  1. PRICE DROPPED TO SELL £500 MINT CONDITION Fender Vintera 50s Precision in beautiful Sea Foam Green. My favourite P bass I've ever owned (and I've had a handful over the years)! *Update* So I initially priced the bass based on what I could see of Vintera Ps on Reverb, Ebay etc. Based on some comments here, a little research into Vinteras that have gone on here, and the need to sell it very soon, I've dropped the price significantly. This will be the absolute final price drop; I can't go any lower! It won't be around for loads longer and I won't be devastated to hold on to it; I absolutely love this bass. It's just this is my best shot at buying my dream bass - a Ltd edition PJ I've found second hand and have a deposit on. Please note the Custom Shop '62 pickup is now sold. Bass: Bought in summer 2020, only played a couple of times outside the house and very well looked after. In mint condition. Simple, classic and beautiful in its pastel green (photos of these basses often look blue but they're greener in the flesh). I've included a photo with a tort pickguard which I had on - I will be keeping the pickguard but SFGreen/ tort looks amazing and I wanted to show it off too. Neck is the old-school 44mm width at the nut, but I've found it comfortable to play and have picked this one up again and again. Nice vintage tint to the neck but not at all sticky. Really hard to put down once you start playing. Selling because we're moving house and need less stuff! I've sold my Sterling Stingray, now putting this up and have one bass on hold for me to replace the two. Collection preferred from south Manchester (could drive within 30 miles on a Saturday too) but I will happily post it if buyer covers cost of postage and insurance. Thanks for the interest. Will

  2. Just got this 🙂 Wanted to get a Spector neckthru 5 string and this came up... I've been using a Jazz and this neck is thicker but still nice, but the sound difference is really surprising....the Jazz goes through a couple of different overdrive/distortion pedals which seems overkill for this so far...really happy with it! The quality is lovely.

  3. This Saturday we're playing Strawberry Fest. Sponsored by C.Weislers. Huge event with lots of walk by traffic. We start at 2:00. There will be a covered stage. Dep drummer, no rehearsal with him. We'll be winging it. I need this gig money. I have property taxes due on 7/31. Daryl

  5. I remember trying to get a better live sound at a gig a couple of years ago by adjusting the EQ. It took me a while but in the end I felt there was a big improvement and I got the sound I wanted. At the end of the gig, I looked at the settings on my amp and realised the EQ IN button on my amp was set at OFF. All my knob twiddling was useless, as the EQ section hadn't been switched on. Yet I had been convinced I could hear a big difference. The mind is a strange thing......

  8. I took my Squier JagWah to rehearsal last night. It was fun. Not a hint of neck dive, and it didn't feel any heavier than my P. Action was so easy. My current band demands that I play at the dusty end; til recently anything north of the 7th fret required a weeks notice so I could neck a can of spinach and get in a couple of gym sessions. But this was almost too easy. Sounded great too, bit of a David Wm Sims tone with both pickups (weedy as the bridge is on its own) and a fat P with just the P. Don't think I'll be changing them any time soon. Best surprise though was the evenness of tone between strings. The Newtone strings might be a big factor in all the above. It does need a setup though. Intonation is a bit out, easily sorted, but there's a bit of choking going on that's not apparent with the whole band making a racket but not so good for recording. It'd be nice to keep the low action so I'm taking it for a fettle by someone that won't break it.

  11. I started jamming with our old guitarist and a chap with stripped down drums (bass, snare, hihat) in what was meant to be a blues band. We started off with just straightforward progressions with each initially bluesy thing becoming improvised jazz funk or even freer. Great fun was had, but as we'd been practicing in the local church the drummer's wife (ie vicar) heard us and now we're doing our first gig at the Church Music Day this Saturday. We've got no songs, and have half an hour to fill...

  12. Bought a month or two ago on the forum. Beautiful and pretty rare, especially in this condition, but it's just that little bit too heavy for me and my knackered shoulder and back at a whisker under 9 pounds. Wearing brand new TI Flats, plays very well with nice low action and that Rick growl. Comes with Mono gigbag. Collection from public space in SW13 (Barnes, south of perma closed Hammersmith Bridge) or courier delivery at cost. No trades, sorry. The cash would come in handy for continuing medical bills and upcoming daughter's wedding!

  13. American Standard Fender Jazz Bass 2009 REDUCED TO £995 Mixed feelings about letting this go. It was my main bass for recording and gigging for many years. I think I’ve had it since 2011. There’s a lot of talk about Fenders not being as good or well-made as Sandbergs etc etc but whoever put this one together, got it right. This is the real deal. It feels great to play and it’s so punchy. I often got compliments on my sound. Anything from a ‘P-type’ sound to a Jaco honk. It has it all. 3 colour sunburst finish with maple fingerboard. ‘C’ shaped neck Fender light weight tuners It originally had a cream scratchplate but I replaced it with the tortoiseshell one. – (it actually looks pretty nice with the cream one looking at it now) - I will include both. Reasonably light at 8.42lb Comes with the original Fender SKG hard case. I’m in Malvern, Worcestershire but willing to drive half way (up to an hour) to meet up if required

  14. Bought this wonderful cab off @Mace recently and what a superb cab it is. Really opened my ears shall we say. I then bought a Barefaced cab which has wheels and overall easier for me to transport. I really like both these cabs a lot but only realistically need one. I could also do with reclaiming some real estate too so am putting this beauty up for grabs for what I paid for it. £350 gets you a 2x12, 4 ohm, 800watt Soundhouse…and worth every penny too! Hope at mace doesn’t mind me referencing the Previous add. It’s better than mine

  15. One month later. The headstock veneer was not saved or reused. Instead, the luthier found a new veneer to match the body. All that remains is for the neck (but not the headstock) to be sealed with a finish; a serial number to be put on the back of the head; and for the luthier to buy a Washburn XB925 transfer and pop it in the package (for me, postage from the USA would be $16 for a $5 item). I have an update on the colour, and another on the saddle. But for now, here, the completed neck.

