  1. It certainly is, there's always more to learn, which is the joy of it. Pretty much the same story as me, the musicmaster was all I could afford, and I don't think I was particularly aware of scale lengths either! Can't see your photo unfortunately, but I googled them and they look pretty cool!
  2. Who knows! I have wondered what happened to it though... It was my entry to the world of bass and I'm still trying to master it some 40 years later!!
  3. I have finally joined the club, and now own a short scale bass for the first time since 1984, when I sold my off-white Fender Musicmaster for £50... if only I knew! Ongoing lower back issues have forced me to consider something light and less strenuous to play, especially for long band rehearsals, so after much research and trying out a couple of basses from the fairly limited options available to me locally, I ended up ordering a Reverend Sentinel in Black from Merchant City Music in Glasgow. I'm very happy with my purchase, the sound is tight and punchy, the quality of the bass and the components is excellent and I love the 50s retro look of it - to my eyes it is much better proportioned than a lot of short scales seem to be, which I think is mainly down to the head stock size. Great value for the money, and I'm sure it will give me years of excellent service. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried one. Here's me with my old Fender back in the day...
  4. Hi All, Our band's debut album is now available on Bandcamp and the usual other streaming outlets. Recorded at the excellent Crosstown studios in Liverpool earlier this year, we're pretty happy with the results. Please give it a listen, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. https://awkland.bandcamp.com/album/epithreat Cheers folks! Neil
  5. Bought a Big Muff deluxe from Steve today, local collection, all done and dusted within a couple of hours! Top bloke, pedal as described and in good working order. A pleasure doing business Steve!
  6. Fresh out of the studio yesterday, our second EP is now available. https://awkland.bandcamp.com/album/triumviral Enjoy!
  7. Saw them in Liverpool last night, they sounded ace. Chrissy was clearly struggling a bit with a hip/leg problem towards the end, but she still delivered a great performance. Don't point your camera phone at her though (I'm with her on this). The bass looked all black to me - we were up in the circle so I couldn't tell what is was unfortunately.
  8. Recently got our first 'EP' onto Spotify! Back in the studio in December to finish off the other 3 tracks we started earlier in the year, so more to follow soon hopefully.
  9. Andertons are very helpfully going to supply me with a replacement battery holder gratis! Thank to everyone for their suggestions, offers of help etc.
  10. Thanks for the offer, but I'll figure something out myself.
  11. Yeah, that was my plan if I can't get a suitable replacement. Cheers 👍
  12. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Gc322a5tnhMRk8qr6 Dimensions are 70 x 50 mm. I'd be surprised if nobody else had had this problem, given how poor the quality of it is. I've contacted andertons to see if they can get me a replacement, hopefully they will be able to help me out.
  13. It takes 2 batteries unfortunately, but thanks anyway.
  14. Finally, a Christmas song I can really get behind!
  15. Hi, Does anyone know of a replacement battery holder that will fit the above? I bought the bass 2 years ago as a backup and have only just had to change the batteries. Unfortunately, the plates in the stock holder are really crap and aren't making contact with the batteries - one of them actually seems to be loose. The only one I can find so far is by Gotoh, but it's too big for the cavity. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Cheers, Mr Jelly
  16. Debut at Cavern Pub open mic last month
  17. Our new EP released today... https://awkland.bandcamp.com/album/somethink-and-nothink
  18. I'm having a bit of a clear out, and I no longer need the following pedals. All are in decent nick apart from the odd scratch, and all are fully functional. More images available on request. Add £5 for postage, original boxes for the Flashback and Mooer only, but all pedals will be well packaged. Flashback 2x4 - £100 SOLD Mooer Tender Ocataver - £50 Strymon Blue Sky - £180 SOLD EHX Bass Soul Food - £50 SOLD Boss Bass Overdrive ODB-3 - £50 SOLD Thanks for looking, Neil
  19. Depends entirely on the band, but I'm currently doing some post-punky new wave meets Hawkwind meets King Crimson-ish prog type stuff, and I'm using my Origin BassRig Super Vintage for the basic sound to give me just a bit of JJ-esque type grunt, and it works brilliantly in the mix. We're currently doing some studio recording and I couldn't be happier with the DI'd bass sound...
  20. Cab currently on holiday in Norfolk till next Wednesday
  21. Back to Norfolk again end of next week if anyone that way is interested in this?
  22. It always sounded like a pretty cliched tune to me. But then I'm not into metal so what do I know?
