So after 3 months of waiting it’s arrived, I custom ordered a Precision Bass by Luca at Alnus Basses. (Insert joke about name here) There wasn’t an awful lot of information about them on the web, so set about tracking down owners across social media outlets, general consensus was he made lovely basses. I’ve always wanted a lime green metallic P Bass but Fender custom shop prices were out of reach for me especially when buying blind. I contacted Luca and gave him the specs I wanted and went through step by step with him in regard to colour shades/pickguard colours etc. I liked the fact he made the necks and bodies out of raw materials rather than pre made husks of the shelf, all paint/relicing and pickups were done in house and I liked the thought of a bass being built in a lovely Italian village (My family originates from Italy so this was a little piece of Italy). So for the result, it’s beautifully made and very resonant! The colour may not be to everyone’s tastes but I’m really happy with it, it needed a little setup to get it how I wanted it and it’s lovely. Just waiting for amp to warm up before plugging it in, if the pickup isn’t my bag I have a couple laying around including a Fender PV60 and Seymour Duncan Quarterpound. I will more than likely fit a badass 2 bridge to it aswell which I have spare.13 points

… so had a break from putting boards together (as they take so long and I keep on changing them, I’m sure that’s never happened before on here 🤣🤣). The plan is to have a modular Pedaltrain Nano system, so everything ends up going through the utility board (Red Panda Mixer - Polytune 3 Mini - Lusithand Alma Mk 3 - Sfx Microthumpinator V2 - Franklin Audio Passive DI): The instrument boards are for a Fretless (Cali 76 Bass - DCX Bass - MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe - MXR Carbon Copy): Fretted (G-Lab BC 1 Comp - Creation Audio Grizzly Bass - Creation Audio Funkulator): and lastly the modulation board for Key Bass (Empress Effects Tremolo 2 - Vein Tap Dark Arts (Phaser) - EHX Eddy (Chorus) - MXR Carbon Copy Delay Mini): The idea is to be able to be more discerning with pedal choices for different instruments. I play at church and sometimes want to use all three instruments (no, not at the same time 🤣), sometimes only two and other occasions fretted only. This should make things more simple and easier to move about, rather than having a monster board where most of the pedals aren’t used! A lovely 1976 Fender precision in 3 tone sunburst In pretty good overall condition, a repaired scratch to the back and a few dents and scratches here and there but nothing too drastic Barring the 2 knobs its all original with chrome covers and original case, catches all work with no rust on them Weight is approx 4.4Kg's Nut width is under 42mm Truss rod works fine both ways Frets in great condition with very little wear The burst is still very vibrant All parts date to 76 Any question please fire away7 points

No photos but the seven piece "little big band" packed the hall last night with over 100 people and very few seats left empty. We have had very few rehearsals and only a couple of gigs in a store and a museum where we just played as folks walked by and I was expecting a pretty ragged show but the band came together really well and we even had to play an encore which is very unusual at this venue. We had two vocalists with us last night for the first time and both did a fine job on some Christmas tunes and classic jazz vocals and they also did a couple of duets and the audience loved them. Usual rig, Shen SB100 and Realist Life Line pickup with NuX wireless into a music stand mounted Schatten Design preamp that only has a volume control into a Bose PA and I had some good comments from a double bass player about my sound and playing. I love having that preamp right on the music stand, I can easily adjust my volume to fit the song. The band played well and the crowd was really with us, all in all a very good night.7 points

