  2. Just saw Chas & Dave in Brighton. It's been said on here before as I remember, but Dave Peacock is a fantastic player. Beautiful lines & effortless execution. That is all.

  5. Perhaps the Christmas break has impaired your recollection of events during the course of this year. For indeed, you have form for jumping into sales threads to point out logo transgressions: Prior to the 'triggering' incident of a week or two ago, you commented in a sales thread in October: Ped replied to you saying: On June 18th you replied to an ad for a bitsa Jazz saying: Then on Jan 17th you expatiated in a more general sense on logos: THAT! There are so many fake/counterfeit "Fender"s around, selling with a "Fender" logo is dishonest, just waiting for some poor mug to buy one thinking they've got the real thing. (I also think Fender have muddied the waters a bit by branding Squiers as "Squier by Fender", so that people can advertise them as Fenders. Funnily enough, only three days before you had described taking delivery of a Rickenfaker with a fake Ric logo. Fair play for removing it as you did. But surely in buying it you were party to a transaction where intellectual copyright was infringed. So basically, you want to stop people selling basses with fake logos but it's OK for you to buy one? I put it to you that your unhappiness with fake logos in sales ads is nothing new. You have repeatedly broken forum rules by posting in sales threads where you should have PM'd. You have already had a discussion about fake logos with one of the forum's owners who has made his position clear. I suggest that far from being a spontaneous expression of concern you started this thread in an attempt to change forum policy. You want to stop people selling items with fake logos but you're happy to buy them. Shall I go on?

  9. Limelight 62-ish Jazz. Bought from someone who knew it wasn't a real Fender, sold to me who knew it wasn't a real Fender, then sold it on to someone who kew it wasn't a real Fender. Such a trail of destruction.. so many suffering kittens and puppies. I'm going to hell.

  10. How about something like a Sandberg VM? I can cover a lot of ground with this one. A pre-loved one would be within your budget.

  11. But not good for jazz. I’ve only recently been forgiven for wearing a red jacket.

  12. Must be some new meaning of the word 'microscopic' I wasn't aware of. Mods are busy enough as it is. One item per day? Is that the number of 'misdemeanours' you're expecting? How did you arrive at this number? There is no significant gain in not providing a platform for the sale of illegal goods, because no illegal goods are sold here. I have a great idea about how to make 'this' a better place to be, but forum rules preclude my posting it.

  15. If interested, make me an offer. Will leave up here for a few more days, but will withdraw the listing this week if no bites. Rob Allen Mouse 30 in as new condition. I'm the original owner, and ordered the bass direct from Rob in 2009. Alder body Spruce top (I believe this is the last bass Rob made with a spruce top. At the time of ordering the bass he was switching to maple for the lighter coloured tops. I loved the look of the spruce and grabbed the last piece!) Birdseye maple neck Goncalo Alves fretboard (with extension) and bridge Protec gig bag (very sturdy) Has only seen studio use, on just a handful of sessions, and has lived most of it's life in it's case in a smoke/pet free studio. Located in NW6, London. Lightweight, and sounds and plays beautifully. She's a beaut! Collection preferred, but will post within the UK and EU if necessary (at buyers expense). Straight sale only please. More info here : https://www.roballenguitars.com/m30specsphotos-2

  16. I sold this because I don't 'do' relic'd basses. Big mistake. A Fender? No.

  18. Much as Cameronj says. With mine I find the best setting for me involves me using the last third of the voice control in order to keep the large amount of low end I use. Im a p bass guy as well, and once I found the sound in my rig ( Marshall DBS 7400 and 2 cabs ) it has stayed around 😉😉

  21. Stolen from elsewhere, made me laugh....could easily sub Basschat and some bass related topic I fear! How many Facebook group members does it take to change a spark plug? 1 to change the spark plug and to post that spark plug has been changed. 14 to share similar experiences of changing spark plugs and how the spark plug could have been changed differently. 7 to caution about the dangers of changing spark plugs. 27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing spark plugs. 15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "spark plug" is an electrical device threaded into the cylinder of an internal-combustion engine to ignite the fuel mixture by producing timed sparks between electrodes. 2 to post that this group is not about spark plugs and to please take this discussion to a spark plug group. 27 to defend the posting to this group saying that we all use spark plugs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this group. 16 to debate which method of changing spark plugs is superior, where to buy the best spark plugs, what brand of spark plugs work best for this technique, and what brands are faulty. 2 to post URL's where one can see examples of different spark plugs. 12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the spark plug controversy. 4 to suggest that posters request the spark plugs FAQ. 16 to post "F". 44 to ask what is a "F"? 4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" 3 to say "do a Google search on spark plugs before posting questions about spark plugs". 14 to post photos of spark plugs they own. 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again....

