Nah, it's just a pathetic cliched insult thrown around by (usually) right wing pseudo-macho keyboard warrior types in a fit of pique at their inability to deal with the rapidly changing modern world, which they perceive as threatening their way of life, their fragile little egos, and ultimately their complete lack of self worth. It probably gives them a little frisson of excitement when the say it, they may even become mildly aroused and as they verbally lay into someone they perceive as being less tough than them, in the same way they probably enjoyed pulling the wings off flies when they were an unhappy child. That's the problem I have with it.6 points

When people say tried and tested Stingray do they mean the slab three-bolt, the contiured four-bolt, the contoured six-bolt 2eq, the contoured six-bolt 3eq or the slab six-bolt 2eq? The Stingray has been continually improved since it was released, not one of them has been a let down. These are smart refinements by a company who don’t usually get it wrong, why such groundless negativity when none of us have even played one yet? Silly.4 points

Lots of people have lots of things going on in their lives, it doesn't matter if people want to text all night as long as they're not holding their phone aloft all night does it?3 points

It's been suggested that we get the site's profanity filter amended to turn the hackneyed and frankly boring 'snowflake' into something more innocuous and daft. I think it's a great idea, because quite frankly I am sick of the sight of that bloody word.3 points

I have a Line 6 Sonic Port, and have managed to get the latency down so it’s not an issue (and I’m sensitive to it like you). Most audio apps have latency settings in the menus but they usually adjust have fairly generic descriptions like high, medium and low. I discovered a trick however where you can drop it as low as 64 samples (1.5ms at 44.1kHz) if you run Audiobus with your chosen app inside it! You adjust the latency within Audiobus then everything gets locked to that setting. The Zoom is much less faffing about though, but the iOS route is worth considering if you hadn’t thought of it before, especially since you’ll be able to record with it.2 points

Oddly enough all the people I know who use the term (and by extension go on long protracted rants about soft lefties and how we need to take our country back etc.) are usually overweight middle aged blokes who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag and would be blowing out of their @rse running up a flight of stairs. Maybe the hyper-macho posturing is compensating for something?2 points

People who use the term "snowflake" probably also say "Twenty four seven" (5 syllables) instead of "All the time" (3) and refer to inanimate objects as "bad boys".2 points

I just think it's great that a British manufacturer (and one from Northampton no less) is releasing new bass gear in 2018!2 points

I went to see Public Service Broadcasting last year and they do a thing before the show starts; they played a pre-recorded thing saying 'a few photos is fine, but no one really wants to watch your blurry, distorted camera phone footage.' This met with a huge cheer. It was almost as if that statement simply ridiculed the proposed usage...I saw one or two people taking stills, but that was about it.2 points

Hi Folks Up for sale our Behringer X Air 18 Digital Mixer, also comes with a notebook loaded with the software, so essentialy plug n play ready. Im after £450 which is about £100 off new plus we'll throw in the tablet which cost £50. Its about a year old, done about 30 gigs no problems, in very good condition. Reason for selling? Well, we're a pretty straightforward rock 3 piece and this is beyond our comfort zone, there's a lot of possibilities here that we don't have the time or patience to master so we want to go back to analogue desks, all we need is a little reverb on the vocals and thats it, this does a whole, whole lot more. Willing to shift a little on the price but please no p*ss taking! Thanks for looking!1 point

Haha! - I knew there was a reason I much prefer the headphone out on my B3n to my Vox Amplug. But after the reviews above, looks like I'd better relist it then on Fleabay and with a low starting price!1 point

Another option if you have an iPad / iPhone is to get an iRig or similar.1 point

I'm not sure that I agree with that - if your sound is boomy due to a hollow stage, and HPF can tame the boom, similarly if you want more punch and less mud, an HPF plus bass boost can fix that for you. In both cases you can hear the difference. David1 point

This is the final version of a board that' been in progress now for a few months. M5 wasn' getting used so it' made way for the Zeus in the loop of the gr2. All source audio pedals are in the volume loop as they can be switched on and off via midi. Powered by a pp2+ and a fuel tank under the board. The hub is under there too.1 point

