Here’s something you don’t see every day!! I recently received this absolutely stunning example of a Moollon in a trade for a bass i was selling to fund a vintage bass purchase! This one is pretty Unique as it was made for Paul Turner of Jamiroquai and has options that aren’t usually available like a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard + binding on a J width neck! It was also owned by Keith Duffy! (Who i received it from! Absolutely Lovely chap!!) The neck was based on Paul’s 66 jazz bass and i can confirm that it feels beautiful! it’s a light weight example too at 8lbs 6oz it even comes with the strings Paul used to record Runaway! 🤯 (they were taken off the bass he recorded that song with and put on this bass! Seriously cool!) As much as i would LOVE to keep this my mission for a vintage bass is still my focus…. so… long shot I know but I’m ideally looking to trade this + cash for a 60s fender. I’m open to Ps or Js so if you have something like that let me know and we can work out a deal 👍🏼 also happy to negotiate a sale if the trade option doesn’t end up happening. Photos attached including one from Paul’s website. If you need any more photos or if you have any questions please get in touch. FullSizeRender.MOV15 points

Added the 410 today. I need do a test load in my car but I'm pretty sure it all fits for those times when you just want a little bit of edge in a venue. It provides me with a lot of flexibility in set up. Pretty excited to find a venue I can put it all at now....but I'll definitely be practicing with it all over the next few weeks. ✌️🧙♂️7 points

In Isolation, plus Gothzilla and Eyrx London in York last night at the Fulford Arms. The venue has completely changed since The Terrortones use play on the tiny stage crammed into one corner of the room. Big proper stage and a decent PA and lighting rig. Everything wass much more relaxed that Thursday's gig probably helped by the fact there were only 3 bands playing and everyone was sound-checked in plenty of time before the doors opened. And a decent sized crowd for a rainy Friday night. Played well, sounded good and got a proper encore too! There will be photos but no-one's posted any on Facebook yet. Last gig of the tour tonight at The Acoustic Couch in Bracknell.7 points

A few weeks back I bought this off @fuzzylogic. As I'm in south Wales he very generously delivered it to my parents in Coventry. Today was the first chance I had to come and get it. Rather than a round trip in a day I brought a bass and cab with me. I also got a new badge for the amp from Ashdown. This sounds so bloody good. Now my CTM300 has a Mini Me. I can't wait to get back home on Monday,.6 points

As an update to my earlier post about acquiring a 735a… it seemed to develop an issue with the preamp and was very noisy, and has therefore been returned. In the meantime, a BB P35 came up for £200 or so more than the 735a cost, so that’s now mine. back to back, they’re very different beasts. The 735a was great to play and the preamp offered quite a lot of options, all usable. But, the P35 is a different thing. In short, it just feels different, like a good example of a vintage Fender that has been played, no frills, but something special. Hard to describe, but it’s just there. The 735a to me was an entirely different flavour. They share some hardware, but aesthetics aside, weren’t similar to me at all. Both great in different ways, but the P35 has a bit of magic about it.6 points

I remember when a Precision bass was 122 gns. That's what I paid in 1969. The only problem. . . . in 2023 money that is £1976.83 and a Jazz bass was about £2336.70. That was for bog-standard burst. Custom colours were extra. Basses are not more expensive than they were. The difference is these days you can buy a great bass for a few hundred pounds and you couldn't do that 60 years ago.5 points

