  1. Depends entirely on the band, but I'm currently doing some post-punky new wave meets Hawkwind meets King Crimson-ish prog type stuff, and I'm using my Origin BassRig Super Vintage for the basic sound to give me just a bit of JJ-esque type grunt, and it works brilliantly in the mix. We're currently doing some studio recording and I couldn't be happier with the DI'd bass sound...
  2. Back to Norfolk again end of next week if anyone that way is interested in this?
  3. It always sounded like a pretty cliched tune to me. But then I'm not into metal so what do I know?
  4. Sweet Child of Mine. Horrible screeching over tedious clichéd bad American rock music.
  5. I may be heading down to north Norfolk next month so could potentially meet up somewhere mutually convenient if you were interest in it?
  6. Very similar to my old bass, except mine had a Wenge neck and fretboard. Still miss it sometimes - the low B did throb mightily indeed. GLWTS.
  7. Anything in a garish colour. Horrible metal-style pointy things. The Venn diagram overlap for these is usually pretty large...
  8. At least that's the same continent. I generally specifically say not outside the UK, but almost always get asked. I don't even bother answering them anymore tbh.
  9. 'Will you ship it to X country?', when advert clearly states otherwise. Similar for other idiotic questions by numpties who haven't read said ad properly.
  10. Everyone knows you can't do heavy metal in dobly...
  11. Excellent condition, light weight 2x10 400W 8 Ohm speaker cabinet with adjustable tweeter. Solid build with a fantastic versatile sound. Comes with Roqsolid cover (minor tear), fitted with casters by myself to make it easier to shove around. Bought at the start of the year for a new project, but having recently moved to a more modular set up, this is no longer required. Local sale only, although will consider meet up within reasonable distance.
  12. I was gonna say Language Barrier. I would probably also have Little Creatures by Talking Heads. Have to say though, I thought it was a lean time after the splendour of the early 80s post punk new wave period.
  13. Nice, reminds me of Bill Bruford, another drummer who spanned the jazz and rock worlds
  14. I saw them last Friday in Manchester, thought it was a great gig although the bass was not as loud as I would have liked, which I accept may have been down to where we were sitting. Nice to hear lots of new material too including a good few unreleased tracks, which I thought was a bold move by Gabriel, given his extensive back catalogue.
  15. I watched a bit of their set last night, Debbie sounded pretty ropey at the start, although it was hard to hear her as she was lost in the mix. She definitely improved as they went on, and I think she just about gets away with it through sheer coolness. Glen sounded OK, but nothing special. The thing that spoilt it for me most though were the guitar heroics, which I thought were totally jarring.
  16. Hello from the green and pleasant lands of the Wirral 😄
  17. I love the sound of the D'addarios but always find them just too damn stiff for me. Currently have my fretless strung with the GHS pressurewounds which are very nice indeed
  18. Not only that, but he rarely played the same arrangement of any of his songs more than once either. He was about as far from most live music today as you can imagine.
  19. I don't play covers myself, but with my punter hat on, I can't think of anything more dull than watching a bunch of drones churning through a cover where everything played exactly the same as the original. Seems like a totally pointless exercise to me.
