Enfield Fusion Jazz body with 2xQuad PUPs, Badass, 3-band Glockenlang EQ with various push/pull options also and Fender neck. Neck is an MIJ 75RI of the older type with S/N on the headstock. If you want a versatile bass, this does everything from Flea BSSM era to Flea Stadium Acadium era, to Jamerson, to Stanley Clarke, to Bernard Edwards, to..... I could make this simpler by saying that if they played a Precision, a Jazz or a 'Ray, this bass can probably do it! I've overspent on some building work or this would be going nowhere (but hey I have two Enfields, so I can console myself with the other which is my keeper FL). A few other rather nice Fender-alikes will be wandering onto the market over the next few days for the same reason No trades, price is firm. Thanks. I have several decent boxes so can courier at costs although I'd prefer collection or meet up (I'm in Whitstable but get to London regularly). I'll post some more detailed pics at the weekend17 points

I'm selling this bass on behalf of my husband ......who has just gone down the pub against my advice 🤣 Only kidding! But I AM selling this 1986 fretless bass. The condition is good bearing in mind the bass is 37 years old and has been gigged within an inch of its life. No major dings just minor buckle rash. Just what you'd expect from a well loved, well played instrument. There is a fault on the main volume switch in that it keeps 'going round' and doesn't stop at top volume. This has been an issue for decades and is just part of its charm. And anyway, no-ones perfect are they? (Except me, of course!) Full specs available on WAL website but the important stuff is that it is walnut facings and ebony fretboard. Any questions, just ask away...preferably before closing time.😁 * Price came via web search which revealed a range of prices for this model / age and I have pitched it 'in the middle'. Inspection & offers more than welcome. Thanks for reading!9 points

Body bought from @pluckedout on here a few months back, it has a fast wearing LPB nitro finish that you're either going to love or hate I'd guess. Plays beautifully with (unusually in my experience) a VERY nice Mighty Mite Precision neck which I suspect has had some work round edges and dressing frets. It has a nice retro feel and with flats a nice retro tone also. Fender US 62RI PUP, lovely Gotoh lollipops also 👍 I've overspent on some building work or this would be going nowhere. A few other rather nice Fender-alikes will be wandering onto the market over the next few days for the same reason I'll post more detailed pics at the weekend No trades, price is firm. Thanks. I have several decent boxes so can courier at costs although I'd prefer collection or meet up (I'm in Whitstable but get to London regularly). I'll post some more detailed pics at the weekend with covers off etc 👍 BTW in the flesh it has a slightly more LPB tint, it doesn't look quite this blue!7 points

Hello, Up for sale a wonderful Vigier Arpege Series II. Pictures do not reflect the beauty of this beast. I can send pictures on request. I have an hardshell case. Not in pristine cosmetical condition but good enough for shipment. Whoever knows about these basses, knows about its quality. I am just selling this unit because I just got another Vigier, not as fancy as this one but good enough for what I need. The only non original thin in this bass is the pickup selector. A previous owner replaced the original one. The electronics have been fully revised an everything works as it should. The preamp on the Arpege (contrary to the preamp in the passion, IMHO) is great. Active/passive with a tone control working in both modes.6 points

I'll spare the superlatives, suffice to say these basses punch well above their weight. Unfortunately for me, that weight, 4.17 kg (9lb 3oz), is too much for my aged frame! Hence this sale and my post in "Items Wanted" for something lighter. Previous owner has swapped out the gold anodised pickguard for a black one and "upgraded" the tuners to Wilkinson's. Happy to drive a 45 minute radius from Skipton to meet up.6 points

I think folks understand that, you've nothing to be worried about. You keep asking the questions you need answers to - you didn't deserve the chaos this thread turned into.6 points

Good evening! Here's me with my bitsa Musicmaster. The neck is dated 1971, everything else has been replaced - I'm not sure about the age of the body which has been resprayed, and has a huge hole under the pickguard where a neck pickup used to be. Sounds amazing and has La Bella flats on it,5 points

