We’ve never had a single issue in over 10 years. There will be no policy change. Thank you for playing ped11 points

Perhaps the Christmas break has impaired your recollection of events during the course of this year. For indeed, you have form for jumping into sales threads to point out logo transgressions: Prior to the 'triggering' incident of a week or two ago, you commented in a sales thread in October: Ped replied to you saying: On June 18th you replied to an ad for a bitsa Jazz saying: Then on Jan 17th you expatiated in a more general sense on logos: THAT! There are so many fake/counterfeit "Fender"s around, selling with a "Fender" logo is dishonest, just waiting for some poor mug to buy one thinking they've got the real thing. (I also think Fender have muddied the waters a bit by branding Squiers as "Squier by Fender", so that people can advertise them as Fenders. Funnily enough, only three days before you had described taking delivery of a Rickenfaker with a fake Ric logo. Fair play for removing it as you did. But surely in buying it you were party to a transaction where intellectual copyright was infringed. So basically, you want to stop people selling basses with fake logos but it's OK for you to buy one? I put it to you that your unhappiness with fake logos in sales ads is nothing new. You have repeatedly broken forum rules by posting in sales threads where you should have PM'd. You have already had a discussion about fake logos with one of the forum's owners who has made his position clear. I suggest that far from being a spontaneous expression of concern you started this thread in an attempt to change forum policy. You want to stop people selling items with fake logos but you're happy to buy them. Shall I go on?5 points

We seem to be arriving at a situation which creates additional work for the unpaid volunteer mods because of a single member with an agenda. Fantastic start to the year.5 points

I think that banning the selling of "fakes" would actually aggrevate the issue. Instead of being forthcoming and saying it's a fake they'll try to hide that it's a fake and hope it will slip under the radar3 points

Well, it arrived a couple of hours ago. It is a thing of beauty...neck profile is great (I have no idea of the radius), very shallow/flat. It was set up pretty much how I like it straight out of the case, nice low action, a bit rattly but not unplayable. It sounds fantastic, but my fantastic would be another person's meh I suppose; I had about fifteen minutes at volume while the wife was out, but then work intervened. I've done a side-by-side with the JAXT4 for comparison. Just as an aside, I love the knobs on the new one, I'm going to hit up Lull for a set of three for the JAX. More later.3 points

RE: The Limelight sale thread that's being referred to as an example. Yes, it has a Fender logo. I understand the point being made regarding that. But, AFAICS the listing advertised it as a Limelight. The problem was that the buyer did not understand what Limelight did. The buyer incorrectly believed that Limelight took factory produced Fenders and reliced / pimped them and then re-sold them. That is very clearly the buyer's own fault, surely? The seller has not attempted to deceive potential buyers, and Basschat has no responsibility to educate them about Limelight's business model either..3 points

How am I supposed to look at my fretting hand and a music stand at the same time?3 points

........... however, things change. Some time ago I bought a Chennell Arco Bass. It was proper lush, but in the BC way, it moved on and then something else came, and then that moved on. You know how it is. However, the build quality and aesthetics were something to behold and I thought of it often and fondly. I had also been thinking of commissioning a very small EUB with Uke Bass strings on it. But I had put all that behind me. And then I saw this I fought it for a bit, but as we all know, resistance is futile. Toby is making me a 5 string one with a curved fingerboard for a very small Double Bass vibe. It will have an Fdeck preamp mounted under the fingerboard. Nice and discreet, like. Toby does lovely things with lovely wood. I am excited.2 points

Yes! Yes, he did! Mind you, he's modded that Tele so much it prolly no longer qualifies as a Fender even though it's got a Fender logo on the headstock. Nee-Ner-Nee-Ner-Nee-Ner! Logo Police Assemble!2 points

IIRC, the question was asked only after you'd already jumped into a for sale ad here to express your view about logos. Moreover, Karl alleges you recently piled into his FB ad. Look, it's OK if you want be a logo vigilante. Do what you like; no one can stop you. But with respect I don't think this thread was started from a neutral viewpoint and as a disinterested solicitation of opinion. I do think that it will end up making more work for the mods and for microscopic practical gain.2 points

It was easy to ban the Ric content from the forum because most of the members can't stand the clanky neckdiving tat anyway2 points

