Ahhh yes indeed good sir! We all scurried over from the sinking ship that was BassWorld.co.uk!

 

I remember logging on to BassWorld and I think I still had dial-up internet to begin with!  

BassWorld appeared around 1998 and it was a lot quieter than BassChat, it’s great to see that many of the very early numbers of ‘worlders are still here!! And great to see the community has flourished and grown. Though it is saddening that we’ve lost some wonderful bassists on the way, their memory lives on.

I too was on Bassworld for awhile and signed up for Basschat on 17th May 2007.

 

I remember thinking why would anyone sit in front of a terminal and post about playing bass!

I'm an interloper - I joined Bassworld like possibly weeks before the move to BC and happened to be online around the time of initial go live of BC.   I know very little of the "before times".

I was working on a show in Berlin at the time and was originally a member on BassWorld when I received my call up papers for Basschat on 19th May 2007.

I ended up joining on the 11th May ... 2015, like @Lozz196 to sell a bass, as I never was a forum guy, so never wanted to register, but it looks like I've become one, at least here, for some reason.

The best I have been able to do is to look up BassWorld on the WayBack Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/20250000000000*/http://www.bassworld.co.uk/pn/index.php - it'd be possible to browse the snapshots to see who was logged on at the time. There's a good few names I recognise as  on BassChat too. The snapshots don't go back to '98 though.

May 17th 2007 for me. Ex Bassworld too, although not for long.

Was slogging away in an 8 piece pro function band at the time, seems like eons ago. 

Didn’t do any other forum or social media for years, just this one. Sold and bought a fair amount 

of basses and amps over the years, and met some top folk along the way. 😀

Apparently I joined in December 2007. Hardly seems possible. I don't think I was on Bassworld, but I used to hang out on News Groups like The Bottom Line in the late 90's/early 2000's - anyone remember them??

Ex Bassworld member as well. I joined some time in the 2000s probably a year or two before it became Basschat. IIRC I was looking for more information about Spalt Basses. I joined BassTalk around the same time. I've not been back there for years now.
