Not had this very long at all but we just aren’t getting enough time together. This is an absolutely mint, pristine, as new 2018 MusicMan Caprice Bass in diamond blue. Only just taken the plastic off the scratch plate so even that is mark free. This is a passive bass with p and j position humbuckers. The passive sound is very flexible and it’s easy to find a good sound in the mix - however I haven’t had the chance to get this honed down has its only been used in a couple of rehearsals at the studio. I’ve reduced the bass to a very reasonable £1150, I have a dealer offer at this level so this is as low as it goes. Apologies on the pooh quality of the iPad piccies, unfortunately no natural light in the frozen North at this time of year. I’d prefer a meet up as I don’t trust the post around the silly season, but will entertain travelling up to a radius of around 50miles around Sheffield. Unfortunately UK sale only.... Edit, forgot to mention, these are very lightweight for a MM, this one comes in around 8lbs on my digital scales.4 points

Bugger me, that's an uncanny resemblance. Has it finally come full circle: that Fender have started copying other people's copies of their original instruments?3 points

Hello. Unfortunately life forces me to start selling my collection of basses.(not all..:) Emperor stays) All of them are rare custom made.In mint condition, I play at home or in my private studio. I love guitars I could buy or order new one's all the time..:) I begin my sale with this lovely Cazpar made specially for me by Mensinger company I wanted to have short scale bass I could travel with or play at home when I don't have much space, or jam with friends with more comfort. This is the same bass You can spot on their site. It has blue LED's (It was very difficult to made this option in set in headless bass type- and wasn't cheap.. ) Best Delano preamp, headless ABM bridge, Delano pickups, all made in satin finish..You can feel the heart of guitar..:) Everything totally handmade....that's why I love Mensinger . Quality found in boutique guitars. Highly reccomend it. Specs are: Body: ash Neck: Padouk/Wenge Fingerboard: wedge, short scale,22 frets Blue LED with brightness control switch Construction: set in Pickups: Delano Electronics: active - Delano sonar 3 band Finish: matte Hardware: ABM incl. Below, the OG of the Fender Roscoe Beck Model, if not mentioned beforehand. My STEVENS Slant 4, from Michael Stevens, https://www.stevensguitars.com/news/ One of America's best, an original builder for FCS. Michael built the model as a 6-string for Roscoe, later Fender made their variant which is highly regarded. Mine is light and powerful. Stevens winds the pups & pretty much builds by hand. It took close to 2 years to get; I was originally told 1 year, but brush fires around his compound in Texas delayed things a bit! One of my faves, for sure.2 points

Hi All, I am putting up for sale/trade my Atelier Z M265 5-String in beautiful natural finish. I acquired this in a trade here on the forum in 2016 after I stupidly sold my Xotic. (See old post: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/286295-traded-atelier-z-jazz-bass-5-string/?tab=comments#comment-3066036) The bass came with a really nice upgrade too; a John East Preamp with sweepable mid controls. It allows you to dial in pretty much any tone you want (The upgrade alone is probably worth £300!) The bass specs are very similar to the Jerry Barnes model: http://w.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Jerry_Barnes_5.html The bass is located in North London and comes with very sturdy Atelier Z flightcase. Collection preferred but I can arrange courier at buyers expense. As far as trades go, I would really prefer to go back to the Xotic XJ1T 5 string or one of the newer Xotic XJ Pro 1 Models (preferably in Vintage White). Any questions, PM me!2 points

on my list? for people to say, "lets call it quits, I won't get you a present and you don't get me one", it's the present buying/giving I don't like about Christmas, it's nearly as bad trying to think of things for people to buy me as trying to think of things to buy other people, bah Humbug.2 points

I do the lights for my 4 piece band and have found the following approach work well. All lights are LED. - 3 par cans with white light on stands at side/front of stage, one for each band member except drums. These are permanently on and are pointed at chest height to avoid shining in our eyes. We found this to work better than having these lights on the floor pointing upwards. Colour and effect lighting is then to the rear and side as follows; - Colour stage washes on stands at sides. - Contrasting colour lights on floor to sides and on drums. - Moving head lights to sides on floor and on stand behind drums. In a complete fantasy world with no consequences (and without wishing any actual physical harm on anybody) I'd have a bomb put under the Houses of f*cking Parliament. A big one. In a slightly less fantastical world I'll take a house with enough garage space to house all my fantasy cars.2 points

I started a thread on this forum in early October about the weight of bass guitars and why the manufacturers or dealers don't specify the weights of the instruments. I've just changed my bass for a lighter model because I have back trouble and even my 9lb Chowny was too much for me after a short while. My new Italia Cavo (semi-hollow) bass is around 7lb and sounds good with flat wound strings. It also is much kinder to my 68 year old spine than the Chowny. I loved the Chowny but my back didn't appreciate its mass.2 points

