For those of you with Amazon Prime - found this bass-fest (whilst searching for the Stanley Clarke bio-film which I don't think is on there.) So if you're into Andrew Gouche, Damien Erskine, MonoNeon, Janek Gwizdala and Hadrien Feraud it's worth a watch. It's pretty much unrelenting shredding over standards and gospel grooves. So cue peeling 32nd notes from super high-end basses - MTD & Fodera particularly. Stand outs for me were Hadrien who is freakishly nimble and articulate and MonoNeon for having a bit of personality.4 points

Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about this bass! I have to say I predict greatness too - if not from you then at least from the bass itself3 points

1967 Gibson EB-2 Bass in very good optical and technical condition (see pictures). The bass has the following, fully reversible mods/upgrades: * The original bridge has been replaced with a "Hipshot Supertone" bridge (better intonation, better definition and string height). The original bridge with the mute is included (see last photo). * The original push/pull tone switch has been replaced by a three-way toggle switch that allows, additionnally to the access to the two original tone circuits, a direct access to the motherbucker PU (details about this mod can be found by googling Gibson EB-2 Triple Bybass Modification) A push/pull switch (probably not original) is included. * The damaged original nut has been replaced by a new bone nut by a professionnel luthier. The bass comes in its original, battered Gibson case pics: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mb4qiv5eyw4c7yg/AACa1H8Df1mbU_aojr3LzkBAa?dl=0 2700€, shipping incl. about me: Basschat: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/64788-feedback-for-gillento/ Talkbass: http://www.talkbass.com/feedback/gillento.63576/ ebay: http://feedback.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=gillento&ftab=AllFeedback" onlybass: http://forum.onlybass.com/index.php?/user/1617-gillento/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gillento2 points

Can't say enough about my Spector NS5 XL. Bought in 2000. Issue no.18. In that time I've had one pot changed. Had a Warwick Steamer before that. Heard they stole the design from Warwick and sought one out. Can't play anything else now.2 points

I'd expect them to sell the instrument. They set their rate and I agree to it or not and set the price accordingly. The rate itself is irrelevant. The commission, in many cases, includes VAT.2 points

Lovely story, enjoyed reading that so thank you for sharing. I think I have one of your old basses, a teal green 2eq Music Man Stingray with maple neck. Mega light for a Stingray and I named her Sinead 😊2 points

True. But sometimes one just have to take a leap of faith and risk it. If I don't like it, back it'll go, I'll lose postage costs but that's the only way to try one around here it seems. It's all because of this damn snow... it's given me far too much time to think about toys! In fact, if it weren't for the snow... instead of clicking "buy now" I'd have been driving to a gig! But it has been cancelled due to the weather. I'll call the bass "Snow". I should receive it on Tuesday... but I would not be surprised if there are still some delays as there must be a huge backlog with just about every courier.2 points

I had the strangest experience in GAK once. Went in for a wander, decided to buy some guitar strings on the way out, to be polite... Me: Hello, can I have a set of D'Addario nickel 11's please? GAK man: Have you tried these? (Ernie Balls) Me: Ah, yes, tried them many times but I prefer D'Addarios, so just those, cheers... (points to strings in question) GM: Have you considered these (gets a packet of Rotosounds and goes into a long and confused explanation about wrap material) Me: (eventually realising he's trying to push stainless) Er, no, I use nickels. Can I get the D'Addarios? GM: What guitar do you play? Me: (a bit exasperated now) Eh? They're for a Gibson ES330. GM: Ah, you don't want them. You want 10's. Always, always use 10's on a Gibson. Me: Seriously, mate... this guitar's had nickel 11's for 20 years. GM: (firmly) You should try the 10's. Me: Uhh... forget it. It was so, so bizarre. And a bit aggressive, and unfunny. I can only assume the assistants were having a bet or something amongst themselves. I hope he lost2 points

Thats a bit odd. If i was the seller of the bass you won, it would be ME who insisted on insured delivery, because if it turned up as a box of matchwood, its the seller who loses out financially with Ebay. The seller also has the unenviable task of trying to get their compensation from the courier As a buyer, all you have to do is hit the resolution button1 point

VAT, if applicable, would be calculated on the commission, not on the full sales price.1 point

