  10. Errm... no. Especially given Kodiakblair's recent trials and tribulations with Paisley... I might consider a 50s -style pin-up though, that would be in keeping with the vibe.

  14. Given your popularity, I'd say you are faced with an unreasonably large task if you take it all on. Good luck with that. You needn't worry. We're a casual lot for the most part. So, what brings you to this forum? I'm betting you aren't looking for tips on slap technique or the TAB showing how to play the intro to Wherever I Lay my Hat as played by Pino Palladino...

  21. Hi All! Looking to tap into the fountain of knowledge again! Currently running a pedal train nano+ with 4 pedals on and a rockboard LT rechargable power supply and daisy chain... Runs fine, never had any issues, but since adding a Source audio Bass OFD the power pack is draining much quicker than when it was all analogue (I expect this is the design of the pedal). This has knocked my confidence in the rechargable supply, and it takes an age to charge! I'd ideally like something to fit under the board, but don't want to spend the earth. Are the MXR's T-Rex's and Voodoo Labs honestly worth the extra wonga as opposed to the Joyo's and amazon specials on offer? As long as it lights up it's good, right?!

  25. Instrumental (Jazz) wise, I have always played 'Autumn Leaves' in Gm & Em... This always makes me snigger. "Gm if you're playing with boppers, Em if you're with gypsy jazz cats, and whatever the flip minor if you're with a singer.' Then there is just about any key you want. Someone on the net got very busy. Bm - MJQ Cm - Oscar Peterson, Stan Getz Dm - Dave Grusin, Maynard Ferguson Ebm - Oscar Peterson Em - Martin Taylor, Joe Pass, Kenny Dorham, Benny Golson Fm - Chet Baker, Paul Desmond, Dizzie Gillespie F#m - Earl Klugh Gm - Bill Evans, Cannonball Adderley, McCoy Tyner, Wynton Marsalis, Acker Bilk, Miles Davis, Jim Hall, Kenny Burrell, Bireli Lagrene, Julian Lage, Lee Konitz, Tal Farlow, Michael Petrucciani, Scott Hamilton, Wynton Kelly All the best with the audition. 🤗

  28. For me the key to unlocking the answer here is in your first statement: you 'love the portability and sound'. If that's the case, then having something that you already really like is worth a lot when evaluating your options. The missing piece of the jigsaw is a lack of volume. My suggestion would be to get a MB 121 NY cab (and even better, if there's one available second hand in very good condition) to pair with your CMD 121P. This should do five useful things: a) increase the output of your amp from 300W to 500W; b) double the amount of air that your single cab is shifting; The combined effect of the above two will be: c) a considerable increase in volume which I'd be very surprised if it didn't meet your needs. (For comparison I have a MB AC 121 Lite which puts 500W through a single 12" speaker and I've never had to push this more than half way on either the volume or gain knobs. I'd expect your rig, with the additional 12" speaker, to be louder than mine, so you should have plenty of headroom). d) you will have the flexibility to just use your single 300W combo for smaller events and the full rig for larger events; e) the fifth (not to be dismissed) point is that you will have a matching / compact / lightweight rig with many admirers(!) which you should not have any difficulty in moving on if / when you decide to do so. ...just my tuppence worth - hope that's of some use

  30. Sort of back in the workshop today, mostly waiting for the replacement binding to arrive but out postman was late as usual and didn't arrive until nearly 4pm so at least I can get that redone tomorrow. What I did do was rout the recesses for the control cavity covers and made a former for the body bindings so I should get those done tomorrow too

