Hey gang! I'll start by saying I've often been a bass brand snob, but life has taught me there's more than gear that I need money for, and recently I've gone around selling lots of stuff and downsizing. For context, it's been rare to see me buy a bass of less than £1k so this is a nice turn of events - and boy I've been missing out...! Recently I came across a Fender Precision MIM in Lake Placid Blue for £450 that I modded for just some bits and trades and now I have a very very very killer/competent bass with the EMG GZR P for about £520 net... After the cull and sorting money for some projects, wife invited me to 'keep the change and buy yourself something nice' - of course, it was gonna be a bass... I've just ordered it this morning so I'm hoping that forum will help me whilst I spend the week looking out the window - the reward? Pictures and a review of the Sire V5R in Mild Green (2nd Gen). It's in budget and didn't want to wait around or drive to collect etc, £399 free shipped via Thomann. I'm a sucker for pastel colours and even if I already have this on my Stingray, I was more interested in this combo rather than Natural/Sunburst. Having a Stingray and a Precision it made sense to get a Jazz for my 3rd wall hanger, and I'm set to myth bust that 'Sire is as good as MIA Fender / Better than MIM Fender' that I've been hearing for so long . Not expecting a miracle, just something to compliment the tones and playability of the Precision on stage whilst the Stingray covers all the recording ground and nice/safe gigs. I've not seen a lot about this particular bass, but rosewood fingerboard with blocks & bound, alongside passive electronics and roasted neck... Yep, way to go. Again, rosewood is the only board of interest I didn't have as the precision is maple and the stingray is ebony... ...I just wanted to invite folk to share their comments on this bass, positives? negatives? Picture for interest:9 points

Ladies and gentlemen, the venue and promotors apologise for the sightly late start. This was due to the band ensuring their support act had a proper sound check.8 points

Latest setup. I briefly was using a nano+ with a few extra pedals however I've decided to go go back to basics. This is a cheapo case off amazon (think it's a case for a Canon printer) and the board is a bit of flooring painted black. The reason I've went this route is simply so it fits into the front pocket of my bass case! EDIT: the Stomp looks like its not straight in the photo. It is. Plus. the power adapter fits in the case too. Should've shown that.8 points

Have been looking for one of these for a while and picked up this Navy Metallic Sunburst one in mint condition with the protective plastic still on the truss rod and cavity covers. Really pleased to find one in this condition.6 points

I’ve just had this ad pop up on FBook - seems as though there’s no real difference betwixt the two… just so everyone knows, I’m Jazz all the way, they’re good for metal too.6 points

Howdy folks. Is anyone on the hunt for an 2021 (i think) S2 with Chris Wolstenholme pickup configuration. Headless with green wraparound LEDs. I needed a Dingwall and I’m more a headed fan! So keeping both my CWs and selling the S2. Bought last year and looking for what I paid. £4,500 - postage would obviously be more. I’m down in Glasgow at the end of the month (23rd-25th) if that helps. Based in Aberdeen, Scotland (photo taken in a dark room for the LEDs!)5 points

For any Newcastle upon Tyne basschatters who are not going to St James Park to watch Leo’s offspring and local lad Sam Fender, we’ll be playing our eclectic mix of country and americana at the rather marvellous Billy Bootleggers on Stepney Bank in the Ouseburn tomorrow (Saturday 10th) kicking off at 6pm. I shall be murdering a selection of bass lines on both fretless bass and NS EUB.4 points

Just rounding out the journey - here's the Noble on my board. It's early days but I have to say I'm really happy I ordered one. The IEM sound is the best I've ever had and, running into the FX return on my AG700, my amp sound is awesome (to my ears anyway) through my Barefaced cab/s! Bring on the festivals!! Have a good summer all 🙂4 points

