  1. So after ordering 11months ago (almost to the day), my Moollon P-Classic IV has arrived. It got delayed by about a month due to Covid-related logistics issues, but other than that, it was a smooth ride from start to finish. I primarily went with Moollon because I don’t believe that there’s anyone hand-building instruments from scratch (Including hardware) to this level of ‘vintage Fender’ for this kinda price. Plus Tim Lefebvre and Kevin Scott rock my world lol. Had it strung with La Bella 760FS from factory, because that’s what will live on it for long-term I imagine. And with my 1971 Precision (because why not): Cheers Si

  3. So that shuker I bought recently isn't right for me, the neck and the string spacing is too big for my hands, and the number of strings is just confusing to me, but one thing I realised is how the quality of the build was. So with quite a bit of talking to Jon, selling my stick and a few other things, and a longing that has been with me since the LBGS in 17, I present something that pretty well everyone who went to the LBGS in 2017 will probably remember. Shuker Uberhorn, 33" neck, 17mm spacing, delano pickups and john east pre. Weighs about nothing!

  5. Looking to Sell my Warwick Custom Shop Thumb 4, this was ordered new from Warwick in 2017, by the previous owner, it's not seen a lot of use, mostly home, so is in fantastic condition, a little string wear on the neck pickup but otherwise great. This is the latest spec with the matching tuning pegs, truss rod cover and control cavity cover. It has the latest spec pickups and preamp, the one with the USB charging (although it can be converted to battery easily with the battery clip that comes with it). This one was built to be tuned BEAD, I have replaced the Just-a-nut to a standard 4 string one from Warwick shop, I will include the BEAD nut in the sale. The bass is utterly brilliant as you would expect from a Masterbuilt Warwick, fantastic in every respect . It comes with everything it came with from the factory including a rather lovely very heavy duty black leather gig bag. Collection would be preferred but happy to ship, i have large guitar boxes. posting would be at buyers risk and cost. happy to meet halfway within reason for contribution to fuel costs Open to offers on the asking price, interested in trades in synths etc. I think the pictures speak for themselves, genuine reason for sale, I am suffering with Carpel tunnel/RSI hand problems I have used some of Jon' original ad, i hope he does not mind, its much better than my efforts

  6. Due to switching mainly to keys, ive finally decided to sell this bass. I brought it new in June 2019 from Kennys’ music. Its been gigged a very few times, very well looked after. Mostly home playing though. Ive added Schaller straplocks (the old style) in vintage chrome to match the rest of the hardware. I still have the originals. No issues with neck/TR/Tuners etc. Its been well looked after. Weight is roughly 9.7lbs. Scales keep showing different readings. Been as low as 9.4lbs though so taking the average here. Its not a lightweight bass, but its a comfortable bass to wear for long periods. Just two small issues: The first is a small dig in the headstock (pictured). The other is a small dent in the body on the bottom of the bass (as you hold it). The paintwork hasn’t cracked, its just a small dent. It was in a gig bag at the time which softened it. Hard to photograph but ill sort something out. Comes with hard case and tools. The case has never been used, only opened to get the bass out once. Not looking to post as i prefer to deal face to face so item can be inspected, so would mean collection from Holborn EC1 in london or somewhere in central london area. Not looking for trades but could be open to a very, very close offer. Any questions ask away.

  7. Steve Harris Precision, the current one. It ticks many boxes for me but just couldn’t have an instrument with another teams badge on it -and to be honest I wouldn’t want my own teams badge on an instrument either.

  10. There’s the funny old thing with Guitar/Music shops. The retailers complain about the discount merchants - so their big accounts try to resolve it. The discount merchants are in a race to make the least margin. Usually from a web store rather than shop front. The customers want top notch service and an opportunity to try before they buy...but don’t want to pay what they perceive to be over the odds. It’s a lose/lose situation for everyone. When in the trade, my colleagues and I used to tear our hair out over it. We used to have people come in and try things, ask if we’d match a price which was £4 profit on an £800 sale...was very disheartening. They’d purchase the same instrument online, and come to us when there was a problem - and then be dissatisfied with the fact that as a Fender/Gibson/Epiphone dealership, we wouldn’t sort the problems they were experiencing as warranty repair. Also that we wouldn’t resolve an issue with a Fender bought from Thomann in Germany by sending it to Fender GBI to fix...for free. The list goes on, I’m not sure that price fixing or MAP pricing is the pure evil it’s made out to be. But I’ve seen both sides.

