Mustapha from here gave me the opportunity to buy this magnificent bass from him...and she ís truly amazing. It is an STR Guitars bass, made in Japan, often called the Fodera from Japan. Unfortunately i have to sell to raise funds for our new home, so this one is on the list to look for a new owner. Trade options available, 4 string only and with cash from your side, otherwise i wasn't selling this one. I've got the most from the old topic from Mustapha, glad i could use it, thanks: Body : Ash Neck : Maple Fingerboard : birdseye maple Ring/inlaid dots and a beautiful volute on the back Pickups : single coils STR Preamp : Aguilar OBP-3 Weight : 4.5kg Scale : 34 String space : 19mm The color has turned into a nice white/yellow. I can ship with case and box. Please look for an impression of the bass in action here:8 points

This was bought recently to try out a lighter short scale following my recent hand operation, unfortunately it doesn’t really help. It’s a gorgeous little bass and is virtually as new. It comes with all the original accessories and rather good Gibson gigbag. It’s been set up with new Ernie Ball heavy gauge short scale strings. It sounds fantastic too not muddy at all like the EB basses and has a coil tap to add further mids. The neck is slim and the construction first class. It’s a real US made Gibson and thanks to details like Hipshot lightweight tuners there is no discernible neck dive - in comparison to my old Grabber! Best of all it’s really light https://www.dv247.com/en_GB/GBP/Gibson-Les-Paul-Junior-Tribute-DC-Bass-Worn-Cherry/art-BAS0010358-000?campaign=GShopping/GB&ProgramUUID=5G_AqJarZwoAAAFl0FZyjI8V&gclid=CjwKCAiAtK79BRAIEiwA4OskBpq5x42enfJX0fx5A0PULDy_rd7t2uxYo-30A3atwkxfcjuTZR3hmhoCE8kQAvD_BwE5 points

Had a Darkglass M900 v2 that was feature packed but I just couldn't get it to work for me. Bought a RM800 EVO II as a backup to my ABM600 and am using it all the time, it is such a great amp5 points

I do wish that people would stop romanticising WW2 and pushing this dangerous view of British exceptionalism. While the RAF may have had less pilots in the Battle of Britain, they had massive technical and logistical advantages that were expertly utilised to ensure that there was never any real danger of losing that particular campaign. The narrative of ‘the few’ and the ‘plucky British underdog’ was very useful as wartime propaganda, but not 80 years after the event by a later generation who have never known a day’s conflict in their lives. If you're interested, see ‘The Battle of Britain’ by James Holland – you can even get an audio version narrated by Al Murray.5 points

Hello, up for sale my mint Muckelroy Charger 4. It is an exceptional instrument from the acclaimed American luthier. For those of you who haven't heard of him, you can check him out in numerous threads in talkbass where he is considered by many as one of the best. The bass plays wonderfully, neck dead straight, truss rod magically smooth, very resilient in temperature and humidity changes, all signs of excellent (and pretty rare in my experience) craftmanship. Sounds brilliant, records amazingly well, plays with very low action if desired. Specs One piece maple neck-through neck, walnut wings, ebony f/b, hipshot hardware, aguilar dcb pickups with aguilar obp-3 preamp, 41mm nut, adjustable string spacing (currently at 19mm), only 3.8 kg. No scratces or dents as far as I can see. Thank you.4 points

Now £350 Are you sitting comfortably..? then i'll begin A few years back the fine people at Enfield/SIMS were selling off some stuff from their workshop. This is one of those things. Its was a P bass body with about 2mm skimmed off the face and an Acrylic cracked mirror facing expertly applied. The 21 fret (yay high E!) neck is Maple and the headstock was modified to give a more old school p bass vibe. Hardware was a knackered old BBOT bridge and no electronics. The Back is gloss black by the SIMS paint shop. I started out by cleaning and doing a set up to see of the neck was any good etc. Turned out the heel of the neck had to be reduced by a couple of mm, which i did (probably due to the skim from the front for the acrylic changing the neck pocket presentation). I also tidied the headstock the Nitro varnished the back of the neck and knocked it back to give a very smooth and non sticky feel. On the body I installed a Kick-donkey (edit KICKASS) bridge, my go to p bass pickups the Dimarzio DP122 (adjustable pole pieces., high output, great tone), Copper shielded control cavity, CTS pots, orange cap and cloth wiring. The machine heads are un-stamped but are very good quality. Suspect they are Schaller or similar definitely not a Chinese £15 a set! I tried a few scratchplates and settled on the mirror one you see here. Weight: approx 9lbs or 4kgs.. The bass now plays great, warm hi output and looks the nuts, or at least looks unique! I have gigged it a good few times an it always generates positive comments. It certainly has 'mojo' and plays great, truss rod is free and adjustable, plenty of room to manoeuvre on the saddles for low/hi action. There are scratches on the back and one dint in keeping I guess from a guitar that sat around in a workshop for a good while Condition is subjective I guess as its seen some life not road aged or heavily knocked about but there are a few dints here and there, but show room isn't what this bass is about. It's unique characterful and lets face it Shiny! So to sum up this is a very nice p bass, you definitely wont see another, plays well, choice hardware and all for the price of a Squier... Some pictures...apologies is needs a wipedown edit: just run some polish over the back, and most of the scuffs have polished out..last pic of back updated.4 points

