I did some experimenting on my lunch break today. I've been using my GX-100 solely for ages now, but was wondering what some dirt in the loop would be like. Magnificent is the answer... I need to tidy it all up and get a shorter stereo cable for the FV-500H, plus I've got a current double arriving tomorrow to power my GX from the main power supply. Looking forward to testing it at our gig tomorrow!6 points

Another day, another pedalboard iteration. Still not sure if the Black Math will stay on here or go on my mini guitar board. Thinking I’ll rig up the Thru on the Olympic incase I want to run guitar through this board into the Science Mother preamp.6 points

That was what I said after trying the Cort Space out at Bass Direct. One came up on Gumtree for a sum not unadjacent to £400, although I had a 280 mile round trip to pick it up. So today I went on that journey, braving the imbeciles on the M11 and A14, and picked up the black Space. The seller didn't get on with 5-strings, so was selling it after just a month or so. I'll be able to do a proper back to back comparison between the Space and the Ibanez EHB1265MS with added Aguilar pickup goodness.5 points

This thread looks like the right place. I played one of these at BassDirect last year (which sold) and loved it. I have been drooling over this one at Andertons since, and when it went on clearance with nearly 40% off I had to go for it. Arrived and gigged on the same day, no setup required. Sounds 100% what you expect it to.5 points

Hi, I've decided to go for something a little different so my RM800 is available. 800w model. Been used on about 20 gigs per year since I've had this, sometime simply as a preamp/di box where in-ears have been available. Works fine, only used the compressor but drive and octaver sound fine. All eq works as it should. Some minor scuffing on the casing. The bag has lost its zip but ok for carrying around if needed. Hope I don'y regret selling as it's the 3rd Rootmaster I've owned Will be available from midweek this coming week. Looking for £250 incl UK postage.4 points

Bought new in May 2024 and only used at home (for DJ setup with record decks and mixer with fx loop, but I've now got digital decks and mixer that doesn't have fx loop). I have the shop receipt.4 points

What is this EQ of which you speak? They're flats ... go with the way they sound. 🙂 You'll be hooked for life by the end of the first set4 points

Hello May very well regret this, but this was a 40th birthday gift to myself. And now I have to admit that I just don't play it as much as I thought I would and it is a tad ridiculous that I own this! So reluctantly exploring moving it on. So here goes This is my 1977 Fender USA Mustang Bass. Bought from https://www.vintagerareandretro.co.uk/ about a year ago. Bass is well played, the usual nicks and wear and tear from a bass over 46 years old. The headstock seems to have taken the biggest hits! Volume and tone controls work correctly and as far as I can tell the tuners and bridge are all original. Nice playing bass, just a bit wasted on me Also comes with hardcase Based in London and would be looking for pickup only and of course you are more than welcome to try the bass out Cheers Adam3 points

but this guy is very nifty. However, he is also accompanied by superb bass playing! Apparently the bass player is Thiago Espírito Santo, not a name I've heard before Old video - 9 years ago ...3 points

Or almost, that is... Just ordered a new Ibanez GSRM20B Mikro Bass in Weathered Black finish from Thomann. Should be here Wednesday or Thursday next week. Just 28.6" scale length, Maple neck, bound Purple Heart (which is almost as hard as and stiffer than Ebony) fretboard, Okoume (which is a cheap alternative to Mahogany, lighter and not as hard, but is supposed to have very similar tonewood qualities, and looks a lot like Mahogany too) body. (following image is from Ibanez's own homepage) Plan on fitting at set of P/J EMG Geezer Butler pickups in it as soon as I get it. I'll update this thread with pictures of the actual bass, when I get it.3 points

In order to hit two birds with one slap. Ánd a 5-string for that one time in a month I crave that ánd the classic-ish stingray sound. Didn’t want to fork out the cash for a true stingray, and didn’t really fancy the standard 5-string Ray cosmetics. This appears to be the perfect blend of 4-string looks, somewhat seventies sound and style and at an affordable price point… picked this one up 2nd hand but defacto new (plastic still on the batter cover) for next to nothing… plays really nice, sounds a bit barky, but need to rewire it to parallel. An absolute boat-anchor though!3 points