NS Design Wav 4 radius in immaculate condition. There really isn’t a mark on it as far as I can see. I’m the second owner and have never gigged it. Only played at home (smoke and pet free). Great headless bass with a piezo bridge, very clever string clamp mechanism so you can use any strings you want and curved body to accommodate that middle aged spread Full disclosure, one of the zips on the gig bag is a bit dodgy. If you go past a certain point it will open but you can avoid it by pulling the other zip a bit further. I took this as a part ex a while ago, but with the recent acquisition of a squier P this is the one bass too many. All the wall hangers are full so this sits untidily on the floor. In terms of trades I don’t really want any more basses at the mo (really?!?) but always worth a punt if you have something interesting or a nice markbass 10x4 cab for example. collection preferred but will pack for your courier at your cost and risk.4 points

For those not on social media or simply missed it: Spector made some new colors available for the Euro Classic line ( Metallic Gold and Metallic Blue ) I love my Classic Euro 5 white and these colors wouldn't top that combo (or the red for that matter) but still they are nice nonetheless4 points

That is the problem with that subject, both sides think the other side is looking down on them, and frankly some people of both sides are looking down on the others for whatever reason. Wheras most people actually don't care what other people use. However, was a bit surprised it went to this level of childishness4 points

IK have totally stepped up and provided a new serial number. They did not have to do that. I am beyond grateful and frankly very, very impressed.4 points

PRICE DROP TO £450 Hi all! Selling this beautiful Epiphone Jack Casady bass in Ebony Black. This really is an immaculate example of a cult classic and I can find no marks anywhere on it, with just a minor bit of swirling in the finish. Unsure of year (I bought it second hand) but it's in superb condition. I love this bass but have just bought the Alpine White version and don't need both! The range of tones is exceptional, I used it for some acoustic and jazz stuff on the 50 setting and it fit right in, with loads of compliments about the look obviously! The warm bloom of the note with the hollowbody is just lovely. Flick a switch to 500 and you have a big up-front modern sound which pairs very well with a high gain amp or pedal. With flats it's also a whole other level. As I said above - I like these basses so much, I bought a white one which I will cherish as much as I have this one. Set up and intonated perfectly tonight with brand new Roto Nickels and it's singing like a bird with a fairly standard action of 3mm at fret 17. I have removed the scratchplate as I love the look without it, but I will of course include this in the sale. Price is £450 and I can post to anywhere in the UK for an additional £20, and she will be very well packaged. No trades thanks! Please PM me with any questions Thanks for looking Danny3 points

Honestly, Jaco "only ever needing a 4" is to me, a good enough reason to play anything but a four out of spite. And yes, that's as someone who just plays fours - I just find there's something quite arrogant about comparing everyone to Jaco. Not everyone has reverence for his music, and that's not saying we're better, we're just not him and I don't care to try. That being said, most of bass influences are or were 4 string players, they also almost always played some form of Fender and with a pick but why be limited to what players were doing 40-45 years ago if we don't want to be? Sorry, tangent.3 points

I'm using in-ears as often as possible nowadays but I always carry Pacatos in my bass case. Sometimes you can't get a feed for the in ears and I just never want to go back to the noise levels some people seem to think is clever. Don't give up on in-ears, the feeling of detachment only lasts a couple of gigs3 points

When i made my original post i was really just curious about peoples thoughts on going back to 4 string with an extender over staying on a 5 string i'm sure people have done that before - what were the pro's / con's to doing it, did they find playing a 4 string easier than a 5'er etc... in hindsight i should have expected the post to get a bit "ermmmm well as it has gone" and maybe just done it without asking and found out for myself - but as this is a bass community i was curious on other peoples opinions. It started out well with people having opinions it seems.. but has degraded somewhat from page 1 to now. There was no malicious intent when i made the post - honestly just after thoughts Admin feel free to close off the topic i've made my decision to get a 4 string fit an extender and give it a shot see how it feels - all the while keeping my BB1025 in the background just in case Right - think i'll end this here. The fact that 3 string basses have been totally ignored in all of this is a tragedy. All 3 string bassists should be mortally offended.3 points