Bass looks ok to me in the photo. If its a genuine American 74P bass i would have thought £1200 wasn't too bad. I'm no expert in them to be fair so i'll be curious to see what comes back on this thread. Like a nice maple neck You can pick up a decent case for not a lot anyways. Dave1 point

I spent years living in Finland, I can deal with snow, but over here there aren't many snowplows out, and most people don't have winter tyres (we rarely get these conditions) and so it's not your own driving that can be a problem, but other people who can't deal with snow. And then the audience is not likely to be huge either. I had two gigs booked for this weekend, but both have been cancelled.1 point

Here's a link to the details. http://www.mtdkingston.com/basses/mod_your_kingston.html Katie at Dana B Goods was extremely helpful. "If you are a musician and want more info, call Katie at 805-856-1701 or send her an email at [email protected]. "1 point

I can certainly vouch for the Tanglewaters. I had an Elite 4-string for a few years which was a great bass. Only fault was it was a little bit heavy for me, couldn't fault the contruction.1 point

I dunno... My headless Hohner came in a rectangular vinyl covered hard case, wasn't even fake leather, with rounded corners and a zip!1 point

I stopped playing completely around 2001 after 30 years of continuous gigging. And when I say completely, I mean I literally didn't pick up a bass for the next 16 years. Then 6 months ago on a sudden whim I got my one remaining bass out of the cupboard and started fumbling around on it. To my almost disbelief, it all came back very quickly, and now I'm a reasonably competent bass player again, and loving it all over again. So maybe the trick is to stop completely, and then just let nature take it's course - you might never play again, or you might have a joyous renaissance - time will tell.1 point

I think only once has the slapped bass pass over happened to me in a shop. Once he was finished jerking the bass off: Me - Are you in a band then? Him - No, not a present. Me - Wonder why?1 point

Oh so you've actually pulled the trigger? I shall be waiting with baited breath on this one. I predict greatness tbh.1 point

That is a possibility. If you look at Schecter feedback, most people say that build and quality control are well above the price point, in fact they are famous for it. That review does go against the grain, though the other one is a bit lukewarm too. Puts the value much lower than it costs. Bearing in mind it's £100 more expensive still over here compared to the states does make me think that I'd be better off seeing one before buying blind.1 point

I have a Korean MTD. SUPER comfy to play!1 point

"Do you have a set of standard gauge Rotosounds?" "Depends what you mean by standard gauge" "The ones that say standard gauge on the pack." "Yeah, but what gauge are they?"1 point

Still puts a Super Midget at around £100 cheaper than an Aguilar SL112 in the UK. Si1 point

This is an interesting thread for me at the moment. Having just quit my band of 6 years, I've lost all desire to play. Still listening to a bit of music everyday, but only picking up a bass for about 30 minutes a week, and that's if I'm lucky, or simply bothered. I simply don't have any desire to play, let alone join bands. I just feel like I've got as good as I ever will, and done with the instrument what I'm capable of. I've decided to give it 3 months. I'f by then I'm in the same mindset, then I guess I'll accept it, and realise that it's time to move on....then they'll be a bumper sale of stuff on here! ...or like the OP, pick up a uke!1 point

It is a beautiful bass but it's the age old question... is it worth 4/5 times a newish '63 AVRI or a Limelight? Of course it's all subjective and depends on so many different factors such as whether you're looking at it as an investment too. However, I'm not too bothered about future values... I just hope when I pop my clogs that my missus doesn't sell my basses for what I told her I paid for them!1 point

Just to clarify, the 2i2 (as all Scarletts do) comes bundled with Pro Tools First as well as Ableton Live Lite, as well as a number of other very helpful free plugins (I can elaborate if needed) Cheers Si // Focusrite1 point

It's the US 55-Dual J: https://www.lakland.com/55-JJ.htm But in a Metallic Blue as opposed to just the sunburst they mention on the site. They do have a habit of doing little runs of other colours sometimes. Cheers Si1 point

Ok I'm going to say it: if Alex took the opportunity to improve the design of his cabs so they look great (with the metal grilles) as well sound great then I'd not begrudge him the £extra (I'd still buy the new better designed cabs second hand of course ).1 point