I would suggest that over the past 20 years or so, we actually have forgotten the reason why we need to have a Remembrance Day in this country. As the actual war is now beyond the memory of anyone not well into their eighties, a now middle-aged generation who have never experienced war have got so caught up in turning it into an exercise of national pride that they have lost an understanding of what caused their ancestors to have to live through such terrible times. If we are worrying that ‘History repeats itself’ (as we should) then we need to stop ‘banging on about the war’ at every opportunity and start looking at what we can do to make sure that the conditions that led to war are not repeated. Looking at what has happened in America and parts of Europe (especially the UK) recently, I wouldn’t say that we are doing such a great job at the moment.4 points

Bacchus WL-533 Woodline Jazz Bass 5 String for sale due to finances / lack of gigs. 😡 Picked up recently in a trade and I wouldn't be selling it other than I need a cash injection to maintain some stability! It is in as new condition, no dings or marks and has the lovely matching headstock. 33" scale length although I couldn't tell any difference between that and my SR5 which is 34" scale. Comes with the Bacchus soft gig bag. Not the best but vertainly usable. Made in Phiilipines and assembled in the Japan factory, passive electronics with volume, pup pan and tone controls, it's great sounding and great playing. Not much else for me to say really! I can post at the buyers expense (should be around £25 insured) and I will say that price is negotiable within reason. I'm just trying to re-coup some expense which will hopefully enable me to replace this with something cheaper and have some spare cash. If local, any trial is welcome and I have had the setup tweaked a bit - the neck is straight as a die and the action is nice and low with no buzz. I will add some more pics soon (original pics from Mustafunk) - any questions, get in touch.3 points

Absolutely stunning 2010 Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray Classic Bass. A very high quality reissue of the first Stingrays issued in 1976 by Musicman when Leo Fender opened the company. This bass has superb low end punch with excellent control of the mids and highs with its 2 band active eq, through body stringing and 6 bolt neck join. This powerful bass can be tamed with its built in string dampers making it a superb all round instrument. Built with an Ash body with beautifully darkened birdseye Maple neck and fingerboard. Painted in a striking Coral Red ( which changes in different light settings ) and furnished with an off white central pickguard and Humbucker cover. All in perfect condition with original branded hard case with un opened tool kit and case candy. This bass could easily be sold as brand new as it is unmarked and truly beautiful. Thes are highly sought after and rightly so. Not looking for trades. Willing to prepare bass in it hard case and stuffed box for buyers courier to collect or make available for collection within Covid-19 rules.3 points

I think there's a bit of confusion creeping in, here. 'Lest we forget' is one thing, but 'We were 40,000 short' is quite another, and not connected. Remember, and respect, if you will, but equating the victory against all odds in other, different, circumstances doesn't cut it, in my view. The 'WWII' spirit is not useful in present times; a 'present times' spirit might be more appropriate. Just sayin'.3 points

Thanks. That's what I thought. Good thing is I don't have an intention to sell it. I don't play it anymore but keep it maintained. It is in excellent condition and sounds great but right now it is on display. My wife hung it for display. I feel lucky to have it and I played it quite a bit over the years I've owned it. Thank you again.3 points

Not a good idea at all! The life of a mobile ice cream salesperson is already stressful enough without burdening them with distributing and administering a vaccine. Only the other day I found one laying on the floor of his van, covered in Hundreds & Thousands. It turns out he'd topped himself.3 points

Heya guys, It's back! Police dropped it back at mine last night. Now here's hoping they catch the crook that sold it! (Police have got plentiful evidence so hopefully something happens soon!) Apologies for the VERY low res photo! Thanks all Josh3 points

Decided to sell this stunning bass as I've committed to the 5 string life. One of the easiest and most comfortable basses I've ever played. Has a few marks from use and one bigger chip on the rear. The pickguard is only held on with tape so can be removed leaving no holes. Has black usa hipshot tuners fitted and I have had the hardware powder coated black. Can wrap for postage or travel abit to help a deal. Ideally after a sale but may consider another 5 string trade so feel free to try. Cheers!2 points

