It is inspired by the Epiphone Coronet guitar and Newport bass seen to the gumbyesque body shape and pickguard, for sure. In terms of playability this is - dare I say - way better though. Here’s another pic of my bass from the Serek factory floor: It plays like a dream, weighs less than 3kg and sounds incredible. Another beast than my JMJ and P-bass. I highly recommend all short scale fans contemplating whether to purchase a slightly more expensive bass to order one (if low output thump is what you need)!5 points

NOW SOLD Hi All. I am seeing if there is any interest in my 4H Stealth Black finish. Maple neck with Rosewood finger board. Unfortunately I do not have the work for her any more and it is time for someone else to enjoy. This was my gigging bass for several years so it is not a show pony. The Stealth Black finish on the bridge saddles has worn but could easily be refinished if it bothers you. There are a few small marks here and there and very light scratches on the back from use but you need to look hard to find them. Plays well with a low action. In 2014 I had Martin Sims ( Sims Custom Workshop https://www.sims.guitars/leds ) replace the side dots with red LEDS Martin pioneered retro fits WITHOUT removing the finger board and is well respected for his work. They run off the original battery with very low power consumption. The small black toggle switch on the control plate turns them on and off. Originally I used DR coated Black Beauties for the look but have had EB flats fitted for the last few years. As both coated and flats are kind to frets, they are in good condition. I will include an unused set of DR Black Beauties in the sale. Original hard case included. I have lost most of the case candy apart from the Allen key. I will try and get some better photographs up but the buyer will have to collect and you can have as much time as needed to inspect and play before parting with cash. I am 5 minutes from junc 9 M20 She has to go so I have dropped the price. Now £1225 or near offer. Thanks for looking.4 points -
Hi All Edit, price drop to £1300, last chance before it goes to eBay or Reverb etc. I am not much of a poster but have lurked for many years and am a frequent flyer on various Wal forums and have a good eBay record. I bought this Stingray back in 2013 to scratch a (Pino) itch to see if I could get used to a fretless. Loved it and played it a fair bit but need 5 string really. Finally bought a 5 string this Christmas and despite being tempted to hang onto this I will not play it so it needs to find a new home. I bought it in Bristol from a pro player and it has some chips in the lacquer as the pics detail. Not a mint bass but in very good condition other than the chips and nothing noticeable from the front view. Amazing player and weight is around 9lb using bathroom scale technique. Very happy for you to come an try it out if you can get to NW London. I appreciate these are a little hard to find currently so I have priced according to what I see on Reverb and eBay etc. I will consider close offers. Serial number matches spec on EBMM database and i have not changed anything so I believe it is completely original.4 points -

The thing that irks me is, yes its great that we hopefully live in a society that objects to racism, sexism etc A generation that wants to change the status quo and challenge the norm for the betterment of everyone. No more accepting injustice. People flock to their keyboards in defence of decency. That's all great. But if the fascist hordes were really marching in the streets, and Enoch Powell was clearing his throat , where would these people then be? Would they be standing shoulder to shoulder manning the defences in a physical sense? I have my doubts.4 points

Sorry I missed your reply. I haven’t had any issues with routing or cutting. It’s a pain to plane but I put that down to being pippy. Obviously you have to be careful with the dust so that’s a factor. One thing I did notice is that it twisted quite quickly when I removed a section for the headstock cap. I left it too long though so lesson learned really. getting back to it after Xmas. Got the chamfer done on the yew bass. I took a bit extra off with the router around the forearm cut. I couldn’t resist spraying th bodies with some white spirit and the yew looks great. As does the ash. Also got the scarf joint cut on one neck and the headstock thicknessed but not squared quite yet. Thinking of making a sanding jig. Hi I got the black veneer ordered for the buckeye build so that’s going to start rolling soon.4 points

This wasn't a planned purchase at all, saw it pop up - dribbled, worked out what I could sell and clicked order from Andertons 2nd hand section. Looks like a 2017 build, absolutely mint condition. I had a similar 2017 Euro 6LX for about 3 weeks I found in GuitarGuitar Birmingham 2 years ago, but had to sell at short notice due to life events (didn't lose any money at least). Having bought and sold quite a lot in that time, I always wanted it back but certainly didn't need a 6 string (Yamaha RBXJM2 covers that). So this popped up on my daily browse, I sent the link to my GAS Enablement Buddy (@AndyTravis) who agreed it should be procured immediately. No setup required, strings should be OK too - had about 30 mins on it so far, and it's great (obviously). Probably going to have to sell 2-3 to pay for it, but quality > quantity. Especially as this seems quite versatile.3 points

