Plasterboard and power sockets all done. Being plastered tomorrow. Originally I was going to dry line and paint it but I just thought if I got it plastered the finish would look nicer, it'd be less hassle for me as I've never done taping and jointing before and it's pretty time consuming. Managed to get a reasonable price for the plastering too so happy days!

Is that considered small? Asking for a friend.

IEMs sound like a solution, but short term get someone to video one of your gigs and then get him to watch it. Then explain that everyone in the audience saw the same and was thinking what a Pratt.

Also went for a more reflective feel in the music. 4 @Dad3353 There is a school of Science claiming the existence of an infinite number of Universes, in which, not only are all things possible, but all things must exist, somewhere or other. I thought I'd just do an update with a bit of a review. I've had a couple of months with the M18 and I'm really happy with it so far. The first thing to say is that the sound is superb, the mic pre's work really well. We are using decent mics Sennheiser 935's and Shure Beta 58's plus a £200ish EV and the quality shouts out at this level. The learning curve is really short, we had a mix up inside an hour and a day later I had set up a mix for my second band based on what I'd learned from the first and at rehearsal it worked first time, I barely had to touch levels and didn't need to touch anything else. The phone app for mixing your own monitor mix is faultless and it's all just so easy. Some nice bass sounds using the supplied emulators too but I'll stick to using my Zoom for the time being. No dropouts at all with the built in router and I can still mix two rooms away way, better connectivity than anything else in this 400 year old house. I've yet to report any niggles so far. I haven't had a chance to use it at a gig, we've either had hired PA or been cancelled at the last minute but I'll report back when I have.

I sing with foam ear plugs in. That way I sound louder in my own head. Not a lot needed in the monitors then.

I've done it! I qualified although it's been many years since I earned my living from music. I still have a 25 year old pair of custom ER15 earplugs, but they might just be past their best. Just need to book the he appointment now. Thanks for this. Appreciate it.

Here's a test I did a couple years ago. I owned a pair I'd Aguilar 1x12s for a short time and a tested these against a pair of a mate's Barefaced 1x12s and my Big One. Hands down the both Barefaced set-ups won that shootout on all counts; they had more if the tonal characteristics I was chasing and were just more exciting compared to the Aguilar units. That said, there was little between the two Barefaced 1x12s and the Big One and not enough to for me to consider shelling out for a pair, so I sold the Aguilars and stuck with the Big One until last December. The Darkglass (IMO) suits me better than Big One, but there's not much in it.

Well my vote goes with 2x112's. More convenient to only have to carry one for small gigs, and still easier to transport than a single 2x12 should you need a second one for larger gigs. Plus the vertical stacking thing gives you a much better sound in your ears than a 2x12 firing at your ankles. That was my reasoning anyway. Which is why I just bought two 112's. 😁

DeoxIT D5 for me too. Tried once upon recommendation a long time ago and only use it since then.

Assuming the same drivers, the same total internal volume, and the same port tuning in the case of a ported cab, this is a case where 1+1=2, pure and simple. What discussion on this simple concept could possibly take five pages I can't imagine, and life's too short for me to bother finding out. Arguing about minutiae ad infinitum is why I left Talkbass ten years ago.
