  1. Price above is allowing for a PX trade of up to £600. Sale price is £1550 Probably the hardest to find colour for one of these. Champaign metallic. The bass is mint. Can't find a mark on it. No dings. Anything in the pics is a reflection from the phone. Original case, possibly all the case candy but not really sure what comes with them. Fender leather strap, with the strap-locks fitted, Allen keys, keys for case, Fender polishing cloth etc. Currently strung with my fave La Bella white nylons but I'd like to keep those so the new DR Fat-beams will be fitted. Only my opinion but far better than the Ultras if only for the very accessible truss rod wheel at the body end. Everything works, ultra low action, new batteries installed (2) Weighs in at 4.57 kilos according to my fishing scales. Even still got the control info plastic slip in place. I can't find another in this colour to judge pricing but as 4 stringers appear to be for sale for more or less the same, so price is firm. Any of these on reverb are quite a bit dearer and scratched to buggery. This one has lived under the spare bed for 2 years. Trade options. Feel I'd need to keep a 5 string handy just in case I find a gig so, trades up to max £600 for a 5 string jazz (battered MIM, VM, Maybe a nice SIRE MM 5 string. Not fussed about scratches, dents etc as long as it's still reasonable value for money. A Sterling by MM 5 string would be okay too. There's a nice blue one on here ATM so that sort of thing. I'm not a headstock snob so doesn't need to have Fender on it. Only thing I'm not up for is an Ibanez. Great stuff but just not for me. Ideally pick up from Swaffham PE37, have GB rig here to try it out with, quality coffee and biscuits available at no extra cost. I do not have an outer box for this but am happy to send via YOUR arranged and insured courier.

  2. Strange, as I love it - but I do get the opposite! Now that’s close to the sort of comment I get - that it looks unwieldy or difficult to get on with and a bit “odd” There might be in the fretless thread, but just for indulgence sake:

  3. Selling this as just bought something else so one in one out! Excellent condition with original gig bag I have made some upgrades to the bass which is in another thread but consists of; Hipshot Kickass Bridge (Black) Hipshot Ultralite Tuners (Black) Dunlop Strap Locks (Black) All of these result in no neck dive which was one of the criticisms when it came out. I will include all the original hardware (tuners, bridge and strap buttons) The pickguard is also wrapped in carbon fibre which can be easily removed and is tortoiseshell underneath, there is also a white pickguard too Body - Okoume Neck - Maple Fingerboard - Purpleheart Scale - 34” Radius - 15.75” Frets - 20 Nut Width - 43mm Pickups - Custom Wound Split Coil Humbucker Controls - Volume, Tone Price includes U.K. postage

  7. Lovey short scale mustang bass. Refinished natural, I think it was originally Oly white judging by a little bit of paint in cavity. All else is original. I am really a guitarist that has been filling in on bass so was perfect transition. Small Bass with a big sound! No hardcase but I have something that fits. Collection from Fareham, Hampshire.

  8. BASH NEWS BULLETIN! Got a very interesting PM from 'our' Stevie, as follows: "Here's a heads-up on some of the cabs I'll be bringing with me on Sunday: https://www.lfsys.co.uk . I've not announced this development on Basschat yet but will be doing so during the course of this week (now done, see Affiliates section - Mike). I guess this means that the officlal world premier of LFSys bass cabs will be at the SW Bash😊." Needless to say, I dived straight onto Stevie's website - and I really liked what I saw! Basically, what he's done is to small-batch-productionise two version of the 12" home-build cab project that's known to many on this forum and features regularly at our S-W Bashes. The rationale is pretty obvious: lots of people have been telling Stevie how impressed they are with the self-build cab but don't have the time or skill to take it on. Most of them go on to say that they'd buy into it if someone would build it for them. Well, now Stevie is that someone in the guise of LFSys. Won't spoil it by telling you any more, but suffice to say that they look the business from what I've seen on the website. Can't wait to see and hear them on Sunday! A NEW-PRODUCT WORLD PREMIER AT THE S-W BASS BASH? I need to go and have a lie-down! Hang on a minute, there's chienmortbb's range of cables too! This calls for an extra-large portion of Mrs. Scrumpy's crumble! (Don't worry guys, there'll be plenty left for you 🙂 )

  10. Hello Everyone, Just thought I would give you all a heads up about the £10 IKEA chopping board that has made a most excellent pedalboard to sit on top of my amp, it won’t suit everything but it’s nice to have the controls to hand since I’m always playing around with settings. Apologies for the rubbish pictures, I’m too excited to wait until the sun rises again around May in Scotland. The space underneath is perfect for a wee power supply and gives the room a nice glow (and reminds me if I’ve left the power on again).

  11. Here's mine. Beautifully constructed by a very dear friend of mine. Can't remember what the signal path is but it's not the same as the layout. Much thanks to @NoirBass for the advice when it came to deciding what to put on the board and what order to put them in.

  12. Please don't ruin this thread as well by posting quotes. If you have something to say, then say something that you have come up with yourself. Anyone can post a quote. It requires no real thought, and although it looks "intellectual" it's no better than posting a meme. So if you have an actual opinion of your own, then lets hear it.