I went to the Chris Rock show at the SSE Arena Wembley on Friday night and it was an absolute shambles. The timings were supposed to be roughly a 7.55pm start with an hour of warm up acts before Chris was due to come on at 9. I arrived at 7.30pm thinking half an hour should be enough to get through security - wrong! When I arrived there were massive queues at each of the entrances. Moving very, very slowly. It got to 8.30 and I was still outside having not moved very far, thinking would I even get in by 9pm when Chris was due to start. Some people ahead of me at this point just gave up and left. It was around 8.45 that the security started to shift people to other entrances to ease the congestion and then just started whizzing people through, obviously in an attempt to get everybody in by 9. The little pouches that hold your phone are designed so a strong magnet holds it together. It probably wouldn't take much force to open it. Also there's no window - my thoughts were what if somebody needed to get hold of me in an emergency? I wouldn't even be able to see if a family member was trying to get in touch. And of course at the end after the gig finished, there wasn't enough people outside to open the pouches up to retrieve the phone, so was waiting for about 15 mins to get that done. This will do nothing to stop people recording if they want to. I saw people in the arena with phones that hadn't been locked away. Anybody could simply take 2 phones and have one locked and use the other or a camera to record. In fact there was a guy in the front row who got kicked out after about 15 mins when Chris noticed he was recording with a camera. Whilst the idea is good that people should enjoy the show without a sea of phones in their faces, the execution needs to be vastly improved.1 point

Any excuse to put this out there again. The bass groove that David Dyson sets up at 2.38 is as funky as I've ever heard (and I've shamelessly nicked it whenever possible).1 point

Delete 'get upset' and replace it with 'find it tiresome' and you're about right. I mean come on. "You're a snowflake, ner ner ni ner ner *pokes tongue out*". It's straight out of a primary school playground.1 point

For sale: two Barefaced One10 speaker cabs at £300 each. UPDATE 30th Jan: both now sold The manufacturer's site is here: https://barefacedbass.com/product-range/one10.htm , but the key features are: LOUD small: 38cm x 29cm x 28cm light: 7kg I have two available, both in very good condition. There are a couple of really very minor scuffs. Included in the £300 price is your choice of: either a branded Roqsolid slip cover or a World Rhythm cajon case which the One10 fits nicely into, leaving a spare 12cm x 30cm x 30cm at one end - perfect for a typical class D head, or some cables etc. I can also throw in, if wanted, an angled stand. The cab(s) are available to collect from me in south-west London (near Wimbledon), or I could possibly drive a short distance to meet up. I also have plans to be in Salisbury and Brighton over the next few weeks, if that helps. I have one suitable box, so I could post one of the cabs at cost (£20). I could potentially source a second box, but would do this by request rather than pre-emptively. (N.B. the angled stand doesn't fit in the box, so I can't post that.) There is a set of 11 photos here: https://imgur.com/a/3M8KD My marketplace feedback: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/159971-jrixn1/ Happy to answer any questions or take additional specific photos.1 point

I`d look at a Mex Fender Precision, then swap the tuners to Hipshots. Better tuners, plus lighter too. Should be able to do that within budget pretty easily (I did).1 point

I had a Dolphin..loved it, but sold it Then I had a Corvette...needed some parts...contacted Warwick...worst customer service from a music company I ever had. At one of our Bass Bashes I contacted loads of companies - D'Addario, Strings'n' Things and a couple of others donated stuff for the raffle - Warwick? Sweet FA and were rude about it too.." we could run our own event" but they never have...Fack'em I say!! I'll take fair offers on the Streamer..1 point

I joined a ska band about a week ago, had my first gig with them on Saturday. A quick 45 minute set at an indoor event, it was an ideal introduction. Had a whale of a time, loved it. They have a big following and so there was a very decent crowd, all up and dancing from the B of the bang. Set list was: The Prince 007 Gangsters Is This Love? Israelites Ghost Town Tears Of A Clown A Message To You Rudy On My Radio No No No Baggy Trousers Special Brew Night Boat To Cairo I've really enjoyed learning these songs; I was already familiar with them, as ska was the sound of my youth and I've always loved it, and it was great to finally play it. There are some wonderful basslines in there -- my personal highlights are Ghost Town and the utterly gorgeous Is This Love?. Next gig is in two weeks; a longer one this time, more songs to learn!1 point
