Buy it. Take out all the electronics and replace them with expensive ones. Have it defretted. Then realise the true meaning of "don't need" and "can't play" with the added sting of it no longer being a bargain. That's what I would do!

TBF I'm a bit dissapointed that several BC members seem to be seriously advocating pulling out of a contract you've committed yourself to. If it was another BC member you'd stiffed (might yet be for all anybody knows) I'll bet it would be a different story. 'Man up, pay up and deal with it' would be my advice.

I don't understand why you put a bid in if you didn't want to buy it. You saw the reserve wasn't met, thought you'd be "safe" with a low bid and ended up winning. What were you trying to achieve? Time to man up and pay the bill, if you don't like it then just sell it. The other members here advocating people pulling out of paying to get of having to buy the thing is a bit sad to see. Dreamers and fantasy buyers who can't or dont actually come up with the money are a total pain, the seller shouldn't have to have their time wasted.

It is a legal contract, so as others have said the best thing is to buy it then flog it later. The financial loss should be small, the grief from the missus will abate, you won't have p-d off the sellerand your conscience will be clear. The latter is worth a lot .

The right thing to do is buy it as you made an 'offer/contract' with eBay/seller. Play it, if you like it keep it. If not, sell it. If you pay via your credit card, you have a month to sell it/settle your bill. I doubt the financial hit will be too great. Do the right thing, it will make you feel better.

Decide not to go with the aluminium angle, as it would take me a couple of evenings to do. I don't have the time and more importantly, I can't be bothered. I've started working on the blanking plates instead, which gets this project near completion. Drilling the wood brackets first has prevented splitting, so all is good. Have given an initial black spray and when I do the next coat, I'll make sure I spray the screws as well.

I do think when it comes to prepping for a gig that far too many bands worry about the songs first and foremost. I think they are just a fragment of the whole. What so often gets lost in inexperienced bands is the other bits that are super important things like:- How to transition between songs How to perform, not just play songs How to cope with the inevitable pink torpedo ups during songs, whether that is equipment malfunction or pilot error How to engage the audience during the set, which breaks down to:- How to engage the audience during songs How to engage the audience between the songs All of this can and should be rehearsed, that is what rehearsal time is for, not simply playing toons together and rocking out. IMO.

I paid £200 for a lower spec 5 string a few years back. Sold it for £220 though, so that was good (and that didn't include the 3 wraps of heroin that were still hidden in the gig bag when I bought it).

I got one of these emails on a burner account I used for something ages ago. I asked them to go ahead and release the video... please like and share!

When I get one of these, I always type "scam" and the main part of the email or phone call title into Google. So far it has always come up with information confirming it to be a scam.

Don't get me started on "Microsoft Support phone calls.....". My F-I-L was only saved by the fact I had installed Mint on his PC, so they couldn't get access to his PC to hack him.

Not really, unless someone manages to insert a script that exploits a vulnerability in your browser or email client. EXTREMELY unlikely unless you're still using a ten year old version of Outlook or something like that. Attachments and links are the main danger.

That is a well known scam email. It is based on the some well known sites being hacked, your passwords acquired and then the hope that you still use the same password now to fool you into thinking they have hacked your system (PS change your passwords). Keep your AV engine up to date (free ones are available) and I recommend the installation of at least a basic software firewall (WIndows comes with one now, Linux always has).

I'm mostly into various styles of rock and metal, but enjoy many styles of music. Hiphop and rap are well outside my comfort zone though. And yet, a producer friend once asked me to play bass on an album by a rapper friend of his... And actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I've always played in bands that are somewhere within the very large venn diagram of musical styles that I will listen to, but I'd say that few of them have been the sort of music that would feature on my Desert Island Discs list. All sorts of rock/punk/metal, which I do like, but even when doing originals in bands that I've formed, I can only think of two that were exactly to my favourite tastes. The last lot I played with were a very technical death metal band, not a genre I have played before, and I joked that there might not be very many transferable skills to help with my UEB playing, and got a semi-serious lecture from the drummer about how you should be able to learn from playing all different types of music, and be able to apply different techniques even if it doesn't seem like an obvious fit at the outset. He had a very good point. Then last week someone asked me if i wanted to join his reggae band... I politely declined. Not because I hate reggae (although it would be on the very outer reaches of my venn diagram...I have a few Bob Marley albums and UB40's first LP, and i only really like one track from that) but because white men playing reggae badly is one of the worst musical crimes on the planet In fairness, he only asked me because he wants to form a reggae band and doesn't know any other musicians

It sucks that Tech 21 stuff is so expensive in the UK but fortunately I'm on holiday in the States at the moment and my YYZ should be arriving this week!!! When I get back to Blighty, I'll do a vid and share my thoughts. The videos I've seen sound very good and very much like geddy... But that's from one guy who is specifically trying to sound like geddy. I'll see how it fares when not using jazz basses or Ric's. My Gibson LP DC Tribute bass is about as far away from Geddy as I can get and if I think the YYZ sounds great with that, then winner, winner, chicken dinner. If not, then I'm sure it will love my Ibanez.