This bass is in excellent condition. The spec is as follows. Alembic Europa 5 string bass Scale Length Long scale 34" Neck through design with maple and purpleheart construction Ebony fretboard Adjustable height brass nut Solid machined brass bridge with brass saddes mounted to a large brass sustain block Solid machined brass tailpiece. Top wood is Bocate Body is solid mahogany Headstock has a bocate laminate on front and back, with cast brass alembic logo on the front. Tuners are gold coloured. Pickups are alembic MXY low impedance pickups. The Europa controls are volume, pan, filter, Q switch, bass boost/cut switch, treble boost/cut switch. The quick tone switches are bass and treble and are not individual switches for the pickups. Each switch provides 6db boost, flat, and 6db cut. side mounted 1/4" mono jack (see image link) http://club.alembic.com/Images/16271/106010.jpg (Owners Manual) http://www.alembic.com/support/care.html The bass is a neck through design made from maple and purpleheart. Ebony There is an inlay of my initials in the 12th fret which was done by Jaydee custom guitars about 12 years or so ago plus and my name engraved on the truss rod cavity which i may be able to remove if if is a deal breaker or the buyer can just reverse it. The switches are mounted on chrome plated washers as a few years i installed some East ACG filter based electronics which required enlarging the existing switch holes to fit the filter controls. The original electronics have been back in the bass for ages now but I had to get larger washers mount the original switches. If I can find some black washers I will install those instead. The back control cavity cover is gold plated and was like that when i bought the bass. What else can I say. Well it is a great sounding bass and i am only selling it because it is not getting enough playing time so i'd rather it went to someone who will give it more attention. Send me a PM if interested. I have an original case for it also. Some information from the Alembic web site. EUROPA With its elegant and understated form, the Europa bass is the type of instrument you return to again and again, and each time you're reminded of why you love this bass so much. From the moment you wear it on strap, comfort and balance greet you. Plugging into the side mounted jack gives a satifying "kerchunk" in response. Once your amp warms up, the tone that piqued your interest in the first place comes flowing back. This bass is home. Quick tone change switches give instant access to useful on-the-fly sounds. When you're ready to take that solo, you can simply flick the bass and treble switches to the boost position, knowing full well that when you're finished, that original sound is just a click away. The Europa comes standard with Alembic's classic Maple and Purpleheart neck lamination pattern. This engineered beam supports even response across the Ebony fingerboard, and assures that snappy Alembic brilliance will be delivered at every note. Like most Alembic basses, Europas are quite happy in a variety of musical settings. Turn the low-pass filters down to 300Hz for deep tones suitable for blues. Turned up to 6KHz, there's plenty of zing for slap or driving rock technique with a pick. Versatility puts the tone control in your heart and your hands. Since each Europa bass is handcrafted right in our one-and-only shop in Santa Rosa, California, you are able to custom order any aspect of the bass. Custom fingerboard dimensions, wood choices, decorative details, or even things not yet invented are possible. More information Here are some soundcloud clips from a rehearsal with this bass. This is an amazing sounding bass and I have used it on numerous gigs though in recent years I have used it less and less as I have been using my two filter bass more. I would love this bass to go to someone who can get more use out of it than I can. I would prefer not to post it if at all possible and if you want to try before you buy, i can arrange that in my mate's studio so you can hear it at full bore.4 points

HOT off the blocks today then. An inaugural win, with a most excellent and popular entry from @AndyTravis who was right on the ball with his choice off picture for us. "I’ve had this saved for years - wanted it to be an album cover…I just reminded me of how I was (pre fatherhood) - A class clown, I still chuckle when I see it - it was an early crash helmet test." This could be a barrel of fun ....sorry! Simple rules ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and deadline. ✖️ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ✖️ Bagpipes. please no bagpipes, the April fools Day truce truce has just expired . ✖️ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you.. Deadline wise , we will go for the 23rd which means you'll probably have till tea time on the 24th ....if I'm back from my holiday in time! A line or two of blurb as well for the vote thread will be lovely. Have fun4 points

We had our first gig as a new band (The 77’s) last night at The Oak Tavern in Sevenoaks. it went really well, the place was packed and the crowd seemed to really enjoy it. We had a few errors here and there but nothing terrible. couldn’t have asked for anything more from a first gig. I had to hire a head for the night as my recent purchase was faulty, but the hire amp did the job.4 points

Over £5000 for an S2000 or over £7000 for a 40th Anniversary, Jesus wept. I love Status but this feels like one final gouge before the lights go out. I suppose this is what one must think of when shutting up business for good.4 points

Not a bass yet, but surely that's next? "Are you ready for the future? Say hello to the WORLD’S FIRST AI GUITAR!🤖 Drawing influence from movies like Terminator and I, Robot, the master luthiers at Ibanez’s Fuji-Jen workshop threw the rulebook out and set their proprietary AI software one task… Build the ultimate rock machine. By inputting the most advanced features available today, they have created something that in 20 years of selling guitars, we could never have comprehended - The IBANEZ RGAI0104. The results are breathtaking. Featuring brand new Photon pickups, a body made from Walnut and Carbon Fibre (with a powder-coated semi-metallic finish from the automotive industry), along with a detachable ‘Cybernetic’ neck that sports a 25.8” scale length (extra tension) and a conical radius fingerboard. Our minds are blown, frankly.🤯" https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02GeLLQEFsR5jGCUW7BzUhVZJvid5tJ8EwwSYPmxHtwyXFZCPNTd63NbRUARSrxF6Tl&id=1000444948669623 points

This one? I actually had a second 8x10 stack with a Laney PB400 too, only used them both at the same time once, in a warm up gig for the Styx tour with Double Cross. It was a lot of fun and luckily the police didn’t arrive till after we’d finished 😂3 points

No words needed really. It was love at first sight (the bass!!) and I was soon to discover that a friend's brother had one in the same colour. I can still feel the wonder as he opened the case it was in.3 points