  12. I'm selling my Sandberg VS4 to consolidate my bass collection - I bought this last year as a backup bass for my VT4 but I don't play it very often and not being in a band I don't have a need for a backup. Condition is very good - I changed the stock pickup to a Nordstrand NPJ4V for a more vintage vibe, to me it improved the tone massively - if you don't want this let me know and I'll take it out and swap it for the Delano pickup from the VT4. When I initially replaced the pickup it was quite noisy which ended up being a shielding issue. I had to use a fair amount copper tape to resolve this, not my best work but it was effective. Picture included if what's going on underneath the pickguard. Currently strung with La Bella Low Tension flats. I believe this is the relevant specification Body: alder Bolt-on neck: maple Fretboard: Rosewood Nut width: 39.5 mm Scale: 34" 22 Frets 2-Band active / passive EQ Master volume-, treble- and bass controls Treble control is Tone control in passive mode Chrome hardware Tortoise pickguard Sandberg lightweight machine heads Colour: 3-Tone Sunburst Schaller S Locks Includes Sandberg gig bag Made in Germany No trades I'm afraid. Collection or meet up within reasonable distance of WD17 please as I dont have a hard case.

  13. Very recently bought on here, using sk8 ad as it better than anything I could do! Really versatile pedal that can be an overdrive, fuzz or preamp. Valve driven with a great EQ and tonal options. Works fantastically as a DI. Adds a nice bit of valve warmth to a solid state amp. Also has Headphone amp and aux in to further add to its usefulness. Runs on 9 or 12 volts (12 volts recommended) and comes with a mains adaptor. this was the new run with the new graphics and more compact pedal just before Dave’s untimely death. looking for £140 posted in mainland UK

  18. Starting to thin the herd so up for grabs is this beautiful Shuker RD Artist style beasty I'm not the original owner so details (body wood/neck etc) are sparse I'm afraid but I can try and answer any Qs Duncan pups, an Aguilar OBP-2 pre and Hipshot USA pegs Stunning bound neck with block markings, 40mm at the nut, all in good condition, slight yellowish discolouration on the top of the body, a few little nicks around the backplate a small chip on the top of the head. Lovely player but for some reason I can't quite put my finger on I pick up others first, I think I just don;t get on with the neck profile but honestly cannot say why! Comes with a Thomman thunderbird soft case Looking for a straight sale really so GBP850.00 GBP 750 GBP 700 collected or can deliver within reasonable range/meet up

  19. For sale is my Warwick Infinity 4 String - The bass dates from 2003. Great overall condition for a 17 year old bass. There is some wear from thumb placement as shown in the photographs. The jack socket has been upgraded to a more robust one. I would prefer cash on collection so you can try this fantastic bass, Happy to post at buyers risk and cost, I have large guitar boxes. Alternatively, i am willing to meet half way for contribution to fuel costs within reason. Hit me up with trade offers Looking for £1950, £1850 now £1650 For the full spec I'll copy and paste from the Warwick Website here: From Warwick's website: "The innovative, hollow body, F-holes and pickup configuration are just a few of the characteristics that put the Infinity NT at the top of the Warwick line. 20. Final Pricedrop => 500Euro + shipping (this includes the Mustang; a brand new fitting Fender shortscale gigbag, the Labella faltwounds, a pro- setup and the original strings and packaging, total value of the set was +-800Euro). Selling due to feeling more at home on a medium scale bass. Everything was bought new 4 weeks ago. Just got this from Andertons last week wanting to try out a shortscale. Long story short: I love it! Makes me wonder why I never tried a Mustang and/or a shortscale before. Alas I'm now regretting not going for a medium scale bass (32inch scale) as the 30"scale is just a tad too small for me at the higher frets, but I can't trade it in anymore as this was already an exchange for some other gear I bought, hence this feeler. The bass comes equipped with a fresh set of La Bella 760FL-S Deep Talkin Bass strings (43£) as they come recomended as the best strings for this type of bass and the bass also had a full pro set-up with medium low action which makes it play like a dream. I´ve also bought a Fender shortscale gigbag with the bass (Never used, brand new!) which is a perfect fit for the Mustang and I will include this in the sale/trade deal I still have all the original packaging (Both Fender & Andertons box) and the allen keys and other goodies it came with. The bass was only tested a couple of hours in my livingroom and she's less than a week old, so it's absolutely mint! New these go for 599£, the Labella's were another 43£, the pro setup and fret dress costed me another 50quid, the gigbag was another 35£ and the Mustang PJ in this colour is currently sold out in most places, so grab yourself a bargain and get this brand new bass and all the extra´s for 278£ less.

