  1. I’ve got a set of Stainless steel DR DDT 115-55 on a Stingray and they are great for D Standard and dropped C - I’ve had these on since July with around 5 hours of playing per week and am now looking to replace as the zing has now gone but the strings themselves despite being discoloured are perfectly serviceable. On my Jazz I’m trying out some Nickel D’Addario EXL160 Balanced tension 120-50 which are great in the same tuning also, just put these on the Jazz so will report back on these.
  2. Calling all bass players! Peterborough based melodic post punk band All Fall Down are looking for a new wolf to add to the pack! We have hot licks for you to rub your low end all over, so if you love bands like Propaghandi, Four Year Strong, Hundred Reasons, Alkaline Trio and are looking for a fun way to spend your Sunday afternoons then get in touch! **The small print*** Must have own (decent) equipment, transport, and funds to contribute to rehearsal costs, future recordings etc. Most importantly you must like pizza... Oh yeah and you must obviously be able to play bass. Backing vocal ability preferable but not essential. No time wasters basically! We can send samples of unreleased music upon request so you know what to expect. Contact - [email protected] or PM me. We are not practicing at the moment for obvious reason so auditions for anyone interested will be in December (restrictions permitting).
  3. For me it’s the Ashdown RM 610, easy enough to cart around and a good sound too. Previously owned a Marshall 4x10, Marshall Vba412, Marshall Vba810, Ampeg 410he, Ampeg Svt 410hlf, Ampeg 610hlf, Ampeg 810, Gallien Krueger 210RBH, Ashdown Mag 410, Ashdown Abm 410, Peavey 410tvx, Peavey 115bw. I think over all of these the Ashdown RM610 blows them all out of the water for balance, heft and punch.
  4. Thanks for all the input guys, great help. One final question, has anyone tried the Mk3 Bass terror 500? Thoughts? Just covering all bases and thoughts that have popped into my noggin
  5. The only thing that holds me back from pulling the trigger on the Svt 3 is the reports of lacking power
  6. Many thanks for the input guys, certainly something to consider. My other part of thinking was to even keep the Evo 1 and possibly look at buying an Ampeg Svt 3 pro Or one of those Orange OB1-500 heads. Any experience of those in comparison?
  7. I’ve currently got an Abm 500 Evo 1 and I’m toying with the Abm 600 Evo IV Is it worth the update/upgrade? Any audible difference?

  14. Hi Walshy, this looks like the ticket to throw on my Stingray. Where do the battery terminals connect too?
  15. I noticed they were still in stock at bassdirect
  16. Great to hear, next what roundwounds do you guys use on them?
  17. I’ve got a Musicman 3eq Stingray which I’m really happy with apart from I find the eq can jump significantly from the centre decent to just off it. I’d like a little more control over this and also the ability to boost and shift the mid range seems quite appealing too. Does anyone use the East MMSR 4 preamp on theirs and can give me any feedback and experience of having this mod? Cheers
  18. The output volume sits at between 9-10 o’clock, loud enough.
  19. That’s good because it lives in the red section. 🤣
  20. Hi all, I'm after some advice, the way I have the head setup the input uv lives in the red, there’s no sign of any audible clipping is his ok? I usually run the gain at 12 o’clock and feel the uv meter doesn’t really give an accurate reading. I ask as I don’t want to damage the head in any way whatsoever. Setup is as follows: Musicman 3eq Stingray Darkglass B7K into the high input Ashdown Abm 500 Evo i Ashdown Routemaster 6x10 (Horn off) Additionally any recommendations for a very light comping compressor that I can stick on the pedal board? Cheers
  21. Got one better, there’s a sterling ‘sterling‘ bass in the classifieds section with the John east preamp. Not mine but would be a far better choice.
  22. Many thanks guys, it’s my favourite type of sunburst on guitar or bass and I’m a sucker for it 🤣