For sale is my Wal MK1 Fretless built by Electric Wood in 1983. W2082 I have owned this for the last 32 years of its 38 year life so far, and I bought it in a local guitar shop in Wiltshire. I exchanged a fretted MK1 I had at the time and paid an extra 100 quid on top to own my first fretless. It is truly a superb instrument and rightly highly sort after like all the old Wal's are. The reason i'm selling it is simply that I haven't played it much since I've owned it and it's just wrong that something that amazing isn't doing what it should be doing. Some one else should have the opportunity to own it. I have another slightly older fretless Wal which is my go to fretless. The reason why that bass usurped this one is over the years I grown to find basses with natural wood finishes unappealing. Didn't bother me when I was a spotty teenager but now I crave colour I guess. All subjective isn't it?) So with the choice made to sell it I wanted to ensure who ever owns it next would get it in absolute A1 condition. So I took it back to see Paul at Electric Wood and told him to get it as perfect as it could possibly be. He did an amazing job and I picked it up from him just before Christmas Day. Nice for it to go home after 38 years. After I collected it I even resisted the urge to play the hell out of it and immediately put it back in the case so I know its perfect. Such will power) I saw an almost identical fretted version of this go for 6K 9 months ago. So I will sell it for the same amount and carry the cost of its time warp work back to 1983 myself. My photography skills are pretty crap. If you want anymore specific pics then please ask. Payment via bank transfer. I don't mind travelling somewhere exotic here in the U.K to hand it over if needs be. Or we can deploy the services of a capable courier to send it further afield . Bought this as a stop gap For a more expensive one. These are a great, small and inexpensive entry into the world of Bit crush/Sample Rate reducing. Can turn your bass into a Clavinet or a broken 50s radio 😂 Note for some reason these pedals are mislabled, the large cream knob controls the Sample Rate and the little one controls Bit Rate. Very well built and typical of Mooer Quality, has true bypass and and simple to use, has a Dry mix and preset EQ via a toggle. Also has high quality Velcro fitted. This is as new, and comes with the original box. SOLD3 points -

The headstock is basically having one clear coat a day. So the time to do further stuff is in the morning, when it is dry from the previous evening's coat. And this morning was Luminlay Day Method was the same as with the fretted neck a few pages back but, this time, the dots are on the fret, not between. I've also added a dot for fret 1 - I personally find that a help on a fretless because I don't have to guess the progressive shortening of the space between those first three semitones. Jack opted for the large Luminlays again for the main part of the neck. For the 12th, I've put a couple of small ones either side and also small ones for the narrow strip for the upper positions where the neck pocket joins. It will have another coat of clear on the headstock this evening. Otherwise engaged tomorrow but Friday should see the final sand and start of the finishing process for the neck and headstock back - oh and the small but vital step of adding a coat of tinted varnish to the headstock front And then, I'm afraid I won't be able to put off sorting the machine screw inserts on both necks ANY longer!3 points

Currently running a Wampler Mini-Ego compressor - T-Rex Quint Machine octaver - EHX Bass Clone chorus - MXR Carbon Copy Mini delay - Tech 21 VT Bass DI. All powered by a T-Rex Fuel Tank Junior. Only the delay isn't an always on effect. I think I may switch away from clip-on tuners and get a pedal tuner but it'll have to be a wee one if I do - recommend me one.3 points

When you say "most venues", are you looking for one rig for pubs and clubs, one rig for concert halls, one rig to rule them all and in the darkness bind them? One rig probably won't be suitable for everything unless (like me) you mainly play one type of venue. You'd probably do better to go a bit modular. One really nice head, a small cab (1x10) for smaller venues, a bigger cab (2x10) for larger ones, and the ability to combine them for really big ones, by which time you're running a DI to FoH anyway.3 points

We got through NYE, in the end we did 2x45 and a final third set of 30 min interrupted by the midnight chimes and I had to then busk my way through auld lang syne having never played it. We were originally going to finish final set before 12 and the DJ would play it in his set. Then the organiser changed his mind while we doing set 2. We chucked in as much non rock stuff as we'd briefly had chance to work up in the few rehearsals we had (non covid illness had ripped through the band, I was full of cold myself by NYE and struggled). The agent was there and moaned a bit at the end that we were unrehearsed and 'a bit heavy' but considering the band was put together to do biker rallies I didn't think we did a bad job, had them dancing at the end and got paid. I doubt we will be playing the venue again any time soon but it won't bother me too much, it's all a bit chicken in a basket for me despite the money being a bit better and a bigger stage to spread out on. We still had to provide our own PA so set up and break down was as much as usual, only thing we didn't need was lights.2 points

Rick had a professional photographer career post Mahavishnu, but took a lot of photos then. He sent this signed pic back, one he'd taken mid gig. Has pride of place in the bass room..2 points

I posted my other pedal-board some months ago (for doubling gigs: double bass and elec bass), but here is my mini & light-weight board for straightforward electric bass gigs ( e.g. bigband, jazz sets, singer-songwriter style gigs etc). On the occasion I need a bit of warmth, I use the tone feature on the Empress and/or the pre-amp valve on my Mesa WD800 head, or I add-on a pre-amp. For power, underneath this one I use a Cioks ADAM. The board is a Rockboard Duo 2. If I need a couple of extra effects, typically I'd 'add-on' something like my OC5 Octave and Raffery Fuzz, which I keep velcro'd to a stand-alone riser plate (but power using the remaining power outlet from the Adam).2 points