Fascinating! That’s an obscure bass. Yes, it’s a Revellation made by the independent builder from South Wales,Tony Revell. He was better known for building acoustic guitars and mandolins but in 1992 I commissioned him to make me a lovely acoustic bass. A few years later he developed a range of boutique electric basses - of which this is a rare example. Never knew that Mick Karn had one. Not many people did. He was a darned good luthier, though. Given that the date is post 1992 it’s unlikely that it was used on the RTC album. So there are a couple of possibilities given that they don’t give any details on the bass itself in the ad… a) it’s a 1990/91 custom order but more likely since it’s clearly one of the Revellation basses, then b) his wife can’t recall what it is and when it was bought - and memory simply got that particular detail wrong. Still a cool bass for a collector of basses and/or Karn, though!4 points

Up for sale my "rack of pre's ", including a compressor, parametric equalizer, and a choice of ancient, or modern preamps, depending on your gig. In all honesty, I've only ever taken this to Basschat gatherings, as it could be described as overkill ! Although, I have used them all, separately. Pic is self explanatory, easy to see what's on offer. ( Ashdown RPM1 gone ) Just found my Phil Jones Bass Buddy, so add that to list ! Collection only from West Sussex please, so that kit can be trialled, and please don't ask me questions about the compressor, I never did figure it out 😉 Will see if I have room to put in car and bring to Bass Bash on 12th Nov3 points

Hi all , I thought I would never do this but unfortunately things change. I'm selling my wonderfull pentabuzz to fund a 6 string bass or any high quality 5 string (e to c) or a vintage fender. The reason behind the trade is that I already own a 6 string but if a better one came up ill sell mine and try to fund a 4 string fender(vintage). Partial trade only , wouod need some money my way . Now stop talking and let's get to the point.the pedulla is unbelievable and anyone who have played one can tell you that it doesn't get better than this in the fretless world ! This example is 9.5 out of 10 condition and plays amazing. Bass comes with paper work , tools and ohsc. The bass has a 5AAAAA top and was built in 2000 and has a configuration of jj bartolinis The controls are Volume , pickups blend and tone. The MVP preamp is active, the tone control is a passive cut or active boost either side of the centre position, and the blend is active to keep the volume the same a great setup. String spacing 19mm but can3 points

I am starting this thread to see if we can get a 'pay it forward' kind of thing going on with a flight / hard case I have been given. I am about to send a bass through a courier and mentioned this to a friend and he told me he had a old spare flight/hard case in the loft he was going to bin. He offered it to me and I am going to be sending a bass to @Happypants using this case. I thought it could then be used by some one else who may need a more secure way of posting a bass. I will post some pics of it (inside and out) - hopefully it will have some use. It will be making its way to Orpington (SE London way) so will be free to anyone who can collect it from there. I did envisage it becoming a Basschat box - used by members to ship basses around the country - I may be somewhat deluded by this! Any thoughts on this? Am I deluded? Can someone ask a mod if there is a better place for me to post this? Thanks2 points

Bass dating back to the first Nash productions.. (before 2005) when Bill still didn’t put any decals and only built to order.. (writing the buyer’s initials on the neck and body) (I have an email exchange with Bill Nash who testifies the What) Type Reissue 57 Precision, fiesta red nitro finish relic. Alder body, maple neck and fretboard (shape, a cross between "soft V 57" and "Oval C", very comfortable in my opinion) Fender pickup (I don’t know the model but it looks like a CS) Original case Thumbrest, pickup cover and bridge cover included 4kg on my bathroom scale. one of the most convincing basses ever heard with flatwound strings.. (currently using it in this configuration), perfect fretworks and action. aesthetically and in terms of sound, construction and feeling, comparable to the best Fender Custom Shops that have passed through my hands. Price 1800€ Euro shipped to your door located in Italy trades welcome.. (looking for rickenbacker or gibson basses)2 points

IMO Rob has already justified his right to be a member here by making me (two) pairs of pickup surrounds which greatly improve the appearance of my Fender Modern Player jazz 5er. I wish everyone was as helpful as Rob..2 points

If you’re stuck for something to listen to I can recommend the album Jerusalem by Alpha Blondy, it’s a mixture of different song styles and Aston Barrett on bass, i like this one2 points

