  1. Only 3 months after the gig, but this photo was published as a double-page spread in a local paper/magazine headlining an article about the Beeston Oxjam Festival we played, and I thought it was worth sharing.

  2. I bought this bass from someone on here. Sorry I can't remember who.. I tried to find the original post but maybe it was too long ago and not on the site anymore. I did take a screenshot of the original post so hopefully that will help get over some info about the bass. I never gigged with it and according to the guy I bought it from he hadn't either. Needless to say it's in excellent condition. Candy Apply Red "Super J" 5 String Red LED fret markers (Side and front of the fingerboard), ebony (I assume), fingerboard and gold hardware. Has gold Schaller strap locks fitted. Basslines pickups with not-sure-who's preamp (switchable between active and passive). Weight on the scales is 10lbs, comes with Hiscox fitted hardcase with few small scuffs but in good condition. There are two small holes drilled into the pick-guard probably where someone has fitted a pickup cover and on the back around the battery cover there is some discolouring of the paint. Would like a straight sale and not looking for trades at the moment. I won't post the bass but I am in north west London and can also drive to meet or deliver if not too far. Any questions please ask!

  3. I've used it in the studio and for a video but never live. We're planning an EP this Spring which will be exclusively Bass VI and synth. This is my customised Squier Bass VI. Matching shoes and cat with disapproving look optional.

  4. This lovely J bass is pending! Price drop to £799 and heeeere's a Youtube demo! Content warning - Jaco abuse/ slap nonsense and naff drums inside. Bass sounds good though! Here's a very nice CIJ Jazz Bass (model JB62-USsbl) with the US pickups, large pattern tuners, grooved saddles and alder body. A few cosmetic dinks and light scratches on the body but looks pretty good. The neck is great with a very solid, responsive feel, lovely action and is pretty much flawless ding-wise. Frets in great shape. This is a very good jazz that I'm only selling on a needs must basis (as per usual). Weight is just around 9 pounds/4kgs and balance is great. When I get the time I'll stick up some clips on YouTube. It's a really good J... No case so will have to be a pickup/handover in the SE/M25 area PICS!

  9. I am making progress in my own steady way. Today wasn't the ideal day to be outside cutting 22cm lengths of pipe for the ports. As the cutout for the speaker was a bit big and so the fixing holes were precariously close to the edge, I glued in some short lengths of reinforcement and then drilled for T-nuts. Remembering what had happened with the BC 112, I checked that all the T-nuts threaded up, then put them in place and tightened with the speaker in place so that if any finished up slightly skewiff they'd still go in. Still to do - put in wadding (on its way), glue in ports, put top on, round corners off, filling and sanding, and covering - I have a good-sized piece of leatherette left over from the BC micro cab which I'll use for that. Plus cut grille to size, put connector panel in, wire up speaker and put that in. Reinforcements and T-nuts placed ready for initial tightening: Box with bottom attached: Inside view:

  10. In the late 70s when the "Indie Charts" started it used to mean any record that wasn't distributed by a major record label. So bands on Rough Trade, Factory Records, 4AD (who were part of Beggars Banquet, but unlike the parent label had independent distribution), and of course that bastion of the "Indie Sound" PWL. So right from the beginning it's been meaningless. A bit like "Alt Rock" which has pretty much been mainstream rock since the mid-90s.

  12. No, no, no.....! FFS... Noone wants an overpriced Epi Rex bird! If you're a Rex fan you know his sound is Spector. That's where your money goes. Why doesn't Gibson just reintroduce the Grabber, Ripper and G3, with cheaper high quality Epiphone versions (under £1k). THAT'S what the market is asking for!

  17. When we first opened the 'Wanted' forum, we had lots of people say they had been contacted by someone who - surprise surprise - had the exact item they were looking for, and did they want it? I ended up making the forum only visible if you had at least one post on the forum which pretty much stopped it dead, but it has always been a bit awkward for genuine members. I'm wondering now whether it needs placing behind the subscription wall so that there's more assurance that offers are genuine. In the meantime perhaps a new warning banner is in order to encourage people to be especially vigilant when it comes to that type of PM, and to ask for pictures of the item with the username written on today's paper or something!