  21. My first introduction to serious reggae this track. The only other reggae or reggae-ish track that I'd heard and liked (loved actually) was Althea & Donna's Uptown Top Ranking, a track I'm still crazy about, which was released in 1977, Cocaine in my Brain was released a year earlier in 76 but I didn't hear it until after Uptown TR. Funnily enough there was, obviously, a lot of Bob Marley around but somehow his utter brilliance alluded me. Then I heard Handsworth Revolution by Steel Pulse and then the first three LKJ albums and suddenly the reggae world opened up in colour... I'm rambling and repeating myself. In short Dillinger - Cocaine in my Brain, very important track for me that.

  29. Evening all, I've been looking at the ashdown rm's for a long time and today finally managed to pick one up second hand, with the idea of if it worked well, I'd look at getting the 800 and that would give a great easy lightweight set up and this could be used as backup amp. Well....let's just say this thing has blown me away so far! Lovely depth to the sound through my elbee 1210, but what I found really nice and pleasant was it had plenty of tone. A real quality to the sound. It's not just a flat power amp. Nice. Ridiculously lightweight, and easy to grab with one hand and move. Looks lovely too. The little vu meter looks nice and warm and also turns blue when muted and warm yellow when the amp is live. I've had loads of ashdowns in my gig life: mag 307, superfly, little giant 1000, abm ii, abm iv, ctm300 and so far this is right up there with them. Obviously it's only been at low levels so far, but if it holds up at volume, it's a quality amp and could replace my current set ups.

  36. So a little update on this. So far I’ve fitted some Dunlop flatwound strings, bought a thumb rest and ordered some strap locks. I also ordered a solderless passive VVT wiring loom from @KiOgon (thanks again!) and today, stripped the old scratchplate off in preparation for cutting the new one. As you can see, I decided to cut and crimp the wires, so that pickups etc can be dropped in and out with ease in the future. As the controls will be located slightly differently, this required a little redesign of the layout on the plate. I worked from a USA Fender 5 string PJ to get these in a place that should look right. For now, the plan is to fit the new scratchplate and wiring loom with the Sire pickups, but I might upgrade them to something different in the future.

  39. The cheap DIY version is: Practice arpeggios up and down the neck: Maj7, Min7, Aug7, Dim7 (in all keys) Practice them in 1st 2nd and 3rd inversions, always beginning on the lowest note available of the particular chord. Do that for 30mins a day and soon you will amaze yourself. You're welcome! 😊

  40. If you're keen on an LPJ or melody maker, you should check out Gordon Smith Guitars - their GS1 model is basically the same, but they're hand-built on the UK, much nicer instruments (IMHO), and cheaper. There's usually some on ebay too. I played one back when I was on guitar duty, and it was epic. Later commissioned a GS2 which was incredible and would give any LP a run for its money. Both sadly now long gone.... 😔

  46. Ah Rosetti. Now that was a wild organisation. We bought Les Paul standards for about £1160 ex vat one week, £1045 another...we’d jump on low cost prices, and a week later “buy 5 (at £1160) get one free” - absolutely mental. So some places had paid £1160, some had paid £1045, some had paid £967. All for the same guitar. They’d also have back orders in for Rickenbacker stuff, 2 years or so. They’d send them to us “by accident” and say “ah keep it, we’ll knock you 10% off trade” so we’d end up with a random 4003 bass some poor bugger elsewhere had paid for 6 months previous and they remained in the queue. As a point - when Gibson took over their own distribution, all of this nonsense stopped. It was replaced by another brand of nonsense - £50k a month buy in.
