A rare outing for The Daz Kelly Band, playing for a birthday party at the King William pub, Milford Derbyshire. Daz on Guild resonator, me on Harley Benton shorty P and Craig on the boxes. There’s a nice photograph on the wall behind us. The landlord had a ride in the two-seater Spitfire as a special birthday present.7 points

BASS NOW SOLD *Further items will be posted later* Due to severe illness it's regretable that I have to part with my basses. First up is this 1966 Fender Jazz Bass in Candy Apple Red with matching headstock. This was valued at £9,000 with a resale value of £7,500 Two issues with this: 1. There is a quarter turn left in the truss rod and minor curvature in the neck. I have been quoted (by Gerald at 'No Tom') a maximum figure of £500 to rectify this although the problem is not perceived as being so major and would likely cost much, much less than that. The curvature isn't bad and has remained static for the last twenty-two years. The bass in eminently playable. 2. The pickguard is not original: the original had been engraved and had (had) the top bout removed. The current pickguard was made by request to the Fender workshop when they had the warehouse and workshop in Hendon in the late 1990's. To compensate for costing these issues I am letting the bass go at £5,500. The bass is otherwise all original with no refinishing I don't have the health or the means to make any more pictures but feel free to come to my flat and inspect the instrument. Due to my health and the security risk to me there would be a second person present. To be clear I WILL NOT BE POSTING THIS OUT, THIS IS COLLECTION ONLY from LONDON N16 points

My daughter was until recently in a band called Herbivores until the vegan singer left and told them they couldn't use the name any more. She threw a bit of a tantrum when they renamed themselves Carnivores. What else could they do?6 points

So the clear-out continues, Classic story - I need to raise some money, I have basses I don’t really want to part with to sell to raise funds for the next bass. I’m listing a load of basses so as soon as I’ve hit my target I’ll withdraw the rest. Please feel free to hit me up with near offers - I’m willing to listen. Great Jazz this, actually my favourite sounding apart from my custom shop! It’s basically a Classic Vibe Jazz (one of the nice early ones too) that was offered as the guy from Biffy Clyro’s signature instrument. I did briefly install a Kigon series/parallel loom in this, but put it back to stock as it is now. Very good overall condition with some play wear as expected for its age. Small chip on the headstock - See pics. All the look and feel of a 60’s Jazz without the need to remortgage the house. Now discontinued so grab it while its on offer. No case I'm afraid with this either. Blurb: http://www.squierwiki.com/AS-James-Johnston-Jazz-Bass I would very much prefer collection in person here in north London (N21) as I can demo the bass with an amp and make sure that the potential buyer is happy. However I do have a couple of shipping boxes that I would be willing to post basses in at the buyers risk. I may be able to meet within a reasonable distance and I’m always in central London for gigs.5 points

Bought back in 2020 as a backup bass, but truth is it just doesn’t get any play time as my main bass is an MIA jazz bass. This is version 2 of the bass, it plays great, preamp with bass/mid/treble control, active/passive switch, quilted maple top, rolled fretboard edges. The bass is pretty much immaculate aside from some slight buckle rash on the back. Comes with the clear pick guard and chrome pickup cover, never been installed. I’ll throw a set of Rotosound Swing Bass I have laying around on it this evening. Any questions just send me a message, and of course welcome to come test the bass out before buying! Would prefer not to post, so collection from Portsmouth or willing to meet halfway. If I’ve missed out anything let me know, just quickly throwing this advert up whilst I’m at work 😄 cheers!4 points

Folks, some sad news today. I visited our very own @ash this afternoon for our annual P bass exchange and to my horror it would appear that ash is down to his last 3 P basses. This is very worrying indeed and I have offered a much emotional support as I can. In order not to aggravate ash's condition could I ask for a short moratorium on posting any pics of P basses or indeed any listing of P basses for sale. It's a difficult time for ash and I'm sure the BC community will support. Thank you.4 points

I was so enamoured with this bass when I got it that I decided to tart it up a bit so I added a full set of black Hipshot HB-7’s and a BT7 D’tuner and a black Gotoh 201 bridge which improved things no end. This has a slightly smaller body that your standard P and has active electronics. Great weight, sound and playability. Overall in very nice nick, but there is some flaking of the paint around the cavity at the back - see pictures. This was there when I bought it and hasn't gotten any worse since. EDIT - I have the original tuners that I will include in the sales too - standard Fender 90's MIM chrome. I would very much prefer collection in person here in north London (N21) as I can demo the bass with an amp and make sure that the potential buyer is happy. I may well have posted this before but it's a banger from the very odd African Head Charge. Quite difficult to put into a reggae (or any other) category so to speak, but that's a good thing right?3 points

Dunlop all the way for me as well. The Schallers had a tendency to flip upside down on the strap, and although they still seemed to stay firmly attached I never quite trusted them. The locking mechanism was also a bit more fiddly. I prefer the Dunlop buttons that also double as regular strap buttons, since I don't use strap locks at home (usually), but the ones that sit flush with the instrument are definitely pretty appealing in terms of looks. Before I started using "real" strap locks I used those Dunlop plastic ones, and they worked really well. Really secure, cheap and easy to use.3 points

My most recent strap was a vegan Right On one. Not bought because I'm vegan (I'm not), but because I was curious and it's really nice. A bit grabby at the back, but not as much as a suede strap, so it doesn't pull at my clothing in the same way. Feels like it'll last a long time.3 points

