  1. Hi all, I've 3 limelights on J necks and I am downsizing, the purple is my custom spec and the Charcoal is a gift from my missus so the Olympic White will have to go. Superb weight, I think around 3.6kg - sounds amazing and well, currently has 2 out of 4 Gotoh resolites that it can go with, belonging to my two other basses which now have hipshot detuners. Alder body, maple neck, rosewood board. It's got a toneswitch circuit from KiOgon for kill / bypass / 22pf / 47pf. Note, I'm keeping the covers as they belong to my purple bass! With the Nordy NP4V it's installed now, £920. Without the Nordy with the Limelight 62 pickup, £850, cheaper than I bought it for. Would prefer to deliver in hand! Pictures in the link below as I can't seem to paste new pics somehow. https://photos.app.goo.gl/4EHkXL91LPRBFwBR9 Best, Ander.

  3. For sale is my immaculate 2021 Lakland Skyline 44-64 Custom PJ Ice Blue Metallic. It's a limited edition finish and is stunning. The neck is one of the best necks I've ever played. It has a lovely low action and weighs in at 9lbs 9oz (doesn't feel like it on the strap). It didn't come with a gigbag but I have a Fender deluxe gigbag I'll post it in. 11. Rattus Norvegicus, No More Heroes, Black & White - JJs tone and aggressive style and the sheer visceral sound of his bass still gets me buzzing. Sons & Fascination, Sister Feelings Call and New Gold Dream - IMO Simple Minds lost something when Derek Forbes left. All his lines, even the simpler ones, are crackers that drive the tunes. Lexicon of Love by ABC - great melodic basslines from start to finish that stand out but don't overpower the songs Sulk by The Associates - really imaginative and unusual but melodic basslines by Michael Dempsey. Check out Better This Way, Club Country and Skipping.

  12. I've just rejected a request to play NYE. I've avoided Covid for almost two years, not going to stick my head in its maw for a bunch of whizzed backside people. So my band days could be numbered...

  14. Just got my nice new 4003CB WG Rick bass., stunning. Nice contrast with my old 4001. It's a new Custom Build 4003 with checker binding, toaster pup & Walnutglo finish. with high gloss fretboard. Great new style bridge & single twin action truss rod. Love em both.

  15. I'm mostly going to invest in improving my playing this year. I'm getting some lessons to improve my sloppy technique and theory. Lots of jam sessions to push me to improvise. I may sell my Musicman Sterling Ray34 and Ray35 to buy a full fat EBMM Stingray 4. Need to try one to see how much better than my Sterling's it is. I may also treat myself to the Justin Chancellor signature Cry Baby fuzz wah

  16. Great to see Rick Beato talking about and listening to several of my fav bands (Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana) in this more than 90min video. Cool stuff. Check it out!

  17. Just ordered one of these. Kind of on a whim, kind of because I fancied a bass specific OD. One of my favourite bands are High/Low from the same part of the world that these are made and they use Raygun effects. As they've always made a righteous noise I thought why not. I'll keep you posted.

  18. With your Mark Kingly and wasp-waist and swivel-hippy, show you had, and I must say it showed it first self in pictures with the rhythmic contrapole of the wobbling of the hipper, sideways with the thumb and tilty, gave him that expression both also with a little doggy-lublike in the eyebold which he conveyed to the smaller femailode of the specie, coupled with his music because he did trittly-how fine on the strims, helped him along the roamer [....] I heard it first of all in Macari's in the early mordy: I was doing the shavit-huff with my razor blade, which of course is a safety one, and suddenly, suddenly he did a little slappity syncopole or a drop-it and how, or something he did and caused a jerkit over a pimplode and I've been suffering ever since!

  28. It's not as finished as I wanted & the Mrs wanted to redo her vocal (she hates her voice, but I love it). I'm fairly happy with what we've done so far & hope to get her singing more songs for me. Edited as I felt the vocal was slightly on top of the song (rather than part of it). Bass is a mix of synth and real, I played both parts. Here's the update... https://soundcloud.com/feintmotions/doomsday-cover

  29. This morning my DAW decided to get Christmas Eve off. It was my fault as I decided to click the update button then it f#cked off into the oblivion of the hard drive maze. 7 hours later and after a couple of tumblers of Scotch I retrieved it. Now , I feel a bit socially tired to mix/master the song. Anyway, hoping to contribute with my piece. Update. So, this is a cover version of DP Boulevard's 'Point if View'. Not something I listen to, but I've recently heard it in the radio and thought why not to do something different. Gear used , Played cheap drum kit I owned since May and practice once a weekish, Glyn John`s technique recording. ( I found this sounding best when using 4 mics) Guitars were played through Amplitbe 4 for convenience. Bass was recorded through a Fender bass combo , recorded with AKG112 mic almost touching the speaker just of the centre. Keys are Syntronik and Sample 4 played with midi Launchkey keyboards. The rest , co called vocals, well....I need to work on those.

