My account is correct, but perhaps it is not clear enough? The drummer suddenly announced that he expected the rest of the band to turn up the next day ready to prove - to him - that we were all 'clean'. I pointed out that, since he was the one with the problem (the other three of us were fine), it would make more sense for us to re-start rehearsals once he no longer had a problem. He was noticeably less fussed by my response that some Basschatters seem to be. Being vicariously offended is a wonderful stance, isn't it? So convenient, and so totally without responsibility. Anyway, there seems to be some confusion about this amongst my fellow Basschatters. The drummer in question is a really nice guy, I enjoy playing with him, and I hope to continue to do so. I don't think I have anywhere in this thread suggested that he should not be allowed to hold whatever views are most appropriate to him, and I recognize that - in his opinion - his views are reasonable and sensible. Still with me? Good. What the opinionated and entitled amongst us seem to forget is that there is a flip side to this, which is that I am equally entitled to hold whatever views are most appropriate to me, and they should recognize that - in my opinion - my views are reasonable and sensible. We've already had one arrogant clown accusing me of being an anti-vaxer - this from a silly billy I've never met, who knows the square root of bugger all about me - apparently for the heinous crimes of not holding the same opinions as him, and of not taking orders from other band members. Let's not go any further down that cess-pit, OK?7 points

**sorry now withdrawn as I have come to my senses** Valenti #146 by Nino Valenti, NYC, USA. https://www.valentibasses.com This is my second Valenti and I planned on keeping this one. (Always regretted letting the first one go) Only problem is that I now have a lead on my bucket list bass and I need to sell something to get it. Otherwise there’s no way I would even entertain this going. Swamp ash body finished in translucent white finish. Contoured heel and narrow radius chamfer on body edge. Bound maple neck with blocks. Hipshot hardware. Aguilar single coil pickups with Sadowsky preamp with VTC (vintage tone control) for passive tone + active bass and treble. Superb, pro instrument put together by ex Sadowsky employee Nino Valenti. Balance is perfect, very light, great sounding pickups with a studio grade pre amp which sounds classy. Effortless to play. Action can be gotten stupidly low if you want. No structural, electronics or playability issues with the bass. Comes with gig bag. Valenti’s price list now shows a Modern 21 fret J bass price starting at $2800. I believe the bound and blocked neck, trans white finish and Sadowsky pre amp are chargeable upgrades on this base price. Edit: a couple of points of note 1. The pickup covers have hairline cracks in them from being over tightened by previous user. This is purely cosmetic and I will either fit replacement covers or adjust the price slightly. 2. I had the blend pot re wired for normal operation. Full clockwise for neck and full off for bridge. Sadowsky have theirs back to front so that turning it full on gives the bridge pickup and more mids. I couldn’t get on with it like that as it was too illogical so it has been re-wired by my tech back to what my brain can comfortably deal with.6 points

Thanks for all the positive reactions, guys. Just to bring this story up to date, the young student collected the bass a couple of weeks ago, thanks to Martins’ ‘assist’. George sent me this pic.5 points

Last night I did my first gig since March 2020. We were in central London and played 3 x 1 hour sets. I haven't stood up for a whole evening since the beginning of last year. It nearly killed me! Talk about match fit, or not.5 points

Nothing wrong with a precautionary lateral flow test - takes two minutes and helps everyone to relax more whilst rehearsing.5 points

I think Mark will do pretty much what you want. He made me a brilliant copy of Geddy Lee's No.1 Jazz bass. Gratuitous bass pics:4 points

It lives, it lives! Just need to arrange collection. Don’t want to risk it going teats-up with a courier. Had a custom logo added to the rear of the headstock in memory of late father who passed away last May. His initials were gkb. More pics when I get my hands on it.4 points

I did that a little while ago but my count hasn't changed. He might be planning to welch on the deal.4 points

