So Mick, as you are reading this ( cos you have just text me to say you are) why not do the decent thing, pay people back, apologise and stop ripping people off across the UK. Especially ripping off fellow musicians/bassists who are having the absolute shittest of times with no gigs ( I know you are boasting about still gigging with your pantomime buddies) and low on funds and you 'sell gear' with absolutely no intent of sending it, apart from back to yourself! The absolute lowest of the low and I hope everyone including myself gets their money back and you pay for being an absolute silly man We aren't 'sad keyboard warriors' its a community who gives a stinky poo and when someone like yourself acts in this abhorrent way it needs to be highlighted and dealt with.13 points

Mark's custom build 32" scale Zoot bass ZB-1000, is almost finished. Here I have just applied two coats of clear sealer to his very special "Roasted flame maple & Purple heart" neck. I think the top coats when applied will at depth to the flame.6 points

Well, the itch refused to go away, so it needed to be scratched. Goodbye class D, hello EBS TD650. My cab has been locked away at a rehearsal space since picking the amp up, but I managed to retrieve it this morning and finally try the two of them together. Only played at home levels so far (albeit rather loud home levels, as the neighbours were out!) and all I can say is that I haven’t stopped smiling. Tried it with my Streamer Stage 1 and my Dingwall NG2, and it just sounds fabulous. I’m so glad I have no willpower and gave in so easily and bought one!5 points

Looking to trade my Bongo 4H. 2010 build. Colour is Ice Blue. Pickup has neodymium magnets and the electronics are 18v 3 band active EQ. The single H Bongo is discontinued now and some of the features described have since migrated to the post 2018 StingRay Specials. This example is in really excellent cosmetic condition (small nick on the lower horn) with no structural, electronics or playability issues. Bass is super light on the shoulder! One thing of note is that there is a colouration difference between the neck and the body which is more noticeable in natural light. The neck has remained blue where as the body has taken on a slightly greenish tint in certain lights. This is fairly common to Bongos depending on the colour. A while back I owned a white 4HS Bongo where the neck stayed polar white and the body turned a cream colour. This bass doesn’t have the MM hard case but comes with an official deluxe MusicMan gig bag. Ideally looking for a trade for a nice StingRay 3EQ (already sorted for a 2EQ Ray) Also open to trades or p/ex deals with other MusicMan basses. Your bass must be in excellent condition with no issues. I‘m in South Ayrshire about 30 miles south of Glasgow. As some of you know, I've started collecting late 80's-early 90's Charvels, Jacksons etc. Well, I picked a gorgeous 1988 Charvel 2B on Friday. It's a beautiful metallic blue colour and a lovely weight too. Despite all the hairspray and Brut on it, it's cleaned up well and sounds fab. I've managed to snap half of the tone pot shaft off, but other then that it's definitely giggable (should they ever happen again). These Japanese instruments are super quality and because they're still unfashionable, they're very good value for money too.4 points

Well, there was a surprise knock at the door this morning with a rather hassled looking UPS driver and my guitar. Apparently, the guitar had been loaded on to a contractor driver's van for delivery about a week ago (because they're so busy they've been using contractors to assist). The contractor had basically neglected to deliver anything in the area, so the poor regular driver was having to work Saturdays to make good all the deliveries. The driver couldn't have been nicer or more apologetic: he was totally blameless for any of the issues but it was great customer service from him.4 points

Happy to report everything's OK. 🙂 The bass was in an old-fashioned wooden-ish hardcase, which really isn't designed to be walked on, but somehow it all got through unscathed. The seller is pretty cross, and is taking it up with Interparcel. (Incidentally, I video'ed the unboxing just in case) Right... Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Maggie: In what will be a huge surprise to none of you, it's an early 70s P. '71, to be exact. I thought I was done with maple P's, but this one is just over 8lbs so I couldn't resist. Pickguard & wires / pots are replacements. It's been refinned (black over original black, apparently.) Everything else is original. First thing that hits me... it's massively resonant. Feels lovely so far...4 points

Let’s nip this slander thing in the bud shall we? What harm has been caused to the individual as a result of what has been said? That is for the person in question to prove. If he has the cajones to ‘brief’ himself up, I believe he will open himself up to a can of worms. He would potentially have to allege something along the lines of ‘I have been unable to sell anything in X’ directly because of what ‘Y’ said and it is as a direct result and he would have to provide evidence to support it. Personally, I wouldn’t worry about the threat of slander. All in my humble opinion of course.3 points

