For sale is my Wal MkII 5-string in a black gloss finish with gold hardware and an ebony fingerboard. Made in 1991, it's in excellent condition despite the fact it's now approaching its 31st birthday, the only significant wear and tear in three decades being a chip out of the poly finish on the very tip of the headstock. It's sporting a custom scratchplate that Kim at Charlie Chandlers made for it, but I understand it's held in place by the truss rod 'boat', so can be removed. Kim also did a full refret and PLEK last year, and it plays like a dream. A new set of D'Addario EXL-170 nickels have just been fitted. The tuners were replaced with Schaller M4S lightweights, but the original Schaller tuners are also included in the sale. At 4.9kg, it's not too heavy as Wals go, and balances very well on the knee or a strap. It comes complete with the original blue/grey case, fully functional with all catches working, and it even has a key! If you look closely you should be able to see the metal-handled allen key that the earliest Wals came with also in the case, although this originated from an older MkII I owned a few years ago. I'm not too keen to ship it for obvious reasons, so collection is preferred, but I can box it up securely and ship it (fully insured) at the buyer's cost and risk if picking it up is not possible. I got some rough costs from UPS for this, and within the UK would be approximately £125, USA and elsewhere £250+ (plus import duties and taxes payable in the destination country). For sale is my Steinberger XL-2 from 1986, in great condition. Other than a few small scratches on the rear of the tip of the neck, there are no significant marks, no chips or dings in the finish, and negligible fret wear. It's been upgraded with Zen-On bridge saddles and an EMG BTC circuit with 2-band EQ by a previous owner. These basses are starting to get very rare, and especially in as good condition as this one. It comes complete with the original gig bag, and a non-original strap and brass string adapter to allow the use of standard strings. Collection is preferred, but I can box it up securely and ship it at the buyer's expense if that's not possible. Sorry, but no trade offers please. NOW SOLD

*NOW TRADED* Picked this up almost 2 years ago, here's the original post for some extra pictures: I'm now unfortunately in a very similar situation to Chris in that I've loved the sound but about a month after I picked this up, I injured my back and now the weight is a bit much to be lugging around! I've used this for mainly rehearsing with a few bands and a couple of gigs. It's easily kept up with a loud band with plenty more to give. I'd rather not ship it, but I'm happy to drive to meet people within reason. Trade offers welcome via PM - I'm looking replacement lightweight combo (or a separate cab and head) or I'd consider a short scale bass (either option with cash either way). Weight is just over 25kg.

NOW SOLD For sale is my Steinberger Synapse 5-string, which was converted to a lined fretless by a previous owner. As nice a bass as this is, I've come to realise that a fretless is wasted on me, so I've decided to move it on. It's light and very easy to play, with a great array of tones from the EMG magnetic pickup that can be blended with the piezo pickups under the bridge saddle, and an active 2-band EQ. Despite the slightly odd appearance of the strap 'hook', it's really well balanced and very comfortable on a strap or on the knee. A couple of the built-in standard string screw anchors at the end of the neck had failed, so I removed them and fitted an adapter for using single ball strings. Double ball end strings can still be used via the keyhole slots in the headpiece. It's just had a new set of D'Addario EXL170 nickels fitted, and also included are a set of double ball end flatwounds that were on it when I first got the bass.

For sale is my superb Ibanez EHB1505MS Headless 5 String Bass with fanned frets. The finish is Pacific Blue Burst Flat. I've had this less than three weeks, so it is in excellent overall condition and comes with gig bag, ramp, accessories and original box. The only reason I'm selling it is because as easy as it is to play a multi-scale fanned fret bass, I struggle playing it while singing. The finish is stunning and the Poplar Burl top isn't covered in heavy lacquer, so the burl in the wood and imperfections in the wood are clearly visible and tangible and with the flat matte finish, it really sets the top of beautifully. The bass is wired with a super set of Nordstrand pickups and the array of sounds that can be achieved are great. The 35"scale on the B String is (for me) far more comfortable than the longer scale on (say) a Dingwall. There is one visible mark to note and that is a very small dent in the back of the body that was there when it arrived. The finish is very thin though and designed to show imperfections, so I'm being really picky. These are hard to get hold of at the moment, with lead times that appear to be increasing. W ovankol neck and wenge fingerboard, just a nut, two piece Warwick bridge, Warwick stamped tuners, 2 x MEC Dynamic Correction J pickups with passive electronics. Comes with nice,well padded Tourtech gig bag. Has some very small dings and marks but overall in very good condition for a 22 year old bass. Lovely passive growl. Nice player! Hi all, I'm selling my Human Base Roxy B5 to make space for an incoming Maruszczyk, so I need to free up some funds! This is a lovely, resonant, and surprisingly versatile bass! The pickup switching and EQ is really powerful and it's pretty hard to get a bad sound. The low B is solid and strong. This is a pretty reluctant sale and will be sorely missed! - Swamp Ash Body - Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard - 24 frets and 34" scale - Nut width 45 mm - Highly adjustable string spacing at the bridge (can go from just under 17mm to just over 19mm) - Delano Xtender pickup - Series/parallel/single coil switch - Active Glockenklang 3-Band Preamp (treble knob is tone control in passive mode) - zero-fret - Gotoh 350 res-o-lite tuners - 4kg (8.8 lbs) on my luggage scales with great balance seated or on a strap The condition is pretty good, there are some minor scratches on the pickguard and a little buckle rash on the back, but it's hard to see due to the finish.
