  2. Thanks to @foxyFuze for selling me his unbelievable amp and for @wateroftyne for letting me play through his at the impromptu Bass Bash last week. Through the Barefaced 610 it is outstanding. Little unknown brand from Poland, won’t be long before everyone catches on! Does this mean the end of my 751 🤷‍♂️ It’s that good!!

  6. My bass is that little bit nearer to being back in my possession, thanks to Merton 😊. Love this forum and the kindness of its members. Here is a photo of the pickup

  7. Hi! I made another one with more pickup and tone settings, plus pick and slap at the end. I got several requests for quicker bouncing back and forth between the two, and also lowered the backing drum track.

  8. Just snaffled this 48 y/o beauty. Weighs just over 7 pounds, which is fabulous for my back/shoulders. Just need to sell a couple of basses to pay for it now!

  11. Not having any background in psychology, nor having read enough Freud that I feel compelled to ascribe all thoughts, dreams, and other subconscious brain activity to an inherent desire to have it off with one's own mother, I'm afraid I can't offer an explanation for your dreams. I can, however, reassure you that you are not alone. I have had similar dreams in which my instruments bends, folds, or shrinks to the size of a ukulele. In one case, I was on stage trying to play a borrowed bass on which the strings resembled those coiled, springy, rubber keychains that were briefly popular in the mid-to-late nineties. In another, I left other band members to pack the gear while I went ahead to set up the venue, had to berate them for forgetting to pack my amp, and found myself trying to amplify my bass using the "paper cup telephone" method and running a taut string from the body of the bass to a floor tom. I'm sure there are others; in some respects I'm quite grateful that I forget the majority of my dreams...

  12. Basses and bass kit fall into the exceptional need category. This category of purchases is deemed essential to life function, happiness, stardom, sexual prowess, fame, playing ability, tone (underline all applicable)..

  13. Painted the grille today. Not sure I like it as much as the grey primer but will do a temporary fix of the badge tomorrow to see if it looks OK. Sorry about the picture quality as it is gig-ready. However it does give you a general idea of what it looks like. The paint is https://www.toolstation.com/industrial-spray-paint-500ml/p80525

  14. I've just returned to using flats again after a few years with rounds. At the moment I only have them on my Precision but have a set ready to go onto my Jazz as well. I use Chromes and always make my own custom set which are 45, 60, 80, 110 as I like a slightly heavier E so that I can drop it to D. After 5 or 6 gigs I have come to the conclusion that my Precision sounds garbage on it's own and not even close to how I would normally have it but in the mix it is absolutely perfect. The pops in We Are Family come alive with these strings and the tone is even all over the fretboard.

  17. That's a frustrating thought. How will you avoid the compulsion to carve the Christmas turkey into the shape of a bass guitar?

  24. Beats me why Fender don't do this as a matter of course. It makes SUCH a difference to the upper fret access, whether a Rascal bass or a Stratocaster electric. It's not even that they can claim it affects the performance - they do fit a similar plate on some limited models. Anyway, we've got it here now : The Fender plates are hard to come by, so this is one from Northwest Guitars - nice quality. Holes were a teeny bit out, though, so I drilled out and plugged all three and started again. I will carve the neck heel to match. And, talking of the neck, that's already gone from Eden to Los Angeles and Los Angeles to New York and New York to UK and has just landed at Heathrow! If the UK mail gets fully into gear, hopefully it should be with me by the New Year

  25. I tend to find the best band name is the one you think of just after you've finished weeks of debate, decided on one and set up the band Facebook page etc....🙄

  33. Generation 2 Super Twelve T cabinet, from Barefaced Audio. Monstrously loud, and super light. Specs here: 2X12" Speakers and adjustable tweeter. 1000 watts at 4ohms. 30” H x 19.5” W x 13.5” D (76cm x 48cm x 34cm) 19Kg. In the same condition as when I bought it from fellow Basschatter chrisbass5 on here, back in June. (I've shamelessly used his original pictures). Comes with a Roqsolid cover, which has handle apertures, (one has a slight tear, shown in the pics), a locking velcroed flap on the bottom, and for ultimate overkill protection, a board to cover the speakers, which are already protected by a metal grill. Very good condition, with some scuffing to the feet, wheels and underside of the cab. And working perfectly. Due to its relative light weight, I would be prepared to courier this cab. But until such time as somebody required shipping, I don't have a price for that, but I would imagine it will be in the region of £30-40.... Any questions, please ask. Cheers.

  38. That’s why I almost always buy secondhand - I don’t lose anything if I decide to sell them on later, plus I get a bass that was originally worth twice as much as I paid (as opposed to having a bass that originally cost me twice as much as it’s worth).

  39. Will do if it's out and snappable 😀 The whole thing with Jon reminds me of that great dedication by PG Wodehouse in one of his books: 'To my daughter Leonora without whose never-failing sympathy and encouragement this book would have been finished in half the time.'

  40. My band, the one I started, was 330ml. I happened to be supping a can of something or other at the time and thought it was a cool name. My current band, one I've joined is Kill My Night, as the antithesis of Make My Day. I think it's a slightly unfortunate idea, but it's a German band, in Germany, so maybe the sentiment doesn't matter so much. I'll leave you to decide what sort of genre they both were.