Hi Folks, Pending payment now. Like my amps and cabs, I'm sure my basses have been multiplying while my back was turned. I now have too many and I have to thin the herd. Up for sale is my Nordstrand Acinonyx V1 4 string in Lake Placid Blue. This one is not from the original batch and consequently hasn't suffered from some of the issues those had, like the dropping bridge saddles and pickups. The headlines are that it is an extremely light bass, with a 30.7" scale and 1.4" nut. Bridge spacing is 17mm. Combined with the slim neck, it is extremely easy to play and great ergonomically. A great bass for those 3 hour gigs.The Nordstrand made pickups are very powerful and it has a wide range of tonal options. It has quality Hipshot hardware as well. I got a bit fed up of the original push button switches for pickup selection and tone. I liked the concept of being able to get predictable tones at the press of a switch but I didn't much like the execution. I found it particularly difficult to select the series "all-in" option. Consequently I had a new scratch plate made (while pearl) that allowed me to wire it up with a 4 position telecaster switch and a varitone switch for tone. The switch positions are 1. fully forward - both pickups in series ("all-in"); 2. front pickup solo; 3. both pickups in parallel; 4. bridge pickup solo. The varitone switch has 6 positions ranging from off to 0.1 uf. The volume pot is now a full sized CTS 250 k audio taper and the jack socket is a Pure Tone. While I was doing this I took the opportunity to improve the shielding with copper tape in the cavity and back of the scratch plate. It is now a lot quieter than standard. I find this switching and tone arrangement much easier to use than the original. However, these modifications can be easily reversed. I have the original electronics and scratch plate, so the bass can be returned to standard very easily but with improved shielding. If you would prefer, I can return the bass to original spec before posting/collection. You can have the new parts (which cost around £130) as well, or if you opt to keep my mods, I will provide the original parts in the price. I have included a picture of the bass in original spec. The bass is in very good condition. I can't find any marks, dings or scratches on the body and there is only one small ding on the neck, which I have pictured. There are a few scrtaches on the original scrtachplate from using a pick but again, nothing significant. It is fitted with new D'Addario light gauge nickel rounds (45-100). I tried flats on it and they were fun but I prefer the extra bite from the rounds. Nordstrand have stopped making these basses in the Far East, so new ones are going to be US made to order and expensive. You are very welcome to come and try it through various amps at my place in Fakenham (refreshments provided). That may not work for many and I have the original box, so can post at buyer's expense. I can meet up within about 50 miles of Fakenham. I am thinning the herd, so not looking for a trade at the moment.6 points

My pedal riser board currently: Schu-Tone Ramparts (Green Muffin w/mids) -> Mooer Envelope -> MXR Vintage Octave -> TC Corona Chorus -> TC PolyTune Mini 3 There’s room for another 1590a sized something above the two TC pedals, so I think that might have to be an MXR or Mooer micro power, as it’s all running on a daisychain at the mo, which I suspect the two digital pedals will eventually not agree with if I gig this setup. Selling my Tele bass, in all used it for no more than 10 minutes after buying it. Its in mint condition cannot see a mark on it, has all protective plastic on pick guard and tuners still attached, comes with original gig bag and the bag candy too. Purchased to try and trigger a push back into playing again earlier in the year but it didn't hit the spot for me, just didn't get on with the slab body. Selling it as I am picking up my Nate more and more, would like this to fund a LB30 2.n. I am based in Ipswich for those wishing to collect, if not happy to send at buyer’s expense. Now £2000 including Uk postage. Up for sale is my 2019 Rickenbacker 4003s in limited edition pillar box red. Unusually for a Ric these came with a maple fretboard. Bass is near mint condition, set up nicely it plays great and sounds as only a Ric can. Apparently there were only 25 of these made for the UK market so it is a bit of a rarity. It comes with the Ric certificate and all the tags too. There are a few very tiny lacquer chips on the bottom edge. I couldn't really see them let alone photograph them but they are there somewhere. They are only the top coat of lacquer so not through the paint at all. The case has typical Ric case single foot damage but other than that the bass is mint condition. Weighs in at 4.2kg. Sale only as I need to downsize due to our impending house move. I can meet an up to an hour from The Wirral or ship anywhere.5 points

