Had a low profile on here recently....Mum died on 27th June following a stroke and bleed on the brain.
Her suffering has come to an end.

Just found out my aunt has died from the Corona virus...

I've been out of work with stress for a couple of years.
Had a job interview earlier today - just had a message to say they were very impressed and asked if I can start next Monday.
Now what can I spend that money on???

Mods....are we any closer to getting the "Signature" feature reinstated? Not having to search for people's feedback was such a benefit.

Trying to update my sig, but cant find my feedback, as the search function doesn't work, and I don't fancy scrolling through hundreds of pages to try and find it, can the search function be set up to search for names under the different pages, like it used to? (It used to give option of searching on the subject you were on, or on the wider forum)
Thanks in advance.

Glad that I'm only ever going to have to do this once.
First day I had a weird dog, clearly under the effects of Chemical Happiness, off her food then vomited what she had eaten.
Since then she hasn't been able to be let off a lead, she's not used to being kept on a lead, so I have a 18 month old puppy with pent up, frustrated energy unable to play with her (many) friends.
Nightmare!!

HEADLINE!! Discreet isn't the most popular contributor this week...maybe we'll make up the 300 or so "likes" he has on the rest of us..

Um, are you not content then? Heeheehee
Frankly I don't understand popularity. I'm a bit Sheldon on that one. The few times that people have put me forward because of something they've seen in me, I've usually felt stifled by the extra attention.
Gawd help me if I ever got recognised as a talented bass player (no chance). I'd probably run a mile.
I take your point about the volume of content skewing the figures as it were but since it's only a bit of fun, I care not. The quality of your posts rarely falls below the high standard that we became used to way before we had emoji buttons at Basschat.

@itsmedunc Er... No need to rock the boat, comrade...

Just bought my first ever black bass...I know, amazing.
Edit: realised that I had a black Jaydee for a (very short) while - think I only played it a couple of times though.

Is anybody confident enough using WordPress to help another bass player with a project?
It'll be a paid project.
Please contact me for more details.

As always; it depends on requirements. If they want a simple enough blog then WordPress is fine. It won't take much to get up to speed either. The main limitation is that an install of WordPress just gets you a framework and a rather limited one at that. The money pit concern is valid. WordPress code might be free but they do need to host the site somewhere reliable and if they want to start doing fancy stuff, selling stuff etc. then they either need to pay for plugins or learn to code.
One suggestion above was Squarespace but running a shop seems to cost £17 a month. They'd need to weigh up that cost against the cost of hosting the website with a hosting company (probably around £80 - £100 per year inc. VAT) and running something like WooCommerce on WordPress (free but painful and likely to suck up time). £17 per month might not sound so expensive by the time they factor in what it provides (I've never used Squarespace or Wix so can't comment).
Vulnerabilities exist in any system; if you keep WordPress up to date then I don't think it is any more or less secure than other options. The plugins are where I'd be most concerned in terms of vulnerabilities especially if you start to choose less known developers from exotic destinations.
I don't have time to get involved in any project but am happy to help in terms of a discussion \ bouncing some ideas as I run a couple of WordPress sites (one for a charity and one for the wife).

Until a list of requirements are known , it’s difficult to know what to suggest.
If it’s an online shop there are quite a
lot of options, though all have pros and cons. I use OpenCart for my online shop , but I host it on a virtual private server. OC is free but it's a lot of work.
Perhaps the person wants a blog, lots of options there.
Could be they need a simple website for their band and booking tickets?
There appear to be an awful.lot of experience offered here but until we know the person wants, it's difficult to recommend a solution.

@SpondonBassed, I think @Andyjr1515 is busy at the moment - he was the skill behind the Silk Bass. Would be a nice project for somebody when he has time.
I am (not very successfully mind) trying to downsize.

Hi Guys,
I sent a bass 10 days ago using Eurosender pickup and delivery.
They ( DPD) picked up the next day at 2pm in Suffolk and it was delivered 10am in Ascot. Not far I know but still quick and all in one piece. Used BASSCHAT10 discount code at checkout.
£24.46 which included insurance up to €1000 . Same price up to 10kg ( 9kg my box ) and up to 170cm long box.
I’ve been ripped off by UPS recently £55 within UK insured and £66 to Germany. So it’s Eurosender from now on for me , if they keep this up.
Cheers, Quent

Just started a new course of antidepressants...
I couldn't function with the previous ones - these supposedly have fewer side effects but the list is far from short...including a deterioration for the first 5 days!! Minimum course is 6 months.
The thought of this is making me depressed.

Hi Mick, just seen this post. Sorry to hear of your troubles - I reckon the general state of the world at this time is getting everyone down to varying degrees. Hope the meds work, but take some small comfort in knowing you're not entirely alone - as Captain Tom says "Tomorrow will be a better day."
-
It seems to be quite an inexact science, always an element of 'suck it and see' involved. I have noticed improvements in a change of meds, but never felt fully sorted. In fact I need to call the Dr. today- I had to stop therapy because my home situation was so bad for a couple of years that they couldn't tell what was what. The dust hadn't settled on that mess before the world got so weird no-one can tell what's what! Still, one must to do whatever one can.
