  1. What band are you in Lozz?
  2. Many thanks, the Ashdown is a beast!
  3. Finally found a black pickguard at a reasonable price and a huge improvement too!
  4. Hi everyone, I'm after some string recommendations, I tune in D Standard these days and unfortunately Warwick don’t cater for bass players who require a larger gauge than 105-45 which is a shame as they retain their freshness for a good while. I’ve currently got rotosound roundwound nickels 110-50 but as you know they die and loose their zing as soon as you look at them. Thanks
  5. They are great, this is my second RM610 sold the first when I moved to New Zealand, couldn’t turn down the b stock one on Ashdowns site. I had an ABM410 and there was no difference in the weight.
  6. Thanks for all the nice comments, the rm610 cab works great with the CTM 100 head and the p bass sounds thunderous!
  7. The iPhone recording doesn’t do it justice as it cuts all the bass and low mids off it.
  8. Many thanks, it’ll certainly do the job and be well looked after!! Just need somewhere to crank it now...about 3am should do it 😉

    NAD!!

After many questions and asking a couple fellow members for recordings/sound samples of the bass head I was after.(Thanks @Merton @stewblack) I’ve finally made a purchase, extra thanks to @Merton for selling me his head and putting up with one of my senior idiotic moments!! This place is such a wealth of help and it reinstates my faith that decent people still exist on this planet! Here is my new setup, I am beyond chuffed with it!! Enough of the talking, here’s a photo and a brief iPhone tone test.....enjoy!! (Excuse the sloppy playing, it’s been a long day) IMG_0016.mov
  10. I wonder if the burglar requested an 'Encore' and as it happens that's what his bass was?
  11. Bugger, these would've been just the ticket to restore my late Grandfathers bass.
  12. Shame they don't do these in 110 - 50 Gauge
  13. I liked the Svt Classic sound but after all that I had a Marshall VBA 400 for years, despite being it heavy that thing was bullet-proof.
  14. This is the Issue I had with a Svt 2 Pro, SVT Classic and a Skunkworks Classic Head - All having new tubes and regularly serviced by different people. Same issue. I had a Svt 5 Pro after which liked to burn out pcb boards (Ampeg replaced the first 2 under warranty and after the 2nd got replaced I got rid) a good friend of mine had the same issue with his Svt 4 Pro so he got rid of that and bought an Svt Cl which has been doing the same thing as your SVT 2 Pro. My old SVT450 mosfet was a cracker of an amp and is still going now without any issue. So safe to say that's put me off really......apart from the cabs which are great.
  15. The only Ampeg stuff I found to be any good was their Mosfet B-series stuff

No worries I know exactly what you mean, I'd love to be able to cart an 8x10 about but when we recorded at the studio, we loaned an Ampeg 8x10 and just to lift it through the doorway resulted in my hand breaking out in blood blisters earlier this year plus is was mega heavy. I can quite happily lift and manouver the Ashdown Rm610 on my own quite comfortably but I'm sure given another 10 years I'll be looking for something lighter again. I'm only in my mid 30s but years of poor manual handling and giving it the 'big' I am, lifting things that were way too heavy have taken their toll on my lower back and shoulders.

    Nice looking rig Stew
  18. To clear a room at home all I need to play is Manic Streep Preachers....the wife hates them with a passion!
  19. Love Bob Moulds later stuff especially! His Bassist Jason (Can't remember is surname) is an epic bass player, he just does what's needed!
  20. I used to have a couple of these, bloody good amps!
  21. Message sent
  22. I could do with getting myself a black pickguard made up for my US Precision, which ebay listing/seller was it? Cheers
  23. Nice to know I wasn't the only one who struggled with it, I do miss playing the Foo's stuff but having been playing guitar in an originals band and have promoted myself to bass player Fingers crossed that we can all start gigging again this year or at least be able to rehearse and jam that's for sure!!
  24. That's good to hear and I'm sure (Hopeful) I'll have no need for anything bigger than 100w as I've 500w A/B Class solid state heads and of course my old beloved (No longer with us Trace Elliot SM 300 GP7 ran at 8 ohms) which were more than plenty. I have no desire to own another D class amp after my brief foray into an Aguiler TH500 which in my eyes was a complete disappointment, couldn't get a sound I liked in gig/rehearsal settings which I sold and ended up using a Ampeg Svt450 amp which in my eyes/ears blew it out of the water in my old Foo Fighters Tribute band.