NOW SOLD PRICE DROP (7/8/24) Now considering offers around £5500 Here we have my Lovaszi 'Stella' double bass that I bought new at Laurence Dixon's Bass Place (London) in 2016. This is a very unusual model as (I believe) it is the only bass Andras Lovaszi has put his name to with 'Busetto' corners. The bass is 3/4 size with a 41 inch scale length. The Bass Place website says that the Stella model "is made of maple and spruce aged at least eight years, and carries the top of the range machine heads and endpins from the same German supplier. These have aged varnish." These basses are fully carved by master craftsmen in Hungary then finished with high quality hardware in the UK. I used this bass extensively when I was working as a pro musician in London/SE England and it's an absolutely wonderful instrument. This model has narrow shoulders so the access to the mid/upper range of the bass is fantastic. Would be very suitable for Jazz or tuned to solo tuning. Currently strung with Evah Pirazzi Weich strings which I personally love. Pickup in person from Leeds and I would highly recommend making the trip to try the bass in person. It sounds as good as it looks! Offers around 6000 will be considered. NOW 55002 points

I'm not saying mine are the right hands, but here is me playing (accordion) bass in my friend's covers band. I play recorder too, and viola. I'm a real sucker for unpopular instruments!2 points

Same as mine, I think it was mentioned earlier somewhere that it’s ok to clip the red but not to be continuously in it2 points

I defretted a Squier Affinity Strat that I got for very little as the neck was somewhat bowed (Crack Converters staff don't understand truss rods). Must go back over it, the filling I did is pretty horrible.2 points

Update. Having read this thread, Phil Mann has contacted me directly via Faceache. He has arranged a full refund from Nathan at Sushiboxfx on the understanding that when/if the pedal arrives from its Chinese odyssey, I will repay Nathan. To put it bluntly, I am blown away by both Phil’s intervention and Nathan’s trust in doing this. So all’s well that ends well as they say, and hopefully the pedal will eventually show up on this side of the pond after its world tour.2 points

I agree, it's a normal poly coat though so as hardy as any others. It's had a couple of impacts so far and not even a dent.2 points

I remember it being advertised for sale on here. I was considering buying it just so I would have something to piss off anyone who wanted me to use a P-Bass!2 points

Sheryl Crow last night at The Piece Hall in Halifax. A wonderful 18th century building built in a square, designed for cloth weavers to sell their goods. Despite my aversion to large / outdoor gigs ( see post above), me and Mrs CP got some tickets for this gig as we both love Sheryl and she wasn't doing anything else on this brief UK tour that was near or indoor so we bit the bullet. Weather was awful as we got to the gig, but we found shelter under the arches on the perimeter whilst watching support band Dea Matrona, whose bassist sounded great on her Mustang bass. Fortunately the weather improved as SC and her band came on around 9pm. Great mix in a space that I would imagine can’t have been easy for her engineer. Band were wonderful, with Robert Kearns using Reverend, Fano, MM Stingray G&L basses. He also played guitar and Wurlitzer piano on a few songs, during which Sheryl played bass on her Guild M85, and sounded fine too. Audley Freed on guitar was his usual brilliant self, although missing fellow long standing SC guitarist Peter Stroud for this tour. Tim Smith did a good job standing in though. Sheryl was superb, in great voice and looking amazing! They did all the older stuff everyone loved, as well as a couple from Sheryl’s recent album ’Evolution’. Played for around 1 hr 40 mins. They have a few more UK dates, recommended. (pics below not mine, obvs!)2 points

Gibson did that to me twice when I tried to buy a Grabber 3 70s Tribute bass... The second one had faulty wiring - buzzed and hummed all over the place. I sent them both back and gave up. Thing gave me zero vibes of the OG G-3 anyway - it was like someone had described the G-3 down the phone.2 points

It would have been perfect, if only they has drilled "cheese" holes into it, for the genuine "rodents at work on the attic" effect. I predict the next trend will be cutting off random parts of the headstock and body, and deep "going nuts with pointy end of the hammer" gouges. Maybe even protruding, broken off or entirely missing bridge, neck pocket, tuner and pickup screws, broken tuners, demagnetized pickups, faulty wiring, and clumsily ripped out, broken and missing frets, from stock.2 points