Up for sale is my 45 year old 1980 Fender Precision Elite in excellent condition with the exception of one lacquer ding on the bottom edge. Set up beautifully it weighs in at a meaty 4.3kgs, has a wider profile 43mm nut width but somehow plays brilliantly Features are single split coil pickup, active boost electronics, schaller fine tune bridge, and gold hardware which is in remarkably good nick for a 45 year old. Comes in an equally vintage and robust hard case. I should add that it benefits exits from a recent fret level, crown and polish plus it has new D’Addario prosteels. This is the best sounding P I’ve owned thanks to the subtle active circuit. I'll be sad to see it go but our impending house move forces a bit of a clear out. Can meet up within an hour of The Wirral or deliver anywhere (surely no courier could penetrate this case and even if they did, the bass would fight back.....)5 points

I saw that No Treble featured one of G. Gould (founder of Modulus) basses as their "Bass of the Week", intrigued by the graphite composite neck I googled them.... I was met with some genuine early 2000s internet nostalgia in the form of their website - https://www.ggould.com/home.html In this day and age of fancy websites filled with Ads and banners. This hard to read, picture heavy website is a fun change and reminds me of the "good old days". Nice basses too.4 points

Thank you @cetera @stevie and @eude for the super helpful replies. From what you say, the Monza will probably be my best bet as I really don't need a lot of volume and I do like portability. My band is a singer playing acoustic, drummer with brushes and myself on fretless so not loud. For some of the smaller gigs, I even use my Warwick Gnome 300 through an 8ohms TC Electronic 208 which gives me a tone closer to what I'm after, it's just the occasional larger gigs I'd take the MB LM and BF Two10. What's more important to me is clarity, depth, richness and I guess fullness. My tone and playing is very much in the vein of Pino or John Giblin rather than a loud rock bassist or a funky bassist. If anything, closer to Jazz so articulate but certainly not nasal sounding like Jaco. Warm, rich, punchy and clean. Sounds like a Monza is on the cards in the new year. Despite Monaco being my favourite F1 race, I proposed to my wife on the grid at the 2006 Monza F1 race so I guess it make sense to go for the Monza 😄 Thanks for the advice everyone.4 points

I replaced two BF One10s with a single LFSys Monza, for similar reasons. It's been a while since the change and I'm still absolutely delighted every time I plug in, regardless of what volume I'm at! The build quality on the LFSys cabs is far superior in my opinion too, so you'll be getting something built to last. If you regularly go LOUD with your Two10, I would look at the Monaco, as the 12" speaker will give you more, but for me, so far, the 1x10 Monza is way louder than what I was getting with my two One10s. As noted above, you're not comparing apples with apples if you're considering a Super Compact vs an LFSys cab. The crossover and additional mid/high driver of the LFSys, will really bring out more of the nuances from fretless playing. As far as the difference between the LFSys and a BF BigBaby, more like apples and apples, the BigBaby seems to be truly FRFR, and the LFSys is too, yet somehow, it's subtly more suited to bass guitar, it's still a bass cab, not a PA speaker. So in summary, I'd go for an LFSys cab Cheers, Ewan4 points

I have the 600W/8 ohm LFSys Monaco (with 12" speaker, port and tweeter) and it has more than met the requirements of various situations without any complaint or struggle.... Small rehearsals Large rehearsals with a 9 piece band Pub gigs Club/Arts Centre gigs Theatre gigs It is articulate, clean and punchy.... but handles plenty of low end and has excellent dispersion. Basically it can cleanly reproduce whatever you put into it... and I can also hear it clearly from over the other side of my drummer...! It's also lightweight and neatly proportioned and one of the best gear purchases I have ever made. Customer service is excellent and personal too as it is within this community.4 points