Years ago (1996 to be exact) I bought a maroon-ish coloured brand new MIK Squier as a backup to my 76 P bass. It never really got played much and was sold on when I quit and sold all my gear around 2000. Fast foreward to this week, and this comes up on ebay - same year/model/colour. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Squier-P-Bass-Korean/254711420265?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648 Arrived today - oh god was it dirty - gunky fretboard, dirty body and neck, collapsed pickups, crackly pots. Upside is the neck is fine aside from a lot of grime and dings, Truss rod works great. Basic clean up done and stage 1 of upgrades (Gotoh 201B, SD Quarter Pounders, Sprague/switchcraft/CTS loom). Gold mirrored pickguard due and more cleaning.2 points

GSS Baby Sumo power amp for sale. Recently acquired from Crabman on here, but just isn't working with my current setup, so decided to move it on and use the funds to repair my knackered amp instead. Clean uncoloured power - 300w at 8ohm or 600w at 4ohm. Ideal for a FRFR setup! A small ding and scratch on the front panel (present when I bought it) and the hardcase handle is missing but in otherwise good working order. Comes with case and kettle lead. £185 posted to mainland UK, tracked and insured, or £170 collected.2 points

Well the new president of the US of A has promised everyone will get the vaccine regardless of medical insurance issues. But yes, didn't Edward Jenner, inventor of the smallpox vaccine refuse to allow it to be owned, as it belonged to the world. Unfortunately the scientists are the one coming up with the RNA vaccines. The politicians are the ones distributing it, and have shown a particular skill in a lack of organisation. Although I am sure one of their friends can turn his christmas card company into a succesful logistics company for a few million. No, I don't think we remember. We romantisise, we glorify but we don't remember. We were good at fighting the wars, but following generations haven't got the enthusiasm to fight for the peace. Very symbolic. Even amoungst those to whom it means more than sticking a poppy on and being quiet for a couple of minutes once a year so people don't judge them, it doesn't really translate into action to keep the peace does it.2 points

How are your bass and the PC connected..? Are you using the 'mic' input socket..?2 points

This will do nicely for quite a while, and will get you started; my PC was much lower spec than that in the beginning. I use Reaper as a DAW, which will work fine on such a machine, and costs nothing to trial. Pay for a license when you're ready, if you've found nothing better since. You'll need an interface, though, to plug the bass into. The Focusrite entry-level stuff has a very good reputation on this forum; there are others, but that one is a sure-fire bet. A guitar is an option, but you may want to consider a mini keyboard, which offers many possibilities for composing backing stuff, with piano, organ or synth sounds from Vst instruments (there are many free ones that are more than useful...). Yes, such a keyboard plugs into a MIDI socket of an interface, but it's very easy to set up, so no fear of getting sucked down a rabbit hole. Just my tuppence-worth; hope this helps.2 points

Exactly. Still banging on about the war? Whatever your personal glass is we need to be realistic. If the vaccine is safe and efficacious, can be rolled out quickly and is available to those in need then great. But pardon me for being cautiously optimistic, too many false dawns recently.2 points

To be fair, he's quite a nice guy! And I used to occasionally write gig reviews for Leeds Student and Leeds Other Paper. A friend of mine, who's now a famous write, once asked me to cover a gig he'd been assigned so he could go on a date with this lass he fancied... It was Sugar Minott, at some boozer in Chapeltown; I thought it a bit odd he was playing in this hitherto-unknown music venue so a m8 and I schlepped over there. And we were met with fluorescent lights, vinyl floor, old men sipping stout. It turned out that they'd hoped to put the gig on, publicised it (at least to Leeds Student gig reviews editor) then it had fallen through - probably because they didn't know how to put gigs on. However, they did a very nice pint of Guinness, so my mate and I wrote the most gushing review, making it sound like it was The Happening of The Year, possibly the century - all Dub-tastic R-squake bass and spirals of gangasmoke ascending heaven-ward to mingle with Sugar's angelic-host-like voice. We gave it to Mr X, who handed it in as his own... And it was published, followed by scores of letters complaining that it had never taken place. Mr X was severely chastised - don't think he wrote for 'em again!2 points

Having spent 15yrs on the Americana / Alt.country scene, I returned to play on the rock circuit at the start of 2019. My band definitely has a bit of swagger and adds the "roll" to the mix but we have played with some full on rock bands. I find the scene is harder in the sense that there are so many bands, where as more niche scenes like Rockabilly, Americana etc it is easier to stand out as there are fewer acts on the circuit. Whether playing in the midlands or north or going out to Europe we have seen some absolute comedy gold - one Italian bass player was lifting his bass in the air and punching it with the side of his fist. I didn't ever imagine I would see that, especially in 2019! He ran off stage to then go to the toilet for a lengthy number 2 the second he got off stage! I've never seen so much headbanging, fists in the air, two hand tapping and screaming. I grew up listening to Johnny Thunders so none of this is strictly my bag but there's definitely still a market for it and people seem to enjoy it. Fair play to them. I'm having more fun on this circuit not quite fitting in then I did on the more poe-faced niche scenes I have played on.2 points