It's definitely a one trick pony. But it's also very beautiful and I don't currently own any ponies that do that particular trick.3 points

Nobody cares what I think but hey this is a forum and I like it here, so.......There is absolutely no point in the OP's question. People do what they do and that's fine. But I will say this. I detect an insidious tone whenever this subject is brought up, in that if you play a five then you are somehow musicaly superior and cleverer than those of us who don't, and to those greats in the past who didn't. Beyond ridiculous and in a peculiar way brings this forum into disrepute...3 points

I never bothered with any of this until my last band, I have a piece of each bit of merch we did, plus a copy of the gig listings. I also have a tattoo of the bands logo, all the names of the countries we played (9) and the logo of the Rebellion Festival with the years we played it.3 points

Facebook update - it looks like Leszek is listening to feedback. The work that goes into these, man. Amazing. 'Works on WB-100 tube heads are underway. In 7-10 days, the first copies of the latest series will appear. We have made minor changes to the appearance of the case, nuances and levels that affect the overall sound of the head have been calibrated. We have improved the signal level at the Line Out output. We corrected the signal level on the third tube in the preamplifier. These works were purely cosmetic, more for decency than to improve sound.' https://www.facebook.com/HandBoxAudio/posts/pfbid0FVbWoMxgJtQhmdXVruGtNUsMPxfzorNcxaN7xKM2Qup9KVKgAuYCC8Q8GbN6yU2Fl3 points

Also, is there any cost involved in cancellation? Most studios require 24 or 48 hours notice to avoid a charge. If you're using a commercial venue and there is no (apparent) charge I'd be thinking the venue was told in advance. I agree that you need to lay it on the line for them. You have your own standards and you shouldn't compromise them.3 points

I don't get the "4 string was used on the original, so that's what I need to do" comments. Sometimes I play songs that were originally recorded on double bass. Why would I buy a DB for those songs? Forget the gear used on the original recordings. That is irrelevant. What bass feels right to you? Use that bass and make the songs yours, not carbon copies of someone else's ideas.3 points

Two things that caught my eye when seeing what's happening in Sandberg-land. A new Ida Nielsen model and a custom Central. Very much yes to both!3 points

Do the "two in charge" have much previous gigging form? The situation you're describing sounds like one of those projects that never really gets off the ground because some members like the idea of being in a band more than the reality of actually commiting the time and effort to make it happen.3 points

Also fun fact, Jaco Pastorius's son, Felix Pastorius, who is also an absolute monster bass player, plays 6 string bass. And if following that tendency statistically Felix's son will play a 9 string bass...2 points

That's why they have different dB ratings, so, depending on the band and their volume, you can hear everything.2 points

Agreed ! And what about the bassists who play three string basses with two strings ? This incessant marginalisation of the intersectionality of fretboard/string count determinism cannot go on ! Shadowy Cabals ! Vested Interests !2 points

It gets worse! 5, 4, miss out 3, then 2 gets a mention!!! I'm currently a 3 string bass player but that's mainly due to having broken a string.2 points

I have told this story before, but I was once asked by a clown that thought he could mix to turn down my bass amp as it was too loud and causing boom. It kept happening till eventually had the master volume at 0. Of course, he did not believe me until I told him to mute the PA and played my bass, of course nothing came out.2 points

A Hipshot Kickass 4 will take them. I just had a 4-string bass set up correctly in B-E-A-D with one. With the Kickass there are two sets of intonation screws, one set short, one set long. If you use the bridge B-E-A-D tuning, use the short screws and you’re fine. The tracks on the bridge are long enough to accommodate both tunings.2 points
