  1. I picked this 100w valve Super Bass up a couple of days ago in Scotland It had been owned by a Polish guy. I did some internet digging and found nothing. No pictures No info. Eventually I found a link to Reverbs background on the high end Laboga amps. Including this " In 1973, Laboga built an amplifier for Joachim Rzychoń, the then-bass guitarist for the famed Polish band Niebiesko Czarni. This was a turning point for Laboga, whose reputation continued to grow until he became the Polish authority in amplifiers—a title he still holds half a century later .Adam Laboga’s first guitar amplifier—a modified Marshall Plexi design—was called the Diamond Sound. The name and the use exclusive use of 1970s-era technology make a return in Laboga’s premium amplifier series, which technically and visually recalls the Marshall." The article also had the attached photo from 1972. I've emailed Laboga and they have asked to see more photos. You will see the rear has serial no 1 however it looks like i'ts screen printed and the the factory would probably add 001 002 etc. the amp in the old picture has a lighter Diamond sound logo so I expect my amp is a later model. Anyone got any ideas? info? Stories? Opened it up tonight. A bit of careful refurb will be required before firing it up for the first time. Bare wires and burnt circuit board. See photos

  2. SOLD PENDING HANDOVER Hey guys. For sale here is my 1989 Pedulla MVP5. Built by the now-retired Mike Pedulla, this is an absolute corker of an instrument. I'm selling as it just doesn't get enough play time as I use my Warwick Thumb for 95% of everything I do now and I want some new toys, it's a shame to leave this sitting it's case, so it's time to move it on. Specs: Made in 1989 in Massachusetts, USA 5 string 34" scale Neck thru Maple body and neck Flamed maple top and back Schaller tuners Bartolini P and J pickups Ebony fretboard Cherryburst finish Brass nut 17.5mm string spacing at the bridge Overall, the bass is in great condition for something built in 1989. It has some player marks; there is a chip on the side of the body, a patch on the back that wore through and was refinished by a previous owner and the lacquer on the side of the fretboard is chipped a little around the 12-15th frets on the low B side of the fretboard - pics included. The playability and tone are superb, as you'd expect from someone as renowned as Mike Pedulla. Deep and rich, great for the Jaco sound if you solo the bridge, the P pickup sounds really fat and rich on it's own and the pair in combo is fantastic - I generally run it with both pickups on equal, it sounds great. The pickups are a special set that were made for Pedulla basses. There had been some discussion as to whether Mike might let Bill Bartolini market them after Mike retired, but it never materialised, so that is another thing that is special and unique to these basses. With Mike now retiring, there won't be any new Pedullas born into the world. I am extremely grateful to have owned one and ticked it off my bucket list, I had wanted one since I was 17 years old and saw someone playing one in a band at a hotel I worked at. They really do look, feel and sound amazing. The bass will ship in the original Pedulla hard shell case. The truss rod tool and the original truss rod instructions from Mike Pedulla are included in the case. You are welcome to come and try the bass out in person if you like, I'm in Bedlington, Northumberland, about 25 minutes north of Newcastle upon Tyne. I can meet within some range of Newcastle if we agree on the arrangements. For the sale, I can do cash if the bass is collected in person. Bank transfer and PayPal are options too, but with PayPal, there are of course additional PayPal fees to consider. I can ship UK or EU, shipping will be at the buyer's expense and of course, I will only ship insured, for the protection of me and the next owner of this fine bass. I'm more than happy to provide additional pictures or answer questions about the bass, so please give me a shout if you wish. Cheers, Dave

  3. I dug this old beast out of the loft. Not working right now, some wires off and no tone cap. It will be working once I get some new pots/socket fitted. Anyone know anything about this old Gordon Smiths? There is an old thread but not much info.

  5. Within seconds of listing a guitar for sale on Facebook I attracted a lot of scammers. I got a handful of "hey! Is your product like this?" Then a load of suspicious links. I reported them and Facebook very quickly told me they did not have enough evidence to see there was a scam in play. Then came Karim. I understand Karim to be a male name. I looked up Karim's profile and he/ she has changed gender and ethnicity a number of times according to the profile photos. He or he also isn't very sophisticated in trying to scam people...