  16. Yep ..I put my gk amp on there today ..literally sold in an hour 👍…it did go for a better price than I’d advertised on here ..but with the fees it’s what I would have let it go to another bass chatter..just feels better selling on here 🤟

  18. We've been playing a lot of the same stuff for over 15 years. However, our material is pretty much wide open. And we never play anything the same twice. I posted a video of us performing Neil Young's " Ohio". We've been playing it for years but not like the video. It was basically a jam format. When it works it's very cool. When it doesn't it's a drag. Daryl

  19. If the cabs are identical, design, speakers, sensitivity etc, except for the impedance, then the 4 ohm cab may sound louder to you. If you’re talking about wholly different cabs, make, manufacturer, speakers etc, then all bets are off. Rob

  20. That's probably because we didn't allow replies to posts, or a bump function. Mostly because it would otherwise have become a place to trade and sell without placing an ad. I agree, it wasn't a great solution. Now it's for supporting members only, it's all allowed. You can reply, sell, bump etc in there, plus the wanted ads aren't visible to scammers who are using them to offer items that don't exist for sale. The same has happened at Bassic.de and Talkbass, too.

  22. We didn't market ourselves as a Dr Feelgood tribute, but I suppose we were really because we called ourselves Stupidity after their album of the same name, and we only played Dr Feelgood songs. Here's a shortened selection of songs. Stupidity Selection.mov "Hello Josephine" recorded in rehearsal, I'm sitting down because I had just come out of hospital the day before following an op to have a fatty lump removed from my stomach. 23. Y'all saying Nathan East and Niles Rodgers got no groove? 😲 The bass line doesn't repeat, there are subtle changes all the way through. Boring world if we all liked the same thing though 😜

  24. It's a T500, and I really really enjoy it. I've had it for about 10 years and it does everything so perfectly. Very easy to use EQ, waaaaay more power than I need... I have no need for another amp.

  25. How does changing the EQ increase or decrease string tension? It's impossible.

  26. Put the stand slightly out of reach so you only look at it when really necessary. Otherwise you'll end up staring at it. Sometimes you have to be make the mistakes to realise where they might happen. If I get lost I tend to default to a Duck Dunn walk until I end up on the right note again!

  30. I have one of these but in red. It's a brilliant bass - I would NOT say the neck is a bit of a baseball bat though - it's wide (as a P bass should be) but really flat ... well mine is anyway. It's really comfortable to play, sounds awesome and looks the business! GLWTS.

  31. Hi bass dudes My Rush tribute band is playing live next Friday (June 28th) in Bracknell at the Acoustic Couch and I wanted to share this video here from our rehearsal we did last week. Geddy is my bass hero and I'm very excited to try and do some of his amazing basslines justice in a live setting. If anyone is interested, here is the link for tickets: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/invisible-airwaves-a-tribute-to-rush-tickets-797365380317 Would love to nerd out over some Rush related bass stuff with anyone who can make it Cheers Hemi

  33. So I've been with the current band for almost three years now. In that time our set has evolved but there's a distinctive style to how we play (all covers but rocked up versions of pop songs etc). Well, we have a gig that the lead guitarist can't make it to. So last night we rehearsed as a three piece to try and work out what from our existing bank of songs would be both appropriate and workable. And then it happened. We were throwing ideas around for songs we either haven't played in years, have never played together... Some I had never heard at all! We ended up busking through nine new songs, but because we've played together and learned lots of songs together some felt like finished products, some others just need a little tightening up. Overall it was just really fun to throw ideas out and then "have a go" but it turns out really well. Abba, Dancing Queen...? I've never even tried to play it, gave it a go, loved it, sounded great. We would never do that in the full band, ever. "I'd always wanted to do the Baywatch theme tune..." I thought out loud, expecting to be shot down. Guitarist "did it years ago in solo acoustic stuff..." We start to play it and it sounds and feels excellent. No lead guitar? No problem. Fretless bass and some more fills than usual and we are away. Had an absolute blast.

  34. Similar experience for me after years in 4 and 5 piece cover bands, move to the sticks, hook up with a guitarist with a voice. End up as a duo playing pop songs I never would have listened to in the past and having a ball.

  36. Custom built jazz bass consisting of a Squire Classic Vibe Jazz neck. This is from the Chinese made series of vibes from 2010 and is stunning. The body is alder and finished in nitro with a tasteful light roadworn /relic. It has Norstrand 51 split J Alnico pickups which are vintage wax potted if you like that kind of thing! Please check the You Tube video on these pickups. They take the bass to another level. Comes with a basic gig bag. Can post if you arrange courier.UK only. I have reduced the price as I have something else in mind and would like this gone. Failing that I may part out the body and pickups.

I could potentially meet at a railway station on the West Coast main Line - Euston to Crew/Wolves/Brum. No trades as I'm thinning out! (Famous last words!) Price Drop £850 collected

  47. Anyone mentioned these? If so, I believe they deserve another go. Apologies to Ped, to Grolsch, and to the homebrew stores who supply the rubber ones, but these are so simple to use, under 4 quid a pair, and go on/come off so much easier, yet keep the strap tight and safe.
