  2. *Further items will be posted later* Due to severe illness it's regretable that I have to part with my basses. This time, a 1972 Sunburst Fender Jazz Bass. This was valued at £4,000 with a resale value of £3,500 - £3,750 One issue with this... The bridge pick-up was re-wound to original spec on the original bobin via The Bass Gallery around 2001 and has behaved itself ever since. Bass comes with original case The bass is otherwise all original with no refinishing I don't have the health or the means to make any more pictures but feel free to come to my flat and inspect the instrument. Due to my health and the security risk to me there would be a second person present. To be clear I WILL NOT BE POSTING THIS OUT, THIS IS COLLECTION ONLY from LONDON N1
  3. Had the pleasure of selling a 66 Jazz to Guy who has to be possibly the most agreeable chap I've ever sold to. A simple no quibble transaction with a top fella who understood the deal from the get-go. Great transaction and possibly even greater banter. I would happily do business with Guy again and again: he's knowledgable and straighforward - and a lovely fella to have over. Sorry I never got around to making you a brew, Guy - I'll make you two, next time. Guy's an excellent buyer.

  5. BASS NOW SOLD *Further items will be posted later* Due to severe illness it's regretable that I have to part with my basses. First up is this 1966 Fender Jazz Bass in Candy Apple Red with matching headstock. This was valued at £9,000 with a resale value of £7,500 Two issues with this: 1. There is a quarter turn left in the truss rod and minor curvature in the neck. I have been quoted (by Gerald at 'No Tom') a maximum figure of £500 to rectify this although the problem is not perceived as being so major and would likely cost much, much less than that. The curvature isn't bad and has remained static for the last twenty-two years. The bass in eminently playable. 2. The pickguard is not original: the original had been engraved and had (had) the top bout removed. The current pickguard was made by request to the Fender workshop when they had the warehouse and workshop in Hendon in the late 1990's. To compensate for costing these issues I am letting the bass go at £5,500. The bass is otherwise all original with no refinishing I don't have the health or the means to make any more pictures but feel free to come to my flat and inspect the instrument. I can confirn Adam Roberts' assertions as I too have had really bad work done by this bloke (or not, as the lie may prove), doing work he wasn't requested to do and doing a s*** job of it when he did. I got my instruments out of there as quick as I could before he ****** them up completely. I *did* pay the invoice - but only with the express intention of getting my stuff back from him as quickly as possible. He has no idea how to fix a neck, so **** knows why he thinks he's qualified enough to tell people he can make a neck. He can't. His website reads like a Lewis Carol novel - pure self-agrandising fiction that you don't question until you've actually experienced this clown, but once you do you see it for what it is.     Fullerton's finest... The 62 re-ish has to be the best thing ever to come out of that factory. This one on the left has played almost a thousand performances in almost as many absolute s***-holes. It's been knocked off it's stand, had bottles broken on it, been covered in beer, blood and myriad other questionable fluids. I was unhappy with the nut when I bought it from Wapping in 1983. Charlie Chandler obliged. A Roto 66 custom set was put on at that time and of course it was re-set. The strings are still the same ones... and have been boiled twice. The frets are still ace. The action and intotation always were and still are excellent. It sounds like everything you want a Jazz to sound like. It's been cleaned once. It's still goes to work now and again...
  11. Are there any luthiers people wouldn't recommend? Also.... has anybody ever employed the services of a Joseph Kaye of Southgate Road, London N1...?
  12. I've used Swarfega on occasion and it worked well. This may not work well on all sticker adhesives. Beyond that, constant patient work with liquid detegent and warm water - this may require a body buff after the job. Old sticker glue can alter the colour tone of the finish - even if it's black! Some may recommend naptha (napthalene) and while I'm sure it'll do the job you'll have difficulty obtaining the raw commodity and you'll need some serious skin, eye and respiratory protection if and while you're using it.