  9. The emergence of class D heads had me very excited! 800 watts in small box light box. No more lugging around huge transformers, great! Except apart from the easy carry the rest of the story has been pretty erm stinky poo!! Despite 8 years, five heads and every Eq patten under the sun. I simply cannot get on with the sound at volume. 😬 I”ve tried TC Electronics (BH 550) Aguilar (TH500) Tech 21 (VT) Markbass (Tube 800) and finally Mesa Boogie (D800) and no matter if you put a valve in front of them, a compressor before them, a neo or a ceramic speaker from them, or summon a religious cult behind them. They sound too direct at volume to my ears. I tried, but I’m going back to my Class A/B happy place! 😊

  10. I received a Triungulo Lab Malombra this morning, a chorus pedal based on the Boss CE2W (CE1 mode). It’s from the same stable as the Barbanera Moog MF-101 clone and has the same build quality and fantastic paint job. It’s surprisingly versatile as a chorus on account of being able to choose the rate, depth and the wave shape (which takes it a little way towards Barbanera territory), with the mix knob allowing the lows to be kept in. I don’t usually do NPDs but I haven’t really seen any for this so thought I’d do it in case anyone was curious about it.

  20. OK, I will be the first to do the obvious and put up Stevie Ray Vaughn, the King of modern urban blues (even if he has been dead for more than thirty years). It's hard to overstate just how good a guitarist SRV was (his bass player, Tommy Shannon was terrific as well). One of the great pleasures in life is sitting outside with a beer on a hot day, with SRV blasting out as loud as the neighbours will tolerate!

  21. Here is my Yamaha "Ladybug" bass. Medium scale (32"), ash body, passive, VVT controls. The neck is super comfortable to play. Lot of small nicks and dents, tried to photograph them... 3.2 kg (7 lbs). Original gigbag in bad condition. Now is strung with very old long scale flats, but they work... 24. Hi Roberto, . Just added a few pics to the dropbox directory. About the neck relief: this is the distance between the frets and the bottom of the string when the first and the last frets are pressed. Here is a pic of my bass: As you can see, there is a hair between the neck and the strings. You can adjust the action low or high, the neck is perfect. More questions please ask! Cheers, Youlian

  26. A beautiful example of the 25th Anniversary Ernie Ball Musicman 5 string - ash body with mahogany tone block, flame maple top in red burst with matching headstock. A fantastic array of tones available from the switchable pickup configuration and 4 band preamp. Can be used in passive mode too. It’s in excellent condition with only some faint scuffs around the belt buckle area on the rear of the bass. These are only noticeable when you’re looking for them and are very difficult to photograph! Maple neck with satin finish, and frets are in excellent shape. It comes with it’s Musicman 25th Anniversary case. At 11lbs/ 4.9kg it’s not a super light bass, but is perfectly balanced. 34” scale length. Can courier at cost. More pics on request. Any questions please ask!

  29. After a couple of weeks of waiting i received my Sire M2 today. I have off loaded nearly all my basses as just do not have room and now have to spend money on things like energy and food. I'm now down to an Ibanez RG guitar and the Sire. I had a V7 but just hated the neck for some reason. After watching a couple of reviews i went for the Sire M2. I have to say this thing is incredible, the neck could have been made for me. The last luxury bass i had was a Streamer stage 1 which i loved but the sound and feel of this bass is easily up there and was 4 times less expensive. Its given me a new lease of bass life after a stale period of about 7 years!

  30. As I said it’s personal choice, I can tell the difference for sure and for ages I tried to tell myself I couldn’t. Ultimately it’s personal choice, but if work done or power is a function of area under the the output graph it feels like class D are steeper spikes and A/B are more sine waves with greater work done. This may explain the need to lose heat. I’m no expert but I trust my ears. No right or wrong just personal preference! 😉

  38. So I’m selling my entire rig … Orange Little Bass Thing with two SP212 cabinets. The Amp is 500w and each cab is rated at 600w. It’s LOUD with a tiny, tiny footprint. Would like to sell complete, but might split. The cabs have covers and I still have the box that the amp came in. Happy to take more pics if needed. Cash on collection from Bournemouth please!

  43. How many other basses are affected? This could be rife across the industry. It's possible that humbuckers don't actually exist! I have already returned my Epiphone Embassy to Thomann so they can check if the so-called "probuckers" are really mutant p-90s. I am braced for the trauma and disappointment, but clearly it's better to have the test done by a professional. I don't think I could cope with the sudden change of tone experience of discovering the lie myself.