This is my bitsa. It’s my backup for my main bass in my band. I’m in the process of changing all the hardware to black. Unknown body bought for £20 about 5 years ago and refinished by me in surf green. It’s been bashed about a bit in those years. Neck is a mighty mite jazz tuners (on the way)will be black hipshot hb7 as there the only ones I could find to fit without redrilling holes. pickup is a G&L MFD as my other bass that I use in this band is a SB-2. pickguard is by Tim at gigink. Headstock decal says Franken precision this is tuned to drop C with Kallium strings3 points

I’ve had a lot of dealings with this guy, to be fair never had a problem and everything delivered as normal. I purchased three pedals over different periods never any issues, I’ve learned in life that there are always two sides to every story and see a lot of this bandwagon jumping, anyway that’s my experience of this.3 points

As previously discussed @ped, I’ve historically advised against these types of threads. That said, having read all the posts thus far, I don’t see anything that would potentially harm any defence (everything here is legally disclosable - if it gets that far). Providing everything is kept factual and that those facts can be supported, I think it’s a good idea to leave it open. After all, we don’t know the extent of the alleged deception(s). There maybe more than we know of at this stage. It’s your choice ultimately, but I don’t see an issue providing this doesn’t veer into wild speculation and/or threats - which it hasn’t thus far. IMHO of course. Hope you guys get your money back 🤞.2 points

An Ibby Blazer bass was one of my first basses. I really don’t remember much about it but i agree about the Japanese 80’s basses if my memory serves me well. Boring story but a mate of mine turned up to one of my gigs a few years ago with a Dingwall and a Ibanez Roadstar bass he just brought. He wanted me to use both. We did 3 sets. First with the Dingwall, other two with the Ibby. The Ibby won by miles. I had played the Dingwall before, and it was very easy to play, but seemed sterile and boring. The Ibby was amazing. Such a tight P bass sound which although not too growling, just filled out the mix and had so much kick and character. I have a BB425 and yes, its a bit hotter and has a bit more bite to it. Its the only PJ or JJ ive had that I could play the bridge pup and not feel a drop in body and volume. The two basses sound noticeably different, but still with the same type of sound if that makes sense. I’m sure there are more experienced BB owners here that can put it in better, but you are right, the 434 is more ‘Fender’ P bass sounding.2 points

I saw this thread with hope and regret ... two years ago I thought this tech seemed like a brilliant idea ... and put down a deposit for a 6-string. In the last year there was an apparently dead website and no replies to emails ... and I was left thinking it was a risk or a gamble that hadn't paid off ... I contacted Darren & Peter here ... followed a trail of advice ... discovering that James Chick has left the company, and a direct email for Steve Chick ... and got a reply! Apparently Covid and rosewood debacles has meant they've lost their factory but Steve is still keeping their operation going ... he's got parts like necks and bodies from Warmoth and hopes to be getting things painted and presumably then assembled in the new year ... maybe my deposit isn't lost ... and perhaps the same for those hoping for a bass too?2 points

Yeah not bad places to sell if you’re a trustworthy basschatter - but be extra careful when buying from someone who might not be! @LukeFRC yes drastically - we didnt have a huge problem before but we did have one or two that I can remember. And since FB marketplace/groups took off its actually been good for us because it motivates people to sell, and once you’ve decided to try a free platform I think people are more likely to go the paid route too. It means more gear floating around and that’s all good as far as I’m concerned. BC is more concerned about the quality of our marketplace than quantity of adverts.2 points

The lutherie and concept of these instruments is much aligned with the world of violins, double basses, cellos and the like. The folks that work in those fields know and understand how and why they work, and respect these methods. There are fine luthiers that can return this bass to its original, more-than-excellent state, whereby she would be, not simply playable, but very fine, class instrument, both acoustically (although not in the sense of playing in an acoustic band, just splendid tone...) and amplified, within the remit of 'old school' repertoire. The work needed is not difficult, for a suitably experienced luthier (indeed, it's almost their daily lot...), and will render the bass fit for purpose for at least the next half-century. Given her present state, it behoves the owner to ensure that she can give of her best for future generations. No short cuts, no half-measures, no bodging. It wouldn't necessarily be expensive, either, in the right hands. Done 'wrongly' the guitar would be destroyed. Think of the children..!2 points
