I recently bought a bass from Wunjo and had the best buying experience I've ever had. The guys were helpful and 'appropriately attentive' when I first visited; did me a great deal when I called to order a similar model to one I tried (offering alternatives on loan when the order time was longer than expected too - I didn't need to take up the offer, but appreciated what is surely beyond the call of duty) and specific delivery requirements were no trouble. After disappointing shenanigans with various shops and online retailers in recent years, this was a breath of fresh air - I felt looked after by real people, who cared about their customers. I will go out of my way (I live in Manchester) to give them my custom again in the future. All in all, a confidence-restoring experience with a real music shop. Cheers Wunjo! Tobie3 points

"What do we want?" "Anarchy!" "When do we want it?" "soon really but not until the bass player has negotiated a reasonable price for a suitable venue where the safety of the site has been confirmed and a full risk assessment and method statement are completed, yeah!"3 points

I traded to this at the SW Bass Bash. It appears to be 93/94 MIJ without the Silver Series decal and has had a Bassass II added. Not come across this shade Blue before but such a nice Bass, weighs in at just under 4kg and has nice punchy pick-ups and 40mm nut width. It came with a different scratch plate and creme covers, swapping them out I noticed there was a brass plate below the pickups in the cavity. Not an expert on early Squiers so if anyone can help with some background...?2 points

Keep the Wal and buy a Harley Benton shorty as a second bass and modify as you go along. More fun and you don't need to feel bad about selling the bass. Second option sell the bass and give Alan at ACG a ring and discuss your requirements with him.2 points

I'd say it was better than using standard foam tips but not as good as proper custom moulds. That said I was also impressed with the comply t600 foam tips. My wife helped me do the diy moulds and that made life easier. The best bit is that as soon the second ear was filled with putty I couldn't hear a word she was saying for 10 mins.2 points

So, all in all, how relaxing was it? This much! http:// (The Rev nodded off.) And how much fun was it? This much! http:// (Jimrs2k2 reckons it's the most fun he's had since last year!)2 points

Just got back from rehearsals, so these are first impressions only., From the moment I plugged it in everything sounded just a bit better. It was still my tone, only with a bit more definition and punch. It might be the fact that I had the comp on, but whatever it was, I liked it a lot. The EQ is pretty subtle, but it seems to be just at the right frequencies. Itโs no Q/strip, but it more versatile than my BDDI and VTBass. The drive section wasnโt quite as positive. Kicking in the stock tome print I lost the fullness and low end. Beaming the Natural tone print resulted in a nicer OD, but nowhere near as nice as the Aftershock. In fact the AS sounded really nice after the Spectrdarive, better than it has ever been. The two work really., really well. The Spectrcomp sounds exactly like I remember from the standalone, so no complaints there, and its nice to have it integrated. The โissueโ I have with it though, is, like the Q/strip, its not going to colour my tone like Iโm used to with the BDDI etc. This isnโt a bad thing as such, nor a negative, just that I will still need to use other boxes to add the colour. Tonight ill test out thei headphone side, cant wait as that was the original reason for getting it.2 points

PRICE REDUCED - NOW ยฃ750. Now sold. Thanks for all the interest. Up for sale is my 2015 Fender American Standard Precision bass in the best colour combo - Olympic white/Rosewood/Tort. This is a lovely bass in great condition. There are no issues whatsoever and it plays beautifully. The only marks on the bass are the usual markings on the scratchplate from use. It weighs in at 3.7kg (8 1/4 lbs) so, on the lighter side. It comes with a genuine Fender deluxe hardcase. Unfortunately there is no case candy present. I'm not looking for any trades at the moment - sale only. I'm based in Bolton, Lancashire. I can post if required for ยฃ25.00 courier fees.1 point