My covers band is Turnette Doone Named by a Scottish sound engineer many years ago, and long before I joined them, at their first gig. The following historic exchange works best with a very broad Scottish accent where appropriate.... Scottish sound engineer: "What's yer name?" Band: "We haven't got one" Scottish sound engineer: "Yer far too 'effin loud - turnette doone!!!" And thus Turnette Doone was created.3 points

The Laney Digbeth would be a good option as you can switch between the FET (clean) preamp and the tube, and have the tube setup with some drive on it. The footswitch can be set to do a swap between the FET and tube or add the tube as a mix to the FET. For the former, you can set the volume for the FET and tube separately so you could match them easily. For the OP, it might be worth checking this video out, it's pretty good for a comparison of lots of preamp pedals in situ, being played in different genres, in a band mix with a focus on the bass:3 points

Fantastic condition Elwood 5 that was built for bass direct from which I purchased it. I was so impressed I got one built To my specs and this has been largely unused since. chambered body and lightweight hardware- it’s my lightest bass by far. I'm certain this is the bass in this video; It's the only one with these specs in the video section of the Maruszczyk youtube channel.2 points

Classic short scale that sounds like a weird Jazz bass and weighs literal nothing. I can find only one tiny dink on the edge of the body otherwise it’s immaculate. Hardly played, still has the shop sticker on the back plate. Unleash your inner Carol Kaye! Fun little bass - needs a new home please. Price drop - £275! Nice Squier version of the classic Mustang bass. Great fit and finish like all the CV range. This one is in very good/almost new condition (no knocks, dings or fret wear) and has a nice set of Labella low tension flats fitted giving thumpy 60's tones. Nice weight too, only selling as my Nordstrand Acinonyx covers this ground and more. No case I'm afraid. Very happy to demo the bass here in N21 - Winchmore Hill, North London. I'd much prefer collection in person, but I can also post at cost in the UK if needed as I do have a proper shipping box from another bass I purchased from Andertons in the summer. Feedback here:2 points

Hello all, As usual pics to follow but also as usual pedals are in excellent condition, both are in the original Meris packaging (although the Meris stickers are now on my barbeque - I will entertain offers on the barbeque for those interested). In my odyssey of bitcrushing this came out on top, mainly because: 1) the sound quality is fabulous - the filter in particular is worth it on it's own 2) terrific range from subtle to bonkers 3) control options are excellent, either exp or midi based with the IO (the IO enables presents but will also enable midi exp if you are set up for that - so best of both worlds) I want some other stuff hence this is on the block. My plans to retain excellent pedals even when I go through periods of not using them never seem to prove sustainable Btw you need a TRS jack for the IO midi, I'm sure I have something I can include if you need it No trades please (no really), cash required. I am also selling a Spaceman Polaris and couple of cabs though so deals possible if you are interested in more than one Cheers, Abd2 points

Best advice from this numpty is: the mobile app is very easy to use. If you choose pre made patches and just edit the output level, bass and treble and mix levels, it's a good 'way in' to the editor. @Quatschmacher's patches are the best.2 points

Probably, but thermal power capacity has no relationship with maximum SPL. A 100w driver with 5mm xmax will go 3dB louder than a 200w driver with 3.5mm xmax.2 points

My very first bass was a medium scale cream Columbus tele bass and I've had a soft spot for them ever since. Here are my current Tele basses. An original '69, which I love as it has the DNA of the very first P bas in it's design and has a great woody growl from the single coil pickup. The Japanese Paisley blue bass was my workhorse for many years tuned down a tone to D and used in a blues quartet, finished with the matching blue strings it attracted many comments!2 points

VTDI is excellent, and very versatile. It’s what I use now. I’ll post more tomorrow but here is one of the better demos of it. No talking, just on screen explanations and some of the many sounds you can get from this ‘magic box’: One quick thing to note is the Blend knob. I’ve read a ton of stuff on this pedal and while some would say you either want cab simulation / tube emulation or you don’t, just because the sample settings have the Blend at 100% doesn’t mean you have to. I’ve seen plenty of examples (and tried myself of course) of people having the Blend at 3pm, noon or even just left of noon. I’ve never been keen on it fully cranked myself. Lots of options with this box2 points

Hi guys, Recently picked up this outstanding 5 string USA P from bass bros for £1.1k but as I currently have 3 5 string P's in the house the last in is first out. It's been setup really well after purchase with a very low action and a brand new set of LaBella deep talkin' flats, sounds amazing, looks amazing, plays amazing... amazing. Below is the Bass Bros spiel and I'm using Will's photos as they're much better than what I could do. Comes with original flight case and all case candy. Shipping is by 24 hour UPS at a cost of £40. Trades are a maybe, just not a 5 string P Bass... oh but any trade must be 5 string. ---------------- This great 2009 Fender American Standard Precision Bass V, in the classic olympic white finish with tortoiseshell pickguard, plays and sounds unbelievably great! It is in great condition for its age, with some very small marks to the body but nothing major. We have given the bass a full health check including checking trussrod, electronics, etc. Everything works perfectly as it should. Included is the original hardcase, etc. Serial Number – Z9475260 Year – 2009 Colour – Olympic White Body Finish – Gloss Body Wood – Alder Neck Finish – Satin Neck Wood – Maple Fretboard – Rosewood Frets – 20 Scale Length – 34″ Weight – 9lbs5oz/4.2kgs Electronics – Passive Pickups – Fender P Gigbag/Hardcase – Hardcase ---------------- Thanks2 points
