Hi again folks, this time I'm selling my Fender Lyte P/J bass. This has had a quality maple board made and fitted by Jon Shuker, in case you aren't aware these only came with rosewood fingerboards so this is quite unique. It was done as my eyesight isn't very good and I can see maple better. It's black with a greyish pho flame finish which is in excellent condition. Also the P pickup has been changed to a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 which is much better than the weak stock item, also John (KiOgon) made a passive loom for it and it sounds so much better. I think I still have the stock items if you really want them. Comes with a very good gigbag. Weight I think is 7.2 lbs So here is an opportunity to own a very rare bass. Final got the neck in to finish this bass, it’s a standard burst squier vm jazz, but I fitted a Avedissian T bird pickup in the bridge, even added some black pickguard screws! And the standard for me upgrade to a high mass bridge. obviously the main change is the aluminium neck from Baguley, custom spec’d to have reverse headstock and block inlays!!10 points

Loving the colour and the feel. Really impressed with this. I tried one in a shop ages ago and wasn't impressed but the feel of the neck, tuners and the overall quality of finish has really impressed me so far. Once the kids are asleep will get it through the amp!7 points

So the veneer is going in nicely… luckily it’s a snug fit in the slot so titebond and veneer should minimise visibility… I am quite hopeful that the lines will be minimal, will update once I have cut and sanded these 4. I will, no doubt, lose patience and do the rest! I know what I’m like…5 points

For sale is my Bergantino CN212. Brought it in 2014 from Bass Direct, it's not been heavily gigged as I've been using IEMs for the past 6 or 7 years. It's an epic cab, only getting rid of it because I don't use it anymore and when I do need an amp, I've got a small Reidmar and single 112. In great condition, a minor ding on the top corner but otherwise pristine. Because of the size and weight, collection only from Solihull in the West Midlands.4 points -

Turns out I've been here since 2011, also mainly a lurker, but bought many an item, and sold a few too, many dodgy deals in car parks after dark lol! Never met a bad BC'er, love the sense of fun here. Just now having a PM chat with another bassman who I actually worked with a few years back, and neither of us can remember why, hopefully meeting up for coffee and a natter sometime soon. Also met a guy who I apparently went to school with, abeit a few years apart, this forum is absolutely amazing and long may it continue!!4 points

Before discovering BassChat I went on TalkBass. As people on here might be aware, I like to rant… I had bought a 15” bass speaker, but was having problems with distortion when playing anything below the G on the E string. I went on TalkBass and had a moan. A couple of people told me (not suggested) that I had put it in the wrong size cab. I said that I didn’t think I had. I didn’t go back for a couple of days, but when I did there was about four pages of people angrily telling me that I had put it in the wrong sized cab! So, I told them the measurements of the cab, which were pretty much bang on what they should have been for that speaker. And no one said a word. It turned out that a preamp in my signal chain was clipping… I had a similar experience on an angling forum. I had caught a lovely, good sized Crucian Carp and posted a photo of it. Cue several pages of people insisting that it was a Carp/Brown Goldfish hybrid… I knew that the venue didn’t have Goldfish and that they had a good stock of proper Crucians. The thing was, the only way to tell was by the fin shape, which wasn’t visible in the photo! They even admitted that couldn’t know because there was no way to tell by what they could see, but still, it was definitely a hybrid! I didn’t hang around after that.4 points

Well, I couldn't sleep...so I got up and did stuff to it...the bass! Finished the wiring, it's very simple. I'm still waiting on the PU's. Fitted the nut, put on a set of cheap strings. Installed the string retainer. Rough tuned it up. Of course it needs a set up and nut adjustments. But it plays. I'm letting it sit overnight for things to settle in. A bass is born…4 points

Greco PB-700 Super Real Precision Great precision copy from Greco. It's a top of the line PB-700 Super real series, made in march 1981 according to the serial number. This model seems to be loosely based on a late '50s precision with its 2-tone sunburst and metal (white though) pickguard. Further it has threaded saddles and reverse tuners. Also note the nicely rounded body curves. The neck has a 43mm nut width. As you can see, the bass has small damages and user marks all around. There is a more significant damage to the lacquer a the edge of the body at the top. Technically all is good; all hardware and electronics work like they should. The neck is straight and adjustable. The bass plays great with a low action, and has a powerful, clear yet full and growly rocksound with roundwound strings. But she sounds the deal with a set of flats too. It's truly one of the best sounding precisions I've played. In the pictures the bass is strung with flats, but will be sold with a set of rounds fitted. I'm selling this bass to fund another purchase. Besides that I can't play this bass comfortably for a longer time due to the nut width combined with an old wrist injury. €775 I am located in the Netherlands. Pickup is preferred, but I'm also willing to ship at buyers risk and expense. As for trades I am mainly interested in a Music Man Stingray 4/5 with lacquered neck (like early '90s). Further a 70s/80s sabre with rosewood fretboard or Fender Flea active.. I've got 4 basses and other stuff up for sale, so could offer a combination of items for trade.3 points -

I like TB its expansive and they talk about a lot of stuff but you have to be careful...Yanks have a weird way of responding to humour ...I've come unstuck a few times...especially waxing lyrical about my Squire P bass...haha.3 points

If you fancied something Gibson flavoured I would heartily recommend the Les Paul Junior Double Cutaway, more manageably written LPJnrDC. Pickup position plus coil tap means there is no mud.3 points

I've just spoken to Will on the phone and he tells me it will be here tomorrow. He also said that I should be prepared to be blown away by the condition of it. It's a 1987 MIJ PB-62, in the original box, and it still has the plastic film on the pickguard. He says it looks like a brand new bass! I might put a tort guard on it just to save the original with the film still on it! Black/tort/rosewood P bass Mmmm.3 points

