  1. In the last 5 years I've only seen 2 like this for sale. 100% original down to the last screw and in wonderful condition. Amazing neck. Really great growl. 9lbs 10oz in weight so not stupid heavy..... Viewing welcome and recommended. Very collectable bass. Plenty of photos available of all the pots et cetera, on request. Never thought I'd sell this but you all know how it goes sometimes. Any questions or further requests, fire away/ Based in sunny Swindon. SN14LW Anybody welcome to come over and have a play and behold this serious instrument. I'd be happy to take a couple of instalments for the bass, if that helps. Tradewise, I’m gassing for a Rickenbacker....... Happy viewing,

  3. Played the first gig with my new band tonight,my first gig in 10 years! We only played for 20 minutes opening a charity boxe event, in front of about 200 people. During our second song my bass strap fell off and somehow I managed not to let the bass fall. Apart for that and too many mistakes, I guess it went well. Looking forward to the next.

  4. It has an Eminence Deltalite II 2512 driver (120 quid at Blue Aran), which is what most makers use in their price point neo loaded cabs, so yes, the price is insane, even in the US, where the street price is $799.

  5. Haha yep, it’s 25Kg with the amp. Paul from zilla just got back to me, it’s complete and he’s done an excellent job; the oval window on the front looks excellent in tolex, and he’s put a good sized square window out back too. The V8 style 3-handle arrangement looks perfect! Now all I have to do is touch up the black paint on the head in a couple of places, mount the V4 badge on the front grille and she’s ready for some action again thanks for your help on here guys, much appreciated.

  6. You could just cover the Markbass steel grills with speaker cloth of your choice. It'd be far cheaper than changing cabs - unless you're looking for an excuse to change? Frank.

  9. At the LBGS I looked at their prices and laughed. £1750 for a 4x10?!! Which was 5 times more than the Peavey 4x10 a couple of stalls down. Their pedal prices were beyond stupid as well. It makes Westside Distribution price gouging us on Mesa gear look reasonable. Pfft. Jog on.

  11. They're aware. Aguilar is a small company, with a business model of selling small numbers of high priced goods rather than larger numbers of lower priced goods. They price their gear with the intent of attracting those who perceive high prices to equate with high quality, and there's no shortage of those. This cab won't work any better than one of the dozen or more other cabs using the same 2512 driver that sell for as little as half what the Aggie does, but so long as Aggie customers are willing to pay their prices they'll keep charging those prices. Can't say I blame them.

  12. Yeah, it is. I wonder how the Aguilar stuff compares?

  14. SOLD I recently picked up this excellent 2011 Custom Shop Warwick Streamer Jazzman LX 5-string. It sounds great and is very versatile, however I've sadly come to the conclusion that I prefer the 20mm spacing on my Stage One 6. Specs are: Swamp Ash body AA Flamed Maple top Ovangkol Neck Ebony Board MEC MM/J pickups with MEC 3-band EQ Black hardware Just A Nut III Brass Rock case flight case Warwick User Kit with manual and Custom Shop Certificate This was in quite a state when I got it, and has had a new bridge and tailpiece, a couple of new tuners (just paint wear, no damage) and I put the original MEC pickups back in and had a full fretstone and setup done with new DR Hi-Beam 45-105. I'd much rather trade this for a Streamer Stage 1 5-string rather than sell as I still want to have a 5-string. I'm not interested in anything else for trade. Given the size and weight when packed in the flightcase, and the lack of reliable shipping insurance for instruments, it will either be collection from Surrey, or I can meet at a main London train station. Thanks for looking!

  15. I am regretfully attempting to sell my beloved 73 Fender P bass. This bass was originally played left handed will the strings in the same position. Therefore there is a hole in the opposite side of the body where a strap button would have been. The bass is naturally worn and wears it with absolute pride. Everything is original except the scratch plate which was replaced with an anoxidised one (but still looks damn good). It has been set up recently with a nice low action. there is no fret buzz anywhere and i have recently put new D'addario XL's on it. It plays like a dream. 16. Well this thread was in the back of my mind when I was looking for a new P bass. Found one online, emailed the guys, got a great deal and after a chat over the phone pulled the trigger on a '73 p in mocha finish. Apparently it's a shop fave and they're sad to see it go, which sounds great to me. Even got lots of pics and a sound clip with one of the guys playing it. Great customer service and yeah a 3 year warranty and servicing, outstanding. I will be visiting next time I'm down south. Long live the humble but brilliant music shops👊🏻

  19. I have one. It's fantastic. It tricks your brain into thinking your hearing the bass louder so it's great for monitoring. Ideally you need it connected to its own amp otherwise its too powerful in a loud band situation I've found, and hitting a low B feels like your head is going to explode!!!