Studiospares have knocked £20 off their M2000 open backed monitoring/mastering headphones, now £49, I've just picked up a set. I already had the 1000 (closed back). I could see the open backed ones being handy for my drummer so he won't feel so isolated when recording. Also, surprisingly, there's very little spill from the open backs too, you could easily use them for tracking vocals. https://www.studiospares.com/Headphones-and-Speakers/Headphones-Studio/Studiospares-M2000-Studio-Headphones_448780.htm1 point

SOLD. Aguilar GS 412 reluctantly selling as I cannot justify keeping 2 bass rigs for a few rehearsals and gigs per year. The best sounding and loudest cab I've had the pleasure of owning. 4 ohms 1200 watts, not too heavy at 52 kilos and easy to move thanks to tilt back wheels and handles. In excellent working order and very good condition. Includes a padded cover which is a bit worn in places but does the job well. Collection from Weedon in Northamptonshire, or could meet within a reasonable distance. Aguilar GS4X12 review.pdf1 point

Sometimes I just like watching musicians' faces.... I'm not sure I've seen a bunch of musicians feeling it more than this, but special mention for the drummer...1 point

Hi There, Really great project you did on this Harley, I have just got one second hand and intend to do some work on it. Just a few questions if you don't mind, as its a photo flame finish is it necessary to cut back on the finish prior to spraying it or would a good primer suffice. I noticed that you have given the neck a vintage look on the finish, how did you achieve that. Really looking forward to the challenge ahead, oh and the Herrick pickups sound great by the way, good choice. Brian1 point

Thanks for that TorturedSaints - I've got an NS Design CR upright, with a decent, powerful pre-amp in it. Might just order myself a set of these If it can cope with your Aria, it should be fine with pretty much anything, I suppose....1 point

I'd not go lighter than 145 or 150. That's stupidly low. This is kind of endemic these days. It's funny how bands that are still considered "heavy" have managed it without drop tuning to Z flat. Sabbath were generally C#, Tool mostly drop D. I could go on. As someone who has 4 string basses that I'm not going to replace the nut on just to detune to wet fart territory, I make a rule that if I can't do it with DR Droptune strings or a Digitech Drop pedal ( below C# is the limit) then I'm not interested at all.1 point

I’ve got a medium 5 door hatchback doubt it would fit, only thing that’s ever put me off getting one, 410&115 plus bass and boxes it’s like Tetris but just about fits. Its an awsom cab though1 point

In the 80's when they first opened, The Bass Centre was my 'local' (or near as dammit) so I used to pop in there on and off. But not too regular -- I couldn't afford it!! Personally I have fond memories of the place and most of the guys were usually pretty decent and friendly. I bought a few bits over the years and still have some receipts (pictured) but the best thing I snagged was my Tune TWB-6 back in 1997 (can't find the receipt for that, though! 😕 ). Always had good service and setups from techie Chris Ward.1 point

The quality of EBMM is right up there. But, considering I bought a brand new untouched from the dealer Musicman Stingray HH guitar (not bass) for around £1150 about 6 months ago, and they are now £2400+ (although they do now have a lovely roasted neck) I really struggle with new pricing, and that applies to Fender. and Gibson! Bongos are now £1000+ more than a few years ago. They are excellent premium instruments, no doubt about it.1 point

Not exactly a gig, but due to not having any other musicians to play with (or prospect of finding any) I thought I'd try a solo piece at a local pub's open mic night last night (the wife's folk songs go down well there). Despite memorising the material and having the dots in front of me it was a disaster - my mind went blank and I somehow lost the ability to read music, so the result was horrible and riddled with mistakes which everyone noticed. At least the audience didn't seem too upset by it, so a useful lesson overall. Of course, I got back home and was able to play the stuff again...1 point

I have not played this guitar for a while and can't justify keeping it. I have used this for a few low key gigs and even did some recording with it. I had loads of complements about it .. the looks and the sound I had Labella flats on for a good while which sounded great but more recently it has been re strung with Rotosound Steel round wounds which give it a totally different sound. I am based in North Derbyshire /Manchester I would prefer a pick / meet up. I looked in the couriering the bass it will be around £20.. in fact its packed and ready to go Here's the spec Semi hollow maple body with flamed maple top Maple neck with Indian ebony fingerboard and 22 frets Short scale-length for easier playability Specifications Body Back: Maple Top: Flamed Maple Construction: Semi-Hollow Shape: Double Cutaway Colour: Purple Burst Binding: 5-layer binding Neck Wood: Maple Fingerboard: Indian Ebony Inlays: Pearloid Number of Frets: 22 Nut: Synthetic Bone Here's the spec Semi hollow maple body with flamed maple top Maple neck with Indian ebony fingerboard and 22 frets Short scale-length for easier playability Dual Artec Humbuckers with 3-way selector and dual vol/tone controls Ebony floating-style bridge and 5-ply binding for vintage-inspired aesthetic1 point