  18. I wish I had read this post few weeks ago. As Tandro said, I don't mind speaking up and look like an idiot, but if this could help to save some pain to someone else, than it'll be worth it. I did post in the wanted category of the bass market, as I am looking for a Hipshot D-tuner BT-10. This was about a month ago. Nothing happened for weeks until I got a message from a user, nickname zooh (which I understand has been banned). He stated he had a friend, someone called kasem (which I thought was a member as well) who had what I was looking for and wanted to sell, and he gave me the email address of this kasem (first red flag I should have noticed!) I contacted this guy and he said, yes I do have it, in very good condition, with bolt and washer etc, he also mentioned the model of bass he used the D-tuner on. So everything looked legit, he seemed to know what he was talking about. He sent me some pictures, I did a reverse search to make sure were not taken from the internet, and they weren't (apparently). He also asked me if I would collect! I said no, after knowing he's from Grimsby, too far from me and asked if he could ship. He said yes, I asked for some details, an address, and if he could text me from his phone, which he did. So I had a phone number too! I offer payment via Paypal or Revolut or bank transfer and then he gave me "his wife" paypal which also was on a foreign currency, US dollars in this case (second red flag, which I only learnt afterwards. I just though, ok his wife must be American). But then I also thought "it's only 45 quid, who's gonna make a scam for such a small amount? Also the guy seems to know what he's talking about", and I kind of trusted being recommended by a member of the forum. Ok this "zooh" guy account is a newbie, but hey, I am a newbie myself in this forum. Anyway, I sent the money, and the day after I emailed again saying I made the payment and to let me know when he would ship (because he had told me that he would have shipped the day after when not working). He also reply to the email saying "yes I am on my way to the post office, I'll send you details as soon as I'm done". After that, radio-silence. After another couple of days I tried to ring the number that he texted me from and....the number doesn't exist. Ok, I should have rang the number and check before making the payment. If you have read until here you are probably thinking I am an idiot, and you are right. But again, if this could save some pain to someone else, then fine. The red flags have already been listed in this thread, but let's reiterate some of them in particular -deal via email outside the forum - red flag -asked to pay as FF to a different paypal email account, (a wife, a relative, etc) on a foreign currency - SUPER red flag All I am trying to say, be extra careful. That zooh account is now banned, but they can sign in with a new one and try it again. If I had known the above two red flags before that wouldn't have happened, but again, it looked very legit. And I can add, I have always been careful and updated on scam procedures, but here I am, I have got caught for the first time. Bear in mind, do not trust even if: - knowledge of the item and what's related -asking if could collect (ok must have taken my location from my IP address, so he knew I would have said no) -texting from a proper phone number - make sure you ring the number to make sure you're dealing with an actual person. That's it for now, any question, feel free to ask here or DM me. Cheers

  23. Just realised I never posted my two new Ooshyks on this thread! Meet Scarlett and Skye - a pair of Frog 6S 6-strings, fretted and fretless: The spec is basically the same for both: 6-string Ash body, quilted ash tops with colour in the grain Roasted maple necks with ebony fingerboards and graphite rods, bolt-on 17.5mm string spacing Luminlay blocks on Skye (the fretted one), edge lines (on Scarlett, the fretless), Luminlay side dots on both Hipshot Ultralite tuners, monorail bridges, Schaller straplocks, coloured knobs for volume and pan (I have the coloured knobs for the other pots, but Noll use a non-standard size for their concentric pots and they don't fit!) Delano Xtender pickups with series/parallel/single coil switches Noll custom 18V 4-band EQ (frequencies adjusted to match the 4-band EQ on a Musicman Bongo) Absolutely loving them so far. One thing I've noticed - if anyone else has the Noll electronics, do you notice the output at the jack being a bit quieter than you might expect? The pickups and circuit are extremely hot, but the output is pretty low, considering...

  24. Well I thought this was a lifer but I have a wedding and honeymoon to pay off so needs must! A few more goodies to come but I can;t bring myself to list more than one a day This was commissioned by @walshy in 17/18 and has been in my stable for about a year and a half. I've not gigged in years so it has lead a sheltered life with me and is keen to get out an of confinement and show off😀 It sounds absolutely glorious and is a joy to play Not overly keen on shipping however I'm happy to do some driving and meet up or come all the way to you depending on location, I may even be persuaded to use Walshys man and van service who brought it to me in the first place at my cost! 27. I am returning a faulty amp (Rumble 800 combo) to Thomann. Courier arranged for today. Turned up in a plain white van. Didn’t have the return label that Thomann said he would, couldn’t provide any type of receipt. “Sorry mate, I’m just standing in for the main driver”. Sent him on his way without the amp. Now expecting collection tomorrow. Glad I read this thread before he arrived. Thanks for all your contributions.

  34. I'm completely with Bill on this one. Modern PA's have improved so much that this is what the audience should be hearing. Needing a 2x15 or a 4x10 to reach the back of the room is just not necessary and it has so many disadvantages apart form the fag of harrying to transport, store and carry a huge box or boxes. I have multiple cabs because it is my passion but the biggest cab I've taken to a gig in the last two years is a 1x12. Often I go ampless or the amp and bass speaker stay in the car. I think any serious gigging bassist needs their own bass amplification still as you never know what you'll find when you get there but a 300W amp and a good quality 12 (or 2x10) should be able to match the drumkit and why would you want to drown out the rest of the band? The guitarist can just turn down

  35. WinISD is the program most of us use. It's free. You have to input the parameters from the manufacturers data sheets and once these are saved you can ask it to design a cab and it will print out the bass response of it's design. You can then change the size and tuning of the cab and it will show you what the changes do on screen as you do them. It's quite useful to set up two projects with the same speaker at a time and it will show you two responses, you can then tweak one and see exactly how that compares with the suggested design. The cab only really affects the bass response directly so that is all it calculates. It also shows you things like power handling, maximum output and so on. The sky (or your growing knowledge of cab design) is the limit but it will design a simple box for you too. If you get stuck there are lots of BassChatters here to help. http://www.linearteam.org/

  39. Coincidently I was watching some live clips of a few songs from Rio last night. In couple of recent ones, JT was playing his Dingwall. Unsurprisingly, it made a very Dingwally sound, which is to say, not really like his sound on that album.

  41. Sold. Zoom B6 in as new condition, boxed. Very well made, fully featured, superb sound quality, excellent touch screen and the whole unit is quite light and more compact than most of the competition. Can't justify keeping as not got any band plans presently. Collection welcome or UK insured postage for £15.