  15. I really wanted a thin line Fender Bass, but I thought all of Fender's offerings were just, well, a bit meh.. So I sourced some parts and did my own.. 51P Thinline Precision. It's not bad, actually, sound-wise

  16. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed 😉 ... but I really do like sci-fi and sometimes put something along those lines on my pedal builds. Ghost in the Shell Akira 2001 Dune Moebius B movie type sci-fi stuff

  17. I always wanted to drive the London Underground tube train that I used to travel to school on. Back in those days (The mid to late 80's) they couldn't recruit enough staff because of the unsociable hours etc. Most young lads my age would rather be out clubbing at midnight on a weekend than working. I applied for a job and got one as a train guard and was a fully qualified tube driver within 18 months. The whole thing changed when they abolished the Guards job and left the driver on his own. We did get a wage rise though. I did 34 years on it and took early retirement a few months ago in April. So I did get my dream job in a way. 😊

  18. Bassix EUB (by Alan Hattswell) Scale length 41" Total length with end pin retracted fully to rubber stop as in first picture, 46" (Same as a P bass) Intriguing and very efficient tuning system. 9v preamp, extendable end pin. Will actually sit on a guitar stand with pin retracted. Sounds great. I replaced the strings 9 months ago, (Innovations ) including the set of tail piece rollers which I had previously bought through Alan but had not fitted at the time. but it's had no use since as I also have a 5 string EUB and seem to gravitate towards that. I wasn't sure of the model when I bought this so contacted Alan and was told by him that it was an early Jazza. That design has now changed for the Jazza. Has a few little scratches but plays wonderfully. I'll remove my sticky paper dots from the fingerboard😂 There is no case but it fits easily into a large bass gig bag which will come with the bass. Any other questions or pics required, just ask. Ideally pick up from Swaffham where you can try it out first.

  19. I know from some very enjoyable conversations here on BassChat that some of you (not naming any names) are big Star Wars fans, and I am too. I’ve been feverishly trying to build a collection of Star Wars pedals to make a Star Wars/sci-fi pedal board (a very big thanks to everyone that has helped!). I thought it would be fun to start a thread to showcase sci-fi pedals for those as obsessed as me. I’ve put a picture of my most Star Wars-y pedals below but would be keen to see your sci-fi pedals too! I definitely didn’t start this thread because I want to torture myself by knowing what else is out there, no siree… (I suspect my regular wanted ad for a T-70 and R-1 may be expanded as a result of this). Apologies to anyone else who may have done this before. I’m not trying to usurp your thread; I’m just rubbish at using the BassChat search function. I know this thread won’t be to everyone’s taste, but to those into sci-fi, please enjoy and please contribute. Bonus picture of a Dune themed pedal to get things rolling.

  21. Forgive me father for I have sinned. I favoured the J pickup, and it sounded good. I've just been noodling along to Numans I Assassin album on the new 1100s fretless, and although I'm strictly a P guy, I found myself really liking just the J pickup, lovely a burbly. I don't know what Pino used on that album but I'm assuming his Stingray, and the bridge J is remarkably close to his tone. This is a fantastic bass. And yes, I did go full Partridge,

  22. I totally want that, having had a quick look at MacDaddy's Shukers. Unfortunately, poor quality control means that this otherwise very perfect and beautiful thing was assembled with five strings, instead of the regulation four. Tut!

  29. Strictly speaking, because the Fluence is an active pickup, the circuit shouldn't need shielding - but better safe than sorry: The knobs and inset straplock ferrules have arrived too. The body has buffed up nicely - the stripes are a reflection of the bars of the grandchild's cot: The trussrod is on its way - hopefully with me tomorrow. Main activity tomorrow, regardless, will be drilling for and fitting the bridge earth, drilling and fitting the ferrules - and then, all being well, wiring it all up Then it's just refitting the fretboard and finalising the neck angle.

  37. I had something similar at school as well. I wanted to learn to play the trombone around 1981. They put me in a room, played me The Beatles When I'm 64 and some other music I'd never heard, maybe classical. They gave me a written test. They called my parents into the school and basically told them I will never make a musician, I don't have a musical bone in my body 😄 Thirty Six years later, I've had a record deal, released multiple albums, written a piece of music used in an advert, done many tours, two John Peel sessions, a Virgin and XFM session, various TV and Radio shows and made a living out of it. Moral of the story, follow your dream and don't let anyone say otherwise 😀

  46. On a cheerier note @Chienmortbband I are hoping to carry out some measurement of amplifier frequency responses. We'd like to settle some of the debates we've been having this year such as where is flat on the eq and do all amps have built in HPF/deep bass filtering. It would be interesting to see which amps colour the sound and which ones just amplify. One burning question is are the TC BAM and the Warwick Gnome identical and does the Elf have Trace magic? I have a Gnome but if you have one of the others it would be good to test them. If you have anything else it would all be interesting and hopefully we can tell you for certain your amps response and even what response you are setting when you eq. Should be interesting. Personally I'm bringing an RCF ART745, I'm trying to bring all the BC home build designs to try: the Mk1 12 and the 'easy build 12', other people are bringing the MK2 and Mk3. I'll have the 110T and the House Jam micro cab, a new 1x8 and a 1x15 prototype.

  47. True story: At school I told my careers advisor in front of my whole class I wanted to ve a session musician. She replied, “That’s all well and good Daniel, but what will you do for a real job?” In your face lady! My bass has been solely paying all of my bills for many, many years now and has been my obsession for over 35 years (as those who have seen my reviews know!)