We did a evening wedding party last weekend. It was outside in a marquee with the sides off. Apart from being blisteringly hot, it was lovely to do something normal again and see people having fun. It was an older crowd so I suspect most had been double jabbed and we are so I felt comfortable with the setup. Also like Chris_b, I haven’t stood up for a whole evening for a while and that along with setting up and taking down played havoc with my back. Next gigs are a joint family party for my 50th and belated 21st for my eldest in a village hall followed by a small festival and charity gig on bank holiday Saturday. We play the festival in the afternoon and then straight to set up for the charity gig in the evening. Fortunately, the festival is plug and play lol. We have had a few function enquiries as well so hopefully things are starting to look up.4 points

There isn’t a global pandemic of second hand smoke though Jack, give your head a wobble - I think asking for proof of a negative lateral flow test isn’t unreasonable; they’re free and take a couple of minutes.4 points

Hi guys! I'm selling my Musicman Sabre bass I bought back in 2016 from GAK in Brighton. It’s tobaccoburst with maple fretboard and in fantastic condition. It has one small mark on the back though I’m not sure if I caused it or if it’s something in the lacquer. The bass includes one of the Musicman hard cases with the Sabre logo on it so people know you’re a legend, a great quality strap and strap locks (I swapped in strap locks) and all the mcguffins the bass came with. it’s mostly sat in storage the last few years and I’d love the bass to go to someone who’d take proper care of it. Asking price is £1300 plus delivery/courier or of course you can come try it out in my home in London. I know this goes without saying but… Please no silly offers! I’m also looking for a relatively fast sale as I’ve got some vet bills fast approaching! This bass is also on EBay, Gumtree and Bass Players Market on Facebook. Cat not included, sorry guys!!3 points

SOLD Pedulla Pentabuzz in aqua/turquoise burst Really in two minds about this, but just not getting played. For me the best fretless basses out there and since the retirement of Mr Pedulla and the closure of the workshop they are becoming a little scarce. Beautiful to play with a fantastic range of tones, if you’re after ultimate mwah then this is it. Stunning finish changing from blue to green depending on the light. Sadly she is just not being played and is rather too valuable to be sitting in her hard case. Due to the current situation with shipping and crazy costs this is a UK sale only, sorry. Comes with a non Pedulla hard case. Purchased from Bass Direct by myself and as their photos are better than mine and she is still in the same lovely condition, just one or two surface marks as expected for a 21 year old, but fairly negligible to eyeI Happy to field any pertinent questions. Please use private message as often these sales become personal opinion threads. Weight is 4.1kg according to my scales. Happy to courier fully tracked and with suitable bomb proof packing. (Courier cost included in price) 4A flame maple body, turquoise trans finish, maple through neck, ebony polyester finish fingerboard. NECK: Capillary (neck-through), 3 piece maple laminate SCALE LENGTH: 34 inches FINGERBOARD: Ebony NUMBER OF FRETS: 24/24 inlaid white markers, (plus finish on the fretless Buzz fingerboard) INLAY: Mother of Pearl, 5mm dots NUT: Bone TRUSS ROD: Single rod, double-acting adjustable with two stiffening bars HARDWARE COLOR: Gold BRIDGE: Custom gold, 19mm spacing MACHINE HEADS: M.V. My mate Martin was in a band with Nicko before the Maiden days… They sacked him “because he wasn’t any good”. We ribbed him magnificently when Iron Maiden’s tour manager called me about a white Gibson ES-355 we had in stock and they sent a runner to purchase it (at £3500 or whatever it was) as one of the band fancied it. What a claim to fame though, “i sacked Nicko, he joined Maiden soon after”.3 points