Hadn't realised there'd been such a long hiatus... We've arrived at that time of year when if you're in various types of music groups you end up running around like an idiot. Back when I sang with my first singing teacher's choir, I'd have about six gigs just with his choir, on top of whatever I was doing with other groups. When I played with the big wind band, they'd do about six as well. During that time, I sang with two other choirs, to which you coudl add about another four or five events, making about ten or eleven in total. It's not quite that bad now. The local community choir I sing in has three gigs lined up but I can only do two of them as I'm in London for the first one, which is this week. The choral society has one main concert plus a couple of charity events, the latter requiring some volunteers for carol singing. I'm only doing the main concert for that group, which is next week. The brass band has lots of little gigs - at least half a dozen - which vary in requirements from a handful of players to larger groups, plus a main concert. Due to the travel involved, I've limited myself to just the main concert. There is various news to report, so I will write some more posts shortly.4 points

Lovely looking and playing GMR 5 string for sale. Black flamed maple top with matching headstock. I recently got this in a trade, but have just bit the bullet and got a Dingwall 5, so I desperately need to recoup funds and space. 34” scale, 19mm string spacing, bartolini pick ups and good quality black hardware. Plus it has the recessed strap buttons and strap locks. Its active with a two band eq. The good It’s lightweight, well balanced, sounds great. Great flame and great condition on the front, few knocks around the edges, but not bad. The bad There was some lacquer cracks on the back of the bass, so the previous owner decided to strip it back some lacquer and added a vinyl wrap over it in case of any further cracking. Sounded odd to me initially but when you see it, it is absolutely fine and a good idea. I feel this is reflected in the price. Any questions or further pictures required just ask!4 points

Thought I'd found my board's final form, but then the Bassrig Fifteen dropped, I realised I have no need for two drives, and I decided I preferred the Julia over the Analog.Man (probably going to sell it if anyone's interested). It does leave one loop empty, but it'll be a guest loop or.... something.4 points

Vox Humana / ESP bass Nice PJ bass from 1987, made in the Netherlands by Vox Humana using ESP parts. Back in the day they had some kind of collaboration going on where they made instruments partly themselves and offered ESP necks and hardware from the catalogue to complete the instrument to buyers wishes. This bass has a handmade mahogany body with flamed maple top, hardware and neck from ESP Japan. The pickups are older EMGs, and the preamp is recently updated to a new EMG BQC system. The old preamp (don’t know the brand, the board is covered in tape) is included, but needs rewiring. The mini toggle is not in use currently. As you can see the bass has a lot of damages and usermarks. Nothing structural though. The bass plays easily, and the neck (profile feels in between P/J) feels great. The frets show some wear, but nothing problematic. The truss rod works but doesn’t turn very smoothly. The bass weighs 4,56kg on my kitchen scales. Fixed price €700 No hardcase or other extras are included. I've got a decent case available ar extra costs though. I am located in the Netherlands, but happy to ship at buyers risk if needed.3 points

He seems really down to earth and I regularly see him out and about at local gigs supporting bands which I respect a lot. I don’t like everything he puts out, he’s brash and loud but it’s a refreshing change from most of the bass content out there. I struggled with it at first but warmed to it a lot. As for clickbait, unfortunately that’s just how it is now for small content creators, without it you’re sadly not gonna get much traction.3 points