This. As a full-time dep, like someone said on here, I just ask what the dress code is. Turn up, get the set on the night and read. So having a micstand/ipad holder for me is essential.2 points

Re post as my original thread seems to have disappeared and not showing up in a search or my posts???? 1978 Fender Precision, Maple and Ash with the thickest flame one the neck I've ever seen on a fender. ALL ORIGINAL. Comes with original bridge guard, scratch plate with matching serial numbers and original case. Amazing condition for its age, sounds and plays fantastic. Very good action and lovely comfortable neck profile. Plenty of P growl and bite but super dub bottom end with the treble rolled off. £1750 Ono1 point

Bought here on BC in May but I have decided to keep my Laklands only so this one has to go... Let me quote the original post by the previous owner: " For sale is my 2010 USA Fender Jazz 5 string, fitted with a John East preamp. The original passive plate and pots are also included, along with the tags, original strap buttons, allen keys, truss rod tool etc., plus an alternative white scratch plate, all in its Fender fitted case. In good condition, just some minor marks on the back and a chip on the lower body edge shown in the photos. The neck is completely unmarked. It did have a couple of rough frets though, so to prepare it for sale it's just had a full PLEK and setup at Charlie Chandlers in Hampton. It plays beautifully and sounds fantastic, but it's not being used because I just prefer my Laklands, so it has to go." Please contact me if you have any questions! Thanks Joni1 point

SOLD - thanks Andy. This Fodera Koa Monarch 6 Bolt-On is a unique and rare design. 6 strings, 33" scale length and 16.5mm bridge spacing make this the most compact 6-er Fodera build allowing the player to access all of the benefits of an extended-range instrument with maximum ease and comfort. Fast solo runs, deep pocket grooves, chording in the upper register; This bass handles it all and with authority. A mahogany body and ebony fingerboard give this bass a clear and well balanced tone with a bell-like upper register. I've photographed two small marks near the lower horn. Other than that, it's pretty much bang on. Weight according to my bathroom scales is 10.2 pounds. I'm based in Bournemouth, Dorset. Local pick up preferred but I would ship fully insured at the buyers expense and acceptance of risk. No trades please. I sold this bass before but really regretted it and was lucky enough to be able to buy it back. This time it's being sold because I've saved up the funds and commissioned a new build with Fodera. My feedback: https://basschat.co.uk/topic/231476-thebassist-feedback/ Body Woods: Monarch Mahogany Body No Tone Block Koa Top (Solid) Neck Woods: Ebony Fingerboard Ebony Ramp 3-pc. Hard Rock Maple Neck Mother-of-Pearl Dot Inlays Construction Specs: Birth Date - October 2012 Bolt-On Construction 33" Scale Length Bolt-On 6 String Configuration (16.5mm Spacing) 24 Frets (Large) Electronics Options: Fodera / Pope Custom 3-Band Preamp Fodera / Duncan Dual Coils (Narrow) Monarch Control Layout Fodera SmugMug: https://fodera.smugmug.com/Newborn-Gallery-Vol-II/Newborn-515/1 point

Stolen from elsewhere, made me laugh....could easily sub Basschat and some bass related topic I fear! How many Facebook group members does it take to change a spark plug? 1 to change the spark plug and to post that spark plug has been changed. 14 to share similar experiences of changing spark plugs and how the spark plug could have been changed differently. 7 to caution about the dangers of changing spark plugs. 27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing spark plugs. 15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "spark plug" is an electrical device threaded into the cylinder of an internal-combustion engine to ignite the fuel mixture by producing timed sparks between electrodes. 2 to post that this group is not about spark plugs and to please take this discussion to a spark plug group. 27 to defend the posting to this group saying that we all use spark plugs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this group. 16 to debate which method of changing spark plugs is superior, where to buy the best spark plugs, what brand of spark plugs work best for this technique, and what brands are faulty. 2 to post URL's where one can see examples of different spark plugs. 12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the spark plug controversy. 4 to suggest that posters request the spark plugs FAQ. 16 to post "F". 44 to ask what is a "F"? 4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" 3 to say "do a Google search on spark plugs before posting questions about spark plugs". 14 to post photos of spark plugs they own. 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again....1 point