Thought Iโd share my bit of Surf Green joy on this wet and miserable Monday ๐. Saw this on a well known auction site and fell in love at first sight but unfortunately the seller was miles away. Now I like a drive as much as the next gas head, but this would have been about 4 hours each way. Step forward the extremely helpful seller (the original and only owner) who offered to meet me halfway. Met him at the weekend and Iโm certainly not disappointed with the bass, it really is in unmarked condition. A 2006 model according to the Sandberg website, the bass came with the original gig bag, tag showing the woods and serial number, Allen keys and even a spare pre-amp (apparently this was a sweetener to the owner as the original delivery from Sandberg was delayed for some reason). Itโs a weighty beast but thatโs good for me as I do like to know Iโm wearing something when I play it. Iโd say itโs a similar weight to the poplar or ash Stingrays Iโve had previously. Plays beautifully and has a great range of powerful tones. Iโm loving the split coil in both active and passive, but Iโm also pleasantly surprised by the tone with both pickups on together. Very punchy sound with added oomph! All in all the first impressions of my first sandy are very good indeed ๐1 point

It's a little thing, but it's not having a setlist and/or having one and not sticking to it. Two problems... 1. I'm deaf and never hear what the next song is and spend the bit between songs hissing, "FFS, what bloody song are we doing next?" 2. Panic sets in that nobody will dance and all the "dancey" songs get used up in the middle of the set. Result is ending the night with a couple of slow Pink Floyd numbers and slinking off apologetically. ;-)1 point

Neil Finn is a pretty handy guitarist, has a great on stage persona, and I think is one of the greatest songwriters alive. I like the idea of him joining Fleetwood Mac and I look forward to seeing if they come up any new material together too.1 point

This bugs me, too. It's not necessarily that they haven't spent enough, it's that they don't know what's good value and what isn't - which also shows a lack of interest. For example, my HB Strat cost less than ยฃ60, but I'd put it up against any USA Strat. Nice guitar.1 point

Before flogging the Wal, it'd be worth considering its investment qualities... Wal values only seem to be heading in one direction, so even if you're not going to use it in anger, it'd be worth keeping hold of.1 point

Just looking at the pic of Jim again reminded me of one very important omission. Big thanks to MoJoKe for bringing all that lovely Markbass kit despite suffering from a major attack of PGSD (Post Gig Stress Disorder) left over from the night before. Juggling that lot would be a tough job for even the fittest and well-rested among us. I was particularly impressed by the PA that I used for the Bash announcements and also listened to playing pre-recorded music. We've shown him out of focus with the top of his head missing - cos that's how he said he was feeling at the time http://1 point

My penny's worth from what I've seen: Having low and hi mid EQ is rather useful, especially when you've got used to it with GK stuff. That distortion sound in the video is really nothing to write home about but I'd be very surprised if there weren't other more usable Toneprints. As per the comment about the SA Aftershock, digital OD can be very good - I only sold mine prior to getting a Kemper. I think the usable compression, headphone option and "sheen" on a sound (much like the BDDI provides) when engaged makes this a good deal; kind of tempted to use it as a travelling practice box and also for volume and EQ boost. I look forward to more videos!1 point

I use this for live work (though it's about to be replaced by an X Air 12): https://radioactive.org.uk/product/behringer-xenyx-1002b-mixer/ Handy if you want more than two inputs, and I also like it for having sliders but still having a very small footprint because of the neat arrangement. Probably overkill if you're just mixing two sources together though.1 point

Family safe formula is the one you need re:sugru. I still reckon custom sleeves will be better than home brew, as the key thing for a good custom fit is getting a moulding that passes the second bend of the ear. I personally wouldn't want to be stuffing stuff in my ear that deep with out the cotton gauze that stops the moulding stuff going too deep into your ear.1 point

Shame the Props only did the one album which is blimmin fantastic throughout. Cool in extremis with other 60s movie infliuenced breakbeat tunes like Spybreak, Take California and Bang On.1 point

Every time you do a string change to a different manufacturer, even the same gauge, you should check the set-up on your bass. Tension can vary quite a bit even in similar gauges.1 point

Iโve always wanted one in this colour too, I had to settle for Sunset Orange though! Which looks more like transparent red unless in direct sunlight.1 point

You know my thoughts on the JHS vintage basses. They are so under rated and I think you are struggling to accept that such cheap basses can be very very good quality and very playable. I still regret selling my Tony Butler one to you and in truth part of the reason I moved from Vintage to Squier and now MIM is purely the name on the headstock. To make it worse my first V4 before I had the Tony Butler one had a lovely slim neck for a Precision and haven't found one as nice since. Just enjoy playing it mate and forget the brand stereotype. If I had the room and a more forgiving wife I would be getting another V4 ๐๐1 point