I've never had a bass fail at a gig, only broken strings, and while I could fit a new string mid-gig, you can guarantee it won't go as smoothly as it does at home, and it looks completely unprofessional. Plus when you've only got 30 minutes for your set you don't want anything unnecessary eating into that time. It's only happened 3 times IIRC, but the first time it happened I'd never even considered that it might be a possibility, so not only did I not have spare bass, but I didn't even have a spare set of strings, and ended up having to use the headlining band's bass which was a Violin Bass copy strung with ancient flats and on a strap so long in hung somewhere just above my knees (at the time I wore my bass at chest height and used a twangy round-wound sound). Before the next gig, not only had I bought two sets of strings, but also a spare bass. Since then I've always taken a spare instrument unless if there has been no room for it in the band transport.2 points

I guess the morale of this post is that there are a lot of options out there! If you don't mind loosing a little money on return shipping you might be better making the most of return policies and try them out. Could grab a bassrig and the ampeg and audition them both, send back the looser. Preferably after doing some side by side recording's of them for us to listen to 🙌2 points

When I bought my chapman stick, the guy I got it off seemed a great guy, had a reasonable social media presense including pics of him playing the stick so I could have gone F&F, but I didn't because fundamentally it was a lot of money and the extra money was just insurance for it. Turned out, he was a great guy anyway, but the thing is, a lot of scammers seem like great guys, and there really isn't a way to tell the difference. Like those people who meet some girl online and then pay for them to come over and it turns out it was just a scam and they lost their money. Well, I have been married to my one for 25 years on last monday, so you really can't tell.2 points

I have send him £9.46 and should receive £132.43 soon from Gofundme to sent to him then the rest in 2-4 working days so he’ll have all the dosh next week. Thanks to all who were able to donate or share you truly are awesome people. Ive selected close as I expect it’s all us on here donating and all those who will have by now so I can get the money sooner for him.2 points

Oh wow, that is shocking, we thought we had it bad but what happened to you is unbelievable. You are absolutely spot on with the singer/guitarist. We were very big U2 fans so lots of reverb on the vocals and delay/echo on the guitar. Great memory you have to remember that. So here are some pictures. They are not great and I hope the mods don't mind me posting them in here.2 points

**SOLD** Beautiful acoustic guitar. Handmade in Canada. Seagulls are part of Godin. It has a built-in tuner and electronics allowing you to connect it to an amp. It comes with a Gator GigBag, a strap, a new set of strings, and two books. The Coastline S6 Slim CW Spruce QIT is an ideal choice for players who prefer the brighter sound of a Select Solid Spruce top, as well as the great feel and superb sound provided by a hand-finished neck with a slimmer, more traditional nut width. The cutaway and QIT electronics also make this a great choice for the gigging musician. I no longer play guitar. I just don't have the heart to keep it in gigbag and not play it if someone else can enjoy it. I may consider swapping it for a passive Feder P-bass (I would pay the rest in cash) or a decent bass preamp pedal Top Material: Solid Spruce Body Material: Wild Cherry Inlays: Dot Number of Frets: 21 Scale Length: 25.5 inches Nut Width: 1.72 inches Neck Material: Silver Leaf Maple Fretboard Material: Rosewood Finish/Color: Natural Electronics: Godin EPM Quantum IT (QIT) Case: Gigbag It is a dreadnought slimline cutaway guitar. Here is a video review of that guitar:2 points

Bought new in 2001, from Flying Pig Music, this combo has had home use only and is in excellent condition with no scratches, scuffs or marks on the carpet cover - It's heavy (I am sure you already know that 🙂) ......but if you want the Trace Elliott sound and 300 of their watts, then this might suit you. It has 7-band EQ, pre-shape button, compressor, effects loop , Line Out and Balanced DI out........It's the only bass amp I have ever owned, but I fancy a change and I have ordered a Rumble 500, so this needs to be sold to make some room. In the interests of clear communication, I will not post it, courier it , put it on a pallet etc. etc. - I value an easy (for me) transaction more than squeezing the last pound out of the deal - Therefore Collection only from Beaconsfield. Edited on 9/6/23.... It's going on eBay with a starting bid of £125.... if I get a bid, I will have to withdraw it from here.2 points