A guitarist friend of mine used to use one of those. Best priced one I found one on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ebow-EBOW-Plus-Electronic-Bow-for-Guitar-Picks/232390442251?epid=2255179010&hash=item361b8cbd0b:g:uRsAAOSwdmRZcoBV1 point

If it`s an ABM I find that the treble control doesn`t do much, but adding on the hi-mid really sharpens up the sound, plus backing off of either of the low-mids to taste.1 point

Well you could buy a Fender and upgrade/downgrade everything but the neck and be in the clear and thats not misleading or build a licensed top class bass with a transfer and be a conman The P AND J Basses are imitated beyond belief in hundreds of forms.People probably see me and my Sadowsky and think shame he couldnt afford a Fender. As long as people are honest i don't see a problem. At the price range we are talking ,how it plays will be more important I Put an all parts 70s neck on my fretless Jazz and its superb, the logo finishes it off1 point

Over the last couple of years on forums music stands seem to have become the new pick vs fingers topic. Thankfully this thread seems to lean towards a healthy common sense approach. Some forums get very silly about such things.1 point

For sale is my like new RCF HD32a with the £50 RCF cover. It has a "12 bass driver with a 700hz crossover and a 3inch horn. Powercon connector. It's had very little use due to health reasons, never been pushed, lives in a smoke free home, and has been well looked after. I've been using speakers like this for 7 years over hundreds of shows and have tried all of them below the £2k range. This is hands down the best I've used. I still have the original packaging. I can post for around £20. Looking for £625. Photos below.1 point

If you like the pa sound, then what about something like a QSC K12.2? Makes more sense to take your own wedge than an extra amp if you like the ampless sound. For a more traditional combo there's always the effervescent Markbass stuff. I'm not the biggest fan of the sound myself but that's a personal thing and those little 12" combos do kind of have the 'amp as stage monitor only' thing nailed. Tiny and light.1 point

Our singer uses a music stand. I would rather he didnt because I find it looks a bit naff. However, he had a nasty accident a few years back, and finds it hard to remember the words, so I understand. Our guitarist has post it notes stuck everywhere with little reminders.1 point

Making a mountain out of a molehill is perfectly acceptable unless someone tries to pass the molehill off as a mountain. That would be an attempt to deceive and I would probably have to go onto mountainchat to denounce the practice. In fact, I've seen several molehills for sale recently, each of which had been described as being a molehill but nevertheless had a little cocktail stick 'flag' stuck in the top with the name of a celebrated mountain written on it in biro. There was a 'Snowdon', a 'Ben Nevis' and - unbelievably - an 'Everest' with a little plastic figure purporting to be a representation of the Dalai Lama. I have referred the latter instance to dalailamachat and enjoy considerable optimism that the moderators will recognise their duty of care to Buddhists and stamp out this repugnant trade in fraudulent models of this much-loved religious leader. Imagine the pain and suffering when someone thinks they've bought the real Dalai Lama and it turns out to be a tiny bit of cheap Chinese sh*t. Some people might think that's acceptable. I don't.1 point

I`d choose whichever Markbass 1x15 cab is the same size/footprint, unless they recommend a specific cab to go with that amp. Doubling up with the same is pretty much a safe bet, and usually sounds great.1 point

Pragmatically, I think it would be good if any fake-logo'd bass sold here was *very* clearly labelled as such. The fact one member has bought a Limelight assuming it wasn't a copy does demonstrate that it is a potential issue.1 point

Yes, it can be irritating. However, I find it quite a good 'Darwin Award' check. Some one is trying to sell you something. Collection or some kind of postage is inevitable. They don't make it clear where they live. Likelihood of a smooth transaction?1 point

First practice last night. Set the eq up as Orange suggests on it's website for Rock/Punk, turned the compressor up to 12 o'clock, plugged all my pedals in and turned it up to what would roughly 2. This is by far the loudest amp I have ever owned, it's mental. I should of bought the 300 watt (never going happen lol). I didn't get chance to fiddle with the eq and didn't need to tweak any of the controls on my bass... now that is a real first. Bite, punch, clarity... It just works, to the point where I wasn't thinking about my sound. Last amp that did that was my Trace Elliot 1225v back in the early nineties. If you get the chance try one. I'm very impressed.1 point