After 11 months almost to the day my special order bass is here in plenty of time for my birthday. After trying a much cheaper shortscale and really enjoying it, particularly when playing with a plectrum I decided to get something from my favourite bass brand. The Lionels are often quite lightweight anyway but they do sometimes get up to a massive 8.5lb... So I asked if a Superlight version was possible and it was, for only a modest extra fee of about £140 over the usual price. I also went for a rosewood board with abalone dots. I am informed that this is the first Superlight Lionel that has been built. It arrived this morning and I've had a 20 minute play. From previous experience I often find Sandbergs to be quite bright sounding basses and I was halfway expecting to swap the pickup or the pots or both. As it happens this bass is not excessively bright, in fact the top end is pleasingly mellow. I think I'll be keeping the electronics as is, at least for now. As expected the stock strings are not to my taste at all. I've got a couple of used sets of strings to try to see what suits it best - Ti Flats and EB Group flats (not cobalt ones) and I'll give each set a proper go before deciding on what new set to get. Now the big question. The weight... It's just under 2.6kg / 5.7lb !!!😲 It balances perfectly too. Massive thanks to Mark at Classic and Cool Guitars for the excellent service throughout the process - he's been top notch keeping me fully informed and replying to questions really quickly.2 points

Putting this out as a feeler, would be interested in a potential swap for a 4 string spector The highly sought after 2005 USA Fender Jazz Bass with S1 switch. For those unfamiliar with the S1 switching it adds a lovely deep boost to the tone, excellent for slap bass tones and a nice little boost to cut through a mix live. Recently set up and plays lovely. Bridge has been upgraded to a Babicz locking cam bridge which is great for improved tone sustain! It’s in really good condition for it’s age, no dents or chips, some light swirl marks but great nick! Previous owner had bought it from new, barely played it so it’s spent most of its life in a box. There’s a slight mark on the back of the headstock where the wood is a slightly different colour but it’s just where the sicker had been left on while it spent it’s life neglected in a box. updated to include fender hard case! Here's your chance to grab one of these classic 3Leaf Audio pedals. This unit was recommended to me by my friend Paul Turner (Jamiroquai). He's got two of s himself. The last pic I've uploaded is a pic of one of Paul's Wonderlove pedals, with a sticker showing his settings for playing Virtual Insanity with the band. £150 delivered in the UK2 points

If you want more power than you'll ever need for little money then a there's a Bugera Veyron in the marketplace for like £170 delivered. Claims to put out 2000w but that is peak, realistically it's going to give you around 700w which is still huge! It's not a high end brand that people will gush at, but those that have tried them seem pretty impressed, and they are pretty small and light (in comparison to most things, not so much the Elf). Another option for cheap, small form-factor power is the Harley Benton B800 - that has the same 800w Icepower Class D power amp that many of the big brands are using but at a fraction of the price. Both options will give you more power than you'll likely ever need - if you need more, then you probably need a PA. The only question is whether you can dial in a tone you like. You could probably try the likes of a used Bugera Veyron and shift it on for the same price, so very low risk to have a play and see what you think. Which cabinet to go for is a bigger minefield IMHO!2 points

This was a bit of a spur of the moment decision but after seeing it on Thomann's B-Stock page at a very good price I thought I'd chance my arm. I've been looking for a lightweight bass for a while now due to back and hip problems as a result of lots of rugby and recently tried (and returned) an Epiphone Newport. I had bid on a Pelham Blue Jack Casady recently that sadly was withdrawn but was unsure of how the body shape would sit on me with a 34" scale neck. Anyway, I had one of these Guilds before and foolishly decided to move it on, so when one came up in Pelham Blue and weighing in at under 7lbs I decided to go for it. It arrived today and after a bit of minor tweaking (mainly pickup height) I strung it with a set of TI Flats which "just" about work from a length perspective (slightly too long on the G) it's ready to go and sounds great. For a B-Stock instrument I can't see a mark on it. After a break from short scales I'm really pleased the way this one hangs on a strap.2 points

In Isolation mini tour at The Fidler's Elbow in Camden along with X-Superstar, Gothzilla and Feather Trade. On the whole went well although with the venue not opening until 5, getting all 4 bands sound checked before Feather Trade were due on-stage at 8.00 was a bit of a struggle. However well done to the venue's sound engineer who managed to keep on top of all the bands' different sound requirements and made sure that everything ended up being plugged in where it should be during each changeover. And according to those members of the audience I spoke to afterwards made us sound awesome FoH. No photos as yet, but there were at least 2 professional looking photographers in attendance so no doubt I'll be posting something later. Off to York (Fulford Arms) tonight with Gothzilla and Eyrx London.2 points

Great cabs but as my main band made the switch to IEMs about six years ago, it's probably time to admit that I'm unlikely to get the chance to use them in anger any time soon. Full specs can be found here: https://www.gallien-krueger.com/neo-112-specs They are clearly used but in very good condition with only one or two minor scuffs to the tolex. Worth noting that one handle on each cab has lost its spring (mechanically speaking - I don't think anything has actually fallen out!) but they both remain perfectly usable. Roqsolid covers included, both of which have some nicks in them (see photos) but are in decent shape. Ideally looking for a straight sale but I could be interested in a deal involving a Markbass 121P/H combo. Collection from Haywards Heath preferred, alternatively I’d be happy to meet within a reasonable distance.2 points