Hello Again! Well.... the teeny tiny cab is together and has been tested It's definitely easy build I haven't applied any finish to the cab or a grille as this was a test version (although i'm falling in love already) I made the crossover on a piece of thin ply. It really is a compact cab. I used araldite to glue the port extension on and then stretched some gaffa round it nice and tight for support One point I would bring up (and I could be talking rubbish here).... The port ends closer to the rear wall than I would have expected to be ideal. My thoughts were that you needed at least the diameter of the port. Any thoughts on this chaps? (port length 170mm) Or does it not matter? I coupled up my BH800 and played some tunes through it via an ipod. I was very pleasantly surprised. Nicely balanced with neutral equalisation and with a good dispersion of higher frequencies. My better half said "that sounds nice" - praise indeed. I've played my precision through it for a few minutes and its great! Not bottom heavy, but then I didn't really expect it to be. BUT It's clear, punchy and responds very well to EQ changes. Would I gig with it? Probably not unless it was a small room.... Would I gig with it plus another cab (minus the tweeter section) yes definitely! Its probably a bit unfair to do a review after such a short time, but I promised myself that i'd contribute to this project as well as gain from it. I'll report back once i've done a rehearsal with it Anyone can make this cab. The joy of hearing your creation come to life is soooo worth it! I am v tempted to knock some 12mm versions together (although the V3 basschat design is calling me) Thank you to all who are involved in this wonderful little design Pics attached - drill shown for scale 😊 Jon3 points

The DC7 is a monster. It runs my entire board and I’ve not even managed to light the 40% of load light yet. Insanely good, plus it fits under a Pedaltrain with no modification to the board needed. It’s not cheap, but worth every penny for me.3 points

Generally speaking, most rock singers are always spending their capital, not just the interest. Bruce Dickinson was mostly not like that, which is why he can still sing these songs. But he's past 60, and voices never stay the same decade after decade. Even Pavarotti was no longer singing the music that made his name once he was that age, despite having the most blessed vocal apparatus and an immaculate technique. Lemmy had the right idea: start out knackered, and stay knackered.3 points

Yeah I’d agree - both of mine are HH - originally cost £2299 (a 4 and a 5). I use them a lot along with my Classic Sabre. That Classic looks nice (no it’s not mine!!) - it’s up for £45 less than I paid new for mine! Mine has birds eye, flame and a bit of quilt in the neck. That colour (coral red) was only available between NAMM 2010 and NAMM 2011 so they’re thin on the ground. As close as you’ll get to a 2 band Classic in fiesta red (one of the members here has the original prototype which actually is called fiesta red 😏)2 points

Resilient bars are up on the ceiling now. These are to create a gap which will give additional sound proofing and will have two layers of soundproof plasterboard attached to them.2 points

My thoughts exactly. Every month I seem to get down something better than the last entry, only to be outshone by the competition who have also upped their game. Except the singing of course!2 points

The behaviour of post counting will be the same at the moment. I’ll have a play next week and see how it all works. It’s likely that those rules will change and all posts will count otherwise it gets a bit complicated.2 points

If you click another members rank I think. You can see your own and how many points to get the next in your own profile. Next week I’ll be sharing the system that shows what actions equal what points, for example starting a thread can be 10 points, replying can be 2, reacting can be 1, and so on.2 points

Okey Dokey , I think I've rinsed this one for as much as I can get out of it just now. Not yet managed to convince the neighbour to let his lungs loose on it but I live in hope ......(die in caergwrle) The track starts in sombre reflection of times past , but very soon jumps into the lively present, whilst also giving a nod to the incompleteness of its current state ....really !! EZdrummer , I found a new kit that works on this, ibby 6 string through waves gtr 3 offering some twang , Gordon Smith applying some low end and of course the much in demand sweet vocal tones of yours truly .... which I will ditch if an offer of a superior performance makes it to tape !2 points

Here goes........ Some blurb for the voting page: The picture bought to mind the decayed industry we see around us, a thriving workplace has become a void. I called the song "Into The Void" and that in turn led to a downbeat, goth-y feel. end of blurb. Recorded with Studio One. First time out for my upgrade to Studio one Five, with some new (virtual) amps/pedals. First time out for a new set of drum sounds too. Daw = Studio One (five). Mic = Sure SM58, Guitar = Squier telecaster, Bass = Vantage, Drums = Studio one piano roll with Red Zep sounds.2 points