There is honestly no right answer to this question. There is no right order. There is only the order that sounds best to you/gets you the tone you want. While there is a common go to as a starting point, it is normal to break out of that order to find specific sound combinations, because pedal A and pedal B will sound different together depending on which comes first. If you only use 1 pedal at a time then the order matters not. That go to order to start is: Pitch - Dirt - Filters - Modulation - Delay - Reverb Compression either first or last depending on its purpose in your chain. EQ’s place is entirely dependant on what you are shaping with it - are you adjusting the clean signal before it hits the drive? It goes before the drive. Are you shaping the tone that comes out of the drive? it goes after the drive. Are you using it to tame the sonic mess that happens when all pedals are on at once? Then put it at the end of the chain? So, don’t worry about where it ‘should go’ as there is no place for that. Just experiment with every combination and placement, and settle on what works for you. Not many info about this bass, but this is what the previous owner got: "The bass has no labels in it, but I’ve asked around, and I understand that it’s probably an East German “Musima” model from the 1970s or possibly a pre-Strunal Aria Excelsior imported to the UK by Boosey & Hawkes. It belonged to a lady Music Teacher who taught the playing of stringed instruments. She sold it to me as she was retiring and moving to Birmingham, and, whilst she had the bass for over 40 years, she only now had room for her violin, viola, and her cello." So, few marks here and there but it is a lovely sounding instrument, laminated with blond finish. Ultra low action and setup with Thomastik Superflexible. Soft as butter, but if you push too hard will have a light buzz on low B and C. Comes with a really good wheeled gig bag, French bow (old, unmarked, black hair), stand, a clip on mic+external phantom power. Can deliver it at buyers expenses up to 2h driving from Rotherham. Brilliant bass cab that has incredible definition and low end power. It’s in perfect condition as you can see and has had very little gigging use. This will make any good amp sound even better but it works especially well with Genzler amps and other high end heads. only selling as I am using mainly IEMs and only need a small speaker most of the time. These are mega money new so grab a bargain. hopefully I have loaded good enough photos but you won’t be disappointed when you see it or hear it !! IMG_2489.heic2 points

So, a very quick and rough bash with some recording. SRay5 straight into the GP-5, into my interface. Haven't set it up as an independent interface yet. Bass mp3 file - 2 NAM files downloaded from Tone3000 - EBS Bass Rig first, GR Bass Cube second and then the standard finger bass preset the GP-5 comes with. the rest should be as they are described. very much FX loaded as they come - very little faffing or editing (please excuse the playing) - will hopefully give you an idea. The only thing for me is controlling how much FX (chorus etc.) that you can add - no wet / dry mix level - or am I missing something here?? I would have liked a touch more chorus and phaser. But, I don't really need a phaser so it's a moot point for me! Anyway... I hope this helps. It's a great little pedal - I only really intend to use it as a preamp / NAM loading pedal with maybe a smidge of chorus so will suit me perfectly! Carl. Fascinating. I’m late to the party on this one, and it’s been many years since I was in this kind of situation, but the memory is fresh. It’s always interesting to me that some musicians develop enormous egos, some pass through that stage, some don’t. The ones that don’t are often the ones who don’t progress musically anyway - which is usually a sign they’re not that great. They’re the ones who still crank volume WAY too high and rehearsals and gigs, take ludicrous solos (and yes, you always sigh inwardly during the gig when that happens) and generally have the diva thing going on if there’s something else in their lives bothering them which has FA to do with the gig. My take is always to be the coward. If that stuff starts rearing its ugly head, wait until you feel like it’s not fun, then bow out and find something more fun to do. Tell them you need something fresh, or you need a change of direction, anything useful. The egomaniac will know, in their heart of hearts, exactly why you’re going, but it won’t make any difference to their behaviour, and you’ll hear whispers about the whole thing fizzling out a few weeks later. All this stuff behind people's backs is toxic. Some leadership is needed from the rest of the band. If A has concernes, he should take responsibility for setting a clear expectation. Or B could also just tell him to foxtrot oscar and highlight some of A's own failings. After the clearing of the air, hopefully both might be a little more aware of their own short comings and perhaps more inclined to work on their own performances rather than criticise the others and perhaps...PERHAP each could OFFER to improve an aspect of their playing if there are valid concerns from the rest of the band.2 points

I think Mr Sapko and myself would have completely different music tastes judging by his playing on clips, but I find the guy funny and love some of his not-so-subtle mickey takes when he lists people and puts another person's photo up. Carry on Danny as far as I am concerned.2 points

You are right, he is everywhere, all over youtube and all over here. If I never saw a video with his face on it again it would still be too soon. While I find it hard to accept the idea of hating someone you don't know, he is someone who could change that feeling for me. Don't know what it is, just absolutely detest videos with the guy.2 points
