9lb and has a 32" scale. The front is English Walnut and a Yew accent layer delineated with a black veneer both sides. The body is Maple/Sycamore. It has a through neck laminated from Maple and Wenge and the fretboard is Wenge. I play the viol (viola da gamba) and the Titan model is loosely like a viol, especially the older 'festoon' type of Renaissance viol. I will post some of my own photos of it shortly, with some close-ups, but I've got a concert to play in later. Meanwhile, some photos from Robin.

  19. I paid the princely sum of £5 for this Selmer treble n bass 50 from a chap who was moving house and didn't want to take it with him. When I turned up, I was sure he was going to say that he had missed a zero off the price, but nope..... £5! What really narked me was that he told me he left the selmer speaker cab that he used with the amp in the loft of the house he lived in previously!

  20. And an update to the above, I’m so glad I did, the difference was pretty amazing, a real solid foundation building sound for the keys & guitars to work their magic on. Kept out of the sonic space that they occupy nicely, locking in with the drums in the best way. Coupled with our guitarists new Tremonti amp the band has never sounded as good.

  21. I sold a blue Ric 4003S a few years back to a lovely chap who lived out past Cardiff. We agreed to meet at one of the service on the M4 to hand it over. He was telling me that having recently lost his cherished blue 4003 while touring the US (fortunately recovered) he wanted to buy a spare to use for overseas tours in case it happened again. Turned out it was Paul Gray from Eddie and the Hotrods/ The Damned. Nice guy. He said he was going to use the bass the following day for a gig in Bath/Bristol (can't remember) but my friend was going to it and told me she'd take a pic for me. He was true to his word so I'm glad it went to a good home 😊

  23. I’m so excited! I’ve wanted a Status carbon neck for ages and I bagged a bitsa Jazz with Seymour Basslines, John East pre, Gotoh tuners - and a Status neck!!! The body is a spalted thing that I’m not keen on so I’ve ordered an Allparts vintage white body and a Babicz bridge. Pics to follow!!

Unless you're American, in which case it's aluminum. And the wiring uses sodder. Some would argue that this ^ is their good side, but actually I prefer Specs? You want specs? https://www.alusonic.com/aluminium-cabinets.php The reason they are so stylish is because they're Italian, made in Italy by Italians. They were already appallingly expensive before Brexit. Now they're even more appallingly expensive. But because I'm such a friend of Basschatters, I'm listing the one with the tweeter at the same price I paid. Note that this only really helps you if you're a British Basschatter. Can I offer my condolences to all the Basschatters who are forced to live in warm, sunny countries which aren't governed by Boris Johnson? ***EDIT *** SOMETHING SEEMS TO HAVE CHANGED. The carry-handles are a nice touch. Those Italian designers clearly know a thing or two. That nasty nick in the back of the tweeter cab was already there when I bought it. It's still there. A lovely instrument at a pretty crazy price (IMO) - these were £2195 when in production and the case is and additional £100. Unfortunately, this has to be (distanced) collection in East Manchester - I can't lift to pack or ship. Please note this is of necessity a UK only sale - there’s a lot of rosewood in the bass and I can’t verify species or source for any CITES declaration. Absolutely rock-bottom price. I got this on a great deal I'm passing it on. This Gillett model retailed for £2195 when the basses were in production. This is the J pickup only version. The wood working is just extraordinary. I showed the bass to a carpenter mate and he really couldn't work out how some of the jointing and carving had been achieved. A lot of hand-carving by the look of it. Closest sound to an upright I've heard, especially when played close to or over the board. It's a bit spooky. The images (in original ad) make any cosmetic marks look rather more dramatic than they are (cosmetic condition really is very good indeed). Hardware is phenomenal (it's very light though I've no idea of the materials) and a lot of it bespoke to the bass as far as I know. Playability is very good too: I had the bass fully set-up to my taste on receipt. Comes with a truly lovely snakeskin (effect) hard case with a very plush white interior. As above, collection in Manchester only I'm afraid (and socially distanced) as a result of the surgery. Any questions, please just ask.

  30. Hi, The time has come for me to part ways with some of my collection of lovely Warwick basses. These instruments get occasionally played/cleaned and waxed/returned to their classes, and deserve to go to someone who will give them the play time they deserve. After owning a few other thumbs (limited 03 & 06, 98nt) I finally got the “one” I was looking for. This bass is the lightest thumb I have played with the thinnest/fastest neck which plays and sounds great. I bought this bass from the original owner on eBay.de, and the instrument is in excellent original condition except for some blemishing of the paint on the bridge which does not affect its function or the playability. A couple of years ago I had the frets crowned/levelled and the bass set up by Chris Eccleshall guitars, and there is plenty of life left on the frets. Everything else on the bass works as expected. I wrote to Warwick about the spec for the bass and had a prompt reply from H.P. Wilfer, see below.   41. If it's a full-band compressor in the path, then I might try the HPF first so that it can filter unwanted subsonic frequencies from hitting the compressor and overwhelming it's control circuit. Now this may or may not be the case as some compressors have suitable filtering / side-chain circuits that ignore sub frequencies, but there are many that don't.

  44. Kind of. Firstly I want to say I bought the bass through Merchant City Music in Glasgow, or Guitar.co.uk as they are known online, and they are dealing with the problem perfectly. It's not sorted yet but they're offering plenty of options. I hate complaining to a shop like this as I always feel like they probably think I'm trying it on, it's quite the opposite as I'll happily sort any little issues myself but this is quite bad, and I really didn't expect it on a higher end Yamaha. They're usually bang on. I sent the seller some pictures and videos of the finish but it's really hard to show a problem in clearcoat, the camera either focuses on the woodgrain or the reflections of the surroundings. This is the email I got back. Hi, I have spoken to Yamaha today to ask for an opinion and some assistance with this and am just awaiting a reply. The bass in this finish is out of stock at the moment and it looks as though the next available stock is due around beginning of September at the earliest, so seeking a replacement could be a little bit of a wait, but it is something we could make arrangements for. The best alternative we have in stock is the Black version. We can of course collect the bass and cancel down the order within the first 14 days if that seems to be the best thing to do. As the issues do not affect the functioning of the bass itself though, do you think if there were any scope for a discount to compensate that it would help in keeping hold of the bass as is? Thanks, Paul I can't ask for more than that! So not sorted yet, but it will be one way or another. 🙂👍