  22. Don’t you hate it when sites put and estimated shipping date based on nothing! So far there is no update from U.K. distributor and I have asked. A lot. Tech 21 mentioned on instagram they have a consignment for U.K. “next month” I suspect it will be soon. They always suggested April as a shipping date, they just made that with US release. I’m sure it’s been a busy, tiring and stressful time for all at tech 21 which echoes in their comments here. I’m sure they have been balls out to make the release date and are touchy if people start picking apart a product they are working hard to release. (Not saying we did but just feel they think that from the response) anywayyyy, it sounds great and should be here soon. The distributor gets product through customs pretty fast and when they arrive they will get them out quickly as they will want to invoice everyone after all! We should all see them around the same time. As soon as I receive them, aside from rolling around on the bed with them, I’ll ship them out to you and let you know. 10th May is, I reckon a guess, but possibly not unrealistic.

  23. I can't find any off the shelf but you could easily get one made. Tim at Scratch-It - http://www.originalscratchplates.com/ made a custom pickguard for me, very reasonably priced and I was very pleased with the result. I provided Tim with the pickguard material that I wanted to use along with a pattern and a few days later voila! You can buy single-ply vintage white pickguard material from ebay here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Vanson-315mm-x-240mm-Scratchplate-Pickguard-Material-for-Electric-Guitars/111817601979?var=410802222888&epid=1466518721&hash=item1a08d933bb:g:JPoAAOSw5VFWO7Gi. Just use your existing black pickguard as a pattern.

  25. Fantastic basses, these. Quality hardware, including a metal nut and pu’s that deliver excellent p, pj and j tones at the flick of a switch. Can’t go wrong at that price.

  26. To be fair, she'd already been in Derek Jarman's "Jubilee" with Adam Ant, so her luvvie credentials were already established. I remember bringing my copy of "Sheep Farming" to the school disco and getting the DJ to play "Neon Womb". Me and Swamp and Sgav jumped around on our own while the rest of the kidz stared and probably sniggered from inside their voluminous trousers

  27. Excellent! I watched the recording this morning. I was amazed by the background story to Superstition. Like the OP I wanted to find out more about the artist. Anyone who swaps between spanners and instruments so readily is cool in my book.

  29. They behave like that because they know people will not intervene. If after they threats what they get is the other people around them stand up and mob them out, they'd think twice next time. Same reason why two idiots in a bus can make a trip a nightmare for 30 or more people travelling along. If one person stands up, they rarely get back up. They act like bullies because we let them. I almost end up fighting an idiot behind me in the cinema. Nobody stood up for support and both of us almost got kicked out. It was only at the end that an older couple intervened and told the cinema staff who was the trouble, and the idiot and his two mates were expelled (while making noise and throwing their drinks around). It frustrates me no end that collectively we allow a small minority spoil it for the rest, when we have it in our hands to stop the bad behaviour, and it would not require any violence at all.

  36. I have no problem with difficult venues, its not possible sometimes to get a good sound everywhere. My problem is with sound guys making the BD the overwhelming sound in the whole mix, for every band on the bill, and making it sound like a sub explosion. That is deliberate.

  41. I went to the snooker at the Barbican years ago, because it was sponsored by Travis Perkins the entire front row of seats was made up of people made to go to fill up the seats, they sat there bored as nice old ladies that had paid good money struggled to see over their heads.

  42. Punters raising their voices, gosh. In the sixties fights were a regular feature in the halls and ballrooms. One venue was closed down because, as one guy wryly put it, there were too many dances during the fight.

  45. Seriously basic and old school rig for a Ceilidh last night. Gear4Music precision copy, Carlsbro X100 PA head and a Carlsbro A112 PA cabinet. Sounds OK for occasional use and has the upside of the total rig having cost about £60 Andy