  33. Collected the Eden yesterday and now, thankfully, the only noises it makes are the ones I want to hear 😊 I told Pete I was in no rush so he said he'd work on it in between other more urgent stuff - hence the extended timescale. He traced the problem to the pre-amp circuitry and, before fault-finding down to component level, checked out the price and availability of a replacement populated pcb with Marshall UK. This was in stock at such a reasonable price that it was definitely cheaper to go this way. So, Pete's charge for giving it the once-over, replacing an almost dead master volume pot and supplying/fitting the board was a very reasonable (IMHO) £120. That's exactly what I paid EMS (plus outward delivery cost) to service and replace a faulty pot on my TE AH300SMC over 10 years ago. Obviously it significantly increases the cost of this allegedly "mint" WT550 (don't know how the seller can sleep at night - hopefully he can't) but it now works a treat and I feel confident about its future reliability. Not gigged it yet but this thing sounds totally amazing through one of my BF SCG3 cabs - can't wait to hook it up to both and turn the wick up!!

  34. I have a Cioks DC-5 under my Nano. It is bulletproof, has done countless gigs, never seems to fail to power anything I throw at it, is very quiet. I umm'd and aaaah'd about the cost of it then went for it - so glad I did.

  35. Hi all - This is without a doubt the nicest, punchiest, warmest and most useable amp I have ever owned. Gutted to be selling it but the whole band is on in-ears now so I have no need for one onstage. This is basically an HD360 head built in a Neo 212 Cabinet. I find the EQ and other features very useable. Very musical compressor/ limiter. I particularly like the 'drive' control which warms things up beautifully. I'd say it's in 9/10 condition. Can't find any issues with it and it's just over a year old. Comes with a Roqsolid cover and power cable. These were over £2000 when they were still being sold last year so this is an absolute steal. I'm based in Gloucester but I travel all over (particularly London). Happy to meet somewhere if collection is too far. Was £625 - Now £575

  36. I think its the placebo effect at work regarding the jack plugs, I would be amazed if their was even the tiniest difference in tone using nickel plated vs gold plated leads

  37. That definitely qualifies as weird or wonderful, depending on your point of view... My other half would have a fit if I brought that home, which almost makes it worthwhile on it's own!

  38. I shared this in the pedal-board thread not long after I'd got it all finished off but it kinda fits better here, it's proven to be very effective. 😁 Open the box Set up/Plug-in; Stand/Microphone Plug-in tablet Plug-in the power (a single mains plug) Plug-in mono out from my mini desk into the stage box or a D.I. Strap on my bass, jack in, wedge my monitors in my lugholes and tune-up. Bosh, ready to go.

  40. Josi is a top bloke. I've used his stuff in upgrades. His humbucker sized P90s are fantastic. Frankly couldn't care less where they're made (or the price point), they're just so damn good.

  41. S'funny how anything different is dismissed as "elitist twaddle" rather than just "don't like it". Do they want vinegar or mayo with those chips? 😀 Saying that, I've got my 1st jam next week in a "rock project" with a drummer who played with Evan Parker, Paul Dunmall etc - perhaps I'll start us off with. Nice blues in E...

  42. I'm quite fussy. We sort where the PA is going first, then POWER! Got fed up of everyone acting as individuals, everything being in place and nowhere to plug in. Now we operate a factory line approach. The singer and I sort the PA and power, the drummer puts his mat in place, lights/amps/ monitors go in. Cases are not allowed in the performance space, drives me nuts moving everything three times because the stage is cluttered. I've trained the drummer to assemble his kit off stage, we run the mic cables to him and the bass/guitar mics with the kit out of the way. He then slots his stuff into place whilst we do the last of the lights and we're ready. It's an 8 piece band and too many people helping actually slows us down. If I'm playing with another band that's got pro level players I always astonished at how quiet and fuss free the process is.

  49. Yeah that is a pic of the actual nut, It's just a shame that it was going to sit too high, in hindsight I probably should have pared a bit more out of the fretboard so it could be fitted with bottom plate Here's the updated pic after the paint debacle!! Its now a bit more conservative than the blue but this was my original plan of how this project will look, I'm still going to use the bridge cover to add a bit of a retro/vintage vibe I'm thinking to maybe to try and relicing it a little bit nothing heavy just nice a subtle?? 😀