  31. After running an earlier Blog on early UK funk bass players , a we return to the subject again , The shop chain Mark King worked for "Macaris" has finally closed it doors in Demark Street, as stated before, we were the guys who used to jam in those shops at that time meaning Mark King got into bass plus, including seeing guys like myself The reason for this new post strange as it is, was "just 1 track" i have not heard for many years it quite simply its Level 42 before Level 42 ,, please tell us about Demark St in the 1970s & if you wish were there

  32. The Traditional Holiday Listening experience is ready for your enjoyment. The December Challenge collective have produced wonderful a wonderful musical experience for you to use as an excuse to find some peace and quiet. Its all about COVERS ..... Its all about Covers No, not drain covers No, not motor bike covers Not even duvet covers Song Covers, Yup , you were here last years weren't you ! A quick note that a couple of the toons are Not safe for work/youngsters , they are noted in the preamble to the toons Without further ado , have listen to the fantastic selection and choose your favourite 3 1 @NickD I've been listening to a lot of blues lately, as I find it's good for my bass playing, so while I'm not usually one for covers I thought I'd go for a classic.... Killing Floor, by Chester Burnett (aka Howlin' Wolf). 2 @Dad3353 Not a lot to say about this one; it's all in the song. A long-time favourite, it's become sadly more apt and poignant as Life deals out its cards. They're not all aces. 3 @Earbrass One of the music production channels on Youtube that I subscribe to is that of Rachel K. Collier. Late last year she posted a video about her favourite plug-ins under $100, in which she gave a link to a vocal stem from her track "No Deeper Escape", and permission for her viewers to sample this stem and make whatever use of it they wished. Never having tried my hand at this sort of thing before, I decided I'd have a go. 4 @Nicko Here is my contribution. Its a straight cover of Longview by Green Day. It is most definitely not the radio edit so not safe for work without headphones. 5 @MoonBassAlpha Our cover (Charms Against the Evil Eye) of the Jazz Butcher song Southern Mark Smith, recorded live with acoustic guitar overdubs only, 2nd take. Leader Pat Fish was a good friend and mentor to our singer. He sadly passed in November this year (2021) and will be greatly missed by many. 6 @fingers211 Here's my thingy....It's a first for the 3 string cigar box , 7 @Leonard Smalls I've fiddled with a live desk recording from a recent gig of our cover of Penetration's "Don't Dictate", which also has a hint of "Word Up" just for fun! 8 lurksalot A tale of rejection, reconciliation and redemption .... not safe for work 9 @Nail Soup It's a pretty straight cover of a pretty un-straight cover....... 10 @upside downer I've gone with a knockabout song from 1996 (25 years ago? Crikey O'Blimey!), Scooby Snacks by the Fun Lovin' Criminals who I saw a few times back in their heyday. And, seeing as I can't sing, Huey's spoken word delivery is something that I can get near to. 11 @bussonetthebass New to this competition but just knocked this one together seeing as I'm isolating and feeling like escaping to the studio. Apologies in advance for the singing.. I'll blame Omicron on this occasion.😄 12 @SH73 So, this is a cover version of DP Boulevard's 'Point if View'. Not something I listen to, but I've recently heard it in the radio and thought why not to do something different. 13 @xgsjx The Mrs has asked if we could cover Doomsday by Lizzie McAlpine, proper bluesey song with an interesting progression.... 14 @skankdelvar .......... 15 @lonestar Here’s one what I did..... That's a good size , quality list of entries from you all. Vote for your fave 3 Voting will close midnight on the 2nd January, an extra couple of days to catch up with all the entries Good luck all

  33. Ok I need to point out the way my title has been misunderstood. I'm not saying I don't care if I catch Covid. I've spent most of December in bed, I've missed all my gigs because of it. So today I put two fingers up to the virus which has kept me under and I managed to gig . That's all I'm saying.

  38. Recently acquired in a trade is this rather fancy Ibanez SR1400 in Mojito Lime Green. Moving on as I really do need to knock a lump off the credit card so not interested in trades, sorry to say. No expert on these by any means as I'm more of a passive Pbass guy but it's obviously very modern sounding with a comprehensive EQ and quality pickups and hardware. Very good condition with only two small chips on the headstock. Lightweight weighing in at 7Lbs 8 Oz (3.4 Kg) I've pinched the photos from the previous owner but will take more if required. 40. That's a Stanley Clarke model with the point body (remember that you can order whatever shape you want by Alembic) as it doesn't have the hum-cancelling system, but the AXY pickups with the two filters and the two Q switches. So definitely a Stanley Clarke model.

  41. Ah yes, I remember it well. Mark overcharged me for a bass in 1976. I later bumped into him in the off-licence. "Mark, you overcharged me for that bass" I said. "Only a bit" said Mark, "you wouldn't deprive a man of his snout and cider would you?" I let it go.