You are right. What I should have said is that the cover should be either in your genre or arranged/reworked to be in your genre.2 points

I think the point being made is that most of the time the two devices will be less than 40m apart. However if you've only got a 40m leads you'll always be coiling up 40m of cables. If instead you have a selection of 10m and 5m leads you only need to use enough to get from A to B and the rest can stay coiled up in your lead bag, and you'll only need to coil 40m of cable when you actually need 40m of cable. I makes sense to me.2 points

So here is the second of the two basses I thought I would never part with. (The first was my White Falcon and I miss it! If you’re reading this, I hope you’re enjoying her, Dale). This 1967 4005 is, of course, in played condition, I’d say pretty good actually for a well enjoyed 57 year old. As the pics show there are a few battle scars here and there with a surprisingly small area of buckle rash on the back. There’s also some varnish cracking/lifting at the top of the fretboard. The original case gave up the ghost some time ago so there’s a replacement hard shell one included. (Hard to find!) Pickups sound good and strong to me (last gig with her was a month or so ago, I don’t use her all the time - I have to be selective). I’ve never had her set up or adjusted, I’d say any fret wear is minimal despite the rounds I fitted and her neck is straight. As far as I’m aware everything is original, I don’t have the courage or the necessary skills to start taking things apart but I guess I’d be prepared to lift the scratchplate for pics if needed. I’ve had the privilege of owning her for, I think, about 10 years, purchased from a Talkbass member in New Jersey. The only trade I’d be up for would specifically be against a 1956 Precision …. any out there?? Happy to take more pics if asked. Sorry, UK sale only and there is absolutely no way she’s going anywhere with any kind of courier so it’s strictly collection only or possibly a mutually agreed meet-up. Thanks for looking!2 points

Done a handful of gigs with mine over the last 6 weeks, it’s a great pedal, I definitely prefer it to the V1. Although being the ridiculous gear idiot I am, I’ve just bought a big box to compare and scratch the itch of “does it really sound better?”, first impression after a quick play was a hmmm, I dunno? It’s definitely bigger though. 😂2 points

A few years ago, I joined a Marillion tribute band. Pete Trewavas plays a Warwick Thumb (which I had) but also there's a fair few pictures of him with a Cort GB4 (or it could be a GB94, the only visible difference is the colour of the logo IIRC). So I bought one, and found it a great bass. However, I was deposed from the band and because I only play 5-strings, I sold the GB4. However, I did fancy the 5-string version and a few days ago got the urge to have a look and see if anyone was selling one. Indeed there was one for sale from @jimmybass04 which he'd advertised a while ago but there was no sign of it being sold. It was indeed still available, and to save me a 300 mile trip to Glasgow, he had a friend bring it down to Leeds, a far more reasonable 120 miles away. So I went up there yesterday to pick it up. Lovely condition, fitted with Schaller S-Lock straplocks, although I think I'll be taking the flatwounds off in favour of lighter gauge roundwounds. Took it to an open mic night last night and it was fine, not a lightweight but I mainly sit when playing so that's not really an issue. Pickups are Jazz and humbucker which produce a very full and balanced sound. The tuners are Hipshot Ultralight (presumably the licensed ones) - nice attention to detail. The headstock, like a Fender, isn't angled back, and there's a string tree across all five strings to give a good break angle. Fretwork is good and the fretboard edges are nicely rounded.2 points

I have one on its way, will report back on the condition later today hopefully.2 points

Not had chance to try them (aside from 5 mins with the Black Math on guitar) but very excited to completely rebuild my board again to accommodate these beauties 🙌2 points

I disagree with the "stay in your genre" bit - we do guitar based songs with no guitars and drag them kicking and screaming into our world. Goes down well, familiar but different. Variants of "you guys do a kickass version of X" have been said to us.2 points

I've put the Meatball on my pedalboard (it JUST fits!) so I can do the final phase of testing against my Mutron. I might need to move the tuner sideways a bit but I stuck it down with that ridiculously strong dual lock and might leave that fight for another day P.S I sometimes like an octave or fuzz in the Meatball loop - I tend to use an OC2 but I might make another board just for the loop with another fuzz and phaser on it too.2 points