New Old Stock as it were, still has all film covers on tuners, scratch plate and neck plate includes all case candy as shown. She is unplayed so in near perfect condition, I cannot find a mark. 75th Anniversary model. Sage green. Active EQ powered by 2 9 volt batteries. Jazz & P Pickups. Fender hard case is included, this does have a few grazes and marks and the 2 straps that hold the lid up when open have come away, all latches, hinges and handle are fine. It's such a lottery these days. I hold my breath no matter who the delivery service is. Ordered a dual bass case from Gear4music on the 1st may, despatched on the 1st may via DHL, received on 2nd may, so it wasnt late, had delivery update from DHL via text, giving approx 2 hour window and it arrived in that window, the packaging was faultless and undamaged, and the driver rang my bell. I had to have a lay down with my crack pipe and a cuppa3 points

I agree with @pantherairsoft, it's a killer pedal. It creates some gnarly synth tones on its own, but unfortunately doesn't have a clean blend, so I put it into the loop of my T-70 to add a bit low frequency oooomph if needed.3 points

There are some amazingly supportive people on BassChat, whether it’s to do with bass, music in general or just life with all it’s ups and downs. There is just one other forum I follow. I check it every morning just before coming here, but I only really look at two or three threads, and I very, very rarely interact with them. Then I come here and spend most of the day checking for new posts. Joining in when I can and trying to help if I can, to try to give back some of what I get out of the forum. I feel happy and included here, and I have never actually met a BassChatter in person. As such I don’t think I can say I have friends from here, I am too shy and reserved when in private conversations (I think) to make such a close connection; but there are some members that hold a special place for me for the caring and support I have got from them. So, for me, this place is a community first (day to day or even week to week, other than my wife, this is the only place where I interact with anyone) and an amazing information resource second.3 points

I absolutely see it as the former. It’s the first thing I look at in the morning, and the last thing at night. It’s a blessing (banter, information) and a curse (for sale section), but it’s a safe place, full of like minded folks, of all backgrounds and ages. Some people here I’ve known for decades, some I meet on a daily basis, and most feel like friends. I was relatively young ish when BC started, now I’m not, and I’m definitely financially worse off. Of course there’s often a difference of opinion, sometimes even a bit of needle, but mostly we’re all on a similar road, just don’t mention politics 😒 Generally though, to have this resource as a reference for information and advice about all things Bass is a wonderful thing, and I just think everyone involved in the running of Basschat should have a pat on the back. Because it takes a lot of work to keep this place going. 🤘🏻2 points

Made a few years ago and was bought from this parish for a build i have just finished Northwest Guitars Precision Bass Body, Alder, originally Brown Sunburst, which was stripped and painted Fiesta Red with Nitrocellulose paint (looks slightly lighter than pics like Tomato soup -beautiful - I'm just not a red person basswise). lightly relicd. Squier VM bridge 2010 CTS Pots 250k Audio Taper Solid Shaft. Sprague Orange Drop 0.047 Capacitor. I used to play in Scottish dance bands (the tartan jacket and bow tie variety), in 'handshake' bands - get there on time, shake hands, sight read the music, get the dosh, shake hands, go home and don't see the others till next time. Everybody but the bandleader was replaceable and on the same fixed fee, 'cos he (mostly) had the van, the PA and the address book. All this was fair enough, after all the rest of us just had to turn up and sight read. On the other hand, I've played in original bands where there's no money and everyone's putting a lot of themself in - different situation, like any 'work'. I'd suggest you have to decide why you're doing it, and that usually comes down to some combination of fun and money, in varying degrees. Next thing is, what am I getting out of this and how does it compare with why I joined? Overall though, if you're not happy with it over a period, this is often a sign of 'musical differences' - which means, who gives a toss why this is happening and whose fault it is, I'm not happy and I'm walking!2 points

I've just finished editing my video review of the new Bergantino Super Pre. It will do everything you ask and more without the additional bells and whistles of a fully featured processor (that you might not need). It is DSP, but it's a top tier processor on board so it sounds superb even "flat" with zero tone suck. Compression (series and parallel) 4 band parametric equaliser (not just mids) high pass and low pass filters, OD, Distortion or Fuzz (bendable and adjustable crossover), feedback filter, tuner, dual DI's headphone for IEMS or practicing, effects loop, Bergantino proprietary 'Speaker Profiles' and all completely programmable.2 points

Once I hadn't been able to finish checking the final mix of a drama I'd been Post Production Manager on. It was needed the following day so I took it home and played the 1/4" on my Revox through my stereo. I discovered that throughout the post production process nobody had noticed that one particular location had a loud but very low frequency rumble - I guess it was a tube train as the location was in central London. The reason that no-one had noticed was because all editing was done on Rogers LS3/5a speakers, which are excellent but have virtually nowt below 75Hz, and track laying and dubbing had been done using Rogers LS5/8 speakers, which looked imposing but produced no bass below 45Hz! The Beeb soon commissioned new speakers for dubbing theatres after that (they bought big Harbeths)...2 points

Genuinely old instruments aren't necessarily "better" certainly, a lot of it is hype to massively inflate the prices these things seem to go for. Back in the day I've had a few Fenders that were really duff and sounded crap, a couple of P basses and a Jazz spring to mind, these were "pukka vintage" by today's standards and would doubtless cost a packet. Now the low spec Squier PJ I got recently plays and sounds way better than any of that lot did, and if I had to choose between them purely as a playing instrument, I'd stick with the Squier.2 points

You may be lucky and get a good match with your veneer but I'm betting that even if others can't see the lines, you won't be able to unsee them. There will be a difference in the direction of the wood grain for starters. That isn't necessarily a bad thing.2 points