  25. I'm with SteveK in principle. But if I were a jazz guy I'd use a stand, if only to let the audience know that what I'm playing isn't just a load of random old crap I'm making up as I go along.

  26. No lessons, self taught so flawed technique to this day 😊 Had no one to advise me otherwise so whenever I picked up a friends' guitar it tended to be a righty. Haven't found it a problem down the years. I guess a teacher would have advised differently. I do muck about with some other instruments (mandolin, saz, Greek bouzouki) and play them flipped too, apart from the bouzouki which is strung lefty. There's no rhyme nor reason to this, that's just how I bought it. Fancy a challenge? Try a sitar upside down! 😁

  27. I have the same issue myself. Currently looking into upgrading my old 2010 iMac sometime this year (which will mean Thunderbolt 3 ports)... but want to keep using my equally old analog/digital mixer, which uses a FireWire 400 port. I’ve contacted Apple, the mixing desk manufacturer and various user groups. Consensus is that I my options would be to either: 1) Chain together a Thunderbolt 3 > Thunderbolt 2 > Thunderbolt 2/FireWire 800 adapter > FireWire 800/400 cable. It won’t look pretty but it will work for the interface I’m using. 2) Buy an OWC dock which will do the same thing in one box. BUT... there currently aren’t any reliable software drivers for the interface that are compatible with the latest Mac OS (High Sierra). So that’s the stumbling block for me. And that’s also partly why I’m now considering shifting everything from my mixing desk onwards over to analog, which isn’t plagued by the persistent need to keep pace with changing interface ports, software patches/drivers to anywhere near the same extent. But that’s another story

  28. I play and sing in an acoustic duo. Mainly indie pop stuff and I use a stand just in the corner for lyrics. I used to be really against them when I was younger but now I prefer to have them there rather than forget the words (I’m useless at remembering lyrics no matter how much I practice). We also have quite a lot of songs that we don’t play regular but pop up as requests from time to time so handy to have them in a folder. never seems to put any punters off. It’s usually the music that does that 😂

  33. I think that banning the selling of "fakes" would actually aggrevate the issue. Instead of being forthcoming and saying it's a fake they'll try to hide that it's a fake and hope it will slip under the radar

  36. Tools for the job imo, when I depped I had a script-sheet for some songs on top of my amp as reminders. if I were depping unfamiliar material regularly then I wouldn`t have a problem with it, even though I do think it looks dreadful. Far better to look dreadful in a band than sound it.

  37. You'd have to address your query to Morrisons' customer services department; they would be best placed to resolve the issue. I'd check myself but I've got a batch of 1959 Les Pauls to 'age' before the end of the week. These things don't relic themselves, you know.

  38. i have a 424x and 424. far and away my favourite basses ever, and ive had usa precisions and jazzes etc. just as a curve ball, id recommend a multi fx pedal. i had a fantastic dub reggae sound by using the ampeg svt amp sim and wound all the treble out, amended the eq for a dub type sound. the beauty with the 424 is that you can set the sound with your bass in middle pick up position (p&j) then if you need more treble/bite then flick to the jazz position, or if you need less go to the precision position. A real easy on the fly fix. agree with everyone re the sound you hear at home will be completely different in the band setting. always go for a more high mid sound to start with.

  39. Imho, a Stage1 sounds more iroquai and somewhat looser in the low end. The thumb is all about tightness and sounds somewhat colder. If you miss your Streamer hard, I'd look for another Streamer of the same type. Both are awesome basses.

  41. Took charge of these two last night Wishbass Lobes, previously owned by @Billy Apple One's ambrosia maple and other is bloodwood. Never owned a single cut before so why not start with 2 Very thick necks on them but surprisingly comfortable. Wish basses come in a fairly raw state so some sanding and filling will get done.
